Sofia looked at her stepfather curiously. “Why? What does he do on the full moon?”

The king gave a wry smile and shook his head. He pat Sophia on the head. “I have no clue. You know how fussy Cedric is. It could be anything.” With that, King Cedric took his leave. Sophia watched her father leave, a worried look crossing her face. 

What could Mr. Cedric possibly be doing EVERY full moon?

MAJOR SPOILERS FOR SHIFTING SHADOWS

I do not understand why Sky had to be separated from Rock.

I understand he killed Rain. He broke the Code. BUT it was due to The Rage. Which is said to effect ALL bull elephants in Bravelands. Boulder and his entire herd broke out in The Rage right after chasing Rock away. Boulder knew Sky would get killed or hurt by another bull so he chased her away. How can accidentally killing another bull or doing what Rock did to Rain not be at least slightly common?

Not to mention Dune went out of his way to kill Artful when she was already mangled and dying. That wasn't very "only kill to survive of you" bro. Titanpride retreated. He wasn't fighting for his life. But I'm sure the brothers of his herd understood it because Titan killed his son, Moon.

Rock did not deserve Sky's blunt rejection. He was clearly remorseful about what he did to Rain. He loved Sky dearly and promised not to hurt her. If anything Sky could have just seen the danger of staying alongside a bull elephant outside of their season to mate. Her aunts warned her about that. She could have separated from Rock but promised to see him again when it was the right time. Allowing her to separate from him and focus on finding the Great Parent, but also not giving up on Rock and in turn, love.

Rock had proven his loyalty to Sky in 2 and a half books only to get chased off in Shifting Shadows. It doesn't feel right. Can't Sky love Rock and also be dutiful to the Great Spirit?

I hope Rock shows back up and can mend ties with Sky. They both deserve to be happy. 2 books left before I am caught up. I'm starting The Spirit Eaters tonight.
