The story of Stephen in Acts Chapter 7 is awe inspiring.
Stephen: a man appointed by the apostles to spread the gospel, who was described as full of grace and power, died a horrible death following God till the end.
As Stephen is spreading the gospel, people are getting angry at him and creating lies forcing him in front of the council to defend himself.
Stephen uses the Holy Spirit and speaks wisdom telling the story of how the Old Testament connects to Jesus, but still he is not believed and is stoned to death.
As Stephen is being killed, his last words are a crying out to God telling Him to not hold the people’s sins against them.
Stephen : the first martyr of Christianity stayed true to Christ till the very end. ♥️

“Jesus said this to point out how Peter would die. His death would bring glory to God.
Then Jesus said to him, “Follow me!”
When Peter saw that disciple, he asked, “Lord, what will happen to him?” Jesus answered, “Suppose I want him to remain alive until I return. What does that matter to you? You must follow me.””
‭‭John‬ ‭21‬:‭19‬, ‭21‬-‭22‬ ‭NIRV‬‬
Peter trying to deflect Jesus giving him instructions and insight into his life going forward and Jesus snapping back, saying, focus on yourself 😂
How often do we try to deflect our own struggles onto others when we should focus on your walk with Jesus!

The ending of the book of John is insane. John literally states that Jesus did so much that you don’t realize and he can’t fit it into this book and like wow yes.
Jesus continues to do things but trying to imagine it in my little human brain is impossible and thats okay cause Jesus loves me and He loves you and He died for us so we can go to Heaven with God and maybe ask Him all these questions you know.

Thomas not believing Jesus rose again and came to see the disciples until he saw it with his own eyes is crazy.
Jesus waited till Thomas showed up in the house and appeared again so Thomas would know that He is who He says He is.
Jesus did not have to prove himself to anyone but Jesus knows His disciples inside and out and knew that was what Thomas needed.

REMINDER: When your feeling lonely💕
“I will ask the Father. And he will give you another friend to help you and to be with you forever.”
‭‭John‬ ‭14‬:‭16‬ ‭NIRV‬‬
“But you know him. He lives with you, and he will be in you. I will not leave you like children who don’t have parents. I will come to you.”
‭‭John‬ ‭14‬:‭17‬-‭18‬ ‭NIRV‬‬
Jesus departs the Earth and returns to Heaven but leaves us with The Holy Spirit for guidance♥️

“There are many rooms in my Father’s house. If this were not true, would I have told you that I am going there? Would I have told you that I would prepare a place for you there? If I go and do that, I will come back. And I will take you to be with me. Then you will also be where I am.”
‭‭John‬ ‭14‬:‭2‬-‭3‬ ‭NIRV‬‬
Jesus not only let us know that He is leaving and preparing a place to be with Him but also that He will come back and take us there Himself! This verse gives me such comfort that death is not the end and I will never be alone! ♥️ AMEN!

“They loved praise from people more than praise from God.”
‭‭John‬ ‭12‬:‭43‬ ‭NIRV‬‬
When the authorities during that time believed in Jesus but were too afraid to be kicked out of their position of power so they stayed silent.
How often do people do that now!!!

Luke 11 :30 where Jesus is talking to a crowd and realizes they are not understanding and getting kind of restless so He uses an Old Testament reference to connect the dots.
The crowd wants a sign from Him and Jesus comes back by saying the only sign they will get is the sign of Jonah.
Jonah a man who disobeyed God by not following Him when He said to go preach, and ended up chilling in a fish belly for 3 days.
… Jesus trying to explain to the crowd that all this preaching and miracles are God’s doing and Jesus is about to die and be resurrected 3 days later for them!

I like reading the New Testament and Jesus’s story and getting to a part where Jesus connects the Old Testament to now. There are so many instances in the New Testament where the Old is referenced.
Jesus does it so brilliantly because He knows what audience He is preaching too and how to get through to them.

Not disciples John and James using their godly given powers to ask Jesus if He wants them to send fire down on a village because the village didn’t receive Jesus properly.
Jesus replied so bluntly “ for the Son of Man came not to destroy people’s lives but to save them”. (Luke 9:55)
But like. Of course when humans get an inch of power we use it for bad. This is why we need Jesus y’all!!!!

Let’s talk about the man who went to Pilate and asked for Jesus’s body from the cross so He could be buried!
He was risking his life and announcing to the world who’s side he was on! Heavens!!!
Shout out to Joseph of Arimathea.
He was not just a regular guy either. He was high up in council so to confront Pilate took so much faith!!!

A pastor on Good Friday explained that when Jesus died on the cross, a significant event happened.
“And the curtain of the temple was torn in two” (Luke 23:45)
The temple, the place only the highest priest once a year could meet with God.
Jesus’s death tore the veil open. So all people could have a relationship with God all the time.
The veil opened top (by Jesus from Heaven) to bottom (to humans)
We could not have done that, no matter what, we needed Jesus to connect us back to God!

Genesis started in the Garden of Eden, where Adam and Eve severed the relationship with God and were thrown out.
Jesus died on the cross and was buried in a tomb located in a garden (John 19:41)

I am reading in the Bible right now Matthew, chapters 8 and 9 where I am coming across many instances of confusion within the disciples. Jesus is going here and there and spreading a lot of information quickly, so quickly that even His own disciples are confused.
Jesus knows what they are thinking and takes time to explain things but other times, Jesus specifically shields information from them. An interesting phenomenon which seems to be all in God’s timing.
It is so interesting to me that while reading the Bible I too get confused and have to take time to go over things again and research, wishing I could just ask Jesus for clarity face to face.
The disciples during this period have Jesus right in front of them but are often too afraid to ask. Crazy.
How often do we do that in our own life now?
We feel that our question is too dumb, or we should already know the answers, but Jesus understands that we are human and these feelings are normal. He teaches us through ways we can understand and shields us from things that are not in God’s timing.
Incredible.
