finally remembered to post this here!

my aunt's very sweet, very old cat tomo (short for tomodachi) passed away last year. i've been wanting to draw a portrait of him for a while to give to her because he meant the world to her. it took me some time to come up with an idea for a drawing, but i eventually had the idea to base it on seiji miyaguchi in seven samurai.

i also had a print made, which i'm going to give to her the next time i see her :)

after having what one might call a difficult summer, mentally speaking, i’m back on my feet and feeling inspired to make things again due to a well-deserved vacation. hence, olm. it’s very much a work in progress at this point and i’m super excited to keep working on it!

sidenote: the owl is kaput—i learned a lot from it but don’t feel like finishing it.

painted a pie plate today that will be part of an auction fundraising for a local historic site! no idea how it will look once it’s been clear glazed and fired but i am very proud of it :)

#process #the pencil lines will burn off in the kiln thankfully #but the colors of the baby birds will be very different after firing! hope i picked the right ones!

thought about it more and the body i made last week for the blue badger will actually work fine, i just have to attach the head a little differently from how i normally would :)

the head’s done! i finished it last week and finished the body yesterday, but i really don’t like how the body turned out so i’m going to redo it. i ran out of light blue felt again though, so i’ll need to go to the craft store before i can remake the body lol

#process #i've rethought the pattern and i think i need to use four panels instead of two for the body #which *should* make it the right shape #might turn the failed attempt into a chimera and make something else to attach as a head just for fun
