You said you have a Kagerou Project/Undertale crossover AU where Asriel is Azami… I thought Asriel would correspond to Ayano instead

omg finally a chance to talk about two of my favorite things at length..... omg omg okay SO forgive how long this might be

to me i think the most Ayano Character is chara-- the self sacrifice for their family and the need to be the savior. the unaddressed trauma and how their deaths are such a big event for everyone involved, leaving everyone with this awful grief and self blame. to be honest i'm not a huge fan of having either chara or ayano back cuz i think it removes the character development that asriel and shintaro had while dealing with their grief... like i guess to Me Specifically i prefer for the characters to deal with their grief in a realistic way rather than bringing someone back. i would talk more about this At Length but i would probably run out of space or something... i think my thoughts on this are more clear in this post i just think they are so ayanocore

buuut anyway flowey is much more of a saeru character to me. he refuses to move on, he can't let go, he's constantly repeating everything to have a sense of control, he insists that life is awful and that he can't feel love.... he and saeru, i guess at the core of their characters, both have this drive to live and be in control because of their trauma. so seeing a character like saeru be a part of azami really reminds me of how asriel refuses to deal with his grief... i've talked about it a bit but i think using saeru as azami's refusal to move on from the past, and this is kind of shown in mca and lost time memory, is a really interesting way to go about her two most conflicting thoughts. she wants to live and be happy with her family, but there's this part of her that doubts that, and is sure everything will be ruined again. i think her, saeru, mary and flowey are all dealing with this horrible trauma that shows itself through willing everything to repeat. they just don't want to let go.

the thing that really solidifies this for me is the lyrics of outer science.... how saeru is just SO sure that loving others is selfish. that loving others will only hurt you. how he insists that mary is lucky to even be alive, and that daring to love others and miss them is stupid. how he says that That's Just Life. to be hurt. it reminds me soo much of floweys "don't you get it? there's no such thing as happy endings." they're just so. ohh these guys are SO traumatized i think about them so much. also i think yaki and chara serve Similar Purposes... like. remembering them and who they are is an extremely important turning point for both mary and asriel and i think about this a lot...... here is an outfit swap i drew a while ago :)

it's been a really long time since i thought about that au but i think i would probably change Quite A Few Things if i were to look at it again..... but anyway thank u for giving me the opportunity to talk about my big favorites <3
