I know this meme is super old but I haven’t seen it done for this fandom yet, so here you go.
(I know there is a “doesn’t know what McDonalds is” option, but putting all the Xenos in there would have been no fun lmao)

I’m really sorry about the recent inactivity, but November was... crazy, to say the least and I’m also on the job hunt which can get quite discouraging from time to time - while I do have ideas for posts I sometimes don’t really feel inspired to write them down. Especially if they are longer posts like the mimeosome one.
But I’m dayly active on my main, so I will see asks and keep track of this blog, so feel always free to drop any XCX related aks! (I ofc love the other two games as well, but I have a theme going on here~)
I also started a new playthrough to dig up any interesting stuff I can find (which takes a LOT of time. I took me over two hours to talk to every NPC in 3 out of the 4 districts lmao. Also, screenshotting is a pain on the Wii U). I haven’t even started Chapter 3 yet, but I already found a few interesting bits I’d like to piece together into more comprehensive posts in the future. But again, this will definitely take a lot of time XD The game is massive after all and I’m busy and sometimes depressed.
It always gives me anxiety when I don’t stay active because people might assume I forgot about this blog or lost interest - which is absoluetly not true!
Also, big thanks to everyone who liked and/or reblogged any posts! It makes me very happy and also helps with motivation :D

Xenoblade Series Ask Game
Since both X and 2 had their (Western) birthdays this week I figured it would be a good time to upload an ask game I wrote about two months ago, since there are many questions that give you the opportunity to talk about these games and why you love them!
Please enjoy! And whoever reblogs this is gonna get a guaranteed ask from me :)
Name a number and a game and I will tell you:
1.)    Favorite main character
2.)    Favorite antagonist
3.)    Favorite major NPC (e.g. plot-relevant or voiced NPCs)
4.)    Favorite minor NPC (excluding Nopon bc they get their own question)
5.)    Favorite Nopon (excluding Riki, Tatsu and Tora)
6.)    Riki, Tatsu or Tora? Who do you like best and why?
7.)    Favorite Blade (XC2 only) (They get an extra question because there are so many that I feel they don’t fall into either of the previous categories as a whole)
8.)    Favorite scripted moment (e.g. sth that happened during the main plot or a sidequest, or maybe a piece of dialogue)
9.)    Favorite non-scripted moment (e.g. party members doing sth really cool in battle, seeing the day/nighttime version of a location for the first time – generally any fond gaming experience that isn’t necessarily universal)
10.)  Favorite vocal track from the OST (feel free to name more than one – especially X has a lot)
11.)  Favorite instrumental track from the OST (again, name more than one if you can’t decide, we all know the OSTs are lit af)
12.)  Favorite sidequest (since there are a ton feel free to name more than one)
13.)  Favorite natural location (meaning no man*/Nopon-made settlements. *man meaning any humanoid races, not just humans obviously)
14.)  Favorite non-natural location (meaning everything that was excluded above: colonies, towns, cities, settlements etc.)
15.)  Favorite character dynamics
16.)  Favorite potential character dynamics (i.e. two or more characters who could have had great chemistry together but it was never really touched upon in the game – feel free to elaborate)
17.)  Favorite Heart-to-Hearts
18.)  Favorite post-battle dialogue
19.)  A moment that made me sad
20.)  A moment that made me laugh/snort/grin
21.)  Favorite race
22.)  Favorite collectopedia entry (feel free to name more than one bc I personally find a lot of them to be really cool)
23.)  Best armor design
24.)  Worst armor design
25.)  Favorite accessory
26.)  Favorite weather effect
27.)  Favorite unique monster/tyrant
28.)  Favorite minor enemy
29.)  Favorite battle theme
30.)  A twist I didn’t expect (plot or sidequest related)
31.)  Favorite exploration moments (e.g. a secret area/sightseeing spot you stumbled upon, sth you didn’t know existed, finding out how to reach certain areas – whatever comes to mind)
32.)  Favorite character voice (e.g. I really adore Fiora’s English voice or angry Welsh cat Nia. Basically, whose voice do you enjoy the most. Can be Japanese or English dub.)
33.)  Anything that the previous questions didn’t cover? (If that doesn’t apply, feel free to choose another one and answer it)

Party member - NPC dialogue
Throughout the game some of your party members have unique dialogue with certain NPCs, i.e. they react when an NPC says sth related to them which leads to funny bits of conversations such as this one.
Other instances I’ve found:
Lara Mara (or Nara, I always get them mixed up) and L
This one occurs in the hangar beneath the administrative district, right after you recruit L (Lara comments on L’s appearance and spoiler ahead: it’s gay). This one isn’t available after a certain point since his dialogue changes (not sure if it’s the next chapter already).
Yolanda and Murderess
This one is at Division Drive, right at the end where Yolanda’s usual hangout is. I think that this one can occur at any point in time as long as you haven’t done the “The Little Rich Girl” affinity mission. (In my second playthrough I recruited Murderess after Ch.12 since I had done all her affinity missions prior and it still popped up.) I’m pretty sure those two are the easiest to find, as people probably tend to put L in their party immediately after he joins and talk with the people around town with him in tow and the Murderess one is practically available all the time. (This is also the reason why I didn’t screenshot these, but I can make seperate posts with the whole convos if I replay the game again - which I’m tempted to do in the near future.)
I’m also not sure if they react if you have them in the lead, bc I have yet to encounter any NPC-Elma dialogue even though she is always in my party (often in the lead as you may have guessed from the screenshots lmao).
If anyone has encountered this type of dialogue with other party members, feel free to share :)

About Mimeosomes
Everyone who’s played through the main story knows the basics: Mimeosomes were designed to bridge the unknown amount of time it would take humanity to find a new habitable planet. This way, people wouldn’t grow old and be able to maintain the White Whale and protect the Lifehold. We know that they are artificial in nature and that they are controlled from the consciousness stored within the Lifehold.
Elma mentions in one of the chapters (l can’t remember which one rn, but if someone requests it I will look it up) that the Lifehold cannot be too far, since they would otherwise feel the lag. Considering how the player can move freely all around Mira it is suffice to say that while the Lifeholds transmission range is limited, it is nonetheless still huge. Like, encompassing a whole planet huge.
(Though, this observation might be futile since the endgame reveals that humanity would have been dead all along, so Mira Magic prevents us from making a sensible estimate as to how far this range could have been.)
What the main story chapters don’t tell us are the little details: can mimeosomes get sick, do they need food, etc.
So here is what I found:
Tumblr media
Right off the bat: Mimeosomes have organic components. It is why in the sidequest “Lakeside Getaway” the cantors are able to exterminate the workers there, as they had laid eggs inside their bodies. We also see symptoms of sickness in Ajoa (the NPC who either dies or survives depending on your choices) because of that.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Despite that, other NPCs tell us that a mimesome doesn’t experience allergies and that they keep the humans safe from germs and contaminations which means they can’t get sick.
I’ve seen other speech bubble dialogue pop up when you walk past NPCs, talking about the ration bars BLADE use when they are out in the field (unfortunately I didn’t take screenshots at the time because I didn’t think I’d make a blog with all that neat trivia. They didn’t say anything important, just talked about the taste of these things).
If they didn’t need to eat at all, I figure they’d just pass on eating while they are on a mission since it’s just additional hassle – which is why I believe that (part, if not all) those organic components make up the digestive system. A lot of parasites do settle in the intestines, so I feel this is most likely the case.
Other neat things I found:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
We know that mimeosomes are supposed to mimic the actual human as close as possible when it comes to looks, but there are a few NPCs that tell us that there is a bit of leeway included when it comes to outer appearance.
Hair, for example, can be easily swapped out (or in Felice’s case replaced), so there don’t seem to be any restrictions on hairstyle and color. Used to have straight hair and want curls now? Apparently no problem.
In the same dialogue Dorothy tells us that ‘bells and whistles’ is stuff like less weight, get rid of scars, beer bellies, etc. (I really wish I had screenshotted that latter part too, but again, I didn’t think I’d make a blog with this. I tried talking to her again, but I had cleared a chapter or the main story even and the dialogue didn’t pop up again.)
So from how I understand it: As long as it doesn’t concern one’s facial features (you know, that thing that makes a person actually recognizable, like eyes, nose, mouth, jawline, etc. you are good to go. Height, I assume, is one of them. Not sure on eye color, since technically there do exist contact lenses that change eye color) one is free to do whatever they want. Make oneself skinnier, get rid of wrinkles, whatever comes to mind.
And it kinda makes sense, really. The higher-ups would know that people would never get their old bodies back and start over with newly created ones, so things like scars or overweight and other stuff one did to their body (surgeries and tattoos included) wouldn’t carry over anyway. The new body would be a blank slate in regards to that.
Other bits of trivia:
Another NPC says that one can regulate the growth of their hair and nails, even shut it off completely if they so wish.
(Unfortunately I do not have a screenshot and I don’t remember which NPC that was, so until I go through the game again and actually find it, take this one with a grain of salt.)
One of the NPCs in front of the mimeosome maintenance center (Kent D. Carr) says that sensory impressions like taste are just data that one could easily recreate by uploading them in the mimeosome maintenance center. Which means that any kind of sensation can be recreated as long as it is in the database. (I assume this doesn’t only apply to the taste of say, chocolate cake, but also touch or maybe even visual recreation of something.)
I find it very interesting that this is even possible to do, since mimeosomes can eat and taste well enough to differentiate tastes (if they didn’t why would fellow BLADEs gush about Lin’s food or complain about the taste of the ration bars. And Lin has this whole thing in one of the official short stories where she complains about the canteen food on the White Whale). I guess it is still different from the real thing. Or maybe this is to preserve the taste of food one can’t get on Mira anymore. All human food is synthesized after all and in no way ‘natural’, so it wouldn’t possibly taste the same.
(I actually do have a screenshot of this buuuuuut it’s in German and I took it with my phone because I couldn’t connect the Wii U with the internet at the time. If anyone wishes to see it, I will gladly upload it though.)
The blood substitute is called “biocirculatory plasma”
This is said by Lin in Ch. 5 after Cross gets their arm blown off (screenshot available, but I didn’t deem it necessary to add as it’s a mainstory cutscene). Not exactly missable, but thought I’d throw it in here in case someone needs it for fanfiction or anything. The plasma is also blue, not red, as implicated by the following things:
a.) Mimeosomes are called Blue Bloods in Japanese
b.) After the attack on NLA (Ch. 8) there are NPC who do express their surprise at the humans being blue blooded/mimeosomes.
c.) This picture:
Tumblr media
The plasma also has to circulate somehow inside the body so it’s not a stretch to assume that mimeosomes have an artificial heart that acts as pump.
Ch. 5 also shows that mimeosomes can be shut down to prevent pain or further plasma loss. It is also possible to just turn off the pain response and stay conscious (I think this was said in the Sylvalum mission “Predator and Prey”).
Mimeosomes are able to feel some sort of “reverse phantom pain”, i.e. feeling the (partial) lack of a body part even though it’s connected and up and running. This is also part of Ch. 5 after the player awakens in the maintenance center and is asked if they feel okay. One of the options leads to this bit of trivia.
Okay, I think that was all I had for now. Thanks for reading :D
If anyone can provide missing screenshots or has found other bits of trivia regarding mimesomes do tell – or even better, submit!
An extra bonus:
The name mimeosome may come from the Greek μνήμη (mnimi, pronounced as mnee-mee)) and σώμα (soma). Minimi means memory and soma body so the word would basically translate to memory body. And that’s kina dope.
Not sure if this is right, obviously, the “mimeo” might be latin or some shit (or ancient Greek which is NOT the same, lemme tell you, as a native Greek speaker) and just mean mimic (as in mimic the human body), but, oh well.
Edit:
So, someone in the tags said that “Blue Bloods” is a term used in Japan to describe the rich and exempt (makes sense, here in Germany the nobility used to be referred to as such as well because the veins look blueish against pale skin. And back then pale skin meant you didn’t bust your ass open working in the fields), so basically sth among the lines of “rich and lucky ones” which is a neat bit of foreshadowing that got lost in translation. (I know who you are but since this was just tag-rambling I figured you might wanna keep your name outta this - if not, I can edit your name into the post.)
They also wondered how tf this mix of organic and mechanic components would even work; now, I don’t think the game is ever going to give us an actually coherent and scientifically sound explanation for that - I think they most likely settled on bullet points of what mims can/can’t do to keep things consistent (bc one would need not only a medical, but also a scientific and engineering degree to have a good grasp of everything and I’m sure af the developers didn’t study up THAT meticulously on this), but I was thinking about it, bc ya know, I studied biophysics and find this kinda stuff interesting af.
And then I remembered that one of the research groups at my university studies the interaction between organic molecules and solid surfaces.
This kind of research can be used to get new insights on how those molecules function, and also helps developing better prostheses (in regards to biocompatibility) - obviously they aren’t trying to make artificial organs or anything related to mimeosomes, but it IS a pretty big field afaik.
Organic molecules can be viruses or bacteria for examples - and bacteria are a very important part of our intestinal flora.
So, what if a mimeosomes intestinal tract is made out of a material that those kinda bacteria can thrive on? (It can’t be cells imo, bc human cells have to replace themselves very regulary. Intestinal cells get replaced every 2 - 4 days for example - and making use of life cells that need renewal seems to defeat the puprpose of almost-immortal machines since the point was to live in and with them as long as possible as it was unclear when they’d find a new planet to settle on.) Gut flora can digest carbohydrates and certain sugars, so there is a starting point as to how mims could digest food. These bacteria can’t break down everything, but it is common practice in life sciences to use bacteria as hosts to express certain enzymes (even though they weren’t native in that bacterium before), so engineering bacteria that could digest all kinds of food doesn’t seem like too much of a stretch to me.

Requested by @calamitaswrath2 here are some pictures from the beach chairs located at FN Site 223! (I didn’t remember they were right by the FN Site so they aren’t exactly hidden, but still, who tf put them there. Ganglion tryna chill? A BLADE that made this their little sanctuary? The Black Knight?? Who knows.)
I like that Cross can sit on them instead of clipping through them (like with the cars in NLA and other stuff).
I hope I fulfilled your request in a satisfactory way :)

Not really a trivia fact, but you could show off the secret beach chairs in Noctilum
Yeah sure, I can do that! It's a neat hidden place not everyone might have seen :)
I'm a bit busy these next days but I will try and have them up by sunday~

Welcome
Everyone and their mother is so hype about the Xenoblade Chronicles remake (I am too, it was the first Xenoblade game I played and I love it) and yet, here I am, making a Xenoblade Chronicles X themed tumblr, because… why the fuck not ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
As stated in the description this is more or less gonna be a collection of trivia, bits of NPC dialogue that can be missed and other stuff that pertains to the world building and characters - and sometimes just really dumb stuff that made me laugh.
I want every screenshot on this blog to be readable so if something isn’t working then please let me know. I’m still in the experimental stage of everything because I only used to reblog stuff on my main so I don’t really know how things work yet.
PS:
You are always free to pitch in with your own opinions as long as you are respectful about it! I love reading other people’s opinions/headcanons and theories :)
You can also request a topic but I can’t promise a satisfying answer depending on what it is, as I have yet to actually systematically go through the game and dig every piece of evidence up. I can always reply with headcanons/theories based on what I picked up on while playing - and definitely put your topic on a list of things to look out for when I start a new file and make a post when I do find something :)

Yeah, it could have been something like that too - I didn’t think of that (mostly bc I believe that it wasn’t mere luck that of all arks the one with Elma miraculously survived, bc that would have been pretty damn lucky), but it’s certainly sth to consider. And I agree, without ever knowing anything about the other ships and their numeration there really isn’t much a pattern to go by unfortunately.
About the White Whale
Tumblr media
I’ve always wondered why the White Whale was labeled L-002. Why just number 2 when it was clear that Elma (arguably the most important person of this whole undertaking) would board it. She said herself that the White Whale was one hell of a ship already (I think in her last Affinity Mission), so the L-001 probably was as well.
I also thought that just because they based their habitat unit on the old Los Angeles didn’t necessarily mean that the White Whale launched from there (in earlier concept art this was supposed to be New Tokyo after all), but today I had an idea and went to check on something interesting:
The largest cities in the US
In case you are too lazy to click the link: The largest cities of the US (as of 2018) are:
New York City
Los Angeles
Chicago
Houston
Phoenix
Sooo, maybe the White Whale did indeed launch from (nearby) LA and maybe that’s why the habitat unit we came to know as New Los Angeles was based on LA in the first place. Numbering the arks from largest city to smallest is kinda sensible after all.
It doesn’t explain why Elma was on the L-002 instead of the L-001 (or any of the others for that matter), but I do have a headcanon you guys that I really wanted to share (with recent news of a certain event that occured earlier on at Sep 20th this might go into shitpost territory, but idc lmao):
Tumblr media
Do you see the airport labeled “Homey Airport”? This is pretty much where Area 51 is - and out of the cities mentioned above Los Angeles is the closest one. (Las Vegas isn’t even in the top 15, and honestly with an ark covering the perimeter of LA I doubt there is a second nearby.)
I once thought it would be hilarious if Elma landed by mere chance on Area 51, spooked the people there, but eventually got them to listen (and more importantly, believe her) about the incoming war and stuff and over time made this more or less her home base.
(With some of the military higher ups supporting/helping her it would make it easier for her to talk to the president and his aide (Chausson, whom we know was aide when Elma came to Earth) without being outed as xeno to the public.)
I don’t have any reason to believe this except that it would be funny af, but hoenstly it… kind of fits? XD
(Yet, I still don’t know what the L in L-002 is supposed to stand for >.>)

We all know that everyone on Mira is somehow able to communicate freely and without translation devices - this was established early in Ch.5 when Elma notes that the biology of the different races would make it hard for them to pronounce human words, impossible even.
Tumblr media
She deduces that somehow the intent comes across and we players file it under “bullshit plot device, gotcha” (or, as I like to call it: ~Mira Magic~). This doesn’t really confirm on whether this is true for written language as well, but I figured while playing that this is not the case as it would be really hard to get an intent across with the written word like that. A Ma-non NPC in town confirms as much:
Tumblr media
She confirms that she can’t read human words - and I thought to myself “makes perfect sense”.
And then THIS Affinity Mission happens (”To Serve Nopon”):
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Elma is somehow able to read Tatsu’s letter despite it being established that Mira Magic only works on spoken words, which leaves me with only one conclusion: Elma somehow learned to read Nopon over the duration of the game.
(or she knew it beforehand which I highly doubt and would open an entirely new can of worms as Nopon are established as a native Miran race in this game and do NOT look like they’d have the technology to fly into space and communicate with other races. Also, no one can leave Mira.)
The Story and Affinity Mission screenshots were taken from this and this video respectively as I didn’t think to take my own at the time.

The Timeframe of the Main Plot
This is not exactly missable or hidden, and the math is really easy to do, but for everyone who is interested:
The game starts off with the BLADE Tower display at 60% and it is stated in the beginning that two months have passed since the White Whale crashlanded, this means:
2 months (i.e. 60 days) = 40% energy loss
With the rule of three we can determine that
1% = 60/40 = 1.5 days
or, the other way around: 1 day = 0,6667 %(rounded up) energy loss
The last percentage we see is in Ch.11 and 12 and shows 5% left which means that the value fell by 55% over the course of the main plot. This means 1.5 days x 55 = 82, 5 days.
Things to note:
I approximated 1 month = 30 days bc it’s easier to work with a fixed value.
This assumes that the drop of energy is proportional and there isn’t some sort of energy saving mechanism that kicks in once the percentage drops beneath a certain value (as is the case with smartphones for example). (As the game never mentions anything of the sort I don’t think there is, really. Like, how would that thing even save energy - certainly not by weakening the barriers surrounding it or shutting down the super computer that holds everyone’s consciousness)
