People really be saying Gideon Gray is cute little guy and got redeemed but NOT ALL EXES SHOULD REDEEMED.
Gideon in the couples planted a chip in Ramona is control her, was kidnapping ALL of his exes to freeze them and was irl an emotional mental abuser that likes to neglect people.
He’s a dude who just wants “friendship,” and “understanding” once he loses it all. He’s a worm that was justifiably NOT redeemed.
Finished Scott Pilgrim Takes Off and here’s my hot takes:
Listen, I don’t WANT to be this person but you gotta have read the original source material to appreciate it fully. The movie is a good start but the books give you a full understanding of Scott’s problems and his arc of becoming a better man. The books take place over a year & a half. That’s a lot of growth.
SPTO is a good reversal for the original story. Let’s make Ramona the main character and see her issues. She’s not a prize that gets fleshed out throughout the story, Scott now becomes the prize.
STILL, I wish it would took place over a longer time span and seen SCOTT MORE. Again, you’d NEED to have read the books/ watch the movie to understand Scott arc to truely appreciate him & Ramona relationship.
The whole “why are falling over a man you only met once,” is FINE. That’s sometimes how love/ love stories work. Sparks ✨ Dawg. Sparks ✨
I was a Wallace x Scott shipper and I’m officially Wallace x Todd and I’ll DIE ON THIS HILL. Wallace has always been my best boy and always will be.
I like how the exes are redeemed. That’s how Scott’s exes were. Well, he was redeemed by them.
LISTEN, the movie did Roxie DIRTY, so I’m glad that they did a better job with your story.
They still did the Twins dirty, it’s like they don’t want to talk about how Scott & Ramona weren’t together for a second in the book. And they don’t know what to do with them.
I don’t talk about media stuff a ton on this platform: I doodle and I post type of person.
BUT
You need to have read and understand the original material of Scott Pilgrim (the comic) to actually have an appreciation of Scott and Ramona as characters.
SPTO is a great view point of Ramona’s troubles in relationships rather than Scott’s but you need to understand Scott’s issues too.
