i think the wildest cognitive dissonance i've had re: the realization that the average (?) tumblr user Truly Does Not Look At The News was when like. people started bitching and moaning that "everyone" was focusing on crimew being a trans catgirl anarchist without actually looking at the importance of her work in leaking the no-fly list.

when earlier that day i had clicked on a top CNN headline reading something like "hacktivist leaks US no-fly list, exposes racial discrimination, islamophobia, bans on two-year-old children"

(i don't remember the exact wording. i know it was About The Important Shit.)

and then i'd logged onto tumblr. and only THEN found out that the hacktivist was a trans catgirl anarchist. CNN's early reporting did not give A Fuck about that At All, because THERE WAS A LOT TO SAY ABOUT THE NO-FLY LIST.

so imagine my surprise scrolling thru tumblr's meme coverage like

So the very beginning of the Last Life transformation giraffe thing. I decided to embrace the idea of making them more creature, and went kinda crazy though it's not as evident here. The story kind of forming in dribs and drabs, but things are coming along. Hopefully you will enjoy. -the Weird Nonny Scar has learned several things since coming back from Secret Life. One such thing is giraffe feet and legs are not meant for stone walkways. Also, Season 9, unlike earlier seasons, didn't really have much of a road system outside of the spawn village. He learned that, unsurprisingly, elytra don't really work when you've got four legs instead of two. Finally, he found no one, himself included, built their base for someone who stood slightly taller than the average warden at the shoulder, and that was the lower of the two shoulders he had.

The problem with the Life Games is that you don't remember that there is something outside of the Life Games. You don't realize you aren't supposed to be anything but the creature you wake up as when you get to that season. This is positive for most players because it avoids the freak out that would come with suddenly having an entirely new body. The downside only comes when you win and end up stuck as the thing you died the winner as. Suddenly all that missing dysphoria hits you full force, and there's nothing you can do about it besides adapt.
