Mspec people acknowledging that there is still a lot of monosexism in gay and lesbian communities, is not homophobia. Trans people talking about how there is still a problem with transphobia among cis queer people is not homophobia. If you take issue with people pointing out the discrimination being perpetrated by people in your own communities, you are very much part of the problem.

Funny how just about everyone on here who says "don’t use the q slur around me" ends up being either biphobic or transphobic. It’s almost as if being against the term queer was something the rad fems pushed. Oh, wait, they did.

I think any marginalized person mentioning that privileged people needing to unlearn toxic messages form society should also learn they need to do that and being marginalized doesn't make you virtuous

That moment when you’re looking through the monosexism tag and you see someone criticizing the term and surprise, surprise, they’re a terf.

Some people on this site will really bend over backwards to justify why it’s not transphobic for them to say they’re monosexual and hate mspec gays/lesbians while also saying they’re attracted to nonbinary people. The rad fems have their hands so far up some of your asses that you're basically their puppets.

I think we all need to stop pretending that the biphobia bi women face isn’t deeply rooted in misogyny.

It's so fucking evil how common the stereotype of "bi woman with homophobic straight boyfriend" is and how often it's used to portray bisexual women as reckless and dangerous to our own community when we face the highest rates of intimate partner violence within the entire community. Genuinely fuck you guys for pushing the narrative that we get the privilege of ignoring homophobia if it suits us when in reality we are often the first targets of this behavior.

I hate hate hate how discussions about oppression that people don't like always get centered around intracommunity issues. "society treats bi people badly" gets turned into "stop hating on other queer people 🙄". "society treats asexual people badly" gets turned into "stop hating on other queer people 🙄". "society treats trans people badly" gets turned into "stop hating on other queer people 🙄". it feels so deliberate and it KEEPS HAPPENING. queer people are never allowed to talk about how society treats us it always gets manipulated into infighting it's TIRING

If you think lesbians can be attracted to nonbinary and multigender people but can’t be mspec, you’re transphobic. It’s pretty simple.

"Of course lesbians can be genderqueer and nonbinary and be attracted to genderqueer and nonbinary people as long as their genders aren't breaking the binary too much and they are femme or neutral enough that we can comfortably misgender them as women in our heads!"
Fuck that let Lesbians Be Genderweird

Honestly, I think the whole "I’ll date nonbinary people but only if they’re sapphic" thing is almost always a transphobic attempt to either push nonbinary people into a new binary, alienate unaligned nonbinary people, or an excuse to misgender or treat nonbinary people as women lite. I used to use the term sapphic when I started identifying as nonbinary because I was afraid that if I didn't, I would be seen as to confusing and therefore less desirable. During that time, I was constantly misgendered or had people assume I was ok with feminine terms that caused me dysphoria, especially when they were flirting with me. When I stopped using the term sapphic, the people who interacted with me completely changed. I used to have a lot of lesbians interact with me and that stopped almost completely. I was almost immediately alienated from any communities relating to my sexuality even the ones claiming to be inclusive of nonbinary people. But the thing is nothing about me changed; only the label I was using did. I didn’t become more or less nonbinary, and my gender didn’t change because I wasn’t using the term sapphic. I was still nonbinary. The point is I have never seen someone who says they will only date nonbinary people if they’re sapphic not treat the term sapphic like a gender (and typically as the gender women lite). I’m just very tired of people creating new binaries to shove nonbinary people into to make themselves feel more comfortable.

y'all care so much about queer people until we aren't queer in a way that aligns with your binary world view
