up next in the minecraft redesign series is jack! good ol lumberjack pattillo :P

this one was the first idea i had when i was considering doing this redesign series. i used to just draw him in a t-shirt, shorts and some biker gear, but i wanted to give his outfit more of a personality. jack’s general theme is construction, since he’s usually the one who builds houses and provides weapons and stuff. i kept the biker boots because i think they look cool :)

alongside the quarantine hair, the minor things i changed or added are the gardening gloves, the friendship bracelet (fiona has a matching one, but i made the other designs before she joined AH), and the butterfly clip, which is a callback to older let’s plays where jack pretended that the crosshair was a butterfly. the pickaxe is a reference to nothing in particular. i just wanted it to match michael’s sword.

i have no clue on who i want to draw next. it can be either geoff or fiona, but honestly, anything could happen at this point haha

A few other thoughts on the matter.

People have turned to acting like we could've seen the signs. First of all, no, we absolutely couldn't have. We aren't trained sleuths and genius detectives who are always on our games. A couple of dirty jokes here and there isn't gonna stand out on a channel where everyone is making dirty jokes and the MOST a normal person would get from hearing about Ryan staying at hotels alot is "hm, maybe a mistress? Hope home life is okay" not straight to "hm, I guess manipulating a mass of young fans into a personal sex hotline behind his wife and coworker's back with no remorse" like??? No, we're normal people who assume basic decency.

Jumping off that, I'm tired of hearing about parasocial relationship in response to this, just talking about the people who were blindsided by this, it's not normal to suspect people can just be monsters, it's not normal to just watch people in video or maybe support them and keep the thought of "yknow maybe they're running an illegal sex cult of young, vulnerable girls" in the back of your head. Okay? It's normal to assume people don't deserve to go to jail if you "don't know them personally". And the parasocial thing doesn't even apply to his victims', as he targeted young, vulnerable girls at their lowest and/or with mental health. Could've been anyone else who said the right things at that time to them and its not their fault for falling for it.

Next, if want to jump ship to a new fav then DO IT. If that's all you need to do to continue on then continue on cause this is a fandom. We fan out, we fangasm, we get excited and happy for our ENJOYMENT cause that's what we're here for. None of this mess is on anyone except the asshole who did this to everyone.

Now, and to preface I do respect how everyone wants to go forward in the fandom, but if we throwing ryan away, we need to throw ALL of Ryan away, vagabond and mad king and whatever other personal details he has. Like, I've never been one to believe you can actually separate these types of characters from the player of them, but I can't get being the whole "the fans created these characters so we'll reclaim them" cause like. We didn't. The vagabond (Ryan's username) is a tall, white, blue eyed male with blonde hair (litterally just ryan) who dies his hair black sometimes (Ryan's avatar has black hair) and likes knives (Ryan's knife stuff) and goes on murder breaks (Geoff's joke about Ryan not having control) like you see the problem here? Everything they are is a reference to him and I'm just thinking of situations where new fans come in, ask what the skull guy is all about, and get creeped out that people still regularly use his avatar in stuff.

Also, I know it's just how we're coping, but I don't think any other cast members need to be inserted into one of those characters or take his symbols, the rest of the cast can iron out appealing and interested characters on their own and personally seeing that predator's crown on someone else instead of in the garbage is not 100% for me. If you truly need another tall, strong looking guy with a head covering, jack with a trials/motorcycle helmet is right there like it's perfect, he can even be introduced into fem!jack stories and Jack's twin brother, Shannon Jack pattillo.

I was just going "what the fuck" repeatedly as i finished watching my shows. I went to Ryan's twitter again.

Y'know I was playing this kinda... Statistics game? I wanted to see who would unfollow. First? Second? I was more focused on who's known him longer/closer personally.

Of course, Lindsay was the first to not only unfollow, but block, seeing as ryan isn't follow her, along with Jeremy/Matt unfollowing soon after. This was before the ryan tweeted that last tweet.

I woke up today and saw Michael had unfollowed him as well. I want to say it was after getting some catharsis from the stream, some good vibes that he didn't want ruined anymore.

As of last checking, I saw that 3 people unfollowed him. Quickly figured out jack and Gavin had, and then realized meg had too.

Reminds me of that old Tumblr post, around the Mario kart era of AH, where someone pointed out that Ryan lit up at seeing Meg's favorite stage and selected that immediately. I really did consider meg to be Ryan's closest friend and she might've thought that way too. She really had no idea of all of this happening and one of the worst thing is that there are definitely too many people going to her to assume she did and I'm gonna assume that she just gonna delete him from her channel, photoshoots, everything.

Gavin, even though he had started off being weary or uncomfortable with getting ryan in a "new person" sense, has probably had the most positive things to say/most positive outlook on Ryan over the years. I can't think of a time gavin's had something bad to say about him, and on the flip side, I feel as though Ryan showed a soft spot for gavin on camera atleast. Still, never excepted gavin to make a statement, that's usually not his style anyways. As far as I can tell it's usually gavin's style to just dip out which makes its heartbreaking that he couldn't for this long.

On the flip side, there are plenty of fans who know of jack/Ryan's bickering arguments, From small comments here and there, to clearly making the room uncomfortable with anticipation and outbursts. Still, they were the tech guys, grew up super nerdy and nonviolent and sometimes found common ground in minecraft mods. Y'know Ryan actually did question what Jack's problem with him was, at a couple points. Sounds silly now but I guess he rightfully assumed jack didn't know about all the heinous stuff he didn't behind the scenes. I really went hard and had fun trying to figure out why two guys of the same age, similar nerdy interests (atleast publicly) and stature could project some of the worst chemistry at times. Even weirder, it seemed as though late 2019 to these 2020 corona times, jack had been stepping up a leaning a bit more into his connection with ryan, dropping the team name more, scheduling to hang out around Christmas, even starting whole convos with him about coding.

I wanted to see what jack would write, what jack would say. Some of the most endearing things about jack is how he admits image isn't great that compiling what he wants to say and, personally, it was very refreshing how I felt like I understood him the least out of the group at times. I wanted to know what jack would have had to say about this, about that dude, even after all this came to light.

Now, there are 5 people on my following list that still follow ryan. 4 of them I would consider quite close to him, and 1 of them is Geoff, the boss who gave him a job after ryan made him laughed and after ryan asked to never be on camera. Ryan seemed to always have positive words to say about geoff, seemingly respecting him the most, even divulging the dragon napping secret only to Geoff back in skyfactory times. I guess I just kinda wonder how he's holding up the most.

Y'know I had my suspicions that Ryan didn't really care that much about his victims' ages after analysing one of the first anon confessions but. Y'know um. Well. Eheh. So.

Laurie (I only refered to her as "wife" cause I didn't want to spread her name but at this point that title is insulting a best) if you're keeping a close eye on this, PLEASE document it all and get full custody of the kids. I think Ryan maybe said he cares for them but he also shouldnt step within 30 feet of. Exiting the prison he shall be staying in.
