when i was 12 i babysat this girl for a few years and she would come to me and show me her art, drag me by my wrists and point at the pieces she’d made during the week. and she’d be like “do the voice” and i’d put on a sports-announcer olympics-style voice and be like “such form! this level of coloring! why i haven’t seen such perfection in crayola in a long time. and what is this? why jeff, now this is a true risk… it seems she’s made … a monochrome pink canvas…. i haven’t seen this attempted since winter 1932… and i gotta say, jeff, it’s absolutely splendid”  and she’d fall back giggling. at the end of every night she’d check with me: “did you really like it?” and i’d say yes and talk about something i noticed and tucked her in.
she was just accepted into 3 major art schools. she wrote me a letter. inside was a picture from when she was younger. monochrome pink.
“thank you,” it said, “to somebody who saw the best in me.”

This is the kind of message I want to send out as well to all the followers here! :)
This piece is so lovely and does such a great job of explaining how the mods here feel about supporting and encouraging other artists.

SEND THE LOVE AROUND
A few weeks ago I was feeling pretty down. I was having trouble with a person and I was feeling very underappreciated as an artist, and while I did have my problems, it pissed me a lot. But instead of feeling sorry for myself (for once) I started thinking about other great, awesome artists I followed who could be feeling even shittier and not believing in themselves.
I admire them; each one of them. Each had their own perks that made themselves and what they create special. And I realized that hell, I love being told what people like in my work. Not just “you’re so good”, but “I love the way you draw this and that”. At that moment, I really wished someone would come over and tell me that. How many other artists around weren’t feeling that way, at that moment?
So the messaging started. I never wrote a model message, they were all personal. And the answers were all personal too. People who responded sounded honestly happy someone took time to tell them what they admired in them, and told them never to give up no matter what. The ones who didn’t, well - I know they liked it, because it was from the bottom of my heart.
So after this time debating if I should write this little thing or not, I made it.  I don’t know if there’s anythig similar around, but if it does, take this as a reinforcement. It’s not a campaign, nor a meme, nor will it grant you favours from your favorite artists. Please, don’t do anything if it’s for interest. Instead, look at the artist as another human being who struggles with daily life and yet make such beautiful things you admire so much. Call them by their name, tell them what you like in them. Or draw, paint, write or compose a lil’ something for them. Doesn’t matter. Show appreciation.
Send the love around to those who inspire you.
(sorry for any mistakes, English is not my mother tongue and it’s a bit rusty)

Boost the work you like and let the artist know you care about the effort they put into their work! Let them know you appreciate their work!
Any time you enjoy a piece!
I know plenty of you are video game and cartoon fans and there will be plenty of fanart Friday's in the future so I'm positive you will all see artwork you enjoy.
Also please be sure to encourage the people brave enough to submit their work for critique. It can be a scary thing when your starting out!

Remember this blog is for the mods and the followers to let each other know what we like about our work!
If you like a piece reblog it and let the artist know what you liked about it!
These people are comfortable with receiving compliments, so you won’t be weirding them out or embarrassing them by letting them know you like their art!
Give your good feeling a voice! It helps the artist and you will feel great about it I promise.

@jpattonart btw! I love the composition as well! I like how the movement lifts the eyes to the top of the triangle and then the dripping off the eye in the center on down brings the eyes back down through the comp! Very lovely!!!

Attention Bloggers! Regarding Critique!
Please keep in mind this blog is very new.
First and foremost we want to spread positivity freely.
Henceforth we will be having Special Critique Days
Days where we make a post asking you to send in links to the work you would like critiqued!
Once we have received the links through submission at the end of the night we will work on posting them. One of the mods will reblog with a critique and ask others to follow suit. We will spread out posting them through out the week when we have time.
You’ll be @’ed when the work is reblogged so you will be notified of the initial critique and you’ll be able to keep an eye on our activity feed or simply check the notes on the post to see when others reblog your work with their own critique. We encourage all rebloggers to @ the artist as well!
♥ ❤ ♥ ❤ ♥ ❤ ♥ ❤ ♥ ❤ ♥ ❤ ♥ ❤ ♥ ❤ ♥ ♥ ❤ ♥ ❤ ♥ ❤ ♥ ❤ ♥ ❤ ♥ ❤ ♥ ❤ ♥ ❤ ♥
The reason for this change is as it stand I will now be closer to working 50 hours a week. I work customer service and holiday season is getting intense.
It will likely be this way until May.
But! I am very passionate about giving as much help as I can in my spare time away from work!
Thank you for reading!

Hi! Mod Loof here!
------------------------------------------------
@halfpastrandom Submitted a link to this artwork so we could reblog it and give Positive Feedback with Constructive Criticism. Thank you hpr!
Personally, I find this really cute! :D I haven’t seen anyone comment on this aspect of it yet, but the variation of line weight is really nice! To me, line weight really helps sell a drawing and draw me in.
It could use a bit of tweaking though! For example the paws make this the clearest, your thicker lines are up top where the light is concentrated with thinner lines at the bottom where there is shadow. All you’d have to do for the paws is reverse that!  Here is a video that explains what I mean a little bit better!
vimeo
I think My favorite part of this whole picture is the attention to detail on the feet! :D
I also like the general face shape of the cat that you chose, reminds me a little of the old cartoons I used to watch. Almost a little like Tom from Tom and Jerry. I think those little poofs of fur on the left and right sides toward the bottom is so cute!
Also I can’t tell if reference was used. Always remember to post up any reference used! :) It helps you, the photographer/original artist/ and it helps us reccommend what can be tweaked when we critique!
All in all this is very sweet and very cute!
♥ ❤ ♥ ❤ ♥ ❤ ♥ ❤ ♥ ❤ ♥ ❤ ♥ ❤ ♥ ❤ ♥
This is where our followers come in! :) Please reblog this and send in critique similar to what I have written above.
Point out the positives you enjoy and would like to see more of, and point out what you think could be changed to help them improve and push their style!

Om nom nom nom.
I was feeling down, so I decided to draw the cutest thing I could think of - a kitten with a cookie.
Paint Tool Sai was the program used, I’ve only used it for one other picture and there was a lot of “How does this work?!” going on while I fumbled around. This was an exploration of the watercolour brush.
