Summary: You got sick after a mission :(
Pairing: Natasha Romanoff x Reader
Warnings: None, fluff
Words: 1.8k
A/n: Heyy! I know it’s been a while :( But! I tried writing this one so I hope you like it! :))
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
“Fuck my life.” You muttered, letting your body fall to the mattress in front of you. It’s been a tough day and being sick was the last thing you needed right now.
You just came back from a solo mission, nothing too dangerous, you managed to come back without many issues, only a few scratches.
But you caught a cold since you had to literally jump from a bridge into a river in order to escape.
That’s great.
And you hated being sick.
The wetness on your suit made you groan and stand back up to change your clothes.
All you wanted to do now was lay on your bed and sleep. By the temperature of your body you could tell you had a fever. You felt absolute shit.
Natasha was on a mission, she was away for nearly two days. You didn’t have the chance to talk since it was a dangerous one and calling her would probably get her in trouble. You knew that she would come back today, Fury told you that.
The rest of the team were probably downstairs doing whatever and they didn’t even saw you entering the building.
Except from Wanda.
She saw you while you entered the elevator on her way to the kitchen. Just by looking at you she could tell that you were tired, so while you began changing she started cooking a meal for you down in the kitchen.
Wanda knew that a soup would definitely make you feel better.
After taking a hot shower you finally changed into warm clothes. Some grey sweats and one of your t-shirts that Natasha stole from you. You sniffed it, taking in her smell. A gentle smile was brought on your lips as your body collided on top of the mattress.
The exact same moment you heard a knock on your bedroom door making you instantly groan.
“Y/n? Can I come in?” You heard Wanda’s voice from the other side of the door.
“It’s unlocked.” You called out as Wanda opened the door and entered.
“How are you feeling?” The brunette asked making you throw your head back into your pillow.
“Like shit.” You mumbled as the woman started walking towards you, a bowl of warm soup on her hands. “What’s this?” You scanned it curiously with your eyes.
“What do you think it is? It’s soup, dumbass.” She chuckled, placing it on top of your drawer beside the bed. “You have a fever? She asked you.
“Maybe.. I don’t know.” You shrugged, sitting on the bed with your back against the bed frame. Wanda handed you the bowl with the warm soup as you brought the spoon in your mouth, tasting it. You nodded approvingly. Whatever Wanda cooks never fails to impress you.
“Let me see.” She said, leaning towards you and placing her palm over your forehead. “You’re burning..” She muttered before standing up and going into the bathroom, a few seconds later she came back with a box of antibiotics. She also grabbed a water bottle from your desk before sitting beside you on the bed.
“Here. You take these after you finish your soup.” Wanda said, placing them on top of the drawer.
“Thank you, Wands.” You nodded before continuing eating as the brunette smiled.
“When’s Natasha coming back?” She asked making you look up at her before shrugging.
“I don’t know.. She’s supposed to be today.”
“Why don’t you ask her?”
“I can’t. Fury says it’s too dangerous.” You shook your head before staring at a random corner of your room. Oh how much you wished Natasha was here right now.. It’s not like you didn’t enjoy Wanda’s company, it’s just that you just missed your girlfriend.
You wanted to have her here, safe with you. You’ve spent many lonely days without her, where you would wake up alone and you’d have to worry every second of the day if she’s okay out there.
The same with Natasha. Whenever you were on a mission, she’s spent her days alone, waiting for you to come home.
You two cared deeply and loved each other.
“Hey. Relax, she’s okay. Maybe she’ll come back later.” Wanda reassured you as she could hear your thoughts. You muttered a small ‘yeah’ before finishing with your soup.
After taking the antibiotics you laid back down, Wanda helping you get under the warm blankets. “Thanks.” You smiled as she nodded before grabbing the empty bowl and walking towards the door.
“Get some sleep, Natasha will be back when you’re awake.” She smiled before she turned away, turning off the lights and getting out of the room.
Shortly after you felt your eyes closing as deep sleep took over you.
**
Natasha had just landed with the quinjet in front of the Avengers compound. Looking up at the dark sky she wondered if you were still awake. Nick informed her that you had gone to a mission while she was away and you already came back. She couldn’t wait to see you again, she haven’t heard your voice for a few days and she missed it.
It was around 1am when she entered the kitchen for a quick meal before going to your room. She didn’t think that anyone would be awake at this time since tomorrow most of the team had a mission assigned. She was wrong though, when she entered the room her eyes found Wanda, sitting there on a chair beside the counter.
“Hello there.” Wanda smiled at the red head.
She couldn’t sleep so she chose to come downstairs to drink some water. She was a bit confused as to why Natasha was that late. Wanda thought that the red head would come back early.
“Hey, what are you doing here?” Natasha asked with a raised brow.
“Couldn’t sleep. How was your mission?” She questioned with a soft smile on her lips, she was happy to see Natasha was okay. They were great friends, Natasha was like a big sister to the brunette and since she was dating her best friend that made them more close.
“It was fine. Nothing I couldn’t handle.” The red headed woman smirked before moving towards the fridge, getting the ingredients out to make a quick sandwich.
Natasha noticed Wanda’s silence while making her sandwich so she turned towards the brunette with a questioning look. “Everything alright?”
“Kind of..” She began as the other woman raised one eyebrow, waiting for her to continue. Wanda sighed before saying. “It’s Y/n..”
At that Natasha’s eyes widened with a frightened look on her face. She tried to stop the bad thoughts from crossing her mind but she wasn’t that good. But Fury told her everything was okay, that the mission was successful. Why would he lie about Y/n’s well being?
“Hey. Nothing bad happened to her. She’s just a bit sick.” Wanda said, walking closer to Natasha with a comforting smile.
“What do you mean sick?” Natasha asked, looking into Wanda’s eyes.
“I went to check on her after she came back and she had a fever. She’s alright, I gave her some antibiotics and she went to sleep.” Wanda explained, trying to calm her friend down.
Natasha simply nodded before smiling gently at Wanda, she finished making the sandwich before taking a bite. “Thank you, she’s lucky to have a friend like you..”
“Oh please, you’re both lucky to have a friend like me.” Wanda teased her, trying to lighten up the moment.
“Fuck off.” Natasha chuckled.
The brunette nodded with a smirk before looking the time at her phone. “It’s late, we should go to sleep.”
Natasha nodded as she began walking beside Wanda. They left the kitchen and walked towards the bedrooms. When they stopped in front of Wanda’s door they said their good nights and Natasha continued walking towards your bedroom.
Until then she had finished her sandwich as she gently opened your door, trying not to wake you up. She smiled at the sight of you sleeping under the covers.
After changing in more comfortable clothes -some shorts she had left inside your closet and one of your T-shirts she stole from you a few weeks ago- she finally laid beside you on the bed. She moved slowly trying not to disturb your sleep, Natasha laid her head against your chest, hearing your soft heart beat. With a smile on her face she kissed gently the skin on your neck and closed her eyes.
Soon after sleep took over her as you two laid there in each others arms.
**
Light shined through the windows in your bedroom, making you blink a few times your eyes as you started waking up.
Your throat still felt a bit sore but you felt better than last night.
You tried moving your body but you were locked there, looking down you saw a pair of hands holding onto your waist. As you were now fully awake you felt soft breaths on the back of your neck.
A smile was brought on your face as you realised who the person behind you was.
You placed your hands on top of Natasha’s, running your fingertips through hers. You felt her breath hitch as you let out a quiet chuckle. Pulling away from her and turning your body around facing your redhead.
She immediately hid her face in the crook of your neck as you grinned. “Good morning, love.”
“Morning.” You heard her mumble against your neck before leaving a kiss on it. “How are you feeling?”
“A little better..” You nodded with a smile. Wanda must told her about you feeling sick. “How was your mission?” You asked her as she sighed before pulling away from your neck, you stared into her eyes with a soft smile.
“It was okay, what about yours?”
“Great as you can see.” You chuckled, “I should have thought of a better exit plan..” You said as she frowned, waiting for you to explain. Letting out a sigh you said, “I kind of had to jump into a river.. That’s how I got the cold, I guess..”
“You’re stupid.” She shook her head with an unbelievable look on her face.
“Hey! I’m not..” You frowned, crossing your arms.
“Sure.” She simply nodded before cracking a smile. “Come here, you dumbass.” Natasha said, grabbing the hem of your shirt and pulling you into her, crushing your lips. You kissed her back as she gently nibbled on your lips.
As the air became a problem you pulled away, you had a stupid smile on your face as she rolled her eyes. “I missed you..” You spoke.
She grinned before hugging you gently, “I missed you too, darling.”
You laid there together for a few more minutes. Enjoying the silence between you two. Life was great actually, as long as you had your girlfriend beside you. After months of being together, you never stopped enjoying her presence. It was like the universe sent her to you.

Part 1
Summary: studying with Hermione. That’s fun, right?
Pairing: Hermione Granger x gn!reader
Warnings: None, fluff
Words: 1.6k
A/n: Happy new year everyone! First post of the year 😆 i stayed up so late last night in order to write this and because of my tiredness im sure they’ll be a lot of mistakes there so im sorry for that. (: Enjoy!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Frustration washed over you as you closed the book sitting in front of you. You’ve been studying for a few hours, it was a tiring day if you were to be honest. Classes ended around lunch time and after that you run immediately to the library for a last study session before Christmas holidays.
Many people would think that was weird, most of the students were already celebrating and packing their bags to go back home, but you. Since you would be staying at Hogwarts, you wanted to get over with your homework so you could enjoy holidays without having to worry about schoolwork. So that’s what you did, after a long 4 hours you finally finished. You packed your things and got ready to leave, already making plans about passing by your dorm to leave your school stuff before going a walk to Hogsmeade.
You begun walking towards the exit but stopped when your eyes found a figure sitting at a table on your left. She had her back facing you so that meant she didn’t even know you were standing there. You took in the girl in front of you, she had her head buried in a book in front of her and more books stacked on her left.
It was only two days since your encounter on the astronomy’s tower. You hadn’t talked since then, sure you’d seen her in the hallways, you would share soft smiles and you’d stare at her during class. But you hadn’t been alone together since that night. You couldn’t help but rethink about that day, how you felt comfortable around her, how it felt right. You’d agreed to spend Christmas together and that made you to look forward to it.
Taking in a breath, your legs brought you closer to her table without your consent. The brunette looked up, clearly aware of you standing there. The moment her eyes found yours she let out a smile, “Y/n.. Hey.” She greeted, before dropping her book back to the table and straightening her back, now having all her attention to you.
That made you more confident so you smiled back, “I didn’t know you were here..” You said and moving closer to sit on a chair across from her.
“I came here about thirty minutes ago, I’m trying to finish schoolwork before holidays start..” She mentioned to the books around her but pushed them further so she could look at you better. “What are you doing here? Are you stalking me?” She gasped dramatically, a small smile playing on her lips.
“Haha, you wish. You know, I had the same thought. Though, I’m already done with my homework.” You teased her, crossing your arms on your chest.
“What? Are you serious?” Hermione asked, clearly shocked. You nodded and she breathed out, looking back down on her books. “Good for you..” She murmured.
After a few seconds of silence you cleared your throat successfully getting her attention. Hermione bobbed her head up, looking at your in question.
“You need any help?” A small smirk played on your lips as you sat there. You watched as she rolled her eyes, “No, thank you.” She said and looked back downwards. But you could see her mouth curved into a small smile from where you sat. That made you smile too, it was the second time you’ve been with her alone, and it still felt just as relaxing as the first time.
A few minutes passed with you just staring at the brown haired girl, she just looked so peaceful just sitting there. Until you heard Hermione’s voice, she didn’t look up again as she knew you were listening. “Don’t you have anything else to do?” She asked, noting something on her notebook. “I mean, you already finished your work. Why don’t you go enjoy the rest of the day? Is it that fun watching me study?”
“If I’m being honest, yes. It’s fun. I enjoy watching you.” You grinned. Hermione bit her lip, staring at you with a face you couldn’t quite understand.
She let out a laugh, going back down on her work. “You’re weird.” She commented, at that you smiled wider.
“Maybe I am. Now, do you want to accept my offer of help or do you want to be here until tomorrow?” You said, raising an eyebrow. She looked up and took a breath. “You know you’re a bit annoying, right?” She asked and you tried to look offended but you quickly laughed.
“Yeah, I know..” You agreed and leaned back in your chair.
“Okay.” She suddenly said and you looked at her in confusion. “Okay, I accept your offer of help.. But only because I want to get it done quickly.” She explained and you moved to sit on the chair beside her. Your shoulders slightly touching hers. You could feel the warmth of her skin even with all those layers you two wore.
Taking a look at her notes you let out a laugh, “Come on, that’s easy.”
“Yes, I know it’s easy, you dumb. I would have finished it if you’d stop talking all the time..” She joked and bumped her shoulder to yours.
“Okay, okay. Let’s solve it together.” You said and picked her pencil to note something on her notebook.
An hour and a half later you let out a breath, pushing the books away from you and leaning backwards. “Wow, that was fast..” Hermione smiled and closed the book in front of her, agreeing with you. “It was.. Thank you for helping me..”
“It was nothing, really. I’m happy to be in your services.” You smiled and stood up, stretching your back. “What are you doing now?” You asked as Hermione stood beside you, putting her books in her bag.
“I’m thinking about going to bed.. It was a tiring day.” She said with tired eyes, and you nodded. “You should go too.” Again all you did again was nod your head and pull your bag over your shoulder waiting for Hermione to get to your side.
Hermione noticed your quietness and looked at you, “What’s going on?” She asked, worry in her eyes.
You shook your head, “Nothing, it’s just that I can’t really sleep the past few days. I mean, I sleep a few hours. But I constantly wake up at night and sometimes I can’t go back to sleep.” You paused as Hermione reached your side and you started walking towards the exit. “I wish that my mind could stop thinking and worrying so I could just sleep for a bit..”
Hermione looked at you with sad eyes, but no the ones with pity. She looked like she was worried about you, like she was feeling your pain. “I can try to find a spell to make you sleep better..?” She offered and you couldn’t help but smile at that. She really was so caring.
You slightly shook your head, “It’s okay, don’t worry about it. I think I’m just gonna take some pills to make me sleepy.” You opened the door for Hermione to get out before getting out yourself. “Even though I’m going to be like a zombie the whole day.” You tried to joke as you walked through the hallways.
“Alright, but if you ever change your mind. I’ll be happy to help you..” She offered and reached for your hand, giving it a soft squeeze. “Thanks, Hermione.” After that you stayed quiet as you walked her towards her common room.
After saying your goodbyes you turned and walked to Slytherins common room, walking straight to your dorm. Throwing your bag down on the floor beside your desk.
One of your roommates was there, Astoria. She was also your friend. Her and Hestia. Those two have always been your best friends.
“Where have you been all day? I’ve been searching you everywhere.” Astoria asked, closing her bag and moving to sit on your bed.
“After classes were over I went to the library to study.” You replied, moving to grab your notebook from your bag. With it in your hands you sat down beside your friend. “Why missed me?” You teased her.
“Yeah, right.” She laughed as Hestia entered the room.
“What’s going on? Why is she laughing?” Hestia asked, completely confused about your other friend.
You shook your head, chuckling as you opened your notebook, looking at the sketches you made not awhile ago. A voice beside your ear scared you and you raised your head looking at the person beside you weirdly.
“Y/n started drawing again! Hestia, come here.” Your annoying friend said as she took the notebook from your hands, walking towards Hestia to show her.
The both of them looked at you, waiting for you to talk. “What?” You asked.
“Don’t ‘what’ us. You haven’t touched that notebook for awhile. It took me by surprise.” Astoria said, walking to you and handing you your sketchbook back.
“Oh, yeah..” You said, awkwardly not knowing what to say.
Hestia was the one to talk now, more calmly than Astoria. “How are you feeling lately, Y/n?” She asked.
“Fine, I guess.. I mean, I still have trouble at sleeping but..” You started, your hands finding your bed seats to fiddle with.
“But?” The girl in front of you pressed.
“I met someone. A few nights ago, when I went on a walk.” You weren’t sure if you wanted to tell your friends about Hermione yet. Did Hermione even told Harry and Ron about you?
“And? That’s it?” Astoria asked, clearly not convinced that this was it.
“Kind of, we’ve only hanged out two times. We don’t really know each other..” You said, not really wanting to continue. You knew that was a big discussion and right now all you wanted to do was sleep.
“Alright.. Well, when you feel ready you can tell us about them, okay?” Hestia said, giving you a soft smile and moving back to her bed. Astoria nodded along and went to her own.
“Thank you, really..” You smiled as you three got ready for bed. After exchanging goodnights you let sleep take over you.

Part 2
Summary: Things have been rough lately, Christmas are getting closer and you find yourself on top of the astronomy’s tower to clear your head. But who knew that this night you would meet someone so special to you.
Pairing: Hermione Granger x gn!reader
Tw: depression? Fluff
Words: 2.2k
A/n: Last post for the 2023 year, this one was in my drafts and I was planning to write more. I guess now it’s going to be more parts (?) If you guys like it (:
Tumblr media
It was late, past midnight for sure. You couldn’t sleep, you weren’t even tired. You just laid there in your bed facing the ceiling. You always had that problem, not being able to sleep, but tonight your insomnia was worse than usual. Also your depressing thoughts didn’t help that much tonight. You would usually read a book or talk with your roommates until you felt tired but this time you knew it wouldn’t work. It was already late and everybody was sleeping. So you decided to do the one thing that you were sure it would work. Going on a walk around the castle.
Even though you didn’t do that very often, you always enjoyed it. Walking through the dark halls of the castle was something comforting to you, it made you feel free and relaxed. Your favourite place was the astronomy tower. Other people would think that it was crazy, walking around all alone in the darkness. But to you, it was comforting, it was the only time of the day that you were really alone. It was the only time where you could think clearly and be alone with your thoughts.
You put on your shoes quickly, grabbing your wand and sweater on the way to the door. Before you exited you pulled the cloth on and took one last glance behind you at your sleeping roommates. You walked quickly through the common room and outside in the hallway. It was kind of chilly out and you were thankful that you took your sweater with you. It was near Christmas days and probably in a few days snow would cover all over the place. Winter was your favourite season, you loved snow and you loved cold weather.
Climbing the stairs to the astronomy’s tower you couldn’t help but think about the holidays. Almost everyone would go back to their families to celebrate, but you. It’s not like you had anyone to go back to. Your friends had already planned going home so you were the only one staying at Hogwarts.
When you finally reached the top of the tower you started walking towards the railing. You looked down at the lake and mountains taking in the view. A soft cough made you turn back, taking in a sight of another person sitting at the steps. How did you not notice that there was already someone there. But then again, nobody usually came there, especially at this late hour. You started walking closer, trying to see who was there, only to be met with a pair of brown eyes. The moonlight shined through them, making them glow. “I’m sorry I didn’t know that there was someone already there..” You apologised to the girl in front of you. She had a book sitting on her lap and her wand on her right hand.
“It’s alright, not many people come here so I was also kind of shocked when I saw you walk up the stairs.” You heard her voice, it was soft and gentle. She had a beautiful voice, an angelic one. You stood there in front of the girl, not knowing what to say as you were at a loss of words. Usually that didn’t happen, but there was something about that girl, it made you nervous. You never really interacted with her, sure you’d hear her talking while in class as you two shared a few classes together, such as potions and charms. But you never introduced yourselves to each other. You realised you hadn’t said anything so you cleared your throat and let a small smile.
“That’s true. I was also shocked to find you up here, I don’t come here often, only when I need some quiet, you know?” You said, beginning to walk towards her. You took a seat beside her, not too far but not too close, you didn’t want to make her uncomfortable.
“Trust me, I know. I come here for the same reason, this place has something unique. I like to read books here, other days I just sit and watch the stars on the sky.” She spoke so quietly, closing her book and slightly turning her body towards you, “I believe we’ve never got to introduce ourselves, I’m Hermione Granger.” She smiled and extended her hand for you to shake.
You happily took it with yours, “That’s a lovely name. I’m Y/n. Y/n Y/l/n.” You nodded with a little smile, of course you knew her last name. You had heard countless times the professors calling her “Miss Granger”. But you’ve never got to know her first name until now and you couldn’t help yourself but to compliment her. Not going to lie, you always had a little crush on her deep down. Even though you’ve never spoke to her, every time she was in the same room you eyes would always find her.
But you never had the courage to go and actually talk to her, you were that much of a coward. You also couldn’t talk about her to your Slytherin friends, since they would probably curse you about her being a Gryffindor and a “mudblood”. You didn’t like that word, it was really offending. As a Slytherin, many would thought that you would be the classic stereotype. You were a pure blood, but you didn’t have any problems with muggleborns. You actually had many friends from other houses that were muggleborns.
You watched as Hermione slightly blushed and tried to hide it. Pulling a strand behind her ear, she smiled. “Y/n, it sounds unique.” At that you let out a laugh, “Oh believe me, it’s not that unique. My parents gave it to me after they read it on a book.. My dad was like a bookworm back in the day as he had told me, I bet he didn’t have to try hard to find a name for his child.” You chuckled, thinking about him was sad. It all happened so fast that you still hadn’t got used to it even after all these years.“I like it.” Hermione giggled as it was time for you to blush. Wow taking a compliment from Hermione was the best feeling.
“So, what were you reading?” You asked, moving closer to her to take a look from the cover of her book.
“Oh that? It’s nothing, just a stupid book I bought last summer. I didn’t get to finish it, I usually only read school books. But I can’t deny it, it’s really good.” She spoke, taking the book in her hands and showing you the familiar cover.
“So you’re like a little bookworm? I already knew that you’re a great student but reading school books only?” You teased her, “that’s a great book by the way, I read it once. The end had me crying for two days, but I won’t be spoiling you anything else.” You added with a chuckle as you playfully bumped your shoulder with hers.
“I’m not a bookworm, I just like reading books and studying. But it’s not like I have my head inside a book the whole time..” She said, trying to act offended but you could she the small smirk on her lips. You muttered a “yeah right.”and she smacked you playfully on your shoulder making you two laugh. After you calmed down she spoke again, “So what made you come up here? You said you needed quiet.” Hermione asked, looking up to your eyes.
“Oh you know, just life..” You sighed, turning away not really knowing what to say. “I couldn’t sleep. Lately I’ve been thinking a lot, I have so many things on my mind and it’s getting kind of crowded in there. So I tend to escape from all of this, even if it is for a bit.”
Thoughts of your dead father and your alcoholic mother who got herself lost came into your mind without your consent. Thinking about the things you could do to avoid all of these shit to happen. You came up here to escape from all of these but here you are now thinking about it.
A soft hand on your shoulder brought you back to the present as you turned on your right, looking at those brown eyes. “I get that, I know it hurts not being able to escape from your thoughts. But if you ever want to talk to somebody, just know that I’m here and I’d love to hear you.” She smiled comforting at you. There was something about her, you couldn’t exactly catch on it but it felt familiar. You found comfort around her.
“Thank you, Hermione.” You tried your best to smile and leaned back against the wall behind you.
“I have to say, I’m surprised..” She spoke suddenly after a few minutes of silence. You turned to look at her, your face full of curiosity. “You’re nice to me, even though you’re a Slytherin and I’m a Gryffindor, our houses hate each other, and here you are being nice towards me.”
“Not all Slytherins are bad, Hermione.. I mean sure, there is a small hate between our houses but I don’t really care about all of these. Those stereotypes about the Slytherins being evil is an absolute lie in my opinion. It’s just the human character.” You sighed, you never hated Gryffindors. It was the opposite actually, you respected them. They were brave and loyal, well the most of them at least.
“Yes I know, I’m sorry I didn’t want it to come out mean. I just thought that you might be like the others. You know, Malfoy, Parkinson and the others. They usually like to call us names and I’m pretty sure they really, really hate us.” Hermione explained.
I nodded in understatement, “Yeah, they like to uh, bully people..” You and Draco were friends the first year, but eventually when you saw how he treated others you confronted him. Nothing changed so you decided to leave, you didn’t support him for that. He would have been a great person if he wasn’t that much of a jerk and a bully. You also almost punched him when you heard him calling Hermione a “mudblood”, Potter was quicker than you as he casted a spell throwing him on the wall behind him. That happened last year but it still made you angry as you imagined how many times Malfoy had bullied the girl beside you. “Hey, I’m sorry for that. They’re jerks for doing that.”
“It’s okay, you don’t have to apologise for them. I’m used to it by now.” She said trying to smile but you knew that she pretended to be okay with it. It pained you seeing her like that. You scooted closer, placing your arm around her shoulders and pulling her towards you.
“Got any plans for Christmas holidays?” You asked, trying to change the subject. You started running your thumb over her arm, waiting for her to talk.
“Not really, I’ll just stay here this year. Harry and Ron also decided to stay so we will spent the holidays together.” She mumbled as her head laid on your torso. Hermione liked your touch, it was comforting and warm. “What about you?” She added, looking up to you with those eyes.
“Well, I love spending Christmas at Hogwarts, it’s really beautiful here and peaceful when almost half the school isn’t here..” You chuckled, it wasn’t really a lie. It was just one of the reasons why you stayed. The other one being because even if you went home, there would be no one there. So you preferred not being alone in a house that brought you so much memories.
“Oh well, we can spend it together then!” Hermione said with an excited voice, “if you haven’t already planned with your friends, of course..” She added, feeling a bit of nervousness. What if you didn’t want to?
“Yeah, sure. I’d love to spent it with you. All of my friends will be going home anyways so I wasn’t planning anything.” You said, your voice also expressed excitement as you looked down at Hermione.
She smiled and blushed, probably you did too. You stayed like this for longer, just enjoying the company of one other. Eventually you had to go back to sleep so you two began walking back to your dorms. You offered to walk Hermione to her common room, after her denying it and you saying that you’d love to. You found yourselves making a small talk while walking the nearly dark hallways. Eventually you stopped outside of the fat lady’s portrait, you turned to Hermione who stood there looking at you.
“I had a great night, Hermione. Thank you.” You smiled, watching the brown eyed girl smile back at you.
“No, thank you. I liked your company, you’re really not that boring..” She teased you and you laughed quietly at that.
“I’ll see you tomorrow?” You asked with a hopeful voice.
“Definitely.” She confirmed.
“Good night, Hermione.”
“Good night, Y/n.” You watched as she turned around and said the password to the portrait. She then got inside and turned one last time, giving you a smile before she disappeared inside the tunnel. With that you turned and left with a grin on your face. You were tired but you couldn’t stop thinking about her. The moment your head hit the bed you fell immediately asleep, having dreams about that beautiful girl you met today at the astronomy tower.

Why do you have to be so stupid?
Summary: stupidity gets you killed. (Nearly)

Words: 3.5k
a/n: This is my second work I’ve posted here, I had wrote this a few days ago and I decided to post it. Even tho nobody’s gonna read this, but hey if you’re a reader here. Hi! 🫶🏼🥹

The sky was dark, the moon and the stars were shining bright that night. I walked through the dark alley, feeling my blood running down my stomach. The mission didn’t go as planned. It seemed that they already knew I was coming, they were ready. I put on a good fight and got the flash drive, but it wasn’t enough for me to escape. The moment I heard the gunshots and felt a sharp pain on my body, I knew that I needed to leave. They were too many, I was only one. I couldn’t call for back up. Nobody from the team knew that I was going to that mission. Fury had said it was too dangerous for someone to go alone, he was planning on bringing the whole team there in a few days. But it would be too late in a few days. I knew it was a stupid decision, but I wanted to help the team. Even though the mission was a success, my chances to survive were very low. The bullet wounds al over my body looked serious.
Standing with my back against the wall, I tried to breathe. I had already lost a lot of blood, I was feeling so weak and my vision was blurry. That was it. That was the way I would die. Not by some heroic act, but because I was an idiot for having to go alone there without telling anyone. I started to think about my friends, back at the compound. The avengers had become my family. I thought about Tony and his sarcastic comments, I thought about what he would say if he saw me like this. Tony was like a father to me, the father I never had. I thought about Steve, that old man.. He would probably lecture me if he was here, telling me that I need to think before acting.
Bruce. We were never that close with the man but I’ve always respected him. He was a very clever guy, he had also saved me from many dumb injuries. Thor. I didn’t see him that often nowadays, he had go back to Asgard something about having to deal with his idiotic brother, Loki. He would always tell me stories about other planets and people he had met. I was closer to Clint from the other guys. I could say he was a great friend and very loyal to me as I was to him. He was a great spy, and he was usually the one I trained with.
Wanda would be probably mad at me if she saw me like this. She had scolded me many times, usually when I made dumb decisions like this one. But we loved each other, we were friends since day one. We were always by each other’s side. I didn’t want to leave her alone in this world, even though she had the rest of the team. I was the only closest person to her, as she had said many times before.
And Natasha… I slid down the wall, wincing as the bullets inside me moved. I clenched my fist as I pressed down on my biggest wound. I didn’t want Natasha to see me like this. Even though she was used to seeing people dying, I couldn’t do this to her. I didn’t want to die. Natasha was a closed person, only Clint and I were able to read her as an open book. I couldn’t leave her alone. I brought my hand to my neck, touching the necklace she had gave to me. A small golden spider was hanging from it, with her initials engraved on the back of it. It was a gift for my 23rd birthday. It was the best day of my life that day.
I started thinking about how things would be after my death. I guessed I still had a bit of time left. I used to want to end it all. In my teenage years. Back then it was hard for me. I had no one to call family. No friends. I was close to that railing, so close to my death. Ready to jump off, I was so done with my life. But she was the one who saw me, she was the one who ran up to me and tried to call me down so I wouldn’t jump. And she succeeded. She saved me from killing my own self. Natasha Romanoff, she saved my life. Many times. She was my person. And I loved her.
But now she couldn’t save me. Right know she thought that I was out for a simple walk. Eventually she would start to realise something was wrong after I was gone for hours. She would start looking for me, calling me, calling the team. Then they would all search for me, until they’d finally get the news that I was dead. All because I couldn’t stop being stupid.
Looking one more time up in the sky, I whispered softly more to myself. “I’m sorry..” Breathing out, I tried to find my peace but the universe had other plans. Footsteps were heard in the distance, every second it was louder until it reached in front of me. I tried to open my eyes, trying to figure out who was standing in front of me. When I felt soft hands on my face, I opened my mouth to speak but was stopped by a familiar voice speaking louder to someone in the distance. “I found her! She’s here, come help me.”
Finally, when my eyes focused again I recognised the person in front of me. Those familiar green eyes, and the familiar red hair made me smile a bit and whisper. “Hey, love..” I watched as her lips curled up in a soft smile, but her eyes remained worried. “Hey, sweetheart..”
I went to talk but a pain on my chest kept me from speaking. Natasha was quick to notice and she pressed her palm against my cheek, carefully caressing it. “Don’t speak too much, дорогой. We will get you out of here, just hang on..” She said as she pressed her lips to my forehead and turned around as more footsteps began to appear around us.
“The jet’s ready, we can get her inside now..” I heard Steve’s voice from my left. “Is she okay?” He asked Natasha.
“She will be when we get her home. Come on guys, we need to move.” Natasha said as she gave me a soft squeeze before she stood back up. “Damn it, y/n. When will you stop being stupid..” Hearing Clint’s voice made me feel so bad. They were all worried about me, they didn’t deserve what they were going through because of me. “I’m -I’m sorry..” I whispered but it was enough for the team to hear it.
“It’s okay, y/n.. You’re gonna be okay..” A soft hand landed gently on my shoulder, caressing it carefully. I looked up to see Wanda, looking down at me. I smiled at her as the guys came closer and pulled me up. I winced and grabbed Steve’s arm to get more steady as they walked me inside the jet.
The whole flight was a blur. I remember Natasha sitting beside the bed I was laying in, holding my hand the whole time. We didn’t talk much. They had stopped the bleeding but still I had lost a lot of blood so I had to be at the hospital asap. Clint was flighting the jet, while the others were in some conversation about the flash drive I had retrieved. Wanda was sitting close to me but away enough to give me and Natasha some privacy.
I wanted to close my eyes but Natasha didn’t let me. She would say dumb things to distract me from closing them. Even though she tried to mask her emotions, I could really see right through her. I’ve learned to read her over the years, I knew when she was anxious, sad, mad, annoyed and happy. Even now that she tried to mask her anxiety and fear, it didn’t work to me.
When we got there, they quickly took me inside and brought me to the doctors. I couldn’t remember what happened exactly next. I could hear Natasha talking to me but I couldn’t hear any word that escaped her mouth. My vision blurry and not being able to feel my legs. Then everything went black.
I woke up by a beeping sound, trying to focus my vision to the bright light of the room. When i did that, I slowly looked around. It looked like a hospital room, a small TV in front of me on the wall, on my left a window and a door on the other side of the room. I was laying in a bed, it was comfy but my body felt numb. I heard soft snores beside me and turned my head immediately towards the noise. I relaxed when I noticed the redhead sitting in a chair beside my hospital bed, sleeping in a clearly uncomfortable position.
I tried to move but everything felt so weird, so I tried to speak. After a few tries I finally got to speak softly, hoping to not scare the green eyed woman sleeping. “Tasha..” I spoke but she didn’t even stir. So I tried again a bit louder this time. “Natasha!” I whisper-yelled. As much as I didn’t want to wake her up, I couldn’t just sit there and watch her lay there so uncomfortably.
That’s when she finally woke up, she looked around clearly confused by who woke her up. When she found my eyes she relaxed and smiled. She sat upright and took my hands, “Glad you’re awake, моя любовь.. How are you feeling?” She asked.
“I don’t know.. I feel kind of numb. What happened?” I asked her, hoping for some information. Natasha sighed and began talking, “You passed out the moment we got you inside the hospital. You had lost so much blood, y/n.. If we were late a few minutes, you wouldn’t have survived.. Thankfully, the doctors took you in immediately, saying that you needed surgery.” She paused to see my expression. It didn’t scare me at all, I was glad that I was still there. I was thankful to the doctors who saved me. I couldn’t imagine the reactions of the team if they found out I was actually dead. “They took out the bullets from your body, seven bullets y/n.” She closed her eyes, trying to calm down herself.
“How long I was out..?” I couldn’t help but ask. Natasha looked so tired, like she hadn’t slept for days. “Six days. After the surgery the doctors said that they put you into a coma so that your body would recover properly. They weren’t sure when you were going to wake up.” She let my hands and stand up from the chair, walking towards the window of the room, looking down the busy street. “The team came to visit you, all of us hoping you would wake up. Clint and Wanda stayed for a few days but I told them to go back home, staying at the hospital isn’t really that great and sleeping in a chair is also uncomfortable..”
“But you stayed..” I whispered, my face suddenly getting sad. She was really a wreck because of me.
“Of course I stayed, why wouldn’t I? I wouldn’t leave you alone, y/n.” She turned back to look at me with that sad expression. Slowly walking towards me, she crouched down beside my side, her face at the same height as mine. “I’m glad you’re okay.. I don’t know what I would do without you.”
I smiled and mumbled, “I’m glad I’m okay too..” but the next thing I felt was a slight pain on my shoulder, looking at her eyes in disbelief I said, “Did you just punch me? What was that for?!”
“That was for being stupid, you dumb idiot. Why would you go there on your own, even when Fury said that it was incredibly dangerous for one person?” She said, clearly frustrated. “And I didn’t even hit you that hard, stop being a baby.”
“Ah, fuck of..” I shook my head but quickly regretted it as I saw Natasha’s face. The murderous look she gave me made me shut up and mumble a “sorry” to her. As silence surrounded us, I decided to look back towards her. “Look.. I’m sorry, I know what I did was stupid. And I’m so sorry I made you go through all of this, that wasn’t really my intention. The plan was to finish the mission and come back home, I didn’t know that things would get bad..”
“It’s okay, I’m just glad you’re alright now.” She sighed and moved to hug my side so softly as she was afraid to hurt me. I moved slowly my arm and pulled her more into the bed, making her lay there beside me. Natasha put her head on my chest, with her strong arms around my waist. We laid there for what seemed to be an eternity, just relaxing in the presence of each other’s. We made a small talk, with her telling me that I was in big trouble when we would go back to the compound. Something about Tony being extremely mad and talking about grounding me until I was thirty. I knew he couldn’t do that, and that really made me wanna laugh. He couldn’t really ground a twenty-five year old, but it would be fun to see him trying.
A few days later I got the okay to leave the hospital, and I was over the moon. I really hated hospitals, something about them made me want to go as far away as I could from them. But with the company of Natasha’s, it was a bit more enjoyable. Wanda had visited me while I was still at the hospital, we sat for hours and talked. She was also kinda mad about my idiotic actions, at first she wouldn’t talk to me but then she gave in. Natasha gave us time to catch up and brought us lunch when it was time. Clint sadly couldn’t visit, he had gone back to his family for a few days. But he promised to be back when I got back home.
The ride home was calming, Natasha was driving with Wanda on the passenger seat. I was sitting in the back, looking out the windows. I couldn’t exactly walk with my left foot. A bullet had caused a bit of a damage there, but I had started physical therapy to make it better. As my doctor said, I would be able to start training in a few weeks. The bullet hole in my chest also started to heal faster, the one on my abdomen was a little bit bigger and it still hurt when I walked. The doctor said I needed more rest so everything would full heal.
When we arrived at the compound, I noticed Steve waiting outside. Natasha parked the car and helped me get out from the back. As Steve went to take me from her in order to get me inside, she simply gave him a look and he backed up. I nodded towards him and continued walking with Natasha inside the building. Nobody else was there so I supposed the rest of the team was in some mission. As the red head helped me up to my room, Wanda passed by to ask us if we wanted something to eat. When we kindly declined, she left and Natasha set me into my bed. “Alright, I have to do something first. Can you wait for me? It won’t be long.” She said, tucking my injured leg in some pillows. I nodded and gave her a gentle smile as I watched her leave the room.
I reached the TV remote that was beside me on the nightstand, switching it on and selecting a movie to watch while Natasha was gone. It didn’t took her long to come back and when she finally came in she had in her hands many snacks and drinks. I looked at her mesmerised, my mouth was hanging open as I watched her come and sit beside me on the bed. “What’s all of this?” I asked, even though I knew.
“Snacks! I thought it would be less boring if we watched a movie and eat together until we have to go downstairs.” She said with excitement in her voice. While I was still in shock I laid there, don’t knowing what to say. “You’re staring..” She grinned, knowing she had caught me.
Shaking my head, I looked down at my hands suddenly getting nervous around her. Still after all these years she still had that effect on me. “How can I not? You’re perfect..” I said, finally looking over her face only to see her blush. “Awh, look at you. You’re blushing! I made the Black Widow blush!!” I grinned, throwing my fist in the air like I won.
“Shut up..” Natasha said, looking away. It never got old. I liked teasing her, she wanted everyone to think like she was a baddie but in reality she really was a softie. At least when she was with me. I smiled softly, making her look at me weirdly, “Why the fuck are you smiling?” She said, trying to look serious but she failed miserably. That only made me laugh more. “Seriously, y/n.”
I threw my hands up, like I was surrendering. “Okay, okay. Sorry, no need to give me that look.” My laugh had stopped by now and I was just grinning at her. “I was smiling because I’m happy. You make me so happy, Natasha.” I sighed, gently turning my body a bit so I could face her fully. I took her hands in mine, squeezing them slightly. “And I want to thank you. Thank you for being here the past few days, you never left my side and I’m thankful for that. Also I want to thank you for being with me every day for the past few years. You saved my life so many times, because of you I’m still here.” I watched as her eyes watered but she didn’t dare to speak so I continued. “You know I was in a place where there was no escape, I was so done with life. I didn’t have anyone by my side. No one to call my person, no one to talk to about my problems. But you Natasha, you came into my life and helped me to understand that life’s worth living. Damn it, you made me scared of death. You know how fucking scared I was in that alley? I had realised that I didn’t want to die, I didn’t want to leave you alone. I wanted to live, I wanted to stay here with you. I wanted us to keep having picnic dates, movie nights together, to spend time together doing absolutely nothing. I wanted us to keep sleeping together at night, to keep waking up together in the mornings. I wanted you to keep yelling at me whenever I made a stupid decision, to see your face when you were so mad at me for something so dumb. But more importantly I wanted to be able to see again that smile,” I motioned to her face. Tears spilling down her cheeks as she tried not to cry. I took a breath before speaking again. “Natasha Romanoff, you make me want to live. You’re the best thing that ever happened to me. I can’t believe that I can’t go a day without seeing those beautiful eyes. You mean everything to me and I don’t know how long it took me to realise it but I can say now that I’m literally so fucking in love with you.” I finished, softly looking at her.
“Love..” She paused as her voice broke. “I’m so in love with you too.. So much..” After hearing those words my heart jumped, I shot towards her taking her in my arms and holding her. I pulled away from the hug, catching her lips with mine, kissing her slowly with love. Honestly it was one of these moments where Natasha would be so comfortable with me that she let herself cry in front of me. Being vulnerable in front of me. And I loved that, not that she cried. But because she was comfortable enough to show her true self, she was open about her feelings.
Natasha Romanoff, was in love with me. And I was in love with her. And it only took for me to nearly die for us two to accept it and confess it to each other. But now, that all of this was over, that I was okay and alive with my girl beside me. I felt like I could win everything.

Alone with you
You and Hermione hate each other, or that’s what you and everyone else thinks. But all of the fights and the flirting between you guys might mean something, right?
——————————————————————————
I also posted this on my Ao3 account, so if you find it there just know that it’s me.
This is going to be only a few more chapters since it’s a small story.
——————————————————————————
Walking down the corridors along with Draco, Blaise and Pansy, you were heading towards your last class for today, potions. You were in a bad mood all day since your parents decided to destroy your mood by sending you a letter, telling you that you couldn’t stay with them for Christmas holidays because something happened.
You weren’t sad about that, you had already made plans about staying at Hogwarts. All of your friends were going to their families for Christmas, so you would be alone. It was better than going home anyways, your parents weren’t the best and you hated being around them. So staying at Hogwarts wasn’t anything new.
What made you furious was the nerve that your parents had to tell you that you couldn’t be there even though they happily invited your two other siblings. You were the black sheep in the family, you were the one who always got the hate, you never got the attention from your parents. On the other hand, your siblings had all the love growing up.
It made you sad.
However, you didn’t show it. You pretended like you didn’t care at all, you wanted to appear strong in front of the others. And that’s what you did, for many years now. When you first went to Hogwarts, you didn’t have anyone, you knew nobody. Your first year was the worst. Since you were the oldest child of your parents, you didn’t have any of your siblings there. Not that it would help, your friendship with your brother and sister was kind of the same with your mother and father.
In your fourth year now, you had your friends, some of them didn’t really matter but you managed to find some loyal ones. For example, Draco Malfoy. You two had similar interests and family issues. He was the one you were going after a bad day, he understood you. Draco was also coming to you everytime he had a fight with his father and you did your best to calm him down.
You also managed to gain a reputation in school. You and Draco were two of the most famous students there, Harry Potter would be another one. Draco and him didn’t really like each other from the start, as the blonde boy had said to you when you two became closer friends in the second year.
You didn’t have anything against the dark haired boy, but since your best friend didn’t fancy him, you made it your goal to make his life hell with Draco.
You didn’t really have many enemies there, everyone was kind of afraid of you and since you were a Slytherin and best friends with Draco Malfoy, they didn’t try to mess with you. Everyone would do as you said. No one dared to talk back to you.
No one except for a specific brown haired Gryffindor.
Hermione Granger.
The best student in Hogwarts, a muggleborn and ‘the brightest witch of her age’ as many people called her.
You and your friends would often bully her or any other Gryffindors but she was the only one who stood her ground. She didn’t care about your stupid remarks or about the times that you would call her a ‘mudblood’. Others would cry, but she never did.
Gryffindor and Slytherin shared some classes together, so you often had to see each other in class. It was clear that Hermione and you didn’t fancy each other from the start, just like Harry and Draco.
Hermione sat alone inside the classroom, it was her last class for the day. She was patiently waiting for Harry and Ron to enter the room but they were running late. She breathed out when she saw you and your friends walking through the door step. She wasn’t in the mood today so she looked away, hoping that you wouldn’t acknowledge her presence.
Her two friends appeared just in time as Professor Snape entered the classroom behind them. They walked towards Hermione, as she opened her books getting ready for the lesson to begin.
“Bloody hell, Hermione. When did you get here so fast?” Ron mumbled quietly.
“Well, while you two were goofing around, I actually walked to class.” She replied, quickly looking around and accidentally catching your eyes. You smirked sending her a smirk before turning your gaze back in front of you as the professor started talking about something.
Hemione simply rolled her eyes as she turned her attention back to writing notes. She wasn’t in the mood today for your stupid remarks. Today was a bad day for her, she had so many assignments to do and she was running out of time. She was planning to head to the library after the class was over, her goal was to finish as much as she could today. In a few days Christmas vacation was starting and since she, Harry and Ron decided to spend the holidays at Hogwarts, Hermione wanted to relax from homework.
Few minutes had passed as the Gryffindor turned her head again towards you, but Pansy already had your attention as she was whispering something to you. You two were giggling quietly as professor Snape handed out the next assignments for the holidays.
“Granger is staring at you.” Pansy commented as you turned your gaze to the Gryffindor girl, meeting your eyes she blushed and immediately looked in front of her, not daring to look at your way again. You chuckled and reached to take a small blank paper from your bag, quickly writing down on it and throwing it towards the brown haired girl. Luckily it went right in front of her hands on the desk and without Snape noticing it.
Hermione’s full attention was now on the small paper on her hands, quickly looking forward to checking if the professor noticed. When she made sure that no one saw it she read the note in her hands.
Like what you see, Granger?
She left a quiet groan and rolled her eyes, throwing the note inside her bag and turning her attention back again to the assignment in her hands. She couldn’t help but think about you, the day wasn’t over yet and you already had pissed her off numerous times.
As the class finished you stood up, throwing your things into your bag when you heard Draco talking from beside you, “We’re going back to the common room, are you gonna come or..?”
“Uh.. Actually I think I’m gonna go to the library for a bit, I need to do some assignments..” You said, throwing your bag over your shoulder and starting walking towards the door with the others.
Draco nodded, giving you a smile. You felt someone bumping into you as you looked at the person, annoyed. Before you could speak, the blonde boy snapped towards the redhead. “Watch where you going, Weasley!”
Hermione was quick to notice what was going on and walked towards them. “Leave him alone, Malfoy” She looked at you before grabbing Ron and leaving before either Draco or you had any time to respond.
“She really gets on my nerves..” Draco sighed from beside you. As you nodded and started walking away from the Slytherin. “Hey! We will talk later, right?”
“Yep. Now I gotta go. So, have fun with whatever.” You dismissed yourself as you turned to another corridor on your left. You really weren't in the mood to socialize with anyone, so hiding yourself inside the library, where nobody could find you was the best idea you had.
Hermione had just left the Gryffindor common room and was heading towards the library, she greeted the librarian and went to sit on a table deep into the room, where no one would find her. Hermione liked quiet places, it helped her concentrate.
You just had entered the library, you looked around as you walked through the bookshelves going towards the place you always found comfort in. Since your first year, that place inside the library was the only one where no one was able to find you. That and the tree you had found in your second year there. You would always go there when you wanted to distance yourself from things. Only Draco knew about it, but he knew better than to visit you there.
You stopped in your tracks as you noticed that another person was sitting at your table, you couldn’t recognise who that might be, due to the lack of light in there since only the light of a small lamp was lighting the small place.
Walking around the table to stand in front of the student you went to speak but quickly noticed who that was. Hermione looked up at you and rolled her eyes as she spoke harshly, “What do you want here? Did you follow me?”
“No, what the fuck do you want here? This is my table, so leave.” You responded, placing your bag and things on the empty place on the table.
“I don’t see your name on it. I was here first.” She said and averted her gaze back on her books.
“Okay, then. If you don’t leave, I’ll also stay here.” You said and sat on the chair across from her. Hermione just mumbled a ‘whatever’ and continued with her homework as you started yours as well.
If someone saw you two together, studying in silence and not trying to kill each other would have thought that a miracle had happened. Hermione and you literally looked like you hated one another. Even though in fact, you didn’t. You just liked challenging each other, you liked the attention that she gave you, even though it was just to fight with you.
But in this moment, where you and Hermione sat in a comfortable silence, was enough for you. Neither of you had the courage to fight today.
“Hey, Granger?” You said as she looked up, looking at you from across the table with a questioning look. “Can you help me with something?” She simply shook her head, turning back to her homework as you let out a sigh. Few seconds passed and you tried to get her attention again, “Pssstt. Granger!” You whispered even though no one was close. Defeated as she continued ignoring you said a bit more louder, “Hermione!”
“What! What do you want?” She said angrily as she closed her book looking at you.
You simply smiled, satisfied that you finally got her attention. “Can you help me with this?” You motioned the homework written on your book.
“No, I have my own. And why would I even help you?” Hermione rolled her eyes, clearly angry with you. She missed her quiet time before you got there.
“Come on, I know we don’t like each other but can you at least tell me how to solve it? You know I suck at potions!” You said but got ignored again. “Hermione!” You said loudly and she finally looked at you.
“Okay! But after this, you’re going to shut the hell up and let me study.” You nodded and made room for her to sit next to you. Hermione sighed and brought a chair to sit next to you as she started explaining it to you.
Five minutes later she stopped talking and looked at you with a questionable expression on her face, “Do you understand it now?”
“Yeah, thanks.” You nodded and continued looking at her, not being able to take your eyes away from Hermione. She seemed to realize so she snapped her fingers in front of your face.
“You’re staring.” She cleared her throat, still her body close to yours. You mumbled a quiet ‘sorry’ and looked down on your books. “What’s up with you? Why’re you being so nice all of sudden?”
‘What? I’m not being nice.”
“That’s a lie. You haven’t said anything mean to me since the moment you sat at this table. You are being nice, so what’s wrong?” She scoffed.
“Nothing’s wrong, okay? I’m just not in the mood for that, and I wanna get over this stupid homework so I can go to sleep.” You said, not daring to look into her eyes.
“Yeah, I don’t believe you.” Hermione said.
“Aren’t you tired of fighting? Because I am.” You breathed out suddenly, crossing your arms and moving back to the chair.
“Of course I’m tired of it!” Hermione exclaimed, rising from her seat clearly frustrated, then quickly sat back down and lowered her voice, “But apparently it seems that we both like doing it..”
“Yeah.. I mean, it’s fun, isn’t it?”
“Maybe, but sometimes you take it too far.” She whispered, looking up at you.
“I’m sorry for that. It’s just that sometimes, I.. I might take my anger out on the wrong people. Things are not great for me lately. And I’m not saying it for you to pity me or anything, I just want you to know how sorry I am..” You said in a quiet tone, not daring to look towards her.
Hermione nodded, a small smile creeping on her face as she watched you being for the first time so vulnerable in front of her. You didn’t show your emotions that much, if Hermione was to be honest she would say that you didn’t show anything at all. Trying to act all badass in front of the whole school was kind of fun for Hermione to watch.
She knew that you have been struggling with much more than you showed, but she didn’t dare to say anything because she knew how you would react.
The corner of your eyes filled with tears so you glanced up to the ceiling so they couldn’t flood down your face. After successfully avoiding the tears you looked back down to the Gryffindor, “It was fun, right?” You said with hope in your voice.
The girl beside you chuckled and nodded her head, not being able to hold it anymore. “Yeah it was. Watching you trying to act like you hate me was the best thing.”
Trying to turn your face serious, you said, “But I do hate you.”
“Right, keep telling yourself that.” Hermione mumbled and moved to grab her book.
“What? No, I do hate you. It’s just a bit fun arguing with you”
“Oh please, if you hated me you wouldn’t cry in front of me.”
“I didn’t cry.”
“You were close, though.”
You rolled your eyes and mumbled, “Fuck you, Hermione.”
“You wish.”
“What?” You turned your head towards her, confused and unsure if you heard well.
“What?” Hermione’s eyes widened, she didn’t mean to say something like that. It just slipped off. Turning her head away from you so you couldn’t see her red face, she grabbed her pen and started writing down some notes.
You shook your head and smiled, “What did you just say?” You really couldn’t believe the words that slipped out from Hermione’s mouth, you have never heard the girl say something like that.
“Nothing, forget I even said that.” She denied, shaking her head.
“No way I can forget what you just said.”
“You can and you will.” The Gryffindor eventually met your gaze, a hint of anger in her face.
“Nope. Not gonna happen.”
“Y/N.” Her expression hardened as Hermione gave you a look telling you to shut it immediately. You threw your arms in the air, showing that you gave up. She looked back down on her papers as you sat there, thinking about everything.
You would never have thought that you and Hermione would have talked for more than 10 words to each other, and without those words being mean things you usually said to piss off each other.
You found comfort in her presence, you actually started to feel safe and that you didn’t have to hide that much from her. You couldn’t remember the last time you actually felt this safe. Being beside Hermione was really comforting and relaxing.
Even though you enjoyed being on your own, being in the presence of the Gryffindor girl was one of the best feelings. It felt like for once in your life you weren’t alone.
Sure, hanging out with Draco also made you feel wanted, he was there when you wanted someone to talk to. To open up, about your feelings when you felt like everyone hated you. He always told you that you matter, that your feelings matter, that you don’t deserve the way your family treats you.
But you couldn’t help but feel always the same; that everyone hated you, everyone wanted you gone. You had fallen into deep depression, no one believed you. No one but Draco. He was the one who helped you get out of those thoughts. No one knew about your suffering, about the pain you had to go through.
“Do you hate me?” You whispered, barely enough for Hermione to hear. It came out without your consent and you regretted it the minute you said it.
“What?” Hermione turned her head towards you, trying to catch your eyes with hers.
“I said, do you hate me?”
“No, I heard you. I..” She sighed and looked anywhere but you. “Hate is a strong word.”
“So, you don’t..?” You said, with a slight hope in your voice.
“I didn’t say that.” She crossed her arms, still not looking in your direction.
You turned your body, facing her while still sitting on the chair, even though Hermione tried her best to avoid your questions.
“So… You do hate me?” You grimaced at the thought of the Gryffindor girl hating you. You couldn’t actually imagine Hermione hating you for real. You always knew that she doesn’t like you, but hate?
“I didn’t say that either.” Came her response as she had found big interest on the bookshelves in front of you.
“You confuse me, Hermione.”
“Good, now go back to homework.” She was really trying to fight back that smile, she liked playing with you. She knew exactly how you would act in some situations, she secretly studied you daily. While you would talk with your friends, Hermione would watch you from afar. In the hallways, from the Gryffindor table in the Great Hall, on quidditch matches.
She loved going on your quidditch matches, whenever you played she would find an excuse to come see you play. Whilst you didn’t know that, -which she was grateful for- she was your biggest fan. In secret.
Hermione tried to avoid her feelings for so long, after she realized that she couldn’t do that anymore. She decided to appreciate you from a distance, since she knew that she didn’t have any chance with you.
The popular Slytherin, the best friend of Draco Malfoy.
Sighing you let your head fall to the table, closing your eyes and trying to relax for a few minutes. It was getting closer to 11pm and while tomorrow was Saturday, you were tired and planning to sleep until late in the morning. But, after you had finished your homework.
Feeling a gentle nudging on your arm you stirred awake and confused taking in your surroundings. Finally setting your gaze on the brown haired girl beside you, giving her a questionable look.
“What?”
“You were sleeping.”
“So?” A quiet laugh left your mouth.
“Aren’t you gonna go back to your room?” Hermione asked, still having her attention on her book giving you the opportunity to take in her appearance. She really looked cute, with her head up in a bun, her tired eyes and the small smirk that played between her soft lips.
“And leave you all alone? Nope, I’ll stay here with you.” You couldn’t help but tease her.
Your eyes widened as you could see a small blush on her cheeks but decided to not acknowledge it. You were afraid that if you did say something about her red face, she would simply curse you.
“No you won’t, your snoring bothers me.” You tilted your head at that.
“I don’t snore.” You scoffed and crossed your arms. Now it was your turn to blush, but you tried to hide it from the Gryffindor. If you really did snore, that would be so embarrassing. You didn’t want to feel that way, especially in front of Hermione.
“Yes you do.” Hermione bit her lip, now looking at you. She loved how you seemed a bit embarrassed. The truth was that you didn’t really snore. The noises your breathing made while you were sleeping were music to Hermione’s ears. But that was something that she’d never admit outloud and especially in front of you.
“I do not.” You murmured and let your head fall back to the table. “Go back to your homework and let me sleep a bit.”
“I’m done with mine. Did you finish yours?” She asked, pulling away from her books but still looking at you.
“Yep.”
“Okay, good. Take your stuff and let’s get going, it’s pretty late and I have to wake up early tomorrow.” Hermione said as she stood up and started walking towards the library’s exit. You grabbed your books quickly and stood up as well, following her.
“But tomorrow is Saturday..?” You said confused as you reached her where she was standing, waiting for you right outside of the door.
“Yeah, and..?”
“You’re so weird. Who would not sleep in on a Saturday morning..”
“Whatever.” Hermione rolled her eyes as you started walking again through the dark and empty hallways of the castle. No one was there, just you two. Two ‘enemies’ as the students called you, walking in the quiet halls and having a teasing conversation.
“Do you even rest?” You asked, turning to look at her.
“Yes, I do rest. Now come on or I’ll leave you here all by yourself.” She said with an annoyed tone as she fastened her pace. Leaving you walking slowly behind her.
“You wouldn’t.” Your eyes widened slightly at the thought. Nobody knew you were kind of afraid of the dark. You never told anyone. That was from a traumatic experience you had when you were younger. You avoided thinking of it and you also avoided being alone in the dark. You needed to feel someone beside you to feel safe and not freak out.
“Watch me.” She simply said as she continued walking faster and away from you.
“Okay! Okay, wait. I’m coming.” You whisper-yelled, fastening your pace until you reached her side. You made sure to be a bit more closer to her than usual. Even though you could make out her face in the darkness, you still had the need to feel her close to you. “So bloody mean..” You muttered, looking forward.
“What did you say?” You could feel Hermione glaring at you and you tried to keep your cool. Annoyed Hermione was something that you would survive, but an angry Hermione? You would be 6 feet under in no time.
“Nothing..” You said, trying to not sound scared.
“That’s what I thought.”
“That’s what I thought.” You couldn’t help but mock her silently, but apparently Hermione heard that.
“Did you say something?” Through the moonlight that shined through the windows you could clearly see Hermione’s jaw clenching. And that really made you almost shit your pants. So you tried to save it by denying it. “Nope!”
“So..Where are we going? Gryffindor tower is that way.” You said as you looked around, confused about your destination.
“I know that. We have to go to the Astronomy tower because I forgot some stuff there last night, and since you said that you’ll walk me to the common room, you’re going there with me.”
“I didn’t say that.” You muttered.
“Then why are you following me? The Slytherin common room is the opposite way.”The Gryffindor girl asked, turning her head to look at you.
“I- Uhm..” You stuttered, you wouldn’t admit to her why you had followed her. Your fear of the dark was not really the reason. You could just simply light up your wand, since you had it with you. The real reason why you followed the shorter girl was because you didn’t want her to walk alone in the dark halls.
Even if you didn’t admit it to yourself, you cared deeply for the girl beside you. And letting something happen to her was your biggest fear. Of Course she would be safe inside the castle. Hogwarts was the safest place, but still you couldn’t leave her alone. So yes, walking with her was calming you. Also you liked spending more time with her, even though she didn’t know it.
“That’s cute.” Her voice stopped your thoughts as you turned your face in her direction.
“What’s cute?”
“You.” Hermione said casually. You on the other side, you were trying so hard to not let your small smile be seen. She had called you cute, even though she had probably said it to annoy you, it really made you happy.
“Fuck off, I’m not cute.” You tried to act like you didn’t like it, and turned to look forward.
“Whatever you say. But if you wanna know.. Your face is really red right now..” As she said that you cleared your throat and started walking slightly faster than her.
“Can you stop that?” You asked annoyed, trying to not meet her gaze.
A simple “Sure.” came from her as you had finally reached the top of the Astronomy’s tower.
“Wow..” You said as you took in the view up there.
“What? You’ve never come up here at night?”
“No..” You said quietly, walking slowly towards the edge looking up at the stars. “It’s beautiful.”
“Yeah it is.” Hermione’s voice came from beside you as she looked up at the dark sky. “I come up here almost every night.. It’s so peaceful, especially when I want to be left alone.”
You two just sat in silence. Appreciating your moments.
“Now I understand why you do that..”You decided to speak.
“Yeah.. Sometimes life becomes too tough to deal with things, so being here at night looking at the stars. It’s so quiet. Nobody ever comes here so it’s great.” Hermione mumbled as she sighed and turned to look at you. “Whenever we fought, I came up here. Just staring at the distance and thinking about the reasons we were fighting. Which are now the most stupid reasons.”
You chuckled, still looking in front of you. “The truth is that we’re really dumb for fighting for stupid matters. And I’m sorry, I know it’s all my fault. I simply found it kind of fun, making fun of you, annoying you.. I just- To be honest, I liked having your attention. Because I knew that you wouldn’t notice me for any other reason. Making fun of you was something that made me happy, it was the only time of the day that I got your attention..”
“Oh..”
“I’m sorry.. I shouldn’t have said all of these. I know my stupid feelings don't really matter right now.” You sighed, looking down at your hands. “I shouldn’t even come up here, this is your personal space. I- I’m just gonna go. Have a good night, Hermione.” You said and turned around leaving before giving the chance to Hermione to talk.
As you disappeared down the stairs the Gryffindor stood there, thinking about all that you had said. Now she was confused.
That night she stayed a few more hours in the tower. Alone. Thinking of stuff.
You, on the other side, after you left you walked straight to the Slytherin common room and into your dorm. Slipping under the blankets you tried to close your eyes, but the thoughts of what happened minutes ago in the Astronomy’s tower couldn’t leave your mind.
Did you really have to say those things? Thankfully you didn’t admit any more of your feelings. That would destroy everything.
Eventually sleep took over you, but the dreams were still there.

Wanda: What do you think Y/n will do for a distraction?
Natasha : They’ll probably, like, make a noise or throw a rock. That’s what I would do.
*Building explodes and several car alarms go off*
Natasha : ... or they could do that.
