Pokemon of the week - Regidrago
Well, this is a new pokemon!  I’ve only seen it in videos thus far.  I’m not a big one for the Regis.  I think they’re kind of neat as an idea, an icon, and a challenge.  They’re just not typically something i would use on my team.
That being said, I think the design is fine, and it looks, like you would expect a dragon themed Regi to look.  The colors are nice, and the dragon-esque limbs area nice touch.
From what I’m seeing it has petty good stats, on par for a Regi.  Not a huge move pool, but sufficient for it to be successful and useful.  It’s ability is VERY impressive, Dragon’s Maw, increasing damage of dragon attacks by 50%!
If you’re interested in using the Dragon Orb pokemon, please follow this link through to serebii.net and read their article about using it in competitive play.  It usually works in play throughs as well.

Pokemon of the Week - Cursola
Now being someine who loves ghost types I was really happy, and a little sad, to see Cursola, and the galaran Corsula.  It means another life form wiped out!  So Sad.  But still so cute!  It looks all spooky, and I think it plays quite different from regular Corsola.  I always thought Corsola needed an evolution and it’s great this form gets one.  I just wish it would have retained either it’s water or rock part to go with the ghost part.
It’s still not a fast pokemon, and it’s defenses aren’t great, but it can hit pretty well.  And it’s ghost typing gives it some advantages.  I mean, I guess I could see a young trainer starting with galaran Corsola...but it just seems so sad.  But for any trainer beyond I can totally see them caring for this special ghost type.  I kind of wish it wasn’t quite so white though.  It makes it hard for me to pick out any particulars of either design, but when I focus I can, and they’re pretty nice!
If you’re interested in the Coral pokemon, please follow the link through to serebii.net and read their write up on how to use this pokemon in competitive play.  Always enjoyable and full of ideas!

Pokemon of the Week - Marowak
Marowak!  One of the original pokemon. There’s the cute, sad little Cubone, then the fiercer evolved Marowak.  And then the way cool Alolan version of Marowak.  In it’s original state, the ground type Cubone is pretty cute, and not very tough.  However it evolves and becomes an almost useful Marowak.  It really is dependent on having it’s item Thick Bone which makes it do a heck of a lot of damage.  Just watch out for Knock Off.  With the fairly bland brown and white deisgn, it just did not really appeal to me too much.  And it always felt like it needed another evolution.
But the Alolan Marowak, with the ghost and fire typing, is so beautiful.  The design with the streamlined white skull, and the gray body, and the club it holds being on fire, is just awesome.  And this Marowak Hits even harder with even better moves.  However, it still needs the Thick Bone.  Without it, Marowak becomes a lot weaker.  I have used this pokemon and really loved having it on my team.
If you’re interested in using the Bone Keeper pokemon, please follow the link through to serebii.net and they give you ideas on using either form of Marowak in competitive battles!

Pokemon of the Week - Alakazam
First gen Psychic type Alakazam!  And Abra and Kadabra too!  I’m not much for yellow pokemon, but in first gen Alakazam was SO powerful!   But Abra was SO hard to catch!!  It would always just Teleport away!  Argh!  I loved when the elemental punches were just Special, before special split.  I worked hard to get the punches on an Abra, and while it could not take a single hit, it sure could get that first powerful hit off, and then even better when it evolved!
Anyway, after that it was able to learn plenty of good moves, of varying types.  And it’s mega evolution was even more powerful!  Being a three stage pokemon, it could easily be seen as someone’s first partner, but it would be hard to battle with the Abra.  Maybe it could Teleport you out of trouble though?  I wish it or it’s shiny version had some nicer colors to them.  Maybe a nice blue or something?  LOL
Anyway, if you’re interested in using the Psi pokemon, please follow the link through to serebii.net to see their suggestions on using it in competitive battles!

Pokemon of the Week - Hippowdon
Hippopotas and Hippowdon are both very nice ground types.  If you like ground types and don’t have a really good one already, this hippo may fit the bill!  Unsurprisingly, it is not terribly fast.  And I am not a great fan of the color scheme of various browns, or browns and greys.
I have to say, I never thought that the distinction between Hippopotas and Hippowdon are that great that I can tell which is which.  Maybe it’s just my general ambivalence to them, so I just never tried to keep them straight.  And with their single typing and slow speed, there just hasn’t been much incentive.  I’d sooner use favorites like Marshtomp or Flygon...
But if you have your heart set on using the Heavyweight pokemon, then please follow the link to see serebii.net and see their suggestions for playing it in competitive battles.  It should give some solid ideas for a play through as well!

Pokemon of the Week - Dragapult
Ahh a nice psuedo-legendary dragon type!  Ahhh, I love dragons and ghosts!  This is an excellent pokemon!  Dreepy is a super cute little start type.  It can’t take a lot of damage, but that’s often true of a starter stage form.  But the ghost and dragon typing help make up for it.  Drakloak is a good middle form.  (Middle forms are rarely that impressive.) and Dragapult is a strong final form.
This pokemon is super speedy, which is something i love!  Even if it wasn’t two of my favorite types as well. But it hits hard, is durable enough, and it has good access to moves, as you’d expect.  I love how it fades out some.  I am not too thrilled with the ‘jet’ on it’s head, but it’s not horrible.  And I love the green coloring of the body.  And how Drakloak has a little Dreepy on it. Once I finally got to get one I put it on my team and it’s still there!  :)

Pokemon of the Week - Jirachi
Jirachi is a nice little legendary pokemon.  Consistently high stats, cute appearance.  Good typings.  There’s just not that much for me to say about the legendaries.  At least the little ones are really cute and I don’t mind having them in my party as it feels like they need friends and protecting.
Steel and Psychic are both good types, and Jirachi gets plenty of good moves to use.  If this is a legendary pokemon you’d like to use, please follow the link through to serebii.net to read about the Wish pokemon.

Pokemon of the Week - Heracross
Heracross!  Now, back when it came out, this was one of the only bug or fighting types I liked.  It’s just such a well-built pokemon.  It has good stats, spread well, and a good move pool and abilities.
And it has a great design.  Very buggy, but very sturdy, like a good fighting type.  I’m not usually a fan of them being just one color, but it works on Heracross.  It’s a fun and playful pokemon.  And even though it only has the single for, no evolutions, I can’t help but be impressed by it.  I can totally see anyone from a young first-time trainer to an old experienced pro having a champ like Heracross on their team!

this may be an Unpopular Opinion (even on tumblr) but like the 8-hour workday is just Too Gotdamn Long
like even sitting in an office for eight hours a day isn’t particularly pleasant (or healthy, as we are beginning to see) but when we’re talking about doing *actual work* for that same amount time it gets pretty fucking brutal
doing literally *anything* (even leisure activities) for eight hours straight tends to be less than enjoyable but when we’re talking about things like construction, landscaping, factory work, and hell, even foodservice and retail, eight hours is a fucking ETERNITY
i might just be a lazy weak-willed bitch but honestly i think i’m not entirely wrong

Pokemon of the Week  - Indeedee
Well, when I first saw his pokemon, I was intrigued.  Then I saw it had only one stage.  Then I saw it was Psychic and Normal.  Ugh. Normal. I just don’t care for that.  It is a cute pokemon, I think.  It’s also kind of weird looking too.  Like all its’ weight has settled into it’s but area.  I do like the dark purpleish sort of coloring.  Anyway, it has not yet captured my interest enough to use one.
It’s stats seem okay, but nothing great.  Different stats for the genders, and some different moves.  The Hidden Ability is useful.  But all in all I’m not sure how great this pokemon is.
If you are interested, please follow the link and check out Serebii.net’s write up of how this Emotion Pokemon can be used in competitive battles.

Pokemon of the Week - Porygon2
Porygon has always been an odd little pokemon.  Originally, you could only earn one I think in the game.  And then they are genderless, so can’t breed much.  And then they got evolutions of Porygon2 and Porygon Z.  I don’t think their stats changed that much with evolution either.  And they’re all Normal type.  They really seem like they’d be at least partially electric?
I do enjoy that they now have three stages.  And they learn some good moves, and seem to have sufficient stats to use them.  I do quite enjoy the color scheme as well, the blue and pink work well together.
But...is it a duck...?

Pokemon of the Week - Krookodile
Krookodile is a very nice pokemon.  I always love pokemon with three stage evolutions.  And it’s is no exception.  It’s a nice Ground and Dark type, which I think it is the first of those.  Sandile, Krokorok, and Krookodile all share the great black stripes, and they start out with a nice light brown.  The underside on Sandile and Krokorok is very reminiscent of the red hue that Krookodile eventually sports so well.  It’s also wonderful how they each have black markings around their eyes that resemble a mask, but that subtly shift from evolution to evolution.  It’s a nice detail.  I always like to think about how the starter form would be with a new/ young pokemon trainer, and Sandile would be great.  I could see a young trainer like Max from the series having one.
I used one of these great pokemon on an all Dark team I had, and it definitely pulled its’ weight.  Once fully evolved it was a staple team member.  It has solid stats and access to plenty of good moves and abilities.  It is a pokemon I highly recommend you try using!

Pokemon of the Week - Zoroark
Ahh, Zoroark!  And Zorua!  Dark is one of my very favorite types, and these lovely pokemon exemplify the type very well.  They are both very well designed and have a nice distinctive from others but unifying with each other look to them.  The gray-black, with the red highlights just looks very nice.  Their fox type builds also endear them to me as I love those also.
Illusion is a fascinating ability, which can confuse me as often as the opponents!  Otherwise I think they have a good speed, good enough defense and good attack so they are very capable team members.  They learn a pretty diverse amount of moves, enough that you’re not really lacking I think.  And you can totally see Zorua being a friend to a young trainer and growing up with them to become the impressive Zoroark, an excellent partner in crime if needed!
If you’re interested in using this really fun pokemon, please follow the link through to serebii.net to read their ideas of using it in competitive battles.
