So, do you come here often ~ Jason Todd / Red Hood
Jason Todd x Reader
Summary; An awkward encounter turned unpleasant.
Word Count; 0.5k
Warnings; Swearing
Tumblr media
You let out a sigh as you rearrange the books on the display table yet again. It’s a slow day but somehow no matter how busy the shop is the bookshelves and tables always ended up in disarray.
As you pick up Pride and Prejudice and take it out of the Mansfield Park pile a man approaches you.
“So, do you come here often?”
The question caught you completely off guard, not expecting to be spoken to while rearranging displays.
You look down upon your blue striped apron proudly displaying the words Three Lives Bookshop, a pin with your name printed on in bold letters sitting over your heart.
“Well,” you start slowly. “I work here, so, yes?”
“That was a stupid question, I’m sorry.” the stranger fumbles over his words, obviously flustered. “I’m Jason.”
“Nice to meet you, Jacob?” you respond awkwardly. “I really need to get back to work.”
You scramble away before the man can say more, darting behind the counter and assuring your coworker you can take over while guiding her towards the main floor.
Out of your vision Jason holds his head in his hands, muttering about how stupid he is quietly. He stops suddenly and with a determined look on his face he grabs the recently misplaced copy of Pride and Prejudice and carries it towards the counter.
You pick up the book placed in front of you and scan it.
“Jane Austen, good pick, lots of people say shes too mainstream but I’d say shes popular for a reason.” you comment on the book absentmindedly.
“I think shes one of the greatest authors, I have a first edition at home.” your customer adds to the previously one-sided conversation, his large hands gesturing towards the book resting on the counter.
“A first edition Pride and Prejudice?” you exclaim, looking up to see the person claiming to have a thousand dollar book in his possession.
You falter when you see deep green eyes belonging to the man that had tried start a conversation with you just minutes prior.
“7 dollars.” you say once you realise he isn’t going to respond to your previous statement.
He hands you the money and walks out of the shop onto the street without waiting for his receipt, a small smile gracing his face.
You open the cash register to place the money inside and are met with not three but four pieces of paper, one square in size and bright yellow.
Once you dispense the money into the register your eyes fall upon the sticky note in your hand.
Ten numbers are scrawled onto the piece of paper in elegant handwriting.
“That dickhead.” you whisper under your breath as you throw the note with the mans phone number into the small trash can under the counter. The vivid yellow standing out in contrast to the white of receipts and blank pieces of paper.

Paper Cuts ~ Jake ‘Hangman’ Seresin
Jake Seresin x Reader
Summary; An attention hungry Jake is an annoying Jake.
Word Count; 0.4k
Warnings; Mentions of a cut
Tumblr media
You hear your name being called from the sitting room of your quaint home, each syllable being dragged out in a whine. You take your time heading towards the direction of the voice, knowing it’s just your boyfriend being dramatic.
As you reach the source of the noise your eyes fall upon Jake’s pointer finger being cradled in his right hand and a large pout on his face.
“I got a paper cut.” Jake states, holding his injured finger towards you.
“You poor baby.” you reply, walking towards him and inspecting his finger. “The damage is already done, we might have to cut it off.” you threaten jokingly.
“I think a kiss will do.” he suggests smugly while reaching up to hold your face in his hands, slowly pulling it to his.
“I have a better idea.” you announce, pulling away and laughing silently at Jake’s annoyed expression.
You go to the kitchen, peer into a drawer and are met with two boxes of plasters, you opt to go for the box with Toy Story characters printed across the front. You had bought them a few months ago when you and Jake were babysitting his niece, who had gotten a scrape from falling over outside.
You carry them over to the sitting room and pull one out of the box. Before he can protest you cover the small cut and give his finger a kiss.
“Do we not have any normal band aids?” he whines, gesturing towards his finger where Buzz Lightyear was proudly displayed.
“Blame your niece for having such great taste.” you giggle.
“I’m going to get made fun of.” Jake complains.
“I can take it off?” you suggest.
“No.” he blurts out. “Y’know in case it starts bleeding again.”
“Whatever you say.” you reply intending to resume what you were doing before you were interrupted.
“Lie down with me?” Jake asks, grabbing your wrist to prevent you from leaving.
“You have to finish that.” you wave towards the messy stack of papers lying atop the small coffee table.
“I don’t have the best relationship with paper right now.” he huffs, making you laugh.
“Fine.” you give in.
You lie on top of Jake on the plush couch, your head resting on his chest. He grabs a throw blanket to put on top of both of you. Your eyes grow heavy and you decide that a quick nap won’t do any harm.
As you doze off you feel a tender kiss being pressed against the top of your head and a lazy smile spreads across your face.
Warm summer evenings like these are greatly underappreciated.

New Beginnings ~ Damian Wayne / Robin
Damian Wayne x Fem!Reader
Summary; A microwave explodes in a hotel room leading to some late night confessions.
Word Count; 0.6k
Warnings; None
Tumblr media
After a long day of interviews, meetings, and conferences you and Damian walk through the wide doors at the entrance of the hotel one of your assistants booked your rooms at. Your dress and flashy heels are starting to get too uncomfortable for your liking.
You and Damian have never gotten on particularly well, growing up your families have always been close, mainly because of business collaborations and other boring things, so you would assume after spending so much time together yous would at least tolerate each other? But no, Damian would always shut down any attempt of a friendly conversation you’d try start.
What doesn’t make your situation better is the fact that you and Damian always ended up being the face of the newest project both your families companies worked on together. This most recent one being about thermodynamic energy improving the cost of living.
You sit on a couch at the hotel reception and wait for Damian to check into the rooms, a routine that’s been developed over countless years.
“Problem,” Damian announces, walking over to you.
You groan, longing to crawl under the blankets of a comfy bed and stay there for a few hundred years.
“There’s only one room, something about an accident and the other isn’t available.” he says as he rubs his eyes.
“We’ll figure it out.” you reply, just wanting to get out of this stupid dress. You accept the key card being held out to you by Damian’s extended arm and walk towards the elevator suitcase in hand.
Room 433, surely enough there was one king sized bed against the furthest wall.
“I am not sleeping in the same bed as you.” Damian’s voice cuts through the silence.
“Well I’m not sleeping on the couch.” you retort.
“The floors free.” Damian suggests, rolling his eyes.
“I’m taking the bed, sleep in the elevator or something I don’t care.” you shrug.
Damian lets out a small huff as he sits down on the small couch in the corner, accepting defeat.
Once you’re ready for bed you throw the covers over yourself and switch off the small lamp positioned above your head. You hear Damian shift under the small throw blanket he was using because he didn’t want to bother the hotel staff this late.
Without thinking you call out his name.
“Yes.” he answers back softly, evidently tired.
“Will you scratch my back?” you ask.
“What- I- sure.” he sighs, making his way to the right side of the bed and getting in under the heavy duvet, a nice contrast from his flimsy blanket.
He turns to face you and as you stare into his tired eyes you wonder what the two of you would be like if you had tried a little harder to befriend him in your younger years.
Before you can entertain your thoughts further you turn around and lift up your cotton pyjama shirt, exposing you back to Damian. His warm hands reach out to trace light patterns across your back with his fingertips, you’re sure that if you pay close attention you’ll see a story unfurl beneath his fingers, Damian’s hands seemingly moving with purpose.
Before you can drift off Damian speaks up.
“I’m sorry I’ve been such an asshole.”
You hum to confirm you’d heard his words, encouraging him to carry on.
“I guess I was just scared.” he continues, still drawing swirls and lines on your exposed skin.
“Scared?” you question, your tired eyes opening softly.
“I’m not the best person to be acquainted with, I’d have let you down.” he clarifies, his voice lowering, sounding almost ashamed.
“Can I not decide if I can take that risk myself?” you ask, turning around to face him once again, lifting your hand to play with his hair as his eyes flutter shut.
“Can we start over?” he whispers. “Please.”
“I’d want nothing more.”

Bad Dreams ~ Dick Grayson / Nightwing
Dick Grayson x Reader
Summary; Damian has a nightmare and can’t sleep so he goes to reader and Dick for help/comfort.
Word Count; 0.3k
Warnings; Mentions of nightmares
Tumblr media
You hear soft, ghost-like footsteps outside the door of Dick’s childhood bedroom, they come to a stop then after a short pause two knocks are placed on the dense, wooden surface.
“What is that?” Dick questions, his voice deep and coated with sleep.
You turn on the lamp beside the bed and glance at the small clock accompanying it, 4:52am, “Come in.” you announce sitting up. Dick’s head dives back under the duvet, deciding to let you deal with the disturbance.
The door swings open to reveal Dick’s younger brother, Damian.
Damian had taken quite a liking to you, which was very strange according to everyone else occupying the house.
“Is everything okay?” you ask softly, pitying the young boy for being awake at this hour.
“Dami?” Dick blurts out accusingly, his head shooting out from underneath the covers, obviously not as sympathetic as you but instead annoyed at the impostor interrupting his sleep.
“I had a dream,” Damian begins quietly, “and when I woke up my walls were moving,” he pauses, “inwards, towards me.”
“Hop in.” you offer the child that won’t admit hes had a nightmare. You lift the duvet off of you and your boyfriend’s tangled bodies.
Without need for convincing Damian jumps into the warm bed, right in between you and Dick.
“You’re safe with us little man.” Dick assures as you turn off the lamp, light disappearing from the large room in an instant.
“When I had nightmares,” you start, “I used to do exactly what you’re doing, and my mum would hold my hand and do this,” you start drawing light circles on Damian’s palm with your index finger. “right until I fell asleep and I wouldn’t wake until lunch the next day.”
That night you took on the same role your mother possessed for all those years and just like you Damian didn’t stir once until getting up at midday.
“Thank you.”

Flirting ~ Reuben ‘Payback’ Fitch
Reuban Fitch x Reader
Summary; Mickey’s friend is kinda cute.
Word Count; 0.9k
Warnings; None
Tumblr media
Your heels make a soft clicking noise as you walk into the dimly lit bar right beside the coast. A sign displaying the words Hard Deck hangs above the doorway. Anyone that could see you right now would describe you as lost, and they’d be completely correct. It isn’t your clothes that would make people assume so, you’re dressed similarly to the other women filling the bar, a black dress that’s not too formal and not too informal and a nice pair of shoes, it’s the very confused look on your face that would make people stop to help you as your eyes scan across the room rapidly, searching for someone.
“Y/N!” you hear as you’re engulfed in a hug.
“Mickey!” you laugh joyously, recognising the voice behind the arms wrapped around you.
You have known Mickey Garcia nearly your entire life, your parents became friends when yous were so young you couldn’t even talk and you’ve been inseparable ever since. Growing up with Mickey by your side seemed to make everything much easier, hes always been like your brother, protecting you when you didn’t quite need it and always being suspicious of any date you’ve been on.
“I’ve missed you!” you both exclaim at the same time. As you laugh you notice a figure behind Mickey. Hes tall and has dark skin, you can see his defined muscles through his aviation uniform.
“Are you going to introduce me to your friend Garcia?” you question playfully.
“Oh, yes,” Mickey starts, composing himself, as if he felt slightly embarrassed that his acquaintance had witnessed the display of affection. “this is Payback, I’m his WSO.”
“Reuben Fitch.” Payback confirms, his hand reaching out to yours.
“Quite formal.” you joke while shaking his hand.
“Maybe it was an excuse to hold your hand.” he states, a coy smile present on his handsome face and his large hand still holding yours.
“Ew. Gross man.” Mickey grimaces, standing in between the two of you as an attempt to break your hand holding. “Shes like my sister, don’t you dare try anything.”
“Intimidating.” you roll your eyes and pat Mickey on the shoulder. “I’m getting a drink.”
“I’ll be by the pool table.” he informs you. “And he’ll be too.” he adds, grabbing Reuben’s shoulder and directing him towards the back of the bar.
As they both walk off Reuben turns around and blows you a kiss, you reach your hand up quickly and grab at the air, bringing your closed fist back to your chest with a big smile on your face. You turn your back to head to the bar and hear Mickey scolding Reuben, obviously he had seen your interaction.
When you make it to the bar a dark blonde haired man isn’t far and takes notice of you. His aviators slide down as he inspects you further. Just as you’re about to pay for your drink a hand appears from behind you with a pristine 10 dollar bill in its palm.
“I’m paying.” he states to the bartender.
You don’t stop him after all it’s a free drink and he is kinda cute.
“So do I get the name of the handsome stranger that paid for my drink?” you ask, looking up to meet his gaze.
“Lt. Jake Seresin.” he announces with authority and importance in  his voice, you can tell hes cocky already.
“Ooh navy, what’s it like out at sea?” you question, playing dumb to see if you can get even more drinks out of the poor man in front of you.
“I’m a naval aviator, so I’m up in the sky most of the time.” he replies, you know exactly what do say to keep him going.
“Wow,” you feign wonder. “that must me so scary, I could never imagine doing something so dangerous!” Lie. All of Mickey’s stories have almost desensitised you completely from flying.
“Well, it’s hard work but it has to be done.” he brags, his chest puffed out.
Maybe you were boosting his already big ego a bit too much. Before he can say anymore hes interrupted.
“Hangman.” you hear Reuben say from behind you, confusion evident in his voice.
“Payback.” he returns. “What do you need, you’re distracting me from the gorgeous woman in front of me.”
“I didn’t know your standards were that low.” Reuben directs his comment at you, putting an emphasis on ‘that’.
“You know each other?” Hangman questions, his head darting back and forth between the two of you.
“Barely.” you reply, staring into Reuben’s eyes. “I must get going, thanks for the drink!” you let out while dragging Reuben’s arm towards the pool table.
“I could’ve gotten at least two more drinks out of him.” you whine into Reuben’s ear, having to get close so he can hear you over the loud chatter all around yous.
“Not from Hangman, trust me.” he responds, his face so close to yours you can smell his minty breath. “Besides, I am also able to buy drinks.”
You hum in content. “He wasn’t my type anyway.”
“And what exactly is your type?”
“You.” you whisper, your lips ghosting over his before you pull back abruptly, walking towards Mickey while letting out a laugh, leaving Reuben in a euphoric, wanting state of mind.

Whats got you so happy ~ Jake ‘Hangman’ Seresin
Tumblr media
You hear giggling and hushed voices as you turn the corner. Your face contorts into a confused expression, what would your colleagues be finding so funny at this hour? You are notoriously opposed to early morning training but this has made you more intrigued than annoyed.
“Shhhh, one of them’ll hear you.” you hear Fanboy scold.
Now you’re really intrigued.
“What do we have here.” you announce your presence. Everyone jumps and shields the bench where both you and Jake had left your helmets the previous night, not being bothered to carry them back home.
“Nothing!” Payback exclaims. “Bob just done something really funny.” he adds, elbowing Bob deep in his ribs.
“Yeah, me!” Bob squeaks while his hand shoots out to cover his rib cage with a pained expression on his face.
“What did you do that’s so funny Bob?” you question, knowing that Bob simply ‘being funny’ isn’t the answer to your question.
“Umm-” he begins.
“He was showing us his amazing Hangman expression.” Phoenix interjects, smiling and waiting for the events following her words to unfold.
“Now this is something I’d love to see.” you say while grabbing a loose chair to sit on.
“Well-, so-” Bob stutters before admitting everything. “Fanboy was going to try swap you and Hangman’s helmets and hope yous don’t notice because we thought it would be funny and-”
“Hey it wasn’t even my idea, if anything Phoenix is the one behind it!” Fanboy interjects.
“Don’t go blaming this on me when you know it was Payback!” Phoenix exclaims.
“That would actually be kinda funny.” you interrupt their bickering just as Payback was about to speak.
“Well,” Payback starts slowly, “you could be in on it?”
“Done.” you beam.
The face of his watch reads 6:58 as Jake Hangman Seresin walks through the doors and onto base, he makes a sharp left into the dressing room that none of the pilots actually use as a dressing room, to collect his helmet before going straight to the landing strip to officially start his day.
As hes walking into the room an object is placed on his head by none other than his girlfriend.
“Whats got you so happy?” he questions upon seeing the smile etched onto your face.
“Nothing.” you sing, trying to wipe the smirk off your face and failing once seeing Jake put on the helmet that you had lay on his head.
As the two of you walk outside to join the rest of the group you see multiple heads drop trying to hide the grins forming once seeing Hangman’s helmet, that in bright bold letters read C/S.
“Okay, just something light today guys” Maverick announces when he sees that everyone’s accounted for. “-and girls.” he adds quickly.
“Looking good.” Rooster directs his compliment in Jake’s direction.
“Forgot to say, I really like your helmet design Hangman.” Maverick praises with a sincere face, putting on a better front than all of the others. Who are going to extreme lengths to hide their laughs, it seems like everyone’s developed a strange cough in the past 5 minutes.
“Thank you sir.” Jake replies, puffing out his chest, his ego growing even bigger.
You shift the unfamiliar helmet to rest comfortably under you arm, the letters H_NGM_N facing towards your side.
You and Jake are airborne, sitting comfortably in your f18s, soft chatter being exchanged over the radio by other people
You see Jake glance in your direction and do a double take. Then reach his hand up onto the helmet adorning his head. And finally two middle fingers being pointed at you.
“I’m going to get you back.” you hear Jake’s playful voice crackle over the radio.
“Go ahead and try Seresin.”

Lieutenant Seresin ~ Jake ‘Hangman’ Seresin
You walk onto the naval base that you’ll be working at for the next few weeks, the sound of your heeled boots make distinct clicking sounds against the hard floors, the noise echoing throughout the room, alerting its guests of your presence.
Your hairs held loosely out of your face with a clip and you have plain, simple jewellery on. If your mother saw you right now she’d make a sharp remark about you never putting in this effort when it comes to dates. You can practically hear her voice in your head, ‘You need to run after a man Y/N, why would they take the time to run after you?’.
When you make out the shapes of chairs and a stand ahead you grip your clipboard just a bit tighter. You immediately worry that your loose fitted blue jeans, white top, and brown aviation jacket aren’t of high enough prestige. Will anybody take you seriously here?
By the time you’ve reached the small wooden stand every pair of eyes in the room are on you. Your stare lingers a little too long on a pair of green eyes that belong to a pilot by the name of Lt. Jake ‘Hangman’ Seresin, the only pilot in this generation to have a confirmed kill in combat and he graduated joint top of his class at Top Gun, he looks different from his file, something about seeing his signature smirk in person and they way his eyes follow your every move sparks something deep inside you.
“You may begin Ms. L/N.”
You take a short breathe, readying yourself to give the speech you’ve already given multiple times before, but something about the unfamiliar faces and talk of secret, dangerous missions has put your head in a bit of a mess.
“I’m Y/N L/N, I’ll be overseeing every single thing you do for the next 6 weeks and reporting it back to my higher ups. Don’t try to get anything passed me because I’ll find out and write it down.”
“You’re not wearing the right socks,” you see multiple people glance down at their feet. “I’ll write it down.”
“Your hair is an inch too long,” you keep eye contact with the only female pilot in the room, Phoenix, to let her know that the rule obviously doesn’t apply to her, she nods back. “I’ll write it down.”
“You breathe wrong in one of those jets,” you say while motioning to your left, behind those walls are where millions of dollars worth of jets are stored. “I’ll write it down.”
“Anything you do that is against protocol is getting written down, and too much of that might get you permanently grounded.”
The room is silent, everyone holding your gaze. Once you’re happy that your intimidation tactic has gotten through to all the aviators you begin to rearrange the files clipped to your clipboard.
Bradley ‘Rooster’ Bradshaw. Reuben ‘Payback’ Fitch. Robert ‘Bob’ Floyd. Mickey ‘Fanboy’ Garcia. Javy ‘Coyote’ Machado. Jake ‘Hangman’ Seresin. Natasha ‘Phoenix’ Trace. All of these people will be under your constant supervision for the next month and a half.
You clear your throat, “All questions and queries will be accepted by me and I’ll try my best to give you an answer, my office is down the corridor, to your right, if you need me you can find me in there.” you finish, walking away from the small stage.
You’re in your office going over paperwork after Mavericks request to change even more safety regulations. Suddenly you hear a single knock on your door.
“Come in.” you say, a bit startled that someones visiting you at such a late hour. From the knock and the fact that the person waited for verbal confirmation to enter the room you can narrow it down to a pilot. As if there’s a shortage of them within a 20 mile radius.
You don’t have to wait any longer for the mystery person to be revealed as Jake Seresin, call sign ‘Hangman’. You’re slightly flustered upon seeing his face because ever since you’ve been in Mirimar the naval aviator has been watching you closely, and hes been obvious enough for every single pilot inhabiting the base to notice.
Nothing goes past you, certainly not the sharp elbows, snickers, and whispers of Jake’s supposed crush on you, whispers he hasn’t been denying.
“Lieutenant Seresin.” you greet formally.
“Ma’am.”
“Is there a reason for your visit?” you question, trying to seem uninterested, the last thing you want to do is fuel the rumours of your secret relationship.
“Yes ma’am, I was wondering if you’re going to be accompanying everyone to the Hard Deck tonight.” Hangman announces, gaze straight and shoulders back.
You are utterly confused. Is he inviting you out? Is he asking you on a date? Do you want him to ask you on a date?
You quirk your brow. “Are you asking me to grab drinks with you and your colleagues after work?” you inquire, not sure of his intentions
“Yes ma’am.” he responds, his eyes still not fully meeting yours.
“Then why in gods name are you asking so formally?” you ask, still greatly puzzled. You see the ghost of a smirk playing on his lips, a smirk you know all too well.
“It helps with the rejection, besides, you started it.” he says through a smile. “Ma’am.” he adds playfully.
You laugh. “Yes Jake I’ll join you all.”
“First name basis already?” he questions in a flirtatious manner.
“Get back to whatever it is you’re supposed to be doing.” you retort, a blush blooming on your face.
When hes already one foot outside your office door he turns back around to face you, “Oh, by the way, none of the others can make it.” he smiles. “Looks like its just you and me gorgeous.”

Lets get you cleaned up ~ Bradley ‘Rooster’ Bradshaw
Tumblr media
You hear three firm knocks against your front door, the familiar sound echos through the house. Looking up at the clocks bright green characters you take note of the time, 2:43 am. You lift the duvet off your body and your feet drift instinctively across the hardwood floors, following the same course of action they’ve grown so accustomed to. Despite taking longer than you usually would to open the door for a guest, the man waiting patiently behind the piece of wood guarding your home knows you’ll arrive to his aid eventually, you’ve never failed him before.
As you reach the door you hesitate, anticipating the mixed feelings of panic, dread, and worry. Your hand goes to unlock the door but you falter, bringing it back down by your side. The feeling of uneasiness in your stomach multiplies rapidly with every second that passes. You gather your hair away from your face and breathe in a deep breath, you hold it and think of what would happen if you were to let your feet guide you back up the stairs and into the safety of your bed.
You shakily let out the breath you’ve been holding for a few moments too long, you’re shoulders deflate but you don’t feel any more relaxed knowing whats waiting for you on your porch.
You open the door, your eyes squeezed tightly shut, drawing out the short amount of time you have to be blissfully ignorant. As your eyes flutter open you look up you see what you expected to, Bradley Bradshaw leaning against the concrete wall beside you with a solemn expression adorning his tired face. He looks guilty, guilty for waking you in the early hours of the morning, guilty for putting you through the stress of having to mend his bones and clean his wounds.
You quickly assess his injuries and make a mental note of what you’ll need to be able to fix his injuries.
“Lets get you cleaned up.” you say breaking the painful silence.
He winces at your monotone voice, knowing you’re fed up with this dynamic. You don’t  wait to see if hes following you, knowing that he knows this routine. You hear the door shut quietly behind your retreating back and soft footsteps following you deeper into the house.
By the time hes reached the bathroom you already have your makeshift first aid kit resting on the granite counter top, you had no need for it until Bradley started showing up at your house to be mended after getting into random bar fights.
He hoists himself onto the counter and stares at you while you get the disinfectant and cotton swabs ready.
“I’m sorry, I really am.” he apologises, waiting for you to respond with your usual ‘it’s alright’.
“Yep.” you sigh and start to clean the gash placed on his temple, squinting due to the bright bathroom lights.
“Are you not going to hold my hand? Give me words of encouragement?” Bradley laughs through the pain coming from his forehead, trying to lighten the mood.
You stare at him blankly, annoyance radiating off of you. Your hands drop to your sides as if there are weights tied to your wrists. You toss the bloody cotton swab into the stainless steel dish to your left.
As you clean the rest of the scratches and scrapes adorning Bradley’s sun kissed skin he keeps his mouth shut, deciding he didn’t want to annoy you more after taking note of your furrowed brows, narrowed eyes, and tightly clenched jaw.
“Done.” you announce, not bothering to question how he’d gotten into the state he’s currently in, knowing it was probably something stupid.
You turn to your right and walk towards your bedroom, you throw an uninterested glance at the analogue clock perched on your bedside locker, 3:21 am. As you climb under the covers Bradley closes the bedroom door and strips himself from his clothes until hes left in his underwear. He throws the duvet over himself, trying to disturb you as little as possible.
After 10 minutes of twisting and turning he flips over to his left to face you, “Can you just lie and say you forgive me so I can fall asleep,” he begs, his voice laced with exasperation. “please.” he adds.
“No Bradley, I can’t because every week my sleep is interrupted because you’ve gotten into another idiotic fight,” you exclaim, almost yelling, not knowing where you got this sudden burst of energy from. “and I wouldn’t mind it so much if you addressed these stupid feelings between us!”
“Y/N” he says, his voice strained.
“No, we’re actually going to talk about this tonight because I’m sick of it!” you interrupt. “You can’t climb into my bed half naked and pretend to be my boyfriend for the night only for you to disappear when the sun comes up, my hearts being torn to shreds, thrown on the ground, and stomped on repeatedly!” you exclaim, now sitting up in the small bed.
“So what, you want me to be your boyfriend?” he asks disparagingly, sitting upright now as well.
“Yes!” you yell. “Is that too much to ask for?”
“What if I go up in the air and i don’t come back down alive? I’d leave you with nothing but a broken heart.”
“Do you not think I’ve not thought about that? I don’t care Bradley, I just want to know if you would have a serious relationship with me. My hearts broken enough as it is!” you cry, tears starting to form in your eyes. “Or am I someone you want to hide away? You crawl into bed with me at night, then go about your life during the day.”
“Y/N I’d do anything to be with you but you deserve so much more than I could ever give you. I’m not going to be selfish and hold you back when you’re capable of having a life beyond imagination without me.”
“I dont want that Bradley, I want to be with you, every single second of every single day.” you proclaim, using the last ounce of power in you to project your voice around the room. Tears stream down your face, falling from your eyes to your chin then onto the soft duvet covering both your bodies.
Tears are Bradley’s weakness, he instantly holds your face gently in his hands, using his thumbs to wipe the tears sprouting from your eyes. “I’m sorry. I’m sorry. I’m sorry.” he mutters, trying to stop the flow of tears from gliding down your face.
“I love you. As scary as it is, it’s true. I love you Bradley Bradshaw.” you whisper, practically in his lap, enjoying the warmth of his body being so close to yours.
“I love you Y/N. God I love you. I have since the moment my eyes found yours. Since we had our first conversation, I’ve known, deep down inside of me that you’re the woman I want to spend the entirety of my life with.” he vows.
His face approaches yours slowly, your breath hitches and you lean in. Your lips meet in the middle and you share a long passionate kiss. It seems like you’ve waited an eternity for this to happen, but god was it worth the wait.

Nice to meet you stranger ~ Bradley ‘Rooster’ Bradshaw
Tumblr media
You find yourself arriving at the Hard Deck the night before you’re supposed to go back to Top Gun for a mission of some sort.
You immediately spot a group of people you don’t recognise from the time you spent at Top Gun, but before you could dwell on it any longer, Halo; someone you do remember from your Top Gun days, grabs you by the arm and pulls you over to two more familiar faces, Yale and Harvard.
“The boys were wondering when you’d show up,” Halo exclaims, looking forward as she drags you through the sea of bodies crowding the pubs interior. “they can’t call back ‘the best of the best’ without the pilot that graduated on top.”
“C/S! We haven’t seen you in forever!” Yale yells over the numerous conversations happening in the four walls of the building, ‘we’ referring to Yale and his WSO Harvard, the pair have always been attached at the hip.
“I’ve missed you’s so much.” you shout, trying to be heard over the busy crowd of people.
“Have you even gotten a drink yet?” Harvard laughs, obviously he’s had multiple already.
You shake your head in disbelief that he’s so drunk by 9:34 and also to indicate you haven’t had anything to drink.
“I’ll go grab you something. Vodka martini?” Halo questions, still remembering your drink order from all those years ago.
“Correct.” you call after her as shes already heading towards the bar.
Your gaze shifts slightly left from Halo’s retreating back and your eyes land on a man walking in through the entrance, messy brown hair that was still short enough to be up to naval standards, aviators placed loosely on the bridge of his nose, light unnoticeable scars running down his jaw towards his neck, and a hawaiian shirt hanging off of his broad shoulders. You take note of him in your head, his tall figure walks with a confident, almost cocky air to him.
“Here comes trouble.” Harvard mumbles.
“You know him?” you question, pressing for more information on the handsome stranger.
“Bradley Bradshaw, call sign Rooster,” Yale states, not showing his feelings about the fellow pilot. “he graduated the year before us.”
“And he’s just your type.” Harvard quips, elbowing you lightly.
“Well poor you C/S, because he’s going to be your colleague for the next few weeks,” Halo interrupts, returning with your drink. “best not make your dull love life too scandalous.”
“I wasn’t going to go near him.” you lie, nodding in gratitude as Halo hands you your glass.
“What do you think they called us back for?” Yale questions almost nervously, launching your small group into conversation, the topic drifting from one thing to another. You distance yourself from it, not being able to hear certain parts of the conversation due to the loud chatter around you, you join in every once and a while with your own opinion or story.
“I’m going outside,” you claim, your hands placed tightly around the fifth or sixth refill of the night, as you hear a piano playing and lots of people yelling rather than singing along to a song. “I just need some fresh air.”
“I have to get this dumbass home safe anyway.” Yale says while pointing at Harvard, who was leaning against a support beam with his head barely upright. Halo had already moved away and started talking to a man with ginger hair and tall shoulders.
You help Harvard to the exit, standing on his left with Yale on his right, as your walking across the floor you make eye contact with the man sitting across from the piano. The room suddenly feels warmer and you feel the need to fix your hair. You avert eye contact as Harvard drawls out unintelligible words, snapping your attention away from the gorgeous man with his hands flying across the old piano.
You send Yale and Harvard on their way and soak in the cold, fresh air. As you’re walking down to the water you let out a sigh and your shoulders deflate, you feel like a weight has been lifted and you’re ten times lighter. As soon as you take a seat on the golden sand you notice a figure behind you, you don’t turn your head, feeling no threat from the person watching you as the gentle wind blows your hair away from your face, only when they sit down do you make an attempt to acknowledge them.
“Nice to meet you stranger.” you say, breaking the silence.
“Rooster. Bradley Bradshaw. Whatever. A woman as pretty as yourself can call me anything you want.” Rooster replies.
You hum in response. “So, Bradley, what makes you want to interrupt such a pretty woman in such a serene, peaceful moment?” you joke lightly, not offended by the man.
“Was that your boyfriend in there? The one you were dragging out of the bar?” he questions in an attempt to avoid your previous question. You caught his attention whilst inside the Hard Deck.
“Whats it to you?” you play along, answering his question with another.
“Well I can’t imagine a woman like you would be single.” he answers playfully.
“Woman like me?” you probe, turning your head to the right, his aviators were hanging from his shirt, displaying his honey brown eyes. “Are you trying to flirt with me Brashaw?”
“Is it working?”he suggests, mentally confirming that you are single, a smirk adorning his face, it fits his face like that’s the expression hes destined to display, everything about this man was alluring.
“Maybe.” you quip, turning away from him to watch the setting sun receding behind the calming waves, pinks and oranges decorating the cloudless skies. You can still see the man beside you staring at the side of your face with an inquisitive look, like hes trying to figure you out as if you’re a puzzle, assuming he can crack a code to find an answer beneath your surface.
You wish you could stay in this moment forever. It’s truly the most comfort you’ve felt in months.

Mornin’ Lieutenant ~ Jake ‘Hangman’ Seresin
Tumblr media
The sun streams through your open curtains, sunlight hitting you directly on the face. Strange, you’d never leave them open. Your eyebrows crease in confusion as the welcoming, breezy smell of salt and waves waft around your bedroom, your brain still foggy from sleep trying to remember what happened the night before to make you forget to close your curtains.
Deciding it’s far to early to be finding an answer to your dilemma, despite never trying to find out the time, you nuzzle your head further into the blankets and let out a small groan. Just as you do so, a toned, muscular arm throws itself on top of you causing you to freeze, afraid to alert the unknown man in your bed know that you’re awake.
“Mornin’ Lieutenant.” the deep husky voice of the man behind you vibrates around the room. Your plan to turn into a statue hadn’t worked.
You take this as your opportunity to turn around and finally see the owner of the voice. Bracing yourself to jump up from the bed, run to the door, and arm yourself with the nearest object that could be used as a weapon, you shift to your other side. When you do so, you dont know whether to be you’re relieved or mortified.
In your bed is Jake ‘Hangman’ Seresin.
The Jake ‘Hangman’ Seresin that you’ve had a semi hostile, semi flirty relationship with since the start of your naval aviation career. You realise you’ve been silent for too long.
“Jake.” you state, still in a daze.
God that was stupid.
“The one and only.” he retorts.
Memories of the night before flooded back to you in a movie esque way. Memories of having a few too many at the Hard Deck, stumbling back to your house with Hangman on your left hand side, him laughing at you because of how incoherent you were, him putting you to bed, and you begging him to stay.
You let out a breath you didn’t even know you were holding. Nothing sexual had happened.
“You were an absolute shit show last night, Penny ordered me to get you home safe.” Hangman quips, once he realised you weren’t going to speak. “You could barely make it up the stairs.”
You suddenly became aware of how close the two of you were, not wearing much clothing due to the sweltering Miramar heat. Your colleagues shirtless chest pressing against you. It feels safe, like a blanket of reassurance.
“Yeah.” you let out breathlessly, still trying to grasp the situation at hand.
“I can leave if you want me to,” he says as a flash of sadness and confusion passed his face, “we can pretend this never happened, I won’t tell anyone, scouts honour.” he promises, mock saluting with his hand by his face.
You blink, realising you don’t want him to leave and continue to stare at his face. His green eyes staring right back at you.
“Alright.” he mutters dejectedly, while pulling the duvet off his body and swiftly moving to get off the bed.
You grab his arm, “No.” you call, the word filling the room. “Stay for a bit.”
That was all he needed to slide back under the covers.
