Into The Future Soil Rugs With Additional Invisible Presets - default replacement

This was requested by @echoweaver (sorry it took me so long to upload!). I added a second invisible preset to all five ITF soil rugs so they are a bit more versatile. I decided against replacing the original texture with an empty one because I didn't want it to mess up pre-built houses in Oasis Landing, so instead I added a new preset. Because of that, I had to edit the .OBJD resources along with the textures, so if you're using these hiders by @bioniczombie, make sure to delete the hiders for these rugs!

WAIT I just noticed that I hit 500 followers? Like, real 500 followers?? I just assumed most were bots but those are legit! Trying to make a good default skin but failing miserably 😟

Conducting experiments on how to make a default skin that looks good with dark skintones AND doesn't look overly shiny on lighter tones... So far the only way to make it work was to put some highlighter on the default face overlay (the one with the eyes and teeth textures).

The sim in the preview wears no makeup except for a bit of basegame blush and eyeliner. All the shine (including the shine on her lips) is from the face overlay. Looks good, but it only works with one default eye texture and I didn't even make the eyes so it means that I won't be able to share the final version with other people 🙃 Ughh and the body still doesn't look good when you pull the tone slider all the way to the right, even though I put shine on body overlay texture as well. Why is making a good default skin so damn hard... the face looks cute with all skintones but the body only looks good and detailed on pale sims (except for the damn clavicles that I put way too high). It also has neck and scalp seams... And the bg tone ramps are so washed out... I just want townies to look good without divine intervention having to fix them manually in CAS, is this too much to ask for? 😭

side note I love this sim I made with no cc/sliders, she's so damn cute!! really showcases the power of a decent set of default textures lol

i cant be the only person that wants to jump off a cliff when I see something for sims 3 that has 43 presets and it's unrecolorable excepting paintings and some specific deco, this is........................................... I cant

As someone who is obsessed with CASt and spends hours editing CC I download to make it recolourable, I wholeheartedly agree with this post. Create-a-style is such an integral and iconic feature of Sims 3, I would hate for it to be sidelined in favour of TS4-like swatches and overlays. 

Also I must say that I can’t play the game without installing at least 50 of your patterns, so I can’t thank you enough for your hard work. Good patterns can salvage even the most underwhelming items, and yours are some of the best patterns available for ts3. I’m sure I’m not the only one who thinks so 💕

Let's show that TS3 core feature called Create-a-Style some love 💜

The CaSt feature is one of the most unique and defining features of the Sims 3. Let's use it to our advantage!

As a pattern creator, I am counting on the ability to recolor CC so that my patterns can be widely used. Making patterns is a pretty lonely road these days (it's more of an overgrown path, hardly anyone travels it anymore). While most likely not the only culprit, the rise of non-recolorable CC (read: patterns cannot be applied or look terrible) definitely plays a role in this development. I admit that I sometimes worry about my place among fellow creators, should this trend continue to gain momentum. Patterns are at the heart of the Sims 3 and there are only a few pattern creators left. It would be sad to see the numbers dwindle even more. It would mean that a lot of creative potential in our games will vanish. Inside the Sims 3, patterns are an important asset to make our creative visions come true, as they can completely transform the look of most objects (and clothes, accessories, walls, you name it). As part of a community, creators have the opportunity to lift each other up, and object/clothing creators can help fellow pattern creators feel valued by including a recolorable swatch (and tidying up that UV mask so they will look good, too 🤪). Furthermore, creators have the opportunity to work hand in hand to enhance the value/usability of their CC for all fellow simmers. So let's do this! If you are a CC creator and have not made your creations recolorable, but are interested in doing so, or in improving your skills, why don't we have a conversation about it? Let's get behind the mystery of recolorable CC. We can put our heads together as a community and share resources, tips, tutorials, and workflows to teach each other how to make RGB masks, edit multipliers, bake AO maps, and straighten those UVs. If you are an experienced creator and are open to sharing your process on how to make CC recolorable, or simply know some great tutorials, please feel free to share in the comments or reblog with info! Feel free to post your questions or concerns too so we may find common ground and appreciate each other's efforts.

A long time ago, I had an idea to make a really detailed survey to get a sense of how the average reader consumes stories on simblr, but the project as I imagined it was too ambitious and I lost steam. I decided to revive a version of it using tumblr polls, so I’ll be posting a couple questions in the coming weeks/days and then putting together a synthesis post with all the responses.

I made a website!

Now you've probably seen the attempt before, people getting mad at tumblr and then making a 'Simblr' (Tumblr clone). Though, despite tumblr being sometimes a bit frustrating because of their changes, that's not why this site came to be...

I wanted a place where Storytellers, Creators, and just generic sim players can all be together and get the exposure and fun that they deserve.

Not only that, but also for a place where the TSM community and TS1 can belong somewhere too without the use of a forum.

And eventually, I hope we can make it the home for Life by you and Paralives when that comes out :)

Plus, it's also NSFW friendly! While the site is initially PG-13, we've got tags and profile settings that allow you to browse NSFW items as well.

What can I find on Simblr.cc exactly?

I've specifically made filters for different games, and their needs in mind. For example, for TS2 there are so many awesome game fixes out there and clean templates, that you'll be able to navigate and find this easily.

Not only that, items can also be put in multiple categories! Especially great if you've uploaded a set!

You can also find Testers wanted only mods here if you feel like helping out fellow simmers with testing!

NOTE:

Mods do go through a "queue", but not in the same way as you may have experienced on MTS or TSR. I merely check if it's flagged as NSFW correctly, and then it's good to go! :) So the waiting time will be much less!

What about moderation?

While there's a report system in place, and the items in the queue are checked for NSFW, but users could still turn their non-NSFW to a NSFW, items may be stolen. So do report these as that will never be condoned!

Additionally, all comments you get on your mods, story, etc. Those are primarily moderated by you. You can delete them, you can turn comments off even if you'd like. If things really go wrong, you can always ask an admin.

im really stoned and sleep deprived and im thinking about some of the “about” pages ive seen from young tumblr users and im like. who tf is out here telling 14 year old kids that they gotta put shit like a detailed description of all of their potential social privileges next to a summary of their medical history on public display.
