FTH 2024 Auction Calendar

We blinked, and it's 2024, and our EIGHTH year of running this auction. 2024 has all the same problems as last year but more — but we also have a lot to be hopeful about, and a lot of good projects worth supporting and fighting for.

You can look at this page (also linked in our header) for the list of this year's supported nonprofit organizations. We'll be posting more detailed profiles of each of them in the coming weeks. Below is the full calendar for this year's auction.

February 5th: creator signups open

February 19th: creator signups close

February 29th: browsing period begins

March 5th: bidding opens

March 9th: bidding closes

March 16th: proof of high bid donations due

March 21st: proof of 2nd chance donations due

December 31st: fanworks due

Back in 2021, as we were pulling together the fifth FTH auction, we joked together behind the scenes about how great it felt that the name of our auction was no longer quite as on-the-nose as it had been in our first few years. But it's 2024, and in all likelihood 45 will be back on the ballot: just one of the many sobering and scary things we're facing down this year.

But for the past seven years, we've had the privilege of watching thousands of fans -- yes, literally thousands -- dedicate their time and money and energy to the twin projects of sending support to some amazing organizations while building and strengthening community ties within fandom. Now, more than ever, that kind of community-building is essential.

We hope you'll join us, and join one another, in sending much-needed financial support to these amazing organizations and in putting more joy and beauty out into the world in the form of fanworks. These are dark times, but when we join together we can make them a little brighter.

Because I am a joke and redbubble is a JOKE my redbubble is still down. it's been 2 weeks and they havent responded back to my email that was a response to them being like "due to your request we deleted your account <3" no commentary on if i'd still get a payout or what

but also

I NEVER REQUESTED THAT. They really weren't kidding when they said Redbubble support was the worst. I believed them but living it is a whole other experience, how does this site ever have enough things to sell?????

Also I talk a lot about how embarrassing it is to be in angry love with Wei Wuxian, but when they first have to recite the Wen laws, and he activities little shit mode to be like “I’ll read the Wen laws :)” and then recites the precepts of the Lan Clan—if I was Lan Wangji coming fresh off my clan’s recent massacre, I’d also be so so so in love with him. That’s sexy and deeply romantic on both a personal and a geopolitical level. That’s the best kind of complex and sexy. I’m actually insane about this relationship. We say this a lot on this ole website but biting and biting and ripping and tearing for real, dude, for real.

So, real talk, this was partially inspired by reading all of this happened (more or less) by conclusions(introductions) which, mind you, I knew as a part of Remembering Doing the Arts but did not remember anything other than "Yoonmin, Curse (breaking), Antlers, remote forest shit, MAGIC, and remembering it's got a story-in-a-story framing with a castle, or something"

Me and ao3's search filters just did a lot of heavy lifting to find that again because im historically AWFUL at tracking what ive read and magic AUs are insanely popular in the BTS fandom space.

Not on redbubble because they have a Thing about nudity and I'm not keen to find out what it is.

The carp taught me humility, because I thought to myself "I'll save the easiest one for last. Fish is gonna be SO easy" And then It was legitimately the hardest one of the whole bunch. Bunji? Easy. Breeze. Baby? Even easier! The Simplicity Was Not A Problem.

Clathus Ruber for @feefal's Fungary prompts from 2022. I wanted it to be like a grotesque throne situation. I later decided I didnt want to also draw clothes! I tried really hard to stick to a different shading style (partial success) i wanted ALL of the texture!

Almost done with what I've done for @feefal's Funguary prompts for 2022. This one Is just a mash together of a bunch of different mushroom related inspirations that I, of course, did not keep track of. I have the faintest recollection that I started this before the official prompts were posted, but I'm honestly not sure if thats true or not.

Ah, it's partially the spirit of that bracket (in round 2 one fandom was very literally buying votes) and I voted on a second account for wangxian as well to contribute my own tiny voter fraud.

I don't have the energy to be creating dozens of side accounts for that like some people/groups have been, but it's fun it's encouraged by the mods of the bracket and it's very funny to see the responses about it on the blog so I figured I'd contribute my own this time around. :)

Inky Cap Mushroom for Funguary 2022.

This is probably my least successful of the Funguary lot, at least by my personal standards. Interestingly, this is very very much harkening back to how I used to draw when I was first really getting in to drawing and first on Deviantart (when that was all the rage and *glomps you* was 90% of comment conversations). WHICH WAS 18 YEARS AGO.

More Funguary More FUN. Cordyceps was cool in 2022 before I was aware of The Last of Us (I'm truly a shit tier gamer. I game but not... like good?)

ANYWAYS this was a fun one, I was watching a lot of Drawfee and envying rim lighting so I thought, 'let's try it! We're all about trying new things for Funguary' and then I DID.

I also think I may have tried every brush natively available in procreate on the background alone.
