been thinking about this post i made again and i think i'm gonna start pushing the "sokka and yue were never actually in love, they just liked the idea of what each other represented" agenda. who's with me?

i say this in the absolute nicest way, but yue definitely liked sokka sooo much more than he liked her. he was like 'oh cool a pretty girl let me talk to her' and she was like 'omg this is the person to save me from the clutches of a patriarchal society and an arranged marriage omg omg'. that is not balanced.

anyway i don't have anything against yuekka but like people who say stuff about her being jealous of suki or sokka never moving on from her... first of all suki is a real human second of all she has SO much more in common with sokka than yue ever could. third of all sokka was stuck on the fact yue DIED not the fact he lost a girl he liked. and i think yue knew that as well.

do you guys think the reason kyoshi didn't teach roku to get rid of sozin regardless of their friendship was because she had to lose a best friend as well and wishes she could've done things differently? do you think she saw the consequences of sozin's genocide and realised she was wrong to not pass down her lesson, albeit a painful one, to roku?

‘ba sing se zuko’ this and ‘final agni kai zuko’ that… MY fav zuko is ‘day of black sun zuko’ where he’s yelling at his dad. arguably the best zuko scene.

the line, “i am going to speak my mind and you are going to listen,” alone should be enough for everyone to go fxcking MENTAL.

sigh. netflix atla i can’t believe u guys ruined kuruk’s image even MORE.

the fact HE of all people told aang to ‘go it alone’ and ‘bear the burden alone’ is fucking bonkers and so out of character. the fact they took koh and went ‘yeah roku connection fuck kuruk’ as if his battle with koh wasn’t SO important. the fact they made him seem weak. oh my god.

if i have to freakin write a kuruk overview with only my bare hands and the rage of 20,000 teen girls behind me JUST to get all of u to understand him SO HELP ME GOD I WILL DO IT.

i will do it just watch. nobody understands him like me.

btw i very much enjoyed natla. i thought it was a solid adaptation, and it did a good job at capturing the essence of the original show even though it wasn’t a 1:1 remake. i had a few issues w some characterisation/writing choices and the overall timeline & plot feeling a little rushed (i.e. no downtime to explore the gaang’s personalities and friendships, everything felt very go-go-go and it took away from the impactfulness of some moments i felt) but overall i really enjoyed it. the cast was perfect, the vfx were incredible. it wasn’t flawless but it was a damn good adaptation.

does anyone else ever think about the way yue absolutely liked sokka more than he liked her? i mean initially he saw a pretty girl his age and was like ‘ok game time’ but the second she said she was engaged he was perfectly comfortable with them being friends. *she* was the one who kept getting flustered and feeling like they were breaking the rules by being around each other. *she* was the one who told sokka “i’ll always be with you” as she left him forever.

sometimes it just makes me a little sad to think about how this random girl (not random but yk what i mean) left a lifelong impact on sokka and he didn’t even know her that well.

i might be a minority here, but i always find the “my first girlfriend turned into the moon” line so sad - not for the ‘ moon’ part, but for the ‘girlfriend’.

because was she really his first girlfriend, though? or did he struggle with the grief and guilt of letting her go so much that he tried to settle the acidic taste with the title of ‘girlfriend’ so that he s didn’t feel so bad about her fate? so that maybe she wasn’t so alone if, in his memory, she was dating him? even if it wasn’t real?

idk. sometimes i think about sokka and yue and i get sad.
