ok but. can we talk about how hazel is butch, but she’s allowed to be soft? like, she’s awkward and sweet and sincere and people want to protect her. while also having shaggy hair and wearing wife beaters. do you know how rare that is to see in media? butch women are so often portrayed as invulnerable, jaded, and overall unfuckwithable. and while i do love a lot of butch/gender-nonconforming characters who have those qualities, butches aren’t a monolith. they have dimensions. and presenting masculinely doesn’t mean you have to be tough and angry. i have a similar personality to hazel and as a nonbinary person im just so glad to see a gender non-conforming character that i relate to. what im trying to say is that i want more awkward weird butch lesbians please.

when i was 8 i drew this comic about two girls kissing and my mom was out raged and i thought it was because my art wasn’t good enough so i kept trying to draw girls kissing and she sent me to therapy and my therapist tried explaining homosexuality to me and i didn’t even know what that had to do with my art skills
