the material of the universe is eternal

from the death of a star

to the birth of a girl

plant a star on my cheek

place the moon in my hands

watch my life come to an end

in a beautifully destructive end

love

I’m surrounded by people who love

But when I think about love

I just can’t comprehend it

There are plenty of other things I can’t comprehend

Like schrodinger's cat

Or the origins of our universe

I just can’t seem to wrap my head around it

It seems like an impossible concept to me

And yet there are so many people

Who are able to perceive these theories

It doesn’t quite bother me

That I can’t understand quantum mechanics

Although one thing I so dearly wish I could grasp

Is love

I live inside my head

As if I’m a prisoner to my own mind

I’m housed in the grooves of my brain

In between the folds of tissue

I’m rotting in the warmth of my blood

It’s lonely in here

I eat pills for breakfast

And I hold myself when I cry

I find peace in the silence

But sometimes

It becomes too much to bear
