Many of you have chosen to Opt Out of Tumblr's new thing it's doing where it sells all our art and writing to train AI. But apparently some data has already been scraped and may have already been sent. So I think we're past asking them nicely not to steal our creative works.

There is a program called Nightshade. It was developed by the University of Chicago (who also made Glaze) for exactly this kind of situation. It corrupts the AI learning data set. You can read the specifics at the link above. The point is, it's a way to say "fuck you" to anyone who tries to use your blog's images without your permission.

Here's how to use it:

Make sure that your system is compatible. (Your GPU has to be on this list) If you don't know what your GPU is, pull up your system search, type in "Device Manager." In the window that brings up, find where it is says "Display Adapters" and click the little triangle next to it. That will show your GPU.

If your unit it compatible, you still have to download the CUDA Toolkit from Nvidia. Nightshade requires this toolkit because it takes a lot of GPU Memory to run it and they didn't have the resources to develop their own driver to go with the product.

Download Nightshade from their website. Extract the files to your system, then run the program.

Once the program opens, it will need to download some resources before it's ready. Once that's done, you can Nightshade your images. Try to add them once they're post-ready. Resizing or cropping them could make them less effective. You also have to tell Nightshade what word you're trying to corrupt. (Example: you have drawn a bunch of pictures of cats? Cat is the word you are corrupting. Your style is anime? Anime is the word you are corrupting.)

I'm still working on putting my own art through the Nightshade program, but in the meantime I wanted other creators that follow me to know a good way to fight back against this absolute bullshit choice made by Tumblr's leadership.

Just think of them going to the pet store and Bakugo looking around not as invested as Kirishima until he sees some bulldog/pitbull puppies. Even though he's a formal, stoic being, he never minds having a meaningless conversation with you when he has the time as he could just listen for hours to your natural upbeat way of talking and reacting

He most definitely makes sure that no one ridicules or tries to purposefully weigh you down, he won't stand for it

In fact, from just you alone, a tiny part of his brain thinks that maybe pure human mortals are not so bad

Let's be honest, Jeff is a dick so at first when you meet, he tries to make fun of your carefree self saying you wouldn't last a week in the mansion but really, it's because he's shook by your personality

His confusion and suspicion of you turns into playful banter eventually as he sees and hangs around you more often because come on, it's infectious and different

It goes as far as him being upset for you when people try to put you down, typical golden retriever and guard dog duo energy you got going on

Any time his mind becomes too jumbled to think straight, he almost always makes a beeline to you just for your gleeful rambles and conversation to ground him to earth again

While he definitely still jokes that you're too gullible to stay in the mansion, he'd secretly really hate to see you lose your bright spark

Date nights are a common occurrence with Slenderman, deciding on one day of the week where you two will have some form of a date or even just hang out for a long period of time

Along with the date nights, slow dances are a must and usually take place in the woods under the stars and moonlight since he always thinks you look the most endearing with the night sky lighting your face

He would never forget important dates during your relationship from your anniversary to your birthday to the day you meet and even your first kiss, always gifting you a single healthy rose for the little days since they still deserve a celebration

Slenderman is very protective of you, especially if you start living in the mansion with him and the rest of the killers, making sure no one raises a finger at you if they wish to see the light of day

With protectiveness comes cautiousness as he is gentle with you to no end, careful with touching you as if you were made of glass since humans are so fragile and he is a supernatural entity, but he'd never dare harm you

Affection from him is always gentle and warm with the smell of the woods following him wherever he goes so you find the most relaxing and safest place to be is in his arms

He's pretty proper and old fashioned with pet names so you'll hear a lot of names like dear, dearest, darling, my love, my beloved, etc

Since he's a knowledgeable man, you usually spend a lot of time chatting together with him sharing his experiences in this world from how long he's lived in it or you'll spend most of your time in the library, reading in comfortable silence with each other

Even though he's quite busy with taking care of the majority of creepypastas, assigning missions for his proxies, making sure their hands are clean after crimes committed, he would always have time for you and for the most part you could hang around his office carefree as he deals with his duties for the day

All in all, while Slenderman may be an intimidating figure to creepypastas and humans alike, his heart and affection is open to you and just knowing you have the same feelings towards him is enough to make him melt

When Beverly sees the necklace that was hidden in its small gift box, she immediately tries to hand it back to you saying that she can't accept it, but you reassure her that you want her to keep it and put it on her before she can decline the gift again

She doesn't say it, but the more gifts you give her, the more flustered she gets from the pampered affection. In fact, she can't find the heart to tell you to slow down on them

Really, it gets to the point of her not finding much room to keep the gifts in that she gets you to slow down and even starts giving gifts back to you the further you are in your relationship

"Damn, you beat me to it! I also had a gift for you! Let me go get it then we can rock, paper, scissors on who opens theirs first, okay?"

Eddie:

With the first ever gift you give him, he looks at it with genuine but gleeful shock since wow, you really though of him enough to gift him something which was a nice little keychain that he could attach to his backpack or fanny pack

Each time you give him a gift from then on, the shock doesn't go away and the smile on his face shows you each time that he appreciates it, but he does get a bit concerned on the amount of gifts you throw his way after a while

When he asks you why you give him endless presents and hears your reply that you just like seeing him happy, he laughs and playfully rolls his eyes at you

"You bet that I'm gonna start giving you gifts back because I'll start feeling spoiled! ...By the way, we should really get a bookshelf for these gifts, I think I'm running out of space."

PSA to artists on DeviantArt

DeviantArt announced their own AI model that is to be trained on artworks ALREADY uploaded to the platform and apparently the option to opt out of having your artworks used in training. You are opted in by default, and have to go in and opt out each artwork, one by one.

I'd recommend opting-out with all your artworks ASAP if you don't want to contribute and letting DeviantArt know you're not happy with their decision. You can read more here! In case you are unfamiliar with this topic or unsure of your stance, I'd recommend this video. EDIT: I'm making updates as they come in. I'm listening to their Spaces on their Twitter and they already seem to be fumbling under pressure.
