This is the pitch packet I submitted both Pitch THIS! and TAAFI's Big Pitch. I made it to the top two in both competitions. It was put together with the help of my boyfriend, who rewrote the character profiles and initial summary. I wanted to share it.
It was always my dream to pitch my own show, and last year I got the opportunity to do it twice. Even though nothing really came of it, it was a huge accomplishment for me. This was put together very quickly and is slap-dash as a result, but if I can do it, anyone can.

sokka gets the worst actors who don’t look or express like him 😭
Meh, I've liked what I've seen so far. But we haven't seen much. In the recent Netflix interview, he also seemed to give off Sokka vibes. I'm gonna wait until the show releases to see if Sokka is done justice. Sokka is one of my favorite characters. He's pivotal to not only the core gang but also the show. So I'll be paying close attention.

No way we're actually getting a good adaptation of ATLA. No way.
I was smiling during that trailer. And the bending actually looks good!
Don't give me hope.

Well LMK fans, looks like you'll have to live in the hiatus for a while longer. By this wording, they haven't even finished Season 5 yet.

David Breen. Always with the tweets.
Lol LMK couldn't keep that consistent January release date for too long. Would be very out of character and not in the spirit of the show.
Season 5 is gonna creep up on you like a boogeyman. Drop when you least expect it.

How LMK handles Wukong is perhaps one of the things that doesn't feel fluid. Wukong's journey is supposed to be that one must become the best version of themselves. Book!Wukong is angry at first, arrogant, has flaws and the trip made him improve. But the show makes it seem like no, it's all misunderstandings, it's Azure Lion who planned everything. But then he shows him as someone who is lazy, who keeps too many secrets, or that everything is his fault with his current personal relationships.
How they handle the character is contradictory for those who read the book.
Yeah, Wukong's character in LMK is kinda a mess. It's almost as if the JTTW moreso mellowed Wukong out as opposed to actually developing him as a person. The way I see it, the writers kinda want Wukong to go on this 2nd metaphorical JTTW with MK and co. where they get to explore flaws and have him grow within the context of the show. But a big problem with their approach is that we never see things from Wukong's perspective, and the Monkey never has the proper room to grow and learn from his mistakes and flaws because the show is so short.
So, any resolutions we do get seem shallow, and unfortunately, Wukong comes off as a worse person than the writers intended. Remember the whole "deadbeat dad Wukong" debacle that was so bad that even the writer had to step in? I saw that as the straw that broke the camel's back in terms of people seeing Wukong as a "good" person.
So what we end up with is a Wukong that seemed to have regressed from his JTTW self and all his numerous, destructive, and overbearing flaws makes you question what he even learned on the Journey in the first place.

If Nezha makes an appearance in LMK S5, can the writers have him do more than just get beat up by the bad guy.

How are you feeling on Monkie Kid these days? I’ve kind of moved on to JTTW fandom after falling into a research hole. Like I still like LMK but it doesn’t hit the same personally.
It doesn't hit me the same anymore either. There are still some things I like about it. I actually rewatched some scenes recently. But I'm no longer in love with it, you know? And trust me when I say that I LOVED this show.
I like looking at the fanart, but I'm not bothered when a hiatus comes around. In fact, because of how much I disliked the S3 Special, it took me a long while to watch the S4 episodes. Whether in Mandarin or English. And S4 didn't make me happy either.
TLDR: Monkie Kid content no longer excites me, but there are still some things I appreciate about it.

It's January, y'all. Do you know what that means?
Another season of Monkie Kid is right around the corner.
If following past trends, Season 5 should air in China in the next few weeks.

Something that annoys me about the S4 Special: fans have been wanting Wukong’s perspective since maybe Season 2. And instead of capitalizing on the perfect opportunity with Wukong being trapped in the tortuous memory scroll...we see MK and Macaque and only a dash of Wukong at the end.
Why is this a problem? Because we already know how MK and Macaque feel about Wukong. This has been the case since the start of the show. But it's never entirely clear what Wukong feels about the situations he ends up in and the hurt he caused. We might get a few sprinkles here and there where he apologizes and feels horrible. But MK and Macaque get whole episodes dedicated to their angsty feelings. Why can't Wukong? We should have seen the mountain argument scene from Wukong's perspective, not Mac and MK's. We could have gotten a scene where we witness the Brotherhood fight the Pilgrims from Wukong's perspective. But nope. Instead, we have to watch MK learn his idol sucks for the umpteenth time.
Why didn't the writers write that first part of the Special from the perspective of Wukong? We could have seen him gradually reliving his memories and getting more and more depressed to the point he just gives up on trying to escape and thinks about staying in the scroll. Then you can have Mac and MK show up at the end to pull him out of his funk.
Almost the entirety of S4 revolved around the notion that Wukong is a terrible sworn brother and traitor. It's literally a big chip on the main villain's shoulder. And a lot of confusion and doubt was because we didn't know how Wukong felt about the entire situation.
It will always continue to baffle me how the writers of a Monkey King/JTTW inspired show are so hesitant to delve deeper or give more screentime to the freaking Monkey King. They want him to have depth and layers but never bother to fully explore that depth. And the result is a jumbled mess of a character.
Nothing but missed opportunities.

Also, speaking of old Aphmau content, does anyone else miss the old minigames she used to do?
Like the prop hunt, hide-and-seek, pixelart, Guess Who, the singing competitions, etc. You know what I'm talking about. There were even a couple of videos where she read fanfictions with the VA cast.
Nowadays, she's doing the "alphabet letters are eating my friends"...schtick.
I just miss those days...

I'm not really an Aphmau fan anymore, but there are days when I get the itch to watch her old roleplays again. Usually Minecraft Diaries. That series was my favorite back in the day.
Sigh, nostalgia is bittersweet
