T is for Tasmanian Devil 20/100 Named by colonial settlers for the noises they make at night, these nocturnal marsupials have the strongest bite per size and body weight of all mammals, they bite through the bones of their prey, so don’t go putting your hands near them! S is for Sloth 19/100 I made these a while back using peyote stitch and Miyuki Delica beads, after designing the pattern using a custom template I designed and colouring pencils. Sloths are awesome, their metabolisms are so slow they only come down from the trees once a week to poop, in which they lose a third of their body weight! They are faster in water than on land (I totally relate), and without them avocados wouldn’t exist (look it up!). O is for Octopus (More specifically, Blue-ringed Octopus) 15/100 The blue-ringed octopus, despite it’s small size, is one of the most venemous creatures on earth, so of course it lives in Australia 😁 it’s venom is a thousand times more deadly than cyanide. Luckily it’s shy! Also, octopuses are more impressive than chameleons in their ability to change colour to camouflage with their environment, so this piece is different colours under different light, containing both phosphorescent and fluorescent paint and colour pencils. The rings on the octopus only flare blue when threatened. I also had to play with the materials in the Stuart Semple / Culture Hustle box of supplies I bought myself for Christmas and hadn’t had a chance to use on anything yet. I is for Impala Work in progress, painting the background with a needle-like brush is taking too long! 9/100 This one is inspired by Art Deco motifs - impalas, gazelles and ibexes featured regularly during this art/design period. This piece was created using digital as well as traditional media.
