Gideon is genuinely my whole heart. Doesn't help that I too aspire to be a tall, muscular (emphasis on that part), red head.

I've been listening to the Locked Tomb series and um yeah. I love Gideon.

Thats how I am!! I've got this character who a couple thousands of years old and I've got the entirety of their backstory planned out to the extent of knowing what they were doing, where they doing it, and when they were doing it basically planned out for the majority of their life. My problem is as much world building and backstory as I have for my story, I can't seem to actually get it down on paper. And that's where I wing it. Because I've actually got no plan for what scene lead to the others, I just know what happens and when and who is there.

I probably put way too much thought into it but I do enjoy making a more in depth story rather than winging it. I like to actually think about the worldbuilding, make sure things actually connect and make sense. I am a big history nerd and I feel like it's the closest I can get to writing my own history.

my hot take that will get me screenshotted by 2-3 ianthe bloggers is that griddlehark is actually more toxic than harrianthe. when you think about it both parties can Leave harrianthe eventually even if they'd still have to see each other. The power imbalance just isn't that severe. and I don't even think ianthe wants it to be. I think SHE thinks she wants it to be a sexy power imbalance but when it comes down to it and the moment arrives when harrow would fuck her out of desperation to be safe, ianthe turns away. She doesn't want harrow that way. She wants harrow to forget Gideon so they can be lyctors together forever. She wants to mutually maim each other. I think it's even consensual maiming. harrow broke one of gideon's ribs when gideon tried to leave her!

hi welcome to the locked tomb. here's a crash course.

gideon and gideon are different characters

gideon and kiriona are the same character

gideon and pyrrha are different characters but in the same body (gideon's)

gideon is dead now so now the body is just pyrrha's

gideon is also dead, but not really? but also definitely

palamedes and camilla are two different characters who alternated between the same body (camilla's) for a while after palamedes died

now cam and pal have become one character named just paul. that's paul's body now.

harrow and alecto switched bodies for a while but it's ok they got better

alecto and nona are the same character

nona was in harrow's body but then she died kind of

alecto and the planet earth are the same character

dulcinea and cytherea are NOT the same character, but cytherea pretended to be dulcinea for a while (dulcinea was dead the whole time)

there are two different characters called teacher. one of them is god

god is actually named john but we all call him jod (to avoid confusion)

god isn't actually god

The trick is to take notes, I would make Harrow and Pal proud with the amount of notes I've taken on just the first 150 pages of harrow the ninth. I've begun treating this series like Alecto the Ninth is a final exam and the first three books are the entire course, but sadly that course was taught by a teacher who gave up hope with teaching youth 30 yrs ago and is just there for the paycheck™ and so most of the lessons revolve around their highly specific hobbies with a sprinkle of important information said in a language they made up

I feel like the first reread of the locked tomb series can’t even be counted as a “reread” is just a read, except this time you actually have a vague understanding about what’s going on

It's hard to put into words the way that Kiriona is still Gideon despite being the saddest girl in the world. The feelings of obligation she has to her friends despite all the ways she's been hurt are still so strong. When Gideon, Harrow, and Camilla are trapped in the bone cocoon at the end of GtN, and Gideon and Harrow are having a little bit of a Moment, knowing that they're going to die, Camilla turns away to give them privacy. In the tunnels under New Rho, when Palamedes and Camilla are going over the last preparations to complete their last ditch grand lysis, Kiriona turns away. Page 430 of Gideon The Ninth (paperback): "Even Camilla, who had turned away to politely investigate something on the opposite wall, wasn't there. It was just her and Harrow and Harrows' bitter, high-boned, stupid little face."

Page 420 of Nona The Ninth (hardcover): "Nona instinctively moved forward, and nearly fell out of the truck; Pyrrha caught her up and they sank to the ground together. Kiriona Gaia was staring politely at the side of the truck, as though there were something really interesting on the paintwork. 'Camilla, we did it right, didn't we?' Palamedes said... "

i still can't believe there are folks who say "well GTN is annoying but you just have to get through it and then the other books aren't like that so you'll be fine."

personally i have been chasing the high of GTN ever since i first closed the book

It's incredibly funny to me that Libras are often considered like the horniest and sluttiest sign when I, born on September 23rd, the first day of this sign have basically made the fact that I am still a virgin a personality trait.

What I think it is, its a scale- if your born on the first day you're sexless, no sex for you- sex has never even in looked in your direction. then the later in the days you go, the more sluttier you get. And so if you're born on October 22nd that means you're a sex God. Obviously.

Just like the symbol implies it's a scale, half of us are abstinence personified and the other half have sex every hour on the hour. Sorry, I don't make the rules.

I, like countless others, am feeling frustrated, angry, utterly heartbroken and next to hopeless because of all that has been happening to the beautiful people in Gaza. I'm not good with words, but anyone who has been following the events unfolding in Palestine knows that posts about Palestine are what keep it from dying on the public eye, and I'm glad to see that the engagement and content has been going strong even after 4 months.

All the people in Palestine ask of us is to never stop fighting for them.

Don't stop speaking up.

Don't stop protesting.

Don't stop boycotting.

Don't stop posting.

Don't stop sharing resources.

Don't stop engaging with any and all pro-Palestinian content.

I'm hoping against hope for Palestine, because the only other thing I could do would be to give up hope entirely. And that's nowhere near being a fucking option.

I'm struggling a lot mentally right now, but the fact that my knowlege about other parts of the lgbt+ community was able to possibly change the trajectory of someone's self value and life simply by uttering the words "aromatic" a term he did not even knew existed before today, really makes me wonder if there isnt more too life that I'm just not seeing yet. Hearing him say "I think I'm going to go home and do research in that" made my day. Or even better yet, the classic, "I didnt know there was a word for that,".

Hope it works out for him, gives me hope that is (whatever IT is) will work out for me too.
