It’s safe here, with them. Safe in a way you never imagined you’d feel. Safe in a way you never found in the lonely uncertainty of falling asleep in an empty apartment. Beyond their steady hand on your back, beyond the sleepy heaviness deep behind your eyes, a thought floats into your head: do they even know? Do they know what even a simple moment like this can mean to you?

“I love you,” you mumble, just audible in the quiet afternoon.

“Love you too,” they respond, tapping a finger on the tip of your nose. “Now go to sleep, I can tell you need it.”

That’s not what I meant, your half-asleep mind protests. “No, I love you, like really love you,” you murmur again. “I’m yours — my heart is.”

They smile, finding your tired insistence adorable. “I know, love,” they reply. “And it’s perfectly safe with me, because I’m keeping it.” There’s a pause as they sigh, relaxing. “Now, sleep,” they insist softly.

Satisfied, you drift off into dreams. “You mean a lot to me too,” is the last, whispered thing you hear.

I see this AU as being that while Tim had plans to go into professional hockey after college, Corey didn't really know what he wanted. I feel like it's in Destruction's nature to genuinely appreciate pain. After all, pain is like a kind of marker for destruction - pain tells us when something is breaking or changing in our bodies. It would only be natural for Ollie to have a direct affinity with that. And although most of his partners have simply assumed that he wanted to give pain, Hob is different. He knows that Ollie likes to receive it, too.

Hob is very, very good at sadism. He has an intimate knowledge of what constitutes good and bad pain, where the borderlines are, and how a masochistic partner should be treated. Whenever he gets out his little box of tools - his flogger, his cat, his clamps, his cattle prod - his gets this look of pride in his eyes. He's got a mastery of these tools that no one else can ever come close to, and he takes great pride in it.

Giving pain to his partner means loving his partner, for Hob. Crouching over Ollie and holding him by the jaw, watching the red welts appear all over his chest from a good whipping, is the greatest height of intimacy. He loves seeing Ollie cry, basically because that means that Ollie is enjoying himself. It feels so fucking good to provide something that his lover obviously needs.

I think Hob would particularly enjoy working with his own hands. I can imagine him loving the act of face slapping, mainly because Ollie reacts to it so beautifully. His head swings back and his tongue lolls and he just looks so happy and docile. It might look like a punishment but really, it's the perfect reward for when Ollie has been a very good boy.
