The truth is that all ships have the same number of moments, which are not many.

Zosan, Lusan, Zolu, Lawlu, Lawsan, Lawzo, Sanami, Luna, Zonami, Zorobin, Sanusopp, Frobin, Sanrobin, Usoppnami, Namivivi, Lawrobin, etc.

Each ship has been given moments where they develop their friendship/relationship, but again, there aren't many. It's just that each shipper takes what they can to have fun and create more content from that.

I mean, yes, Oda's done very well with the whole 'no romance for straw hats' while still giving them meaningful friendships. But that point was just about my perception based on what I was seeing of the fandom. Which was a lot of zosan.

Okay, so now that I've finished One Piece, I'm going to tell you all about some things I had figured out before I started reading it, I just hadn't quite figured them out right...

Okay, start with the big one. I genuinely thought that (for the most part) this was just a big fun 27 year treasure hunt. I had no idea about the overarching plot with the world government and void century and what the fuck is going on

I knew pretty much everyone was an orphan, but my gosh. Some of those backstories are really traumatic.

I really expected Shanks to have a bigger/mentorship role. He's shown up like. half a dozen times. Luffy hasn't seen him since he was a kid

I also expected Buggy to be a bigger villain. No. He's just some idiot who somehow failed his way to the top. I love it.

Kay. So I knew Ace died. But for some reason I thought it was a more recent thing. No, it's been like 15 years, I had no idea

I knew Ace and Luffy were brothers. And I knew Ace was Roger's son. And I knew Luffy was Dragon's son. But I learned all of these at different times long before I decided to read one piece, so I never thought about it enough to go 'hey hang on that doesn't add up'

Similarly, I knew Kinemon had said he was Momonosuke's father, and I also knew Momonosuke was Oden's son. But I never thought that hard about that one either

I knew one of the warlords was a Doflamingo, and I knew Law was raised by a Doflamingo. I did not realize they were two seperate people. I was so confused before I read Law's backstory

I knew Momo and Kaido were dragons, and I knew the celestial dragons were a thing, but I didn't know what they were, so I was expecting more actual dragons. I was very disappointed to find out they're just rich assholes.

Also, you guys really sold zosan. They didn't interact nearly as much as I was expecting.

How are you so far into one piece? I started it back in October, but I am struggling to get through it. I have trouble focusing, because it so long and kinda drawn out at times.

Can you give me so advice?

I mean? The main thing is how fast I read and the amount of free time I have, and nothing I say will affect that for you.

But I'm also pacing myself. I'll say I want to reach the end of an arc or a certain chapter within so many days. So like right now, I'm trying to get caught up by the time chapter 1112 is posted, which means I'm reading somewhere around 50 chapters a day. Yes, that is ambitious. But I'm not just sitting down and reading 50 chapters at once either, I'm reading like 10, and then going and doing something else for a while, and then coming back and reading more.

So, set whatever would be a realistic goal for yourself. Maybe it's 10 chapters in a week, maybe it's three chapters a day, I don't know, whatever works for you (and whatever works for you may change from day to day too, so don't stress too much about it either). Read what you can, go do something else, and then come back to it when you're ready, basically.

I love that Luffy doesn't even hesitate to offer Franky Ace's devil fruit and Franky never questions that Luffy would be able to get it

Sanji headcanons, from somebody who hasn't read that far in one piece yet, but who has been to culinary school

He may wear fancy prissy shoes, but I guarantee you those babies are Non Slip

Knife kit was a gift from Zeff when he was promoted to sous chef

He is every bit as weird about his knives as Zoro is about his swords

Don't talk to me about his 'prefect pristine' hands because he 'doesn't use them for fighting'. No.

I am begging. Give him some stupid scars on his hands and arms

I have said it before, I'll say it again. Kitchen. Voice.

He has absolutely scared the rest of the crew with his kitchen voice on a few occasions.

He has also used the fact that it scares them to his advantage on a few occasions.

He also has a customer service voice that's somehow even scarier

Contents of his pockets include: cigarettes and lighter (obviously), notepad and pencil, permanent marker, thermometer, and a spoon

(Luffy finds out about the spoon and wants to know why he can't have one too, so Sanji gives him an extra spoon because well. It won't hurt anything. Luffy loses it almost immediately but it shows up every so often in the most random places)

Okay. I've read this chapter three times and I'm still processing and collecting my thoughts about it. I have thoughts, and I'm going to be honest, I don't know how to answer this ask, because I'm not sure which part you're referring to, but I don't think we're quite on the same page here. Even after 15 years, Mic's still in denial about a lot of his feelings about Oboro and his death, and all the cracks are finally coming to the surface.
