I saw a post that made me curious about this so here's a quick poll. Please reblog to reach more people. I'm sure there's more opinions out there but 12 options is the maximum limit for polls. Also, I'm sure many of y'all are probably thinking "well, it depends on what my partner wants as well," but this is about you. Imagine your ideal and vote based on that ideal. Imagine your partner agrees entirely with what you want and just vote based on that.

Wait, aren't you a maoist yourself?
I didn't read like a lot of theory and nothing of Mao, but I remember that you were of high opinion about him.
Or like, maoism and Mao's ideas are different things?
Maoism is very different from the political theory espoused by Mao - it is contradictory, in fact, to Mao's own political theories, and was formulated completely separately from Mao (and the CPC as a whole) by foreign ultra-leftists. (To clarify: 'left' errors are those which erroneously declare positive, revolutionary elements to be enemies; in contrast with rightist errors, which erroneously declare enemies to be positive and revolutionary.)
Mao followed the tradition of Marxism-Leninism, and the tradition followed by the CPC incorporating the theories of Mao is called Marxism-Leninism-Mao Zedong Thought. Maoism is a separate trend, that selectively takes and decontextualises individual slogans of Mao's. Unlike Marxism-Leninism, Maoism has had not been successful in carrying out revolutions and seizing state power. Maoism leans on an association to a correct and successful revolutionary, Mao, while actually being unrelated to his political theory. Anecdotally, Maoists also tend to try to associate other Marxist-Leninists with Maoism, by claiming that e.g. the Black Panther Party 'would have been Maoists', positioning Maoism as having the same relationship to Marxism-Leninism, as Marxism-Leninism had to Marxism itself (which is to say, Marxism-Leninism is the theory of Marxism, in the age in which imperialism has become the principal contradiction in society; what exactly the new principal contradiction in society, that neccesitates Maoism, is, is unclear).
Maoism, like Trotskyism in the time of the Soviet Union, largely exists as an ultraleftist opposition movement to a large socialist state, and Maoists tend to forward imperialist lines on China and the CPC. Compared to anarchists, liberals, etc, Maoists are generally not as bad, and will hold generally correct lines on some matters. Though, at the end of the day, they are ultraleftists, and serve to denigrate anti-imperialist movements, and historically have commited serious errors that have put them in the camp of the enemy to the people. They also tend to form strange cults in imperial-core countries.

"Does Shen Qiao even like Yan Wushi?"
I feel like it may be relatively easy for people to pick out "what does Yan Wushi like about Shen Qiao / what does YWS get out of yanshen." but I think a criticism/line of thought I see around is people struggling with "well what does Shen Qiao get out of all of this?" and like, "does SQ even like YWS, what with how YWS annoys him and gets him angry all the time."
But I think that actually is the crux of their relationship, lol. Because if you think about it, to everyone else, Shen Qiao is this lofty ideal, this untouchable immortal/仙, maybe even this obstacle or goal to conquer or shoot down.
Who else treats him casually and teases him and pokes at him to get emotional reactions out of him because they like that about him?
If he wants to seek people who treat him with respect and reverence, he just has to step out into the city square - hell, he just has to travel out and random people he meets are likely to treat him with that sort of dazzled awe or reverence too (we literally see this happen several times in the course of the novel).
So yeah, I think joking not joking, YWS makes him angry and feel Emotions and he likes that, YWS is enrichment for him, YWS pushes his buttons and his boundaries but reframing that it's pushing him out of his comfort zone and like hardening him off to the elements and realities of the world like a gardener with plants out of the greenhouse. But also, YWS treats him like a person, like a man, and not like Shen-daozun, Shen-daozhang, Shen-zhangjiao. To Yan Wushi, Shen Qiao is Shen Qiao. (and he loves to tease the shit out of him hehe ( ̄▽ ̄) )
CONVERSELY! This also gives Shen Qiao a space to *be* Shen Qiao. With Yan Wushi, he does not have to be Shen-daozun, Shen-daozhang, Shen-zhangjiao. He does not have to always be magnanimous and generous and a bastion of righteousness. These are in his nature, yet, but it's not ALL of his nature - he is, after all, still a man, a human, with human emotions -- including the full breadth of human emotions. Yes Yan Wushi annoys him and he shows it, but it's specifically BECAUSE of that that they are closer than him and anyone else in the world. He can "be himself" around Yan Wushi, he can get worked up and be petty and be snippy, and it's fine and won't cause catastrophes or undesired splashdown sociopolitical effects.
But also, he (lets himself?) get worked up by Yan Wushi - they HAVE that level of intimate understanding with each other where they can be like this and not have feelings hurt in any irreparable way. This isn't something that SQ does (lets himself do?) with just anyone, which we see throughout the novel reflected in his internal narration and comportment. So really, the fact that he DOES get annoyed with YWS shows that they are on a different, more "real" level with each other than SQ is with anyone else.
And like, they didn't get there in a day, sure, but imo we definitely see through the novel how they get there, so imo, the yanshen relationship is incredibly justified.
(I also say this bc I think literally every "I've connected the two dots" moments I've had in my reread, I would metaphorically flip the page only to be met with that connection I'd made spelled out on the page by MXS lmao. Like... yeah okay MXS *shakes your hand* you know your stuff. oh and also because I do think there may be some level of skepticism about yanshen esp from SQ's side floating around lol, but like... MXS did the legwork! yes chapter 45 happened, yes YWS never "apologizes" with words, but that doesn't mean that they don't share a deep mutual understanding of themselves and each other by the end, nor that they haven't moved past the events of literally 83 chapters ago, 96 if you count the extras -- a whole literal two-thirds of the novel ago. Like, I know we piss on the poor here and many educational systems around the world are in shambles these days, but work on developing reading comprehension skills, pls :') )
(lmao rip this post got long AGAIN. well, hopefully at least some people are reading all of this lol.)

what kind of cratures do you think the trigun gang would be?
CREATURES IN GENERAL OR SEA CREATURES. BECAUSE MY FRIEND MONTY N I WERE JUST TALKING ABOUT TRIGUN FURSONAS THE OTHER DAY. but i am the sea creature guy at heart so im gonns give u those i hope that is ok 😌 there are many benefits to being a marine biologist.
Vash: he is... so very shark coded to me. everyone looks at him and sees a dangerous killing machine. frequently covered in scars. do u see the connection here. he is specifically a thresher shark to me because of the whole sharpshooter thing and also the sad sad puppydog eyes 💙
Wolfwood: i am torn between two different types of eels for him. giant morays are more aesthetically pleasing but personally i have to go with a wolf eel both for the name and because ive worked with these guys before and theyre sooooo cool so im biased
Meryl: not technically a sea creature because she is just so bird coded to me. White-Tailed Tropicbird
Milly: is it cheating to have two cephalopods on this list. because i think i really want to say giant pacific octopus for milly. either that or a whale shark 💙 yes those are two completely different animals no i will not be taking criticism at this time
bonus Knives because i love him and i feel the most strongly about this one:
BOBTAIL SQUID.
... and also a bristle worm . for what i hope are obvious reasons

Whenever someone says that they don’t do much with female characters in fandom because ‘they aren’t as developed as the men’, I still side eye the Hell out of them, because they do this shit even with canon works that do have developed female characters. They just don’t care about the women period. It’s misogyny. It’s always been misogyny.

How to tell I'm genuinely pissed: A Guide
So, I swear pretty liberally when I can, but the thing that's funny about that is a few years ago I would not have been able to. Due to my... intense Christian upbringing I wasn't able to bring myself to swear until maybe 4 years ago or so? First time I said shit on accident (which I may have just thought it, can't remember) I started profusely apologizing to God cause I was worried it'd get me a ticket to hell. All that fun stuff.
But the one thing that I've never been able to break out of swearing wise is not saying, "Oh my God," "Goddamn," or "Jesus Christ." Stuff like that. Mostly because of how one of the 10 Commandments directly says to not take God's name in vain, and because of that I can't bring myself to do it. So besides when I'm quoting something or reading out dialogue I can't ever bring myself to say those.
Except for just now, in which I have learned that anti choice assholes who try to make a point with a post that was talking about AN ONGOING GENOCIDE can make me actually say those.
