The natural quirk of Yoichi was the ability to cultivate strength and pass that to a successor. But it was limitated to his natural human strength, so it didn't had a external manifestation that could be noted, so he seemed quirkless.

Then, AFO gives him another quirk, the ability to accumulate power and use it to boost his physical abilities.

So, the first quirk of Yoichi attached the new one, occupying it the storage of OFA for the first time. That's why his previous holder wouldn't show as a predecessor.

OFA is often referred as the combination of this two quirks, but actually they are separated abilities.

You can picture like this: OFA (the original ability to cultivate power and inherit it to others) is like a box. Then you put an air-freshener (the quirk that AFO passed to Yoichi, that boost other abilities) on the box. Every item that you put there (the quirks of the successors that AFO cultivated over the years) will be impregnated with the smell (the boost). But the box and the freshener are two different things.

Something is missing in OFA

Something I’ve always said to myself about OFA: If we follow the story, there is Yoichi who had a sleeping Quirk in him, so he seemed quirkless. So, like a good big brother, AFO sends him a strengthening Quirk (something like that). The question is: who owns this original Quirk? If his Quirk is contained in the OFA storage, we should be able to see it like the other sucessor, right?
