One month check up How are you doing? How's school? Along with what are your future plans and career?
Same person from last month :) have a good day and take your time
School is currently kicking my ass so I apologize for the delayed response. Future plans right now are undetermined because I am an indecisive blob🙃 I'm hoping stuff slows down so I can get back to writing a little bit but at the moment it looks like I'll be extending my break due to lack of time. I apologize for any inconvenience!😭

Hello again!! I know you just made my request the "till death do us apart" but can I ask one more and its another angst.
So it's like an AU. Where they don't have powers. Modern Au. So you two are married(they're like in there 28 or older) and the reader has a suprise for five and their anniversary was coming close and going to suprise him then, but she also wanna show him how much she loves him and appreciate him so even before their anniversary she's going to like give him the love he deserve. So she went to go to his company(I just see five to be successful and filthy rich. I mean he is very smart.) But when she went to visit him she saw him hugging a woman so she got a little suspicious and five was startled and told her it's her new secretary and almost trip so she catches her. She was a little relived but still was little suspicious. And the days goes by she notice red lipstick stained in his shirt, perfume smell in his clothes, and a lot more. She starts too question it to him but he got defensive and left her it's 1 day before their anniversary but she just can't keep her mind that he might be cheating. Even the day before their anniversary five told her that he's going to be late and he's very busy which made him upset. She was really sad that he might be Cheating while looking at the box that contain her suprise for him. When it's anniversary, she was so happy and try to forget her suspicions and try to make this day about them but five is irritated that she seems so happy and clingy and call her off and he needs to go to work. She was sad and upset. At night she waited for him and try to call him. She prepared a lovely dinner for him. But the longer she wait the more she became angry and sad and decided to go to him but she wasn't expecting to see him doing "it" with his so called "secretary"(by the way I read the rules so with the it you could just say that their making out maybe but try not to focus their more to the reader's emotions.) She felt betrayed and she felt dirty. She left as quick as possible and gone home she cried and cried and five didn't come home. She keep thinking how she didn't see the signs how could he do this and thought about their future. She opened the box that was ment for him. Taking out a positive pregnancy test. She taught of their young love and their plans for the future now all she wants is to leave. But she's thinking of their baby no her baby so she decided to not leave yet. She cleaned up the dinner and hide the box(you decide where to hide it hehe). The next day when five came home he questioned her about the calls and called her being controling and clingy but she didn't say anything so five got mad again and left. She looked through their house and cry silently while rubbing her belly she made a plan. Each day she will pack her things secretly and look for an apartment leave her lovely home and start a new chapter for her and her baby(she leaves all the things five gave to her)and while these days goes on she and five drifted apart. While doing so she removes their pictures together, everything that might remind her about them to. She even separated their bank acc(she has a job before but five told here to quit because she doesn't need to work. You can decide her old job is) she still have a lot of money from her old job that can get her to pay the rent to the apartment she taught(using her own money) and baby appointments and baby stuff and even after the baby was born. She has everything going according to plan she's been moving her stuff to her new apartment. A lot has change to their house you can't even tell that a married couples lived there. There are little stuff that belongs there. Looking around the house she reminisce all the things they've been through and think what could have happend with their baby. Crying silently knowing that it would never happend.
During these days five didn't notice anything how her wife suddenly change how her cheerful and loving personality became distant. The wife that used to give him a loving smile turn to a sad small forced smile. But of course he doesn't notice even the sudden change of the house he didn't question it, the disappearance of their pictures together he didn't he doesn't care. One night while the reader making sure that everything is all ready the letter she wants to give him the divorce papers and wedding ring she haven't wearing for weeks/month(you decide tnx). She got a call from five that he has a business trip with this she saw an opportunity a chance for her to leave. Before he can hang up she calls him " hey five....... I love you" while smiling and crying. This is goodbye. Five notice that it she seems to be crying and ask if she's okay. But she chuckles sadly and says it's nothing and with this answer he says okay and hangs up. Looking to her phone one tear drop falls down smiling softly. Looking to the room with full of memories she softly sigh deleting his phone number and changing her phone number. This is it no turning back laying the divorce papers, the letter and lastly her wedding ring. Slowly she pick up the last remaining boxes putting it to her car(it's hers she has it before they even got married). She looked at the house with mixed emotions sadness, happines, anger. Breathing slowly she turns away hop on to her car and left not looking back. This is for the best. For you, to him, and for her baby. But little does she knows she left a very important box.
Sorry I was hoping that you could do what happens next. Like how it will end. I was hoping that I can ask like it's a 2 part like this is the 1st part and then there's another one.but I'm not really sure and I don't want to tier you. There's a lot of ideas of what might happend. I'm in between to an angst ending or angst with fluff ending. I'm actually would like the angst with fluff one but I don't know. So I hope you would decide.
Here's what I think would be the content of the suprise box:
https://images.app.goo.gl/s6aSazMKBJdgMYkx7
Sorry if it's weird that I keep requesting with baby's or children involved. But I can assure you it's nothing weird. I actually just having baby fever. But I'm still a teenager with daddy issues so I'm a sucker for a very angst stories.
Thank you so much again. And i hope I'm not being annoying. It's just that your the very first that actually did my request haha. So thanks again❤️ from.

Your anniversary was coming up close. You thought it was supposed to be a happy occasion, but…nothing was happy as of late. Not for you. Not for your marriage. Or for your baby on the way. It all started when you wanted to surprise Five by going to his office. Only to find him getting a little too close to comfort with his new and so-called "secretary". Yeah. You didn't buy that at all and thus sparked your growing suspicions. Everything progressed in the worst ways, almost feeling like you were living in a horror movie.
I saved every letter you wrote me
From the moment I read them
I knew you were mine
You said you were mine
I thought you were mine
You were in his study, looking through all the letters stacked up on his desk. The envelopes stood out against the dark mahogany, polished and pristine. You had all of the things he sent you kept in here. You thought you were his one and only, his first and last, his forever and always, and his beloved wife. And you also thought he was yours. Your one and only, your first and last, your forever and always, and your beloved husband.
No. Not anymore.
Do you know what my family said
When they saw your first letter arrive?
They said, "Be careful with that one, love,
He will do what it takes to survive."
You remembered the warnings your family gave you when you received the very first love letter Five sent to you. They made you aware that his ambitions might lead him astray and he would do anything he could to come out on top. But you defended him. You thought he would never do anything like that to you. You believed in your words and in his loyalty. Or you thought he was loyal.
You and your words flooded my senses
Your sentences left me defenseless
You built me palaces out of paragraphs
You built cathedrals
But oh, those words. Five's words. How they filled you with so much whimsical romance, hope, and happiness. How elegant he structured the sentences, formed every line, and spoke so admiringly to you. He made you feel safe, cherished, and loved just with mere poetry. It made your heart swell with joy. How foolish you felt for falling for his twisted, romantic lies.
I'm re-reading the letters you wrote me
I'm searching and scanning for answers in every line
For some kind of sign
And when you were mine
The world seemed to burn
You were going through your letters more desperate now, reading between the lines. You needed answers. You needed to know why he wasn't yours and yours alone anymore. You were desperate to know if he was lying from the beginning. That nothing in his previous writings hinted denial of your relationship. That he was willingly giving his heart to you with no second guesses. But so far you was finding nothing. You were coming up empty handed.
I found the letters she wrote you
She reminisced all about that night
How you brought this girl into our bed
In tainting your name
You have ruined our lives
Five grew distant, cold, and unloving towards you over time. You tried to play it off, kept being his adoring wife. But that didn't help you. He rejected it all, stayed at work late, and claimed he was always busy. You felt your suspicions grow so strongly that one night you decided to see what he was really up to. When you saw him making out with his secretary, you fled. Your heart broke into a million pieces, leaving you empty and in unimaginable pain and grief. It all came crashing down when you realized you were right all along. You wanted it to be a lie. You wanted deny it. But you knew it was no use. Nothing could erase what you saw. All that ran through your head was Five's scandalous betrayal behind your back.
Do you know what my family said
When they read what you'd done?
They said, "You've married an Icarus,
He's flown too close to the sun."
Your family was ashamed of Five and what he brought upon you all. They had such hope for him. They had never loved a man you dated more than him. They knew he was the one, because of how lovingly he treated you. They knew he would take care of you. But now? Their faith and belief in him was instantly shattered.
You and your words obsessed with your legacy
Your sentences border on senseless
And you are paranoid in every paragraph
How they perceive you
You, you, you.
You bitterly thought it was always all about Five, wasn't it? He wanted to create a name for himself. He wanted people to remember him, to look up to him, and be inspired by him. He wanted the popularity, the fame, and the fortune. You used to think it was just because he wanted to be great in the world. How blind were you to not truly see it? Is it all because he came from a famous family? Did he think that you marrying him made you two one step closer to having it all? How vain was he truly? How happy was he now that he got what he wanted?
I'm erasing myself from the narrative
Let future historians wonder how I reacted
When you broke my heart
You have torn it all apart
I'm watching it burn
Watching it burn
Your anniversary came as quickly as Five left the day before. You had everything planned out for a perfect and lovely dinner. You had your gift all ready: a positive pregnancy test. You wanted one last special evening with him, but you felt it was all in vain when you waited and waited. You even called him, but felt neglected. Out went dinner and away went the gift. You hid it under the floorboards where you tucked away other items near and dear to you. When Five angrily came home the next day, demanding about why you were so clingy and why you called him so much, it solidified your choice. You thought about your future with your baby and realized you didn't need your so-called husband anymore. You could make a new life and a better one without him. So, you slowly distanced yourself from Five. You found a nice apartment far away from him. You began packing your things without him even noticing, left everything he gave you, faked your admiration for the traitor if he was ever around, and even stopped wearing your wedding ring. If he didn't care about you anymore, why should you care about him? He wouldn't know about you, your feelings, or your reaction. He destroyed everything good involving you and he stained your reputation.
The world has no right to my heart
The world has no place in our bed
They don't get to know what I said
I'm burning the memories
Burning the letters that might have redeemed you
Five would never hear about you, about him, or about your broken marriage. You were throwing it all away, casting it to nothing, and never going back to it ever again. Nobody will ever hear your side or know your story. You smoothly moved your things to your apartment, separated your bank accounts, and separated yourself from him. All that was left was leaving your ring and the divorce papers for him. When you called him for the last time, it took every ounce of strength not to cry. When he told you he was going on a business trip, you felt elated by the opportunity. He opened up your perfect escape. You knew this was goodbye forever, so before he hung up, you were softly crying as you told him you loved him. You heard the concern in his voice when he asked if you were okay, but you lied to him, telling him it was nothing. Just as he lied to you and tore your marriage apart like it was nothing. You looked around the empty study, feeling a bit hopeful for your new future. You blocked and deleted his number before changing yours so he would never contact you again. You gathered up all the letters he sent you, even the first that began your whole relationship. You watched the flame of the fire begin to melt the corner of it, and you dropped it. One after the other, you set fire to them all.
You forfeit all rights to my heart
You forfeit the place in our bed
You'll sleep in your office instead
Five ruined everything for life. He threw away everything you tirelessly built together all these years, making it fall to nothing but ashes at your feet. Never again will you fall for his wicked games. He tore your heart apart and if he ever dared to step foot near your home or your baby, you'd shut him out. Five threw his key to your heart away and it will always be locked from him.
With only the memories of when you were mine
You watched the last love letter burn, falling to your knees and sobbing into your hands. You loved Five. You gave him everything and he took it for granted. You were always there for him but he was never there for you. You stood by his side through it all, yet you rarely had him. You supported his hopes, his dreams, and his ambitions. But you don't care anymore. The only thing you have are former, painful, broken memories of the two of you. Never again shall history repeat itself. You and Five were done.
I hope that you burn...
You put the fire out, wrote your own letter to him, and left the study with a shattered heart. You slipped your wedding ring off, setting it on his bed, along with your letter and the divorce papers. You took a deep breath, packing the remaining boxes you had left into your car. You went around the rather empty house one last time with a mix of emotions: sorrow, anger, betrayal, and happiness. You had so many broken memories here. Memories you will forever leave behind. With a determined stride, you left the house and slid into your car, driving off to a new and better future.

Oblivion
~ * ~
On the 12th hour of the first day of October 1989, 16 women around the world gave birth. This was unusual only in the fact that none of these women had been pregnant when the day first began. Sir Reginald Hargreeves, eccentric billionaire and adventurer, resolved to locate and adopt as many of the children as possible.
He got seven of them.
~ * ~
Going down the tunnel was an experience within itself. Soon, Lila kicked the door open and everyone came out of it rather breathlessly. The White Buffalo suite seemed the same, except everything was backwards.
"Let's never do that again," Viktor panted some.
"What, narrowly escape the apocalypse?" Five remarked, keeping a comforting hold on Karina.
"It's kind of our thing, isn't it?" Diego checked the room protectively.
"There's something very wrong about that," Allison eyed the buffalo's rear end sticking out of the wall.
"Same suite, just ass-backward," Lila returned.
"No hyperbole there," Karina muttered.
"This is some hardcore Alice in Wonderland shit," Ben commented.
"Yeah, it only gets weirder," Diego admitted.
Sir Reginald was the last to come out of the tunnel, and he was out of breath as he shut the door. "At last, the other side."
"Wait. Where's Klaus?" Viktor asked and Five stared at Sir Reginald in shock.
"Children, I'm sorry, but your brother…" he trailed off. "I did all I could, but he didn't make it through in time. The Kugelblitz has claimed its last victim."
"No, he was right behind us when we entered the tunnel," Five argued.
"I saw him behind me," Karina nearly choked out.
"We need to go back," Sloane added.
"There's nothing to go back to. Children, there will be time for tears later," Sir Reginald set off in determination. "Right now, we have to keep moving." He left the room quickly.
"Wait. Luther and Klaus?" Viktor looked around at everyone's somber expressions.
Everyone followed Sir Reginald out of the suite. The hotel seemed to be the same, but there was a lingering feeling in the air that nobody could shake. The feeling that something was off about the hotel.
~ * ~
Everyone rode the elevator down to the main floor and it dinged. The door slid open and Sir Reginald led them out.
"This is magnificent!" Sir Reginald exclaimed.
"You guys should've stayed here," Ben commented as he looked around. "This place is way nicer."
"Lila and I barely got out alive last time. Remember?" Diego reminded him.
"But I'm here this time, and the numbers are in our favor," he boasted.
"Well, whatever it was, it was strong, fast, and super pissed," Lila put in.
Diego went over to the front desk. "Alright, so, whatever you do, do not ring this bell. Unless you wanna lose a finger or a tentacle."
"I'll take my chances-" Sloane began.
"Don't!" Lila stopped her.
"Get out of my way."
"To take out this thing, we need to be in the right state of mind, okay?"
"State of mind? Do you mean, am I angry?" Sloane questioned, her voice thick with grief. "Yes, I am angry. I wanna kill whatever it is that hurt Luther!"
"Luther isn't the only one that's gone," Viktor calmly spoke up. "We lost Klaus too. I'm angry, okay? We all are. We have to be smart about this."
Karina saw Five slowly go towards the doors and for a split second, she hesitated to follow him. However, the stars on the floor caught her eye and she frowned, wondering why they looked familiar to her.
"Yeah. When the time is right, we'll act," Lila told Sloane.
"Don't even try it, Five," Diego told him. "Doors won't let you out."
"So, what, we're stuck here?" Karina was in blatant disbelief as Five blinked over to her side.
"This place is a test and a trap and a means of salvation, all at once," Sir Reginald announced.
"Does anyone know what that sign says?" Viktor looked at it.
"Yeah, it says "Do not ring the bell"," Diego answered. "That's what that means."
"We get it, Diego. Bell bad," Five went over to them.
"What do we do? Does anybody know?" Karina asked quietly.
"Reggie?" Allison tried to get his attention. "Reggie."
Sir Reginald flipped some pages in his journal.
"I'm hungry. Does anyone fancy an unagi roll?" Lila spoke up as she headed off.
"How can you possibly eat at a time like this?" Ben questioned.
"I don't know. How can you be a dick at a time like this?"
"Hey!" Diego walked over.
"Oh, you'll-" Ben began.
"Back off, all right?" Diego interrupted. "She's eating for-"
"Strength," Lila cut him off. "In these trying times. Diego, can you come with me for a second?"
The two left the others, heading over to the cafeteria area. Meanwhile Five, Karina, and Viktor were sitting in a corner, watching Sir Reginald thoughtfully.
"Nah, it's like the old man said. Once is happenstance, twice is coincidence, and three times ain't gonna happen 'cause I'm not a gibbering idiot," Five rambled.
"Well, we can't be sure he killed Klaus or Luther," Viktor pointed out.
Five stared at him. "You serious? This is his modus operandi. We've seen this before. Have you forgotten how we all came together in the first place?"
"Dad's funeral."
"Exactly. He pulled this on you rubes before, and he's doing it again now."
"Come on, Five," Viktor disagreed.
"No, he has a point, Viktor," Karina was anxiously fiddling with her ring. "Think about it. He lost the vote to come through the tunnel, yet here we are. He comes in mere moments after we all do upon finding Luther's body. Almost as if he already knew. And as for Klaus, the only two people left in the tunnel were them. I saw them, but something in the tunnel forced me to go forward. I'm telling you, something isn't right!"
"Which unnerves me because, well, I've never seen her so uncharacteristically worked up like this over something before," Five added, grabbing Karina's shaking hand.
"Are you really sure that he could kill Luther?" Viktor was hesitant.
"I think he could kill Luther, Klaus, and the rest of us without breaking a moral sweat," Five leaned forward. "And what's worse, we think Allison is involved."
"No. No," Viktor scoffed and shook his head. "No, she…she was with Sloane in the tunnel."
"I'm not talking about Klaus," Five bit out.
"Luther? What?" Viktor was even more shocked. "No, she would never do that."
"She's been unraveling since we got to this timeline," Karina pointed out.
"Yeah, she lost her daughter."
"And she killed Harlan."
"Look, even if you're right, I can't imagine they're just gonna come clean if we confront them," Viktor commented.
"We agree," Five sighed as all three eyed Allison tending to Sloane.
"Gather up, children," Sir Reginald announced, descending down the stairs quickly. "Now that we've had a chance to catch our breath, the real work can begin."
"Ah, the myth of the seven bells, eh?" Five stood up with the other two.
"Exactly. Somebody's been paying attention."
"Okay, so we find the bells, then what?" Diego questioned.
"No, no, no. The bells are just a metaphor for this," Sir Reginald showed a familiar drawing to everyone.
Five clicked his tongue. "The sigil."
"Correct, Number Five. The sigil is the key to the seven bells," Sir Reginald explained, "Once we find this symbol, we're one step closer to resetting the universe."
"What do we do when we find it?" Karina crossed her arms.
"I don't know."
Sloane gasped.
"Excuse me?" Viktor piped up. "We're here because you said you have a plan."
"I do, up to a point," Sir Reginald admitted.
Lila snickered. "Great. So we'll just stay in the hotel forever, staring at the walls and eating bad sushi."
"Finding the sigil is our only way out of here and the best chance we have of resetting the universe," Allison spoke up.
"Funny how you and Dad are on the same page again," Five observed coolly.
"Not to mention you suddenly know so much about the sigil and apparently resetting the universe," Karina raised her eyebrow.
Allison was glaring at them. "You know, sometimes I really miss the days where your wife just quietly followed you around and barely spoke a word," she shot at Five and he clenched his jaw angrily.
"Okay, uh, where do we start?" Viktor cut through the tension.
"We'll split into groups," Sir Reginald replied. "I will go with Allison, Karina, and Sloane, Ben and Five, you're with Viktor."
"No, we want Allison," Viktor argued.
"Rina stays with me no matter what group you force us to be with. Try to split us up again and I will kill you," Five threatened Sir Reginald. "Ben for Allison. We've trained together, so it makes more sense if we take Allison."
"Yeah. No, thanks," Allison remarked.
"Why not?" Karina looked at her narrowly and suspiciously.
Allison subtly glanced at Sir Reginald.
"Splendid idea," he announced. "Allison, you go with the Umbrellas. Sparrows, stick together. Everyone take a different floor. We must find that sigil."
"What about us?" Lila asked as everyone began to split up.
"You're a duo. Nobody wants to listen to your endless bickering," Sir Reginald answered. "Now, spread out, leave no stone unturned, and meet back here in 30 minutes," he instructed in everyone's wake.
~ * ~
Allison, Viktor, Five, and Karina slowly sauntered into a room.
"Someone went through a lot of trouble to hide this thing," Allison went over to a cabinet.
"How big is it supposed to be?" Viktor glanced around.
"You know, dear old Reg didn't say."
Five walked into the room a bit more. "Really? Hm. That's surprising. I figured you'd know more about his plan," he commented.
"Sorry, what's that supposed to mean?" Allison looked at him.
"Rina and I saw you and him in the White Buffalo Suite during the wedding," he accused.
"I don't know if now's the right time-" Viktor began.
Allison cut him off. "You know, I heard that you blacked out last night and Karina tended to your side. Big shocker."
"I did, and it took me a while to remember what I saw, but I do remember, Allison," Five remarked. "You and Dad made some kind of deal."
Allison chuckled in disbelief, watching him walk over to her.
"What did you agree to?" Five continued relentlessly.
"A deal?"
"Mm-hmm."
"With Dad? Please tell me you're joking."
"He's not," Karina was watching Allison closely.
"Answer the question," Five nearly dared her.
"You're out of your mind. Both of you," Allison retorted.
"You and Sir Reginald make a deal, now Luther is dead. Looks pretty suspicious to me," Karina put in.
Allison chuckled again. "Okay. Luther was killed by whatever the hell that thing is."
"And Klaus?" Five prodded her.
"He didn't make it into the tunnel."
"You know, your deal is costing people their lives," Five accused.
"Do you really think that I made a deal with Dad to kill Luther and Klaus?" Allison seethed, looking at them. "I'm done. I'll meet you in the lobby." She stormed out.
"Hey…Hey, wait, no," Viktor sighed. "Wait…Five," he scoffed in disbelief, running out after her. "Allison. No, just listen to me."
Five and Karina left the room, but the hallway looked different. Instead of a hall, there was a wall.
"Viktor? Allison?" Five called out, pulling Karina close to his side.
"Okay, this just keeps getting worse by the second," she was pressed against him tightly.
The two continued to find a way out. But they kept running into dead ends.
Five sighed. "All right, so now the fun starts."
"You and I have very different definitions of fun," Karina remarked.
"Come on. Let's find a way out of this hellhole," Five gave her forehead a comforting kiss.
The two wandered around the floor, wondering if there was an end to it. What felt like hours later, they found Sloane and Ben.
"I can't believe I'm saying this. I'm actually glad to see you guys," Five greeted.
"What's wrong?" Sloane looked and sounded like she was a mix between angry and upset.
"The hotel is changing," Karina replied. "We've been walking around in circles, but it's like the thing is alive."
"We should get to the lobby," Ben snarled some.
"Tried it. Whatever direction we choose, we end up in the same spot," Five returned.
"Or maybe you have no sense of direction," Ben fired off.
"Calm it, calamari," Karina snapped.
"Okay, lead the way, Magellan," Five added in a snarky tone.
Ben hesitated for a split second and then shook his head, scoffing as he went off. The three followed him. Not much longer after that, suddenly what sounded like a gong resonated in the air. The lights flickered and took on an eerie gold glow. The floor rumbled ever so slightly and the four exchanged a nervous look.
They rounded a corner only to see a guardian appear. He twirled his sword around menacingly.
"Really? A samurai?" Ben was exasperated.
The samurai growled. However, Sloane yelled angrily and charged at it, jumping over it and landing on the other side. The guardian turned with his sword raised, but, she conjured two orbs in her hands and tried destroying it from the inside, straining.
"Revenge looks good on her," Ben commented.
Five eyed him in exasperation. "Would you shut up and help us kill this thing?"
He grabbed an axe off the wall and Karina grabbed a katana hanging below it. He blinked them out and over to the guardian, hitting and stabbing at it. Sloane kept using her power to keep the guardian in place as Ben hung out on the sideline, watching them fight.
That fight eventually led to the four hiding in the laundry room behind a bunch of machines.
"You've hit him with your axe five times and that katana twice as much. He should be dead by now," Ben pointed out.
"The armor. It's like hitting cement," Five replied.
"There's a space between the backplates," Sloane was out of breath.
"We need to get behind him," Karina caught on.
The guardian was snarling and waiting for them to make their next move.
"Let's kill this thing," Five nodded, seeing Sloane jump to her feet. "Wait-Sloane!"
"Hey, asshоlе!" Sloane shouted.
"Shit!" Five blinked out with Karina.
Sloane leapt over a table as the guardian threw a knife, slicing her arm. She wailed in pain, groaning when she hit the floor. The guardian roared as Five and Karina appeared in front of him. Karina ducked as the guardian hit Five, sending him to the ground.
"Well, fuck you too!" Karina dodged the guardian's sword. She blocked it, starting to sword fight him, though it was kind of useless on her behalf. "Shit! Come on!" she was losing her strength quickly as the guardian growled and snarled.
"Rina!" Five groggily sat up, feeling his head swimming chaotically as Sloane looked up.
The guardian knocked the katana out of her hand.
"Shit!" she cried as he grabbed her throat, starting to choke her.
"NO!" Five staggered to his feet.
Ben suddenly joined the fray and yelled, sending his tentacles out. They wrapped around the guardian as one grabbed Karina by the waist to save her.
The guardian growled, fighting against the tentacles constricting him. Ben strained, making the tentacle around the guardian's arm squeeze it hard. The guardian released Karina as the tentacle around her saved her from falling.
She and Ben wailed in pain when the guardian snarled and broke through all the tentacles, slicing one of them and slicing through Karina's side.
She screamed and fell to the floor at Five's feet, gasping and choking for air. He angrily grabbed the axe and yelled, slamming it into the guardian's back. The guardian fell to his knees and then onto the floor. The four looked around breathlessly.
"Rina!" Five raced to her.
She coughed, sputtering some. "I'm okay. I'm okay," she wheezed, unaware of her injured side.
He carefully helped her to her feet and gazed into her eyes. "Are you all right?"
"Yes," she nodded. "Thank you for saving me," she weakly managed to say to Ben.
Ben nodded solemnly and the four quickly rushed out of the laundry room.
~ * ~
The four got back to the lobby, only to see Viktor and Allison surrounding an alive Klaus.
"Klaus," Five breathed out in shock.
"You look like hell," Viktor saw the four.
"Why don't you try killing a guardian?" Five remarked.
"We just did."
"So did we," Ben responded.
Before anyone could say anything else, Karina inhaled sharply and her legs gave out from beneath her.
"Rina! Shit!" Five barely caught her with Ben's help. "Rina, what's wrong?"
Karina was grimacing in pain, grabbing her side as she yelped.
"Oh my God-" Sloane was horrified.
"Shit, my darling, why didn't you say something?" Five cursed, tearing off his jacket to try to stop the bleeding.
"I…I…didn't feel it…" Karina grabbed his arm. "S-Stop…"
"No! You're not dying on me!" he pressed the jacket onto her side, making her wail in pain.
"What's going on?" Lila raced over with Diego. She gasped when she saw them on the ground.
"Goddamnit, not her, too…" Diego breathed out.
"Help me out for God's sake! Somebody, find a place where I can stitch her wound!" Five demanded, seeing her blood soak through the jacket and puddle onto the floor.
"Five, no. It's no use," Karina strained out.
"Shhh. Save your breath while I save your life."
"Five, please, stop," she grabbed his bloody hand. She looked at him with tears in her eyes. "Stop, it's no use. I'm already dying."
Five was choking up as he gently scooped her into his arms, letting her head rest on his lap. "Don't leave me. Don't you dare leave me. I need you."
"You need to save the world," Karina coughed.
That was when it all came crashing down on Five. He looked down at her in realization. Old Five was warning him that not saving the world was the only way to save his world. He didn't mean the universe.
He meant his wife.
"My love, you are my world," Five was fighting desperately not to let the tears fall. "We should have stayed behind. I should have listened to you. I'm so sorry…"
"How did this happen anyway?" Lila glanced around.
"I'll tell you!" Klaus piped up rather angrily. "What you guys need to know right now is that Dad killed Luther. And he locked me out of the tunnel, and he rang that stupid bell!"
That fueled the fire in everyone.
"What's your plan, old man?" Five spat angrily, grasping Karina to his chest.
"We don't have time for this," Sir Reginald dismissed him.
"You killed Luther! And now Karina is dying no thanks to you!" Sloane cried.
"I had no choice with him. You refused to come together as a team," Sir Reginald remarked.
"All of your stupid myths and stories. There were never seven bells or Norsemen. You brought us here to die!" Ben snapped.
"That's not so. Somewhere in this hotel is the key to resetting the universe. We just need to find the sigil!"
"I don't care about your sigil! None of us do!" Sloane seethed.
"We barely survived that guardian with his stupid helmet and his sickle!" Diego exclaimed.
Viktor paused. "The guardian we killed had an axe."
"Ours had a sword," Karina breathed out as her eyes started to flutter.
"No, no no, stay with me. Don't leave me!" Five lightly tapped her face in a panic. "Rina, listen to me! Come on, don't die! Don't do this to me, love of mine!"
"How many more of us have to die for your mission?" Sloane bit out. "HOW MANY?!"
Klaus knelt down next to Five and Karina. Her head lulled some and Five tried to steady it on his chest.
"This is what you wanted, huh? Funerals to bring everyone together?" Five snarled to Sir Reginald.
"Your wife was unlucky and not someone I expected to go, but she was getting too smart for her own good. She was getting too close to the truth."
"That doesn't justify her bleeding to death in my arms!"
"Five," Karina whimpered slightly.
Five looked down at her. "Hey, it's okay. It's me. I'm here," he took her hand. "What is it, my darling?"
"I-I'm scared."
"Don't be. Where you go is probably going to be somewhere peaceful and nice. I imagine you'll find yourself tucked away in a nice cottage with a lot of fresh, open air. Maybe you'll find a bakery or two nearby. And you might get a dog? You look like a dog person," Klaus comforted her.
"Maybe your parents will be there to greet you," Five failed miserably to smile. "And they'll take care of you for me. I know they would."
Karina winced some more. "I…I hope so…" she felt her eyelids growing heavier. "I'm getting really tired now."
"You should…you should sleep now, my angel," Five shakily brushed some hair out of her face. "Sleep and rest. I'll save the world, I promise."
"I know you will," Karina looked at him weakly. "I love you."
"I love you, too. So, so much, no matter what. Apocalypses and timelines be damned," Five choked out. "I love you, my darling, no matter what timeline we're in or what apocalypse we stop."
"I'll see you on the other side, I hope," Karina faintly smiled.
Desperately, Five took her face and kissed her, letting his tears fall freely now.
"Please don't leave me, Karina," he quietly sobbed out, his lips brushing against hers. "I love you."
When he pulled back, her eyes were closed and she had fallen still.
Perfectly, peacefully still.
Karina Hargreeves, the love of his life, was gone.

"Mommy, where are we going?" five year old Karina's voice asked.
"Away for a little bit. You and I get to go on a vacation," her mother's voice replied.
"Mommy, he keeps hurting us. I'm scared!" ten year old Karina exclaimed.
"I know, my love bug. But there's no need to be scared. I'm here and I'll protect you no matter what," her mother reassured her.
"I have a job for you. A job that meets all your skill sets and one that will help you and your mother escape that monster she calls an ex-boyfriend," the Handler's voice proposed.
"Calm down, I'm not here to hurt you. I'm Five Hargreeves. That being said, will you please put that down?" the voice of eighteen year old Five asked.
"I'm gonna find us a way home, I swear," Five promised.
"Marry me. I know it won't be the dream wedding you imagined but, I want you to marry me."
"I've found us a way home, Rina. We're going back to 2019."
"I'm never going to leave you."
"I swore to myself that I would always protect you, but, I realize now that I can't always do that and I need to learn to trust myself that you can handle things."
"Wouldn't mind a few more minutes breathing air through the old windbags and spending a little more time with you, my love."
"I love you no matter what timeline we're in or what apocalypse we stop."
"Please don't leave me, Karina. I love you."

Karina gasped and sat up, finding herself in a gorgeous white suite. But it didn't feel sinister like Hotel Obsidian or suspicious like The Commission. The suite felt soothing and peaceful.
"Where am I?" she muttered, going over to the vanity. She noticed though that her injury was gone.
Hair styling products and a case of makeup littered the countertop. There was a small jewelry case showing off a sparkling set. Karina frowned, turning to see a lovely wedding dress and a veil hanging from the bedpost.
"What?" she whispered, hearing a bicycle bell ring out in the hall. Karina went out of the room, seeing a little girl riding down the hall on a bicycle. "Excuse me?"
The little girl turned around. "Oh. You. I didn't expect you to be here this soon."
"Where is here?" Karina frowned. "I'm dead. Aren't I?"
"Well, not exactly. You've fallen unconscious. There's still a small part of you that's alive. Not much though. You're about on the brink of death."
"That's not comforting at all. Is that why this place is so empty? I'm not fully dead?"
"You're very perceptive."
"But am I wrong?"
The little girl slowly rode her bicycle over to her. "No."
"So, this is it? When I fully die, wherever I am will become chock full of people?" Karina bit her lip.
"Maybe. Maybe not. You might get sent back."
"Sent back? Sent where?"
"Back to life."
"Is that even possible?"
The little girl shrugged. "I don't know. All I know is you're here very early."
"Blame the guardian for killing me when I wasn't ready to die yet," Karina commented bitterly.
The little girl looked at her.
"What do I do now? Even in the afterlife I'm alone?" Karina sank to the floor. "I don't even have my parents?"
"You probably won't be here for much longer."
"How do you know that? You said I'm on the brink of death's doorstep. Who's to say that I won't die for real?" Karina sulked, feeling tears well up in her eyes.
"Hard to say."
"Of course it is!" Karina burst out, starting to cry now. "For all my life I've been running from people, trying to save people, and for what? I thought I was saving my mother, but I signed my teenaged years away. I thought I was saving myself, but I stranded myself in an apocalypse. I thought Five and I were saving the world, but instead we doomed our families. I've lost more than I've gained. I thought I'd at least be given the chance of reuniting with my parents when I'm dead, but even then I'm alone! And my husband is fighting for his life in that hell hole and who knows what he's being put through! I just want peace for once!" she cried even harder, not even realizing how much pent up trauma she had yet to release. "I never asked for my life to be so broken."
The air filled with her quiet sobs and all she wished was for someone to hold her. She didn't care who. She yearned for her mother, but she ached for her husband. She just wanted to know that she wouldn't be alone.
Eventually, her tears ceased and she miserably wiped her eyes.
"I'm sorry," she choked out, attempting to recompose herself.
The little girl nodded. "I hope you find comfort in knowing you won't be alone soon."
"Beg pardon?" Karina looked up at her in confusion.
"You're not needed here right now. You need to wake up."
"Wake up? How?" Karina slowly stood up, hearing a faint wind begin to whistle around her.
"Like this is all some surreal dream. You're waking up right now," the little girl told her over the noise.
"Wait! Where am I going?!" Karina exclaimed.
"Someplace better than here for the moment. You'll see!"
Suddenly, a bright light flashed and her surroundings vanished.
~ * ~
Karina found herself standing in a park. It was nighttime and a cool breeze swept through the trees. But, she didn't feel dead. She felt…
Alive.
"Luther?" Viktor sounded from behind her. "Luther?"
Karina whipped around to see Luther, Viktor, Diego, Lila, Ben, and Five.
"Oh shit. You can see me?" Luther gasped.
"Yes!" Viktor exclaimed.
"I'm alive? I'm alive!" he cheered.
"Yes!" Viktor gasped as Luther excitedly picked him up in a huge hug.
"Oh!" Luther was relieved.
Five glanced over and his whole face lit up when he saw Karina standing there.
"RINA!" he shouted.
"Five!" Karina inhaled and the two ran to one another.
Five grabbed her in a hug, spinning her around happily.
"Rina, my love! Oh my God, I thought I lost you! You're alive!" Five checked over her after he set her on her feet.
"Yes! I'm here, my darling, I'm here," Karina nodded with a growing smile.
Five beamed and smothered kisses all over her face, making her laugh.
"Oh, Five!" she giggled as he pulled back breathlessly, cupping her face and gazing at her. "I think you missed a spot."
Five grinned and pulled her in for a deep kiss, never wanting to let her go.
"Luther and Karina are alive!" Klaus cheered.
"Oh my God!" Lila perked up when she saw Karina.
"Karina!" Diego beamed.
"You're back!" Viktor smiled and went over to hug her.
"I am," Karina nodded as the happy couple rejoined the others and she hugged him back.
Viktor pulled back and looked at Luther in realization. "And, that's not all, big guy," he pointed to Luther.
"Huh?" he was confused, before he noticed his normal body. "Whoa! Oh shit! My body! Wait." He looked at himself in awe. "I look amazing."
"Luther's all svelte now," Klaus wiggled his brows.
"Wait. I gotta show Sloane!" Luther gasped.
Five was stunned as he looked at his left arm. "I got my arm back."
"Did you lose it?" Karina immediately grew concerned.
"Shhh. It's all right. I'm fine now, my darling. I'll tell you later," he immediately soothed her.
"This is so cool," Luther paused when he looked around. "W-Wait. Where's Sloane?"
"Oh, she was, uh…" Klaus glanced at him. "She was right behind me-"
"When Allison hit the bloody button," Lila finished.
"She's gone too," Diego noticed.
"You know, I don't know about you guys, but I have not felt this good in years," Klaus spoke as Five, Karina, and some of the others began to look around for the others.
"Does anyone know where the hell we are?" Ben questioned.
"The hotel. Or at least this is where it used to be," Lila responded.
"I think the old man did it," Five commented, glancing at Karina. "I think he reset the universe."
"You got your fingers back," Lila laughed as Diego held up his hand.
"Sloane? Sloane!" Luther was frantic now. "Hey," he went over and grabbed Five by his jacket. "I don't care about any resets, all right? I want my wife back. Where is she, Five?"
"Luther, calm down, maybe she's somewhere else," Karina spoke up nervously.
"Rina's right. I'm glad you're alive, but take your hand off me," Five told him calmly.
"Not until you give me an answer," Luther shook him some and Five glared at him.
"Okay, screw this," Five jerked forward, but he didn't go anywhere.
Karina inhaled sharply as he looked at her in a bit of a panic before glancing around at everyone in concern.
"Something's wrong," Five tried to blink again.
"That's right. You're about to get your ass kicked," Luther taunted.
"Yeah, kick his ass," Diego grinned and both Lila and Karina shot him a look.
"No, you moron. My power. I can't blink," Five remarked.
"Yeah, right," Luther slowly let him go.
Diego unsheathed a knife and tried to do one of his tricks, but the knife clattered onto the ground. "That's not good."
Viktor tried to summon his power, but failed. Ben strained to conjure his tentacles, however nothing happened.
"Okay. Come on," Klaus waved his hand around. "Alakazam…ghosties." He paused. "This means I'm mortal again? Aw man!"
Five looked at his left wrist.
"Your Umbrella tattoo," Karina softly noticed.
"It's gone," he glanced up at her.
"Wait, wait, wait!" Ben exclaimed. "How do we get 'em back, you idiots?"
"Shit," Klaus whispered.
"I gotta…I gotta go find my wife," Luther stuttered as he ran off.
"No! Luther, you can't go. You were dead five minutes ago. You're fragile!" Klaus whined in his wake. "I gotta go after him."
"No. Wa-Klaus, wait!" Diego tried to stop him, but Klaus left too.
"I'm out, bitches," Ben angrily snarled and stalked off.
"No, guys, wait!" Viktor looked around. "Come on. We should stick together and figure this out!"
"What are we supposed to do?" Diego pointed out.
Lila looked up at him. "Live our lives?"
He glanced down, taking her hand. He nodded and the two left as well. All that remained were Five, Karina, and Viktor. Viktor looked at them pleadingly, but Five sighed and shook his head.
"They're right. Live our lives is all we can do right now," Five admitted quietly.
"So, that's it? We all just go our separate ways?" Viktor was disheartened.
"For now, that is. I'm sorry," Karina hugged him sadly. "Goodbye, Viktor. I hope we'll see everyone again soon."
Viktor just nodded.
"Come on, my angel," Five gently slipped his hand into Karina's.
The two left the garden as well, off to try to navigate their way through this strange new world together.

For the part 3 :
After the Hargreeves lost their powers, they started living their separate lives and of course, Luther, Klaus and the reader are alive.
Five and the Reader live together in a fairly modest apartment, but since the accident with the guardian last time in Part 2, the Reader has lost the use of her legs and she is in a wheelchair.
Five works as a math teacher at a university and the reader paints pictures to resell.
At the moment she was feeling a little sad and she was painting a lot of sad pictures.
The fact that she is in a wheelchair makes her think that Five no longer loved her at all because she had become useless. Five comes home from work a little late and finds her painting in the living room.
She begins to get angry with him, shouting at him that he no longer thinks of her at all and an argument ensues between the two.
The reader suddenly starts to cry explaining to him that she was afraid that he would leave her because she had supposedly become useless to him and Five obviously did everything to console her.
here it is ^^
Meet Me In the Afterglow {Five Hargreeves x Fem!Reader}
Summary: You didn't expect your future to be this way. No apocalypse to stop or briefcase to track down. Just living your life with Five Hargreeves. Or living your life as much as you could. Being confined to a wheelchair made you feel a new kind of vulnerability. A kind of vulnerability that you knew would take a while to get used to. One night, your emotions get the best of you when you find yourself feeling everything at once.
Pairing: Five Hargreeves x Fem!Reader
Author's Note: Here's part three to Books and Banter and To Love and Protect. This is way shorter than I expected it to be, but my original draft somehow got erased so I had to rewrite it. Super duper rude.

You were gazing at the half painted canvas in front of you. Your days felt uneventful but peaceful. It was nice. No more worlds ending. No more fighting. No more time traveling. Your days were spent at home, painting or reading. Ever since the fight with the guardian, you'd lost your ability to walk and found yourself confined to a wheelchair.
That hosted a whole new set of trials and tribulations. A set that you and Five were trying to triumph over. You never thought you'd lose your ability to walk, yet here you were. You knew you had no control over it, but it still left you feeling a whole list of emotions. Frustration was definitely at the top.
You felt completely and utterly useless. You couldn't do everything that you used to and you often relied on Five when in reality you felt like you could do it. If only you could walk. When Five wasn't teaching, things were easier. But he wasn't. He was at work right now and you were painting to pass the time. At least your situation sparked your love for art again. But, it began making you wonder where you stood in Five's life and if he even loved you still after everything that happened.
Especially tonight. He was later than usual and it was irritating you. You didn't even know why, but you just felt like you were spiraling out of control, emotional wise.
"Hey, Y/N, I'm home," Five announced as he opened the door.
The two of you were also trying to get accustomed to the fact that he lost his powers. So, he couldn't conveniently blink around places like he used to.
"Hey," you returned in more of a mumble, still staring blankly at the canvas. Suddenly you didn't feel like finishing it.
"That's pretty. I like all the colors," he came over to your side, looking at your artwork. "The different shades of blue blend together very aesthetically."
"Thanks."
Five frowned some. "What's wrong, love?" he knelt down, looking at you in concern.
"You're home late. Again. This is the third or fourth time!" you replied, not even bothering to look at him. You continued to focus painting, even though you just felt like exploding.
"Okay…I'm sorry. I was grading papers and I had a meeting with a student."
"And, you didn't bother to tell me, why?"
"I didn't think you expected me to."
"Well, of course not, but it'd be the polite and courteous thing to do!"
"What are you getting so upset for?"
"I'm not upset."
That was a lie. You were. Though you had no idea. You were in such a strange, suddenly bitter mood that if someone even breathed incorrectly, you'd snap.
"You were never the best at lying. Tell me what's going on, please."
"Nothing is going on, Five."
"You're ignoring me."
"You didn't bother to tell me you'd be home late for the fourth night in a row."
"Are we still stuck on this?" he was exasperated. "Look. You know I like to stay a few minutes after class ends so I can grade papers."
"Minutes is not the same as hours," you retorted, jabbing your paintbrush on the canvas a little too harshly.
"What the hell," Five mumbled, trying not to lose his composure. "What do you expect me to do? Drop everything once class ends and hurry home? You know my job doesn't end when the class bell rings."
"Well, it would be nice to see you at night. In case you didn't realize, you're hardly around anymore," you were still trying to concentrate on your painting.
"With valid reasoning! I'm just trying to get my work done!"
"And forget me in the process? Gosh, it's like you don't care!" you exclaimed.
"Like I don't care? What's that supposed to mean? Of course I care!" Five felt like your words just harshly slapped him across the face.
"Really? Because it doesn't feel like it to me. You're never here! I don't see you as much as I used to!" you finally turned to face him.
"Is this how you really see me?" he stared at you in disbelief.
"Did you not hear what I just said?"
"I heard you accuse me for not caring. Of course I care. I take care of you. Whatever you can't do, I do it for you. If you ask for anything, I get it for you. I help you with your meds, showers, getting places, and whatever else you need. How can you say that?"
"Are you even listening to me? That's not the same thing!"
"Oh really? Please, tell me how I don't care then," Five bit out coldly.
You clenched your jaw. "You never tell me where you are. You merely speak at the dinner table. You're almost always at your desk. You never spend time with me. The only time I see you is when you are doing things for me."
"I have long days and I don't always feel like talking," he remarked.
"So you opt for ignoring me instead unless it's for care giving? I'm not your patient, Five," you scoffed.
"I never said you were!"
"All the things you listed sounded like you were my nurse, not my boyfriend. You don't do things with me anymore. You just…do things for me."
"I have a lot on my plate!"
"Then why did you take the job if you knew it was going to drain you so much?"
"In case you didn't notice, the job market here isn't very wide and accommodating in terms of variety," Five arched his eyebrow. "I'm trying to provide for us, you know."
"Which I appreciate, but I would also appreciate it if you didn't work yourself to death. There isn't an apocalypse needing solving and there is no world needing saving. Did you know that?"
"I'm not working myself to death. I'm fine! I was perfectly fine until you started chewing me out. Will you please just calm down? I don't want to fight right now," Five sighed.
"I have a valid reason to be mad! So don't blame me for that!" you turned your wheelchair to leave him.
"Y/N, no. Stop. Stop. Stop, please! Just stop!" he grabbed your hand. "We aren't leaving this room until you tell me what's going on!" he nearly demanded.
"Don't use that tone with me!" you yanked your hand out of his grasp. "And you don't get to make demands!"
"What is wrong with you? Or what is going on? That's all I want to know!"
"Have you not been listening to me? I feel like you don't care about me anymore. And that you don't think about me."
"And have you not been listening to me? I do care about you and I do think about you!"
"Saying it is not the same as showing it. I know you're here, but I can't feel you," you swallowed a forming lump in your throat.
"Then what do you want me to do? Quit my job? That's not exactly an option here."
"I never said that."
"Then what are you saying?!" Five burst out. "For God's sake, just tell me what the hell is your problem, because your anger is running deeper and hotter than what you're leading with!"
The two of you stared at each other, almost daring one another to speak or move. Your glare slowly melted away and you felt your anger gave way to a plethora of emotions you thought you'd never feel at once. Grief, anger, frustration, fury, sorrow, misery, remorse, and rage washed over you like a tidal wave and you sank six feet under its force. You felt like you were stabbed im the abdomen over again.
Truth is, you didn't mean to lash out on Five like that. You really, truly didn't mean to take your anger out on him. You wanted to take everything you said back. You felt awful.
"Y/N?" Five softly asked, his anger evidently leaving as well.
You ended up breaking down, wanting nothing more than to curl up beneath a blanket and hide from the world. He swept over to your side and hugged you, letting you cry into him.
"My poor love. I'm sorry. I'm so sorry. I don't know what you're going through, but I'm here for you. I got you," he whispered as you sobbed into his chest.
You barely nodded, clinging to him like he was your security blanket. And in a way, he was. You didn't know what you'd do if you lost him and you'd rather never find out. You felt awful for lashing out on him like you did. You didn't mean what you said and you didn't mean to go off on him. He didn't deserve it.
"It hurts. It hurts so much," you managed to choke out.
"What hurts? Are you in pain? I can get your meds…" Five strung out.
You shook your head. "N-No…stay with me. Please. Just be with me. That's all I ask of you." You miserably pulled away.
"I'm here. I'm not going anywhere," he gently wiped your eyes. "Tell me what's going on, my love."
"I feel useless. I just sit around and do nothing. I don't do anything productive," you lamented. "And I-I was afraid that you'd leave me, because of it," you swallowed hard.
Five's eyes grew huge and he looked heartbroken. "Why would you ever think that?"
"Because I can't do anything anymore and you…well…you end up doing all of it for me…I just feared you'd get tired of it."
"That isn't your fault. I would never think you're useless. In fact, I know you're not useless. I know there's a lot you can't do, but you still do so much," he returned.
"I don't feel like it."
"I know, but from my perspective, you do. You're so strong willed and determined, which are two things I love so much about you. You don't let anything or anyone stop you from doing what you need or want to do. My darling, as long as you put your mind to it, you can do anything," Five told you lovingly. "I'm sorry if I made you feel like a patient. I'll try to be better in the future about that. I didn't realize I was making you feel that way…" he glanced down guiltily.
"No, don't apologize. I should be the one apologizing. I let my anger take over and I shouldn't have jumped down your throat like I did," you returned.
He smiled softly. "I forgive you. And I'm sorry you're feeling this way. How can I help?"
"By just being there for me and with me. Please."
"I can do that. I promise."
And you knew Five Hargreeves always kept his promises.

Seven Bells
~ * ~
The next morning, Five found himself in the kitchen, asleep on the counter. Karina was curled up on the floor below him.
"Why?" he groaned, wondering where in the world he was. He looked down at Karina. "What did we get up to last night?"
Five tried to remember. All that raced through his fuzzy memories was the drunken wedding toast speech he gave Luther and Sloane last night. But most of all, he thought over what he and Karina saw regarding Sir Reginald in the suite.
"Who the hell was he talking to?" he whispered, slowly getting down. "Who was the old man talking to?" he frowned to himself. He remembered Karina being there with him, so, he hoped she knew.
On that note, he knelt down next to Karina. "Hey, I'm sorry, but, I need to wake you up, my angel," he shook her shoulder.
Karina moaned a bit. "Hm?"
"It's time to get up," he softly smiled.
"What time is it?" she rubbed her eyes.
"I don't know," he gently helped her up.
"Ugh. It's stuffy in here."
Five laughed, grabbing some bottles of liquor nearby. "How about we go outside for…whatever fresh air is left out there. Spend some alone time. Sober, alone time."
"I'd like that," she smiled and kissed his cheek.
Taking her hand, he blinked them outside. They looked around sadly, seeing that not much remained of the world they once called home.
"It's so scary out here," Karina looked around sadly.
"Peacefully scary," Five sat down on the edge of the street, patting the area next to him.
She sat down, smiling more when he wrapped an arm around her. She rested her head on his shoulder, feeling him kiss her temple. The two enjoyed the comfortable silence for a bit, before Five detected footsteps. His grip tightened around her some.
"Reginald," Five greeted coolly, looking up at him.
"I take it you know why I'm here," Sir Reginald returned.
"How 'bout we save you some time? Give you the "no" upfront. We're not the least bit interested in this bullshit plan you've been cooking and there is no way in hell you will get my wife involved."
"It's not, as you so colorfully called it, bullshit," Sir Reginald argued. Five rolled his eyes and took a swig of his liquor. "Mind if I join you? Actually, appreciate some…solitude," Sir Reginald sat down as the couple eyed him.
"Mhm," Five mused. "It seems we won't get any." He offered the alcohol to him.
Sir Reginald took a drink. "Dear God!" he exclaimed in disgust.
"Mhm. Louis XIII, it ain't," Five stared ahead. "I've had worse." He took the bottle from next to him. He rested the side of his head on Karina's.
"I see you two are still together and stronger than ever," Sir Reginald glanced at her.
"That's usually how marriages work, last time I checked anyways," she remarked.
"You've got a sharp tongue. Good wit and instincts, I figure?"
"Came with the training, I suppose."
"From what I've heard, you are an extraordinarily clever girl. You have a fighting spirit, seem to figure things out without even saying a word, and yet, no powers to accompany you."
"Sometimes we don't need powers to prove our worth," Karina commented boldly.
Sir Reginald nodded, considering her words carefully. "It is impressive, isn't it?" he was looking at the swirling sky.
"All the ways we could have screwed the pooch, this way is the most complete," Five spoke. "I'm relieved, actually. This time, everything goes. There's no Commission, no leaping away. No life spent going mad with the desperation to see a familiar face. That is, before I met Rina."
"But even then, just the two of us in a wasteland was hard to deal with," Karina added.
"I've seen worlds end in ways that would knock your socks off, old man," Sir Reginald said to Five.
"Wow! Reginald Hargreeves, you never cease to surprise me," he feigned shock.
"That is some comfort. You know, they all run together after a while," Sir Reginald admitted. "But you never forget your first. Your home. Your original sin. You never stop wondering, "Did I do enough to save the people I loved?""
"Did you?" Five glanced at him.
"No, but I was hoping you children could help me out with that."
"And there it is," Five sighed in exasperation, taking a drink again. "Sorry, Reg. I got a message from the future."
"What future?"
"My future self told me very explicitly not to save this world," Five shot.
Sir Reginald laughed, looking at Karina. "Your husband is an arrogant son of a bitch, isn't he?"
"Depends on who he's talking to," she shrugged.
""Future you." "Present you"," Sir Reginald dismissed. "The past is as much a mystery as the future. You ruined your life once before by not listening to me. Are you prepared to do that again and have to face the consequences?" he questioned warningly.
Five glared at him coldly and sighed tightly. "Fine, we'll attend your stupid meeting."
"Excellent!" Sir Reginald began to stand up.
"Only if you tell us what happened with you in the Buffalo Suite last night," Karina spoke up, making Five squeeze her hand gratefully.
"Who were you talking to? Was it Klaus? Was it Ben?" Five fired off.
"No one," Sir Reginald lied. "I was alone. Though I doubt you were in any condition to remember and nor was your wife. We should go. Don't want to be late for the meeting."
Five clenched his jaw and stood up, helping Karina to her feet.
"I would move if I were you," Sir Reginald advised.
"What, are you threatening us?" Five arched his eyebrow.
However, a piece of concrete fell away and he yanked Karina back before she fell. She yelped, clinging to him.
Sir Reginald barely blinked. "Shall we?" he walked off.
Five and Karina exchanged an uncertain look before trailing after him into the hotel.
~ * ~
The moment they walked in, everyone began to cheer. Five rolled his eyes in exasperation and Karina laughed lightly.
"Woo! Five! Yeah!" Klaus whooped as they cheered and whistled.
"Here he is!" Luther clapped.
"Yeah!" Klaus exclaimed.
"That speech last night! Wow!" Diego teased.
"Whoa! Brought me to tears, you big softy," Lila added.
"I especially liked when you referred to us as a family bound by destiny and love," Viktor piped up.
Karina smirked. "Yes. That was great," she nudged Five jokingly.
"Okay. Enough," he rolled his eyes, taking her with him to go sit down. "It was the booze talking. In the light of day, you're all still deplorable. Well, except Rina, of course." She smiled as he wrapped his arm around her shoulders.
"And your day's about to get worse," Sir Reginald began. "The Norse had seven sleepers. The Blackfoot, seven stars. As a boy, I heard the legend of the seven bells. All these stories are the same. The village is under threat by flood, by fire, by a night that never ends. A shaman brings his disciples to a sacred cave. He tells them if they can ring the seven magic bells, the village will be saved, and all will be restored just as it was."
Everyone frowned in confusion from that.
"Reggie?" Lila held her hand up and he glanced at her. "Can we get a little less Brothers Grimm and more, "What the hell does this have to do with us?""
"There is a truth to these myths. None of you can deny what's going on around us," Sir Reginald answered. "All of existence will be gone by the end of the day, but whoever or whatever wove together space and time, they left a way to put things back together if the universe ever faced total annihilation. There is a portal in the universe. I built this hotel around it, and on the other side is the answer."
"And…we're supposed to, what? Just stroll in there, ring some bells, and fix this shit?" Luther rather sarcastically shot.
"Sarcasm aside, you are mostly right. Except for the guardian," Sir Reginald shot back.
"What kind of guardian?" Karina questioned slowly and cautiously.
"Kinda guardian that does this," Diego held up his injured hand. "He had a sword."
"It is a force to be reckoned with," Sir Reginald admitted.
"See? Yeah. This is where you lose me," Luther spoke.
"This is where he loses you? I checked out at the sacred cave," Lila remarked.
"Why would the builders of this "back door" need to have a guardian?" Viktor pointed out.
"Ah! To protect it from people who want to use it for nefarious means!" Sloane piped up knowingly.
"That is correct, Sloane," Sir Reginald confirmed.
"So it's gonna take all of us to defeat the thing protecting the bells," Allison summed up.
Five and Karina looked at her, but Karina's expression was more suspicious and thoughtful.
"You're actually buying his crap?" Five questioned.
"How is a guardian and bells any crazier than time-traveling briefcases and assassins with cartoon masks?" Allison retorted.
"Actually, she's got you there," Luther chimed in.
Five just rolled his eyes.
Ben stood up and went to Sir Reginald's side. "I'm in."
Five watched him thoughtfully, wondering if Ben was the other person in the suite.
"Me too," Diego stood up.
"Ow," Lila wailed as she fell onto the couch.
Karina bit her lip as she looked at Diego. Could he have possibly allied with Sir Reginald?
"But I think some of us should stay back," Diego continued. "Like Lila."
"Uh…or you can stay, and I can go," she retorted, standing up defiantly.
"No. This is much bigger than all of us. Nobody can stay back," Allison swiftly put in.
Karina looked at her. "And what makes you say that? Is there something you know about Oblivion that nobody else here does?" she leaned forward.
Viktor and Five also eyed Allison.
"Enough to know that everyone here needs to go to give us a fighting chance," Allison bit out coldly.
"You, my children, are all that stands between us and oblivion," Sir Reginald added. "Are we ready to go?"
"Well, I say we vote," Viktor spoke up.
"This isn't a democracy. Dad's calling the shots," Ben remarked.
Five clicked his tongue. "I'm with Viktor. We vote."
"The world is ending, and you want to count hands?" Sir Reginald was flabbergasted.
"You're asking us to risk our lives," Karina pointed out curtly.
"She's right. I think it's only fair you give us time to discuss it," Luther put in. Sir Reginald glanced around. "Privately," Luther emphasized.
Sir Reginald scoffed in exasperation, patting Ben on the shoulder before leaving.
"Why don't we meet back here in an hour?" Luther suggested.
"Agreed," Five gave a nod.
"Yeah sure," Diego sighed.
"Whatever," Lila added carelessly.
~ * ~
Five and Karina were going down the hall when they passed by Luther's room. The door was open and he was watching the window.
"Hey," Five greeted as they came in.
"Hey, how long do we have left?" Luther looked at them.
"A couple hours. Could be more, could be less," Karina sighed.
"Where's Sloane?" Five asked.
"Raiding the wine cellar for our end of the world party."
"So I guess you guys know which way you're voting."
"You're both more than welcome to join us."
"We're still on the fence on that one," Karina admitted.
"We saw something last night that we were not supposed to see," Five put in.
"Diego and Lila," Luther nodded knowingly, causing them to wrinkle their noses. "Yeah, they do it on the stairs sometimes."
"Oh," Karina nearly choked.
"No, we saw Dad," Five immediately rescued their thoughts. "He was in his room with someone. He was making some kind of deal." He began pacing. "Before you ask, we don't know what the deal was or who it was with. Everything is a blur."
"Well, I was trying to see who it was. But after Five collapsed into the elevator, I went to make sure he didn't bust his head open, and the doors closed before I could sneak back to the suite," Karina sighed.
"You were going to go back?" Five eyed her.
She shrugged. "Yeah. Why? Sorry I didn't see the other person."
"No, it's fine. I'm honestly glad you stayed with me. Who would have known what Dad would do if he found you. But at the same time, the mystery remains unfortunately."
"Well, I will say this. Wasn't me or Sloane. We were, uh, busy doing other things last night," Luther spoke up.
"Yeah, we get it, Luther. Thank you. Everyone was boning everyone last night," Five was exasperated.
"Did you two…? Wait, Ben hooked up with someone?" Luther was stunned.
"First of all!" Five cut him off loudly. "That is not for you to know! Second of all! Focus, please. That story about the bells? There's something Dad's not telling us. Think about it. When has the old man ever been straight with us?"
"I don't know," Luther shrugged. "He was ruthless in our performance reviews."
Five frowned. "He always gave me five stars."
"Really?"
"Look, Rina and I are old enough to trust our instincts, and it's telling us this is a trap. Food for thought," Five told Luther.
With that, the two left his room.
~ * ~
After decisions were made and people were ready to voice their opinions, everyone regrouped in the lobby.
"I think you can all guess which way I'll be voting," Allison announced boldly. "We've all been through a lot. We've all lost people. But their deaths have to mean something. Which is why I'll be voting to go with Dad."
Lila thunked down the stairs. "What she said," she whispered to Diego as she passed. "Let's go save the bloody universe!" she pumped her arm in the air.
"Woo-hoo!" Klaus whooped.
"All right, well, since she said yes, I vote stay," Diego spoke, making Lila scoff. "How's that for nice?" he was looking at her coolly.
"You're not being serious," she remarked, causing him to sarcastically smile.
"It's his vote, Lila," Allison pointed out. "Klaus?"
"I am with Father," Klaus acknowledged him.
"Hm," Sir Reginald smirked at Ben and he gave a nod.
"Okay, that's four to one," Allison said. "Viktor?"
Viktor sighed. "Look, I wanna believe, okay? I really do. I just can't shake the feeling we don't know what we're getting ourselves into."
Thunder clapped outside now.
"No, but we know what we've got if we don't," Allison pointed out, crossing her arms. "We have to go into this together. Viktor. A family."
"You can't just keep throwing the word "family" around. It isn't enough," Viktor returned. "I vote stay."
"Luther?" Allison turned to him.
"Um…Sloane and I talked, and, well, we're out," he responded. "Look, we wanna spend whatever time we have left together, and not fighting some guy with a sword and ringing bells and stuff. So…"
"Well, dead even. Four in, four out," Viktor spoke up.
"That leaves Karina and Number Five," Sir Reginald turned to them.
"Oh, this won't be worth it. They're a packaged deal," Ben scoffed.
Allison turned to Karina. "Karina…I know that I haven't been the kindest to you lately, but, I know you've lost your parents. If you, and Five, go, you'll be honoring their legacy. You'll be honoring their memories."
"What do you know about honoring legacies and memories? My parents would be rolling in their graves if they found out I chose to be sent to some slaughterhouse for an unworthy cause. I already honored their memories by living my life, not letting myself die as live bait. I'm staying," Karina answered firmly.
"I saw the future, and it told me to sit this one out," Five had a tight grip on Karina's hand. "I vote stay. It's time we accept our fate."
Allison clenched her jaw angrily. "You're all pathetic." With that, she stormed out.
"Why can't we go in there, just the four of us?" Ben seethed angrily to Sir Reginald.
"That would mean certain failure," Sir Reginald glanced at him. "There must be seven." He turned to face everyone. "Children, I can't say I'm happy with this. But I see now the blame falls on me. I failed you when you were young, and I have failed you now. And in doing so, I have doomed the entire universe. If anyone needs me, I'll be in the courtyard…awaiting the end." He left the room.
Ben shook his head. "Idiots," he snapped and left as well.
"Was that a real apology?" Viktor looked around.
"The man's never apologized for anything in his life," Luther pointed out.
"I actually feel bad for him," Diego admitted.
"Don't worry. It'll pass," Five eyed him.
Klaus and Lila left as well.
"So now what?" Sloane asked.
"We wait for the end," Karina softly replied.
"See you around. It's been interesting," Five took her hand and the two went upstairs.
~ * ~
Later on, Five was eating cereal and strolling down the hall with Karina. She was eating a leftover piece of cake.
Viktor caught up to them. "What are you two doing?"
"I'm eating cereal and she's got the cake," Five replied. "And we're retracing our steps."
"Why?" Viktor frowned.
"The old man is hiding something."
"Yeah, feels like there's a lot of that going around."
"How do you mean?" Karina frowned.
"Allison apologized to me," Viktor said, causing Karina to furrow her brows more as she set her plate down.
"Okay, and that's suspicious, how?" Five was confused after noticing her expression. "Rina?"
"Last night she was ready to go ten rounds with me at the wedding, and this morning it's all family and Dad and love," Viktor shrugged.
"That doesn't make sense. No offense, but, I have the impression that Allison wouldn't apologize to you unless…she wanted something from you," Karina connected all the dots, her mind racing back to the events in the suite.
"I don't know. Something must have happened last night, but I don't know what," Viktor continued.
Five caught on now and he dropped his bowl, coming to the same realization as Karina. The memory hit him: when he got up, he did see the other person.
He saw Allison shaking Sir Reginald's hand.
"Five! Karina!" Viktor caught their attention.
"You know it, too, don't you?" Karina turned to Five, her face pale.
"What?" Viktor was confused and concerned.
Five nodded, grabbing Karina's hands. "It's Allison!"
"What is?" Viktor asked.
"No!" a female voice wailed in anguish.
The three exchanged a look and raced off for the source. They ran to the White Buffalo suite to see what happened. Sloane was sobbing over Luther's bloody body and Allison was sitting in a corner, crying. Lila, Diego, Klaus, and Ben were standing around them.
"Oh my God, Luther," Viktor breathed out.
"What happened?" Five shakily asked as Karina looked at Sloane, feeling her heart break.
"He went to go get ice. I couldn't-he didn't come back," she sobbed out, her voice failing her. "I…I don't know." She wept brokenly.
"It must have been him," Lila spoke up. "The guardian."
"She's right," Diego agreed, kneeling down to study the wound on his brother. "Whatever did this had a long curved blade."
"How…How can you be sure?" Karina was skeptical as she glanced at Five, trying not to cry.
"I don't know much, but I know knives," Diego replied.
Five pulled her into his arms, but frowned when he felt her shaking. "Rina, what's wrong?"
She inhaled sharply when Sir Reginald raced in.
"Children, what's going on?" he gasped when he saw the body, causing Five and Karina to eye him closely. "Oh God! Luther."
"If we attacked first, he would still be alive," Ben lamented.
"This isn't right. Something isn't right," Karina lowly murmured to Five and her voice was shaking terribly.
"What are you talking about? What is going on, my angel?" he worriedly cupped her face, searching her glossy eyes.
"The timing. Think about it. It's way too coincidental," she whispered tearfully. "Something much worse is going on here, Five, and I-"
An explosion sounded outside and everyone gasped, bracing themselves when the building trembled.
Ben glanced outside, seeing the last Kugel wave fast approaching. "G-Guys? Hey, guys!"
"What are we gonna do with Luther?" Sloane sobbed out.
"Okay, we're out of time! The Kugelblitz is here!" Five exclaimed as Diego grabbed the shotgun off the mantel.
"Into the passage!" Sir Reginald hurried over to the door. "It's the only way!"
"You agreed to stay!" Viktor stopped Diego.
"They killed Luther, all right?" Diego was angry now.
"Come on, children! Hurry!" Sir Reginald urged.
"We can't leave him," Sloane choked out.
"We go now, or we're gonna die," Allison hurried to her side.
"No, God!" Sloane shook her head.
"Yes, yes! We have to go! Come on. Hurry!" Allison and Klaus pried her off of Luther's body.
"Children! Hurry, please!" Sir Reginald begged.
"Come on!" Allison grabbed a sobbing Sloane and disappeared into the passageway.
"Go, go, go!" Sir Reginald exclaimed.
"Come on! What are you waiting for?" Klaus raced to Five and Karina.
"I don't trust any of this!" Karina said.
"I don't either, but, we have to get out of here, now!" Five grabbed her hand and they raced to the passage. "This isn't over!" he threatened Sir Reginald.
The two ran into the tunnel as Karina tried to look back to make sure Klaus made it, but her eyesight got blurred suddenly and all she could do was go forward.

You tossed and turned in your bed for what felt like forever. Sleep was starting to feel more like an option, not a choice. You groaned in frustration, sitting up. You saw little silver rays of moonlight peer through your curtains. You assumed everyone else was asleep, so, you quietly slipped out of bed.
You threw on a lace kimono over your sleepwear, tiptoeing over to the shelf of books to read. That is, until you heard something lightly hit the window. You frowned some. That was weird. The sound occurred again and you wondered if maybe Alphonso was playing a prank on you.
"Alphonso. You're supposed to be asleep," you muttered in amusement.
You carefully peered through the curtain, seeing that your friend was not out there. You rolled your eyes.
"Alphonso, what are you doing?" you asked while opening the door.
To your surprise, the Sparrow Academy member was not there. You frowned even more, stepping out onto the balcony. The breeze was rather refreshing and the air was filled with bugs singing in the trees. Pools of moonlight streamed onto the balcony, making the flowers blooming on it more vibrant. The light also reflected off of the forming clouds in the sky, turning them silvery. You slowly went over, leaning on the concrete railing. Your cheek rested in your hand as you thought over the masquerade ball.
Your thoughts wandered to your meeting with Five. You felt your heart flutter just from the mere thought of him. You knew the Sparrows wouldn't exactly approve since he was from the Umbrella Academy…but there was a loophole. You weren't an official part of the Academy. Just a close friend. They couldn't exactly stop you from pursuing him if you wanted to. Or if he even wanted to.
You were starting to feel and sound like a lovestruck fool.
"I hope I get to see you again. Maybe alone. Away from the Sparrows," you looked up at the moon and smiled. "Good grief, I'm insane aren't I? I just met you."
"That's why I came back," a familiar boy's voice called out from below.
You gasped, looking down to see Five standing there with a charming smile. He was still dressed in his suit.
"Five!" you exclaimed, rushing down the stairs to meet him. "Oh my gosh, what are you doing here? Are you crazy? The Sparrows might see you!"
You were surprised when he didn't blink up to you. Instead he ran up to where you were.
"Yeah, I know. That's why I tried to draw you out. I was trying to…be…subtle…" he sort of trailed off at the end.
"Depends on how hard you throw rocks at my window. Well, not really mine. I'm just staying the night. How'd you know this is the room I'd be in?"
"You just seem like the type to have a balcony outside your room," he handed you a pretty soft pink rose.
You blushed some. "Thank you," you breathed in its delicate scent, smiling. "It's beautiful."
"It reminded me of you."
"Oh, that's very thoughtful of you," you blushed.
Five smiled, but it melted slightly. "Are you okay after what happened earlier? I'm really sorry about that. I was really hoping we wouldn't be seen."
"I'm fine. I just feel embarrassed on your behalf. Ben can just be so aggressive for no reason. He never was to me, which makes me wish he would treat everyone else like he does with me. I'm really sorry."
"Hey, no, don't be sorry," he took your hand. "I've dealt with far worse than a man in control over uncooked calamari. As long as he treats you right, that's all that really matters to me."
You couldn't help but laugh. "Five! Uncooked calamari? Really?" you tried to control your giggle.
"It's true!" he defended himself breezily.
"I just never thought someone would describe Ben's power like that."
"May that be the first of many things I do," he winked, causing you to flush pink.
"How kind of you," you returned.
He smiled, smoothly tucking your hand into the crook of his elbow. "Walk with me?"
"Uh-" you glanced around. You didn't want to leave the Academy and accidently scare your friends with your sudden disappearance. "But, the Sparrows?"
"I'll only take you around the block, my love. Besides, did I not hear you say earlier that you hoped to see me again away from the Sparrows?" he smirked again.
"You little eavesdropper!" you smacked his arm in embarrassment.
"Hey! I wanted the same thing, actually. That's why I'm here. I wanted to see you again. But, if you don't want to leave the Academy, I understand. I don't want to create any issues. We can just sit and talk if you'd like."
"I think just for tonight that'd be safest."
"Of course. I don't mind at all."
You smiled, leading him back up to the balcony. The two of you sat down on the bench.
"Is your family okay after earlier?" you inquired, noticing just how close you two were sitting.
"Oh, yeah. Just annoyed by the Sparrows. Sorry," he flinched, trying to be respectful since they were your friends, after all.
"Maybe someday we can all get along and coexist peacefully," you mused wistfully.
"That'd be nice," he agreed.
You gazed at him curiously. "Are you still going to get your briefcase back?"
"Well, yeah. I know it has to be around here somewhere."
"What will you do once you have it? If anything."
A part of you hoped he wouldn't use it to time travel out. You felt ridiculous for thinking that since you only just met him, but still. You felt like there was so much to the boy you have yet to uncover and learn about.
"I…don't know yet. To be honest? I want to retire. Be done with time traveling. For good. Live a normal life. Do things I never got to as a kid and adult. Live my life. Not just survive," Five responded truthfully.
You nodded slowly. "And do you think you could do it in this timeline? Even though things seem to be way different than what you're used to?" Then you flinched from how personal that sounded. "I am so sorry, that was so rude of me. Gosh, I really shouldn't be prying like this," you quickly got up in embarrassment, briskly walking off.
"Hey, wait," Five caught your hand before you got any further from him. "Don't leave me. It's okay. You're not prying. I'm happy to answer anything you ask," he slowly drew you back over to him. "After all, we're trying to get to know one another, right?"
"Um…well…yes…" you blushed slightly.
"Exactly. Don't apologize. It's okay."
"Okay," you returned softly, sitting down with him.
"So, what about you? What's the story behind my lovely Y/N?" Five asked, still holding your hand.
"Me? Well…it's something like this," you began to tell him of your story.
You grew up in a loving home and left after graduating high school to attend college. That's why you lived alone. Though you were taking time off just because you felt like the time wasn't right. You told him about how you befriended the Sparrows again. When you were done, he was smiling and gazing at you.
"Sounds to me like you've had a wonderful life so far," he commented.
"Honestly, I always thought my life was boring and bland. Same old, same old. Nothing's ever really changed. Never had a group of friends. I kept to myself a lot."
"You haven't been out on a date before?" Five was curious.
You felt your cheeks flush and your heart speed up slightly. "Not really. I've never really found anyone I felt attracted to."
Well, not until now.
"I see," he nodded slowly, his green eyes locking with yours. "What about that young man you danced with?"
You coughed to cover your laugh. "Nick? Oh my gosh. That was an excuse Ben used to get him away from him. He basically pushed me to dance with him, because Nick was being a bothersome!" you laughed now. "He's obviously just talkative and a huge extrovert." You were amused. "Why? Did you watch us dance?" you were curious.
"Maybe," Five muttered shyly. "I couldn't help it. You looked beautiful and I…felt so enamored."
You turned bright red. "Thank you. I honestly didn't even know you were there until I turned around and saw you standing there."
"I…would have asked you to dance if I wasn't trying to get that briefcase and you ran off for the refreshment table."
"Well, we're here now. What's stopping you?" you lightly teased.
Five looked at you and smiled, standing up. "May I have this dance, my lovely lady?"
"But of course, my good sir," you chuckled sweetly, gracefully getting to your feet with his help.
He drew you into a closed position and you felt your breath hitch, realizing just how close the two of you were. You could feel his warm breath on your forehead and his lips brush lightly against the top of your head.
You were falling hard and fast for him.
Five led you around the balcony in a sweeping, rather romantic waltz. Even though there was no music, you still felt like you were living a dreamlike fantasy. Dancing on a balcony, underneath the moonlight, with a handsome boy? Yeah. You definitely had a "pinch me" moment.
"Oh!" you looked up when you felt a few drops of rain, laughing as he spun you around gracefully.
The rain gently began, but the two of you continued waltzing around without a care in the world. You were both soaked by the end of the dance, smiling happily as you bowed/curtsied to one another.
"Come spend tomorrow with me. Please. I'll introduce you to my siblings, you can show me around town, whatever you want. So long as you're with me," Five softly requested, cupping your cheek.
"What about your briefcase?" you frowned in concern.
"It can wait for now."
You blushed from that. "Are you sure?"
"Yes, I am. Where would you like to meet?"
You told him your favorite coffee and tea shop about a block or so from here, which he instantly agreed to.
"I'll see you tomorrow. Sleep well, my love," Five gave your forehead a gentle kiss before he blinked out.
You sighed dreamily, going back inside to dry off and try to get some proper sleep.

Wedding At The End Of The World
~ * ~
Everyone was gathered at the hotel again as the world as they knew it slowly dissolved to nothingness outside.
"So, how is it that we're still here, but the whole of the universe is going down the cosmic shitter?" Allison questioned, leaning on a column.
Lila was sitting down, Luther and Sloane were together, and Viktor was on another chair. Ben and Diego were standing on opposite sides while Five and Karina were looking down at the lobby below.
"Maybe we're the last to get flushed," Viktor suggested.
"Wasn't talking to you."
"Hey, has anyone seen Klaus?" Luther spoke up.
"Or Dad?" Sloane added.
Diego looked down. "They'll be here."
"Really? Did they…hit traffic?" Ben shot. "Look, people, we're alive because we're special, right? We're the only ones who can save the universe."
"Uh, question," Allison held her hand up.
"Yes?" Ben pointed to her.
"Didn't we just try that and fail miserably?"
"Yeah, it's because his plan was stupid," Diego shot.
"Mm," Allison mused.
"I got a better one," he continued.
Ben rolled his eyes. "'Course you do."
"We go with the large hard-on particle accelerator. You guys do some science, and…" he clicked his tongue. "We launch the Kugelblitz into outer space. Didn't think I knew that, did ya? It's in Switzerland."
Ben stared at him in disbelief. "It's "hadron," not "hard-on," ya moron!" he shot.
"Oi! At least he's trying, you shitty little squid. What have you contributed?" Lila defended Diego fiercely.
"Actually, he did blow up half his family," Diego remarked.
"Oh, you wanna talk about family problems? You know what should have blown up is your face on that neck!" Ben snapped.
Five shook his head in disbelief. "Idiots. We are surrounded by idiots."
"Known that for a while now," Karina clicked her tongue.
"I wish I had a cake to hit you with it in your face!" Diego shot before he started firing off in Spanish and Ben started talking over him in Korean.
"Hey!" Five yelled and they ceased their arguing. "You guys done?" he headed back over and Karina followed him. "The universe is disappearing outside. So you can keep rearranging the deck chairs of the Titanic if it makes you feel better. But the fact remains that we are too late."
Diego and Ben scoffed.
"Five, come on," Luther looked at Karina for help.
"It's over, Luther. I'm sorry, but, we failed," she sighed.
"Come on. It can't be over over," Viktor sat up.
"Yeah, come on, Five. Karina. We gotta figure this out," Diego agreed.
"Okay. How about we take a step back?" Five clapped his hands together. "Look at the big picture here. Most of us have spent the last 28 days trying to stop the world from ending. What exactly have we accomplished?" he glanced around with slightly narrowed eyes.
Everyone sort of went silent, trying to think of anything good.
Luther hesitated a moment. "Well, we made some friends along the way."
"Incorrect!" Five shot him down. "You know what we've done? Nothing. We made things worse every single time."
"Amen to that," Allison commented.
Five sighed. "Look, when I went to the Commission, I had a conversation with my 100-year-old self. And my last words were, "Don't save the world.""
Of course, he was still trying to figure out the first part of, "to save your world", but so far he still wasn't understanding it.
"'Don't save the world'?" Viktor repeated.
""Don't save the world.""
"That's the stupidest thing I've ever heard," Diego spoke.
"Is it?" Luther began to ponder things now. "Well, whatever we're doing's not working. All we ever do is save the world for a day, pat ourselves on the back, and then everything goes to shit again."
"Yeah, maybe we're the problem," Viktor commented.
"Oh, yeah. Us," Allison scoffed.
"So, wait. Your big plan is no plan?" Lila questioned.
Five nodded. "Exactly. Conscientious objection. Why the hell not? We've tried everything else." He paused for a moment and continued. "Look, maybe this is just what the universe needs. I say, embrace the apocalypse. See what's on the other side."
"What if it's…nothing?" Sloane drew out, sounding forlorn.
"Then it's been nice knowing you all," Five sighed, resting his arm around Karina's waist. "Whatever's on your bucket list, I recommend you do that now."
He went to go sit down, letting her curl up next to him as everyone grew quiet again. However, Luther and Sloane looked at one another with forming grins.
"Well, on that…super happy note, we've, um…" Luther drew out as they sat up. "Oh, what the hell," he laughed and Sloane giggled, getting to their feet. "We've, uh, got a little announcement to make."
"We're engaged!" they both announced and Sloane held up her left hand to reveal the ring.
"Kill me, Jesus," Ben quietly groaned.
Five gave a dejected sigh. "Idiots," he shook his head and rolled his eyes.
"Why are you acting like that? We got married in an apocalypse," Karina elbowed him.
Five was about to open his mouth again, but, he quickly shut it when he knew she was right. Of course she was right.
"Touché, my love," he murmured.
"Now?" Allison asked rather judgmentally.
"Yeah. Look, we realize the timing is less than ideal. But, obviously, it's now or never. Am I right, Five? Karina?" Luther pointed to them.
"Don't drag us into this, please," Five remarked.
Karina however, offered them a smile. "But, you know. As long you two are happy, then, that's all that matters."
"What…Whatever time we have left, we wanna spend it with all of you," Sloane spoke up, making Lila at Allison and Karina. "So we're super pumped if you would join us in the banquet hall at 6:00 p.m. for a celebration of our love, and the official union of what's left of our two great families."
"Dress code is creative black-tie," Luther put in as she laughed merrily.
~ * ~
"Wow!" Lila laughed as Sloane handed out little decorative mason jars to everyone. "And you did all of this yourself?"
"Luther helped too. We stayed up all night," Sloane smiled rather proudly, handing two to Five and Karina.
"Oh, these are so cute," Karina looked at it.
"Amazing," Lila added.
Ben froze when Sir Reginald and Klaus suddenly appeared. "Dad?" he was stunned.
"Klaus," Allison stood up.
"Hey!" Klaus waved.
"Oh, thank God," Viktor was relieved to see him.
"Gather 'round, children. Quickly now!" Sir Reginald barked.
"The hell have you been?" Diego questioned Klaus.
"Oh, Reg and I. We got tangled up in a whole father-son end-of-the-world road trip kinda thing. You know?" Klaus replied casually.
"You two are hanging now?" Ben was jealous.
"Yeah, we laughed, we cried, we played in traffic, and long story short, I'm immortal now," Klaus grunted dramatically as he struck some poses.
"Whoa, wait. You're what now?" Luther was confused.
"Klaus, hon, have you gotten into the bath salts again?" Karina asked him nicely.
"I think the more pertinent question is, why are you all playing with jars?" Sir Reginald spoke up.
"They're invitations," Sloane replied.
Lila accidentally dropped hers and Diego threw his behind his shoulder, making it clatter loudly.
"Nobody's playing," Luther defensively said.
"Luther and I are getting married," Sloane told Sir Reginald, handing him an invitation as Klaus beamed excitedly.
"All of space and time is collapsing, and you lot are planning a wedding?" Sir Reginald shot back.
"Yeah, and, uh, the thing is, um, space is limited," Luther shot to his feet and quickly made his way over to Sloane. "So it's kind of a per-plate situation, so, you know." He plucked the jar from Sir Reginald.
"Is this how I raised you? To fiddle while Rome burns?" Sir Reginald questioned.
"Remember what we talked about, Reg," Klaus whispered to him. "Remember to breathe."
"Quiet, I'm on a roll," Sir Reginald hushed him.
"Dad, have you been taking your pills?" Sloane was concerned.
"As a matter of fact, I haven't. And I can confirm that I've never felt better in my life," he had his hands on his hips. "You thought you could dope me up and slow me down, take control of my affairs and squander my fortune. Well, Klaus here was good enough to wean me off that wretched poison." He fired away. "And now that the fog is lifting, I can see all your dastardly designs with a bracing clarity."
"You took him off his meds? What were you thinking?" Sloane looked at Klaus accusingly.
"He's the only one doing any thinking. All of you could learn a thing or two from this impressive young man," Sir Reginald continued.
Diego snickered and Ben looked down dejectedly.
"The world really is ending! Oh my God," Diego commented.
"As for the rest of you, your training is to resume post-haste," Sir Reginald announced, causing everyone to look at him. "We're running out of time. We have a mission to complete."
"I'm ready. Let's do this," Ben instantly and eagerly agreed.
"Let me guess," Five cut in. "Project Oblivion?"
"How do you know about that?" Sir Reginald turned to look at him, mildly surprised.
"We heard all about it from Pogo."
"Now, there's a name I haven't heard in some time."
"And he confirmed what I've always suspected about you."
"Which is?" Sir Reginald rather challenged.
"That you're a sadistic lunatic who's planning on gambling all of our lives in another pointless mission," Five answered coldly.
"And you'd take the word of a disgruntled chimp over that of your own father?"
Five blinked in front of him and snapped, "Every damn day." He sarcastically smiled up at him.
"Nobody wants you here, Dad. You should leave," Luther put in solemnly.
"Hey, you don't speak for all of us, big guy," Ben remarked.
"Feel free to join him," Luther shot him a look.
"I see. So this is what it's come to," Sir Reginald glanced around at everyone eyeing him. "Insurrection."
Klaus quickly came forward and shushed him. "That's not the kind of erection we're driving for here, all right? Everybody just needs to be cool. Clearly, you guys are on a different chakra frequency right now. Hey, Pops, let's go have a nice cup of tea in the suite." He took a hold of Sir Reginald.
"Let go of my arm," Sir Reginald protested as Klaus pulled him off.
"Luther, Sloane. Oh my God. I'm beyond thrilled. You guys are gorgeous. Amazing!" Klaus congratulated them. "Send me your registry!"
On that note, everyone sort of broke apart to go get ready for the evening.
~ * ~
Five was waiting outside the hotel door for Karina so they could go down for the wedding together. Soon the door swung open and she stepped out, wearing a navy blue dress. Her hair was pinned up prettily and her earrings sparkled in the light.
Five stared at her, speechless for a moment.
"Is everything okay?" Karina asked, worried that something was wrong.
He quickly shook his head. "Yeah. Yeah. You look…you look beautiful."
"Thanks," she blushed nervously.
"Though, something's missing," he stepped over to her.
"Like what?" she frowned.
Five gently smiled, reaching up to unclasp her necklace. Five slid her wedding ring off the chain and took her left hand, sliding the ring on.
Karina smiled. "I forgot what it looked like on," she admitted, noticing Five was wearing his.
"Mine's a bit large but, I thought its been too long not wearing it and I just…felt like it was a good time to put it back on," he explained almost shyly.
"You know, I thought the same thing," she smiled more. "I always felt a bit incomplete not wearing mine, but, I know it would always look weird for two teenagers to be wearing wedding rings."
"Well, its not weird any more," Five kissed her sweetly, then offered his arm for her.
She took it and the two went off to the main hall. The others were with them as the elevator took them to the gorgeously decorated banquet hall.
"Not sure this place is gonna be big enough," Klaus commented while everyone went inside.
"This better be an open bar," Five added.
"Hey, come on. It's for Luther. Let's perk up," Karina advised.
Lila paused. "Wow," she looked at the room in amazement. She chuckled some as the elevator bell dinged. The door opened and Luther came out with Viktor.
"I don't know. Normally, my tush looks good," Luther said to Viktor.
"Ah, I see you've gone for the oversized button-down. Original," Allison shot at Viktor.
"She's really going for it still, huh?" Karina muttered dryly and Five just squeezed her hand to calm her down.
"You do realize there's no paparazzi here, right?" Viktor shot back.
"What? Dang it!" Allison feigned shock.
Luther shushed them. "Listen to me, you two. This is my day, all right? So if you two can just get along for a couple of hours, you can consider that my wedding gift."
"Well, he started it, so-" Allison began.
"You literally just started it," Viktor cut her off. "Literally?"
"Bah, bah, bah!" Luther stopped them. "My day! Two hours. Do you think you can manage that?"
"Yeah, fine," Viktor shrugged.
"Thank you," Luther sighed out.
The elevator bell dinged again and everyone looked over. Sloane, beautifully dressed in her wedding dress, strolled out.
Lila gasped. "Wow."
"Oh, she looks gorgeous," Karina smiled.
Luther was gazing at Sloane as she smiled happily.
"Let's get this over with before I die of cringe," Ben commented.
Everyone went outside where the ceremony actually began.
"Dearly beloved, we're gathered here today for a good time, not a long time, so let's have a good time, huh? 'Cause the sun can't shine every day. Can I get an amen?" Klaus started the officiation.
"Amen! Amen!" Luther and Sloane exclaimed as everyone else cheered or whistled.
"Amen," Five agreed softly, letting his hand intertwine with Karina's.
"Luther, do you be taking this banging hottie to be your lady?" Klaus looked at the groom.
"I do," Luther grinned, taking one of her hands.
Klaus sighed and turned to the bride. "Sloane, do you promise to love and cherish this big hairy bastard for the next 24 to 48 hours?"
"Give or take a day," Five put in casually, making both Klaus and Karina shush him.
Sloane nodded. "I'm gonna try."
"Well, then…" Klaus sniffled some. "I'm sorry. I pronounce you married as shit! Viva la apocalypse!" he announced.
Everyone cheered and applauded happily as the newlyweds sealed their union with a sweet, loving kiss.
~ * ~
Back inside, the reception began. Luther and Sloane were sharing their first dance as their guests filed in quietly.
"This is officially worse than the apocalypse," Five commented.
"You're just salty 'cause your brother got an actual wedding," Karina softly teased.
He playfully rolled his eyes, slipping an arm around her waist. "No, my love. I'm just way too sober for this. Where's the champagne?" he looked around.
"Eh, come to think of it I'd look terrible in white," Karina mused aloud, taking a sip of her champagne.
Five saw the drink table. "Ah, there we are." He gently guided her to the table. "First of all, shut up, because you'd look like a fucking angel. Second of all do you want to get shit faced drunk with me?"
"Honestly, why not? The world's ending soon anyways so, might as well go out with a bang," Karina shrugged casually.
Five noticed Diego, Lila, and Klaus join the couple on the dance floor. Agreeing to her words, he smiled and put the glasses down. He held his hand out for her. "Dance with me, my love?"
"I'd love nothing more," she smiled, taking it and letting him lead her out.
He brought her into his arms and began swaying with the music, slow dancing around. Once the song was over, they sat down at a table with plates of food and several glasses. Big band music echoed through the air.
"You know? I never imagined Chet to be much of the DJ type," Karina noticed, taking a sip of champagne.
"Apparently anything's possible in this world," Five downed a shot and then took a crunchy bite of melon, nearly getting juice everywhere.
"Cinco! Karina-roo! Mi hermano!" Klaus greeted them.
"Oh God," Five groaned. "What do you want?"
"Listen to me, Dad is upstairs right now with a plan to save everything. So what say you, the wifey, and I pop up to the suite for a little chitchat?" Klaus wiggled his eyebrows.
"That sounds like a trap," Karina raised an eyebrow.
"Are you like Frick and Frack with the old man now?" Five questioned, wrinkling his nose some.
"This dad's different!" Klaus protested. "He's a turtle. Hard on the outside, but all cute and wrinkly and occasionally delicious on the inside."
"Klaus?" Five huffed.
"Yeah?"
"Old dogs like me and him never change. He has never had our best interests at heart and rest assured, even if he did, he wouldn't dare to include Rina," Five remarked. "So, our only plan for tonight is to get fսckеd up beyond all recognition."
"Sure," Klaus flatly clinked his glass with the couple. "Have at it."
"We shall!" Five rather merrily promised.
"Hmm," Klaus murmured when he eyed Diego and left their table.
"You know, I can't help but wonder and think Klaus is being manipulated," Karina mused as she drank some more liquor.
"My darling? I love you oh so much but, can we not start dissecting the relationship between my idiotic brother and poor excuse of a father right now? Trying to have a good time," Five looked at her in exasperation.
"I hardly think it matters since we probably won't remember jack shit tomorrow," she remarked.
"Okay, fine. Humor me then," he grabbed two flutes.
"Well, think about it. If Sir Reginald is off his medication, he's becoming more aware again and isn't frail. That means he can set his plan back into motion. And what better way to get it kick started than fake bonding with the most…well, partially…naïve one of the family," Karina theorized between shots.
"Grand theory there, love of mine. Unfortunately, you're probably correct," he sighed, watching Klaus talk with Luther and Sloane.
"We're not going to do anything, are we?"
"Not tonight anyways," Five downed a flute.
"Oh," she faltered when the elevator door slid open to reveal Sir Reginald himself. Everyone else began whispering around, wondering why he was here, who invited him, and hoping he didn't sit with them.
"What is he doing here?" Five almost scowled, shifting closer to her.
"He is the father of the bride," Karina downed the rest of her flute, watching Diego and Lila talk to him.
"Please don't expect me to formally introduce you," Five eyed her.
"We already met in Dallas. One time was enough."
"More like none."
"Mm," Karina mused.
A clinking sound got everyone's attention. Sir Reginald was standing now as he grabbed a mic and went into the center of the room. He tapped on the mic and the feedback whined, making everyone cringe.
Sir Reginald began hesitatingly. "I know it is customary…" he looked at the newlyweds. "Sloane, ever since you were a little girl, I've always known you were exceptionally bright. And though I can't say I know Luther all that well, from the few moments we have shared, it seems you found yourself an adequate partner."
"He just called Luther adequate," Five grinned and snickered.
"Impressive," Karina agreed.
"I acknowledge that, as a father, I was not without my faults. I hope these shortcomings will be seen as only a rough patch on an otherwise verdant lawn," Sir Reginald continued his speech. "I'm proud to call you my children. Even those whom I raised in a revenant version of myself."
Everyone was looking at him wordlessly yet a bit sadly.
"I hope that tonight we can create a few special memories in whatever precious little time we have left. And now, in closing…" he took a deep breath. Though a few people noticed Allison storm out before Sir Reginald started to recite. "The sun rises over a lily's field. A mother veiled, her lips concealed. The mourners come in droves of black to bury what their hearts unpack."
The elevator bell dinged and Karina saw Viktor hang his head sadly. She exchanged a concerned, sorrowful look with Luther.
"With shallow breath and time eclipsed, I pray you miss death's gentle kiss," Sir Reginald finished. He held up his flute of champagne.
Five was staring at him, his eyes glistening ever so slightly. Luther was watching Sir Reginald closely.
"That makes no sense," Ben commented.
Klaus jumped to his feet and started clapping wildly. "Beautiful! Bravo, Dad! Bravo!"
The others slowly joined and the applause continued.
"I didn't think the old man had it in him," Five lamented as Karina gave his hand a gentle squeeze.
"All right, all right!" Chet shouted. "Time to turn those frowns upside down! This one is for all the party people in the place!"
He started playing a upbeat song and everyone went out onto the dance floor again. Everyone danced around, having a blast and letting loose.
A little bit later, a very drunk Five was at the mic and serenading the room with Come In Mr. Lonely. He was also slow dancing Karina around, not being able to take his eyes off of her and not being able to stop smiling. He leaned his forehead on hers, nuzzling the tip of her nose and kissing it.
"Who planned things this way? No offense. But you know. I'm still looking," he softly sang into her ear now.
Karina smiled, her arms looped around his neck as he grazed her back with his thumb. Not caring who was looking, he twirled her around and dipped her back. She laughed as he pulled her back up and kissed her, savoring the moment for as long as he could.
~ * ~
Later on Diego, Lila, Viktor, Five, and Karina were relaxing outside. Despite the world being swallowed all around them, it was rather peaceful.
"It's probably a good thing," Lila was laying on Diego's lap. "I would've been a shit mum."
"I doubt that," Diego returned, kissing her cheek.
"Hey, guys," Luther greeted with Sloane by his side. He smiled as they sat down near Viktor.
"Hey, uh…I saw. And I…I appreciate you trying," Luther told Viktor.
"Oh, no, no, no, no!" Sloane exclaimed when Klaus appeared with a drunk Ben.
"Hey, what?" Luther was exasperated.
"No!" Diego groaned.
"Klaus, why are you bringing Ben here?" Five complained.
"Come on!" Ben said defensively. "Hear me out before-"
"Hear him out," Klaus supported him. "The brother that you all knew as Ben is gone. And not. I don't mean our Ben, the nice Ben. I mean this Ben. The asshоlе, he's gone now."
"Gone," Ben nodded.
"Klaus, what are you talking about?" Karina frowned.
"And the man that stands in front of you is new new Ben, and he's one of us, and he's a member of the team. And he's part of the family!" Klaus cheered.
"…Part of the family!" Ben echoed.
"And as a welcome gift, I suggest we throw him off the roof," Five piped up and Karina scoffed.
"Yeah. I'll help," Diego nodded at him.
"Come on," Klaus sighed.
"You know what? You know what?" Luther asked. "He can stay. He can stay."
"Why?" Diego whined.
"'Cause it's my wedding day, man. Come on. He can stay."
"Yes!" Ben and Klaus cheered.
"I knew it, I knew it," Klaus grinned as they stumbled to join the group.
"Hey, big guy. Awfully nice of you," Ben thanked Luther, staggering to the ground.
"Yeah, you're…you're welcome."
"Ooh! Whoa! Holy smokes," Klaus looked up at the glowing orange sky.
Everyone gazed up at the sky as Five downed some more of the bottle he had in his hand. He let his fingers lightly run through Karina's hair.
"Hey, you know something?" Luther spoke after some silence. "Tonight is all I ever really wanted."
"To get hitched?" Diego remarked.
"Just…everybody coming together when it really matters. One big real family," Luther replied.
Suddenly Five started coughing, retching some. He stumbled to his feet.
"Whoa! Whoa!" a few people said.
"Five?" Karina stumbled over to him in concern.
"Oh, I think I'm gonna hurl," Five moaned. Then his stomach rumbled and everyone laughed.
"Actually, uh, I think I'm hungry," he looked at Karina. "Come with me?"
"Yes, please," she nodded, giggling when he clumsily took her hand.
"See ya, guys. We're gonna hit the buffet," Five staggered off.
They went inside and he ended up making a huge bowl of cereal.
"How about we get you to bed? I think we need to get some rest," Karina suggested as Five stumbled down the hall with her.
She caught him before he ran into a wall. Though he just collapsed and vomited into a plant.
"With everything we've discussed, it'd be folly to wait," a familiar male voice spoke from a room behind them.
Five painfully sat up with Karina's help and she grasped him tighter as they glanced over. Inside the suite, Sir Reginald looked to be talking with someone.
"There is no time," he continued. "I can't do this without you. Do we have a deal?"
Five staggered to his feet as she steadied him, the two listening in on the conversation. Karina tried to lean to the left to see the other person, but, Five stumbled away and fell into the elevator, crashing to the ground with a thud.
"Five!" Karina half staggered, half raced to his side.
The elevator door slid shut on them before she could go back to see who the other person was.
