Day 52 Lena Challenge

First go at the 'Magician King' Motem, though this would be his younger appearance as he usually looks like an elderly man.

Originally, the concept was that a journal from long ago documented the personal details and accounts of the Magician King and the Crimson Knight Kion, and the main party discovers these pages as they travel the world. I don't think it'll work out the way I have it planned as it is now, but one way or another, their story was intended to be uncovered piece by piece as the main characters gain more knowledge and experience travelling the world.

Shortly after, the Magi colluded together to call forth the Withering Calamity, an event marked down in Alexandria's history as the day of the Shadow. Firsthand accounts and documentation are hazy and irregular at best, but those who survived it described it as a place where darkness crept from the ground and sprouted from all living things, the sockets and joints of animals seemed to leak living liquid that trembled and grew into each other, weaving and twisting, growing larger and darker, sinking its host deeper into an abyss that seemed to absorb all sense of life. A vast silence, an unearthly stillness, an emptiness beyond understanding, like whatever once existed would be forgotten and just a touch of it would consume all sense of yourself. The land, the plants, the stones, even the air felt like it was being pulled into this darkness, gnawing at itself and everything around it, drawing in the world and devouring its existence. A great sense of hopelessness and despair came upon those who dared witness it and live.

According to the scholars of Alexandria, the fiercest crusader employed by King Alexander himself was known as Kion. She was a magnificent warrior and beloved by her people for both her mighty strength imbued with the Divinity of Flame and her unyielding compassion for the weak and innocent. She was also part of the founding members of the First Flame chapter, the original soldiers trained and dedicated to eradicating the Magi threat. She performed her duties diligently until the rise of the Magician King, a beastly elderly man who somehow managed to gain control of his devilish powers and wield them like a monster unlike any Magi before him. Worse yet, Magi flocked to him seeking refuge and brotherhood, and instead of terminating each other, under the leadership of the Magician King, they were not just surviving, but growing stronger. Kion hunted him down and finally was able to confront him, but a poison stronger than any blade and that no antidote can cure crippled the Crimson Knight before this Magi as she had become deeply infatuated with him, turning against the chapter, defeating them and fleeing alongside the Magician King as a traitor.

Yet the great King Alexander used the last of his strength to personally stop the Withering Calamity before it could consume everything and bottled the Magi's strength within it, trapping the all consuming Calamity to infinitely devour the Magi's endless source of power. This seal was called the Hallowed Graces, physically locking away the Calamity, but leaving behind a massive crater in its place. Though the King was mighty, the cost was too great a strain on him, and he could no longer stay in the living realm, finally passing on and ending the era of the First King. The day of the Shadow both marks the survival of Alexandria and the passing of their founder.

While Magi no longer exist at full strength, their kin and bloodline continue to persevere as a diluted form known as Magicians, though thanks to the efforts left behind by the First Flame, have never grown in such power and strength as they did before the Calamity. While official details are muddled around the actual event, the fear of the Magi power became enshrined through all the living realm and rejection of Magician kind continued to propagate throughout time and history.

What is the truth behind the Crimson Knight, the Magician King and the Withering Calamity? Their personal journal may be the only real clue to what really happened all those years ago.

Day 51 Lena Challenge

Some side character examples of my in-universe excuse to have chimera furries. These particular mortals have been imbued with physical manifestations of their Divinities, mostly from the domains of Theras, the God of Balance and Corran, the God of Survival. Unlike most Divinities, these physical traits aren't invoked like activating a power, they're inherently attached to the individual and grow with them permanently. Known as Terrans amongst their kin, but unkindly referred to as Beastians by others in both Alexandria and the Belrhin Empire, these people generally are considered a lesser race despite their natural prowess against the elements and tendency for high strength and endurance. Unlike many Divinities, Terrans have the unique ability to genetically pass on their powers, though it is not always guaranteed. A Terran and a non-Terran may have a child together, but it does not mean necessarily that the child will be born with a Terran Divinity.

These two, Aida and Scheer, are sisters, with Scheer being the eldest. They are former slaves from a Royalblood family in the Belrhin Empire that sought refuge in the nation known as The Union Collective or commonly referred to as The Peacelands by those who flee their oppressors. The Union Collective is commanded and protected by the Baroness, Lady Mara, called the Terran Allmother for her protectiveness over her kind who have been discriminated and enslaved. After fleeing the Belrhin Empire, the two felt eternally grateful for Mara's protection and swore an oath to fight for her and their country. Aida works as her right hand, focusing on both her skills as an elite warrior for the Baroness and as her bookkeeper while Scheer who has more combat-oriented skills, works in the background, aiding the underground networks that work to free other Terran slaves.

They take on the form of pretty much whatever suits their living requirements, so in terms of Terran designs, they're kind of open-season chimeras with no specific rules other than if you got a physical mutation, it's likely a Terran Divinity. Some end up more like humanoids, others more like their animal counterparts.

Toribot was conscripted to draw somewhere else, but I'd like to think we all sort of live on through what we give and inspire others to do, and I can only be supremely grateful for what he has left behind. I'm sure it has inspired more than we'll ever truly know.

Some more Divinity Crown stuff using my tablet again (huzzah) this time featuring what is supposed to be the 'greatest named warrior' in the story. I only really knew for her design that I wanted her to be a redhead so this is my first real go at getting a more solid imagery down. This would be something like a casual royal guard outfit, something you'd wear while training, her actual armour is gonna be more valkyrie style.

Day 47 Lena Challenge

I had some big endeavour to try writing and sketching at the same time, but with this past week of weather being high of 16C to low of -3C all in one day, repeatedly, I'll admit I was basically rendered "insane in the membrane" quote Cypress Hill.

So all I got for ya is some introductory knowledge of two of the main characters in my story Divinity: Crown Origin (look in tags #dco for more if interested).

On the left is Marie, an unexplained aberration known as a Cursed Divinity who has attached itself to the current Princess of Alexandria. She's a smart-mouthed deviant who ultimately protects the Princess as their souls are intertwined and if the Princess is harmed as her host, she also shares the damage. She is naturally fast and agile, a very formidable opponent able to conjure up her spectral dual blades at any moment, but lacks genuine fighting experience as the two have been caged for their protection, unable to seek life beyond Castle Alexandria's keep. After sketching her again from memory, I compared it to my initial designs and decided to change some things, but not too much. I want her to look less like an adult who's got their shit together and more like a young 20s something who thinks they've got their shit together. Trying to keep that in mind going forward.

On the right is Kaala, a young girl who has been condemned from birth for being a Magician. Magicians are considered devils in disguise, born into the flesh of mortals with only fiendish amber eyes that betray their true selves. They are a living curse placed upon the human inhabitants by the jealousy of the Lord of Ends, Emmett. He awards them sublime access to the powers of the Gods and the Divine, engulfing them and their souls like a pyre so that they will always serve their master and bring destruction to the living realm. Known as the living bomb, these beasts will always eventually betray mortals for it is their fate and thus, must be expelled from humanity to ensure the safety of mankind. Kaala is one of these cursed children who resides in the secret Magician Village, where beyond all odds these people live in complete secrecy and peace. She one day wishes to leave the protective boundaries of the village and see the world beyond which is initially how the main party recruits her, and she has a pet called Pyori who is a ferret-moth. I've always struggled with Kaala's design simply because all I've really pictured for her was a child's idea as being as free as bird, so all of her sketches just mostly end up being variations of feathers sprouting all over the place. I've finally settled on a more 'raptor-esque' look and we'll see how it goes from there.

My first pokemon game I bought for myself with my own money was pokemon Crystal on ebay alongside my first handheld, a gameboy advance. My cyndaquil's name was Nikki. When they released Heartgold and Soulsilver, I bought one for myself and one for my best friend. I remember wearing the pokewalker to semi-formal and my friend giving me shit for it. Lots of good memories.
