Today at work:
I work in a care home and because I work around elderly people I tend to tell them random stuff like that I want to be a doctor (I’m applying for uni in September).
I don’t remember exactly who I’ve told this because most of them don’t remember me the next time I see them anyway, but today a lady did.
I walked into the sitting room where a few of the residents were sat, and this particular lady was sat with her family. As I was leaving the room she said:
“That girl is going to be a doctor”
This hit me hard because I only ever tell people that “I want to be a doctor” because it’s so competitive and idk if I’ll be accepted into uni.
But this 90 ish year old lady, who I’ve probably only talked to once, remembered me and has now unknowingly given me so much confidence into fulfilling my dream job.
Stop saying
“I want to be….”
And say “I will be…” instead
Because chances are you’re much more likely to become a doctor etc if you say it with confidence, than if you make it seem like an ideal scenario.

Rant time:
You know what’s really sad? Writing. One of my dreams is to be an author, but I have more realistic dreams that I need to act upon. It’s not that I don’t have the ideas, it’s that I don’t have the time to develop that idea into something amazing.
My story idea is so complex that it would take a lot of time and effort to write. I don’t even know the plot, just a vague storyline and an very cool world concept. I also have the problem of that it’s not just one world I need to create…it’s 5.
So yeah I need to create 5 different worlds that all link together with completely different characters and social structures.
If I ever manage to write this I think it’ll be amazing, but I’m 17 and want to be a doctor.
I think I’ll just stick to writing fanfics because they don’t require me to create an entire world, just build on an existing one.
(I’m writing a Throne of glass fanfic called Kingdom of love and destruction on Wattpad (by Annabel876) so feel free to read)
