Practice animation! Playing around with a SpiderGwen rig from Agora Community! I plan to properly light and render this with that good ol' Spidey Sense lighting as soon as I've tweaked and edited her movements nicely!

Progress shot of a 2D animation shot, from initial animation to compositing! ⚔️🍃

1) The first clip was an assignment from the 1st year of my animation diploma, done in Toonboom Harmony.

2) In the 2nd clip I'd taken the clip into After Effects with some layered environment sketches, to test out a multi-plane camera zoom effect I wanted.

3) For the final clip, I'd taken the basic character back into Toonboom for colours, refined and coloured the environment layers in Photoshop, and brought it all together with some After Effects particle effects for dust!

The Obscure Webcomic Tournament...2.0!

The time is finally here...feast upon the offerings for the second round, to find the even more most obscure webcomic!

For anyone new: this is a tournament where you vote for the comic you don't know, so that by the end, only comics people don't know will remain. This does not mean that comics included are obscure - there are some pretty big names in here - but that the winner will be the most obscure.

The complete list of webcomics can be found here, including links, images, details and descriptions as given by the submitter(s). Caveat emptor, I am not and will not be vetting the content of these comics; a lot of the descriptions include content warnings, but don't assume a lack of warnings means there's nothing triggering.

As with round 1.0, these are split into 16 subbrackets (A-P) to be actually legible, and there will be 4 polls coming out daily from [probably 1/15 but subject to change]. I'll update the pinned post with more detailed rules once the polls start going up.

finally... a list of the comics that were cut, are, well, below the cut.

for the record, I didn't do this for 1.0 because only one comic was cut, and that was Hetalia. But since instead we're cutting, like, 20 comics, I wanted to give links + explain reasoning. A lot of these are really good, so, go check them out while waiting for the polls to start up!

Look: these were valid submissions, but let's be real: if I'm going to be cutting webcomics, I'm starting with the ones put out by Detective Comics Comics. They can handle it. Also, from a popularity standpoint I'm pretty sure they'd all be out in round 1 anyways, even going up against the other 'too popular' comics.

So, again, these were valid submissions. As with last round, I don't have an issue with deleted comics. However, the best place to trim down was undeniably with the comics you can't actually click through a link to read. Some of these are available, but in print exclusively.

Todd Allison and the Petunia Violet (the *archive* is now also broken. which may be temporary but...) Todd Allison & the Petunia Violet combines "explosions, bombs, plant biology, chemical engineering, parties, pretty shoes and people swearing" into a beautiful comic. Was hosted on smackjeeves, but already abandoned by the time smackjeeves closed. I also read that there were a few more comics posted that was not picked up by the archive site, that are lost now.

Also, these are webtoons canvas comics where the link is dead, idk if this is temporary or permanent, or something about not having the app, but I can't see them so here they lie.

Too Popular + No Description

So, I wanted to cut out some of the comics without a description (since it's a smaller number and I felt better about it for "low effort" submissions) and I ended with the same number for those that were deleted but available on the Internet Archive...and those that I classified as 'too popular'. I ended up choosing to include the archived, and cut out the too popular.

MinecraftPride - from what i can tell, this is a single page from 2015. sorry, not sorry, it won't make the cut.

The Three Bare Bears - I guess this kind of falls under "too popular" but while there is a description...this is 10 strips, and is now a mainstream cartoon. so....yeah

Anyways: to anyone who complains "why is this comic submitted, it's not obscure" know that the alternative was I put Wayne Family Adventures in that comic's place.
