The Salt Keep is in this bundle on itch.io, live now! There are nearly 400 games (as well as TTRPGs and dev assets) in this thing for only $8, and all proceeds are going to the Palestinian Children's Relief Fund (PCRF).
Check it out if you want to help out, or if you even just want to pick up an absolutely absurd number of games for a low price. It runs until April 29th, possibly longer if they get the deadline extended.

I wrote about Tails of Iron (the rodent Soulslike) and the way fantasy game royalty tropes impact its narrative. Check it out if you like Souls games, genre examination, or dodge-rolling rats.
Or if you hate frogs, I guess.

Devlog #2 for South of the March is up!
The main thing this past week has been character portraits. We're filling them out for the first half of the game or so, aiming to have a fully-developed chunk that goes about halfway through the story so we can see how it feels all put together with art.

holds your face so fucking gently please leave reviews for indie games. please. every single review legit counts, especially if the game is small enough, and you don't even gotta say much if that's the problem!!
like, anything from a long ramble to a simple 'it was good' matters, because steam (and probably also the Other Ones) uses an algorithm. so the more reviews, the more exposure, the more money the dev team gets. like, please. please. leave a review. throw your small indie dev team a bone

Upcoming Game Announcement: South of the March
It's finally time to announce my next game in development! South of the March is a fantasy/horror RPG featuring a hybrid of JRPG-style turn-based combat and semi-open world visual novel exploration. It's set in the same medieval setting as The Salt Keep.

The current plan for the full version of South of the March is a free release sometime in spring of 2024. It's planned for release on Itch.io and Steam, and will run on PC and Mac. It's also intended to function as a prototype and companion game for a larger upcoming project, so keep an eye out and follow for updates!

important writing tip
ALWAYS address the issue of 9/11 in your story. do it as early as you can organically work it in. if you don't, your readers will be very confused. they will be wondering if 9/11 happened in this universe, how the characters feel about it, who thinks it was an inside job, etc. instead of focusing on your story

I wrote about Armored Core VI and its approach (or lack thereof) to grinding. Check it out for mech talk, game design critique and comparison to other Fromsoft titles, and various pleas to let me grind, because look, it's just fun, okay?
