Clark let himself through the front door and smiled a little. He could smell the baking you were doing before he'd even pulled up the drive way- And when he made his way into the kitchen, he grinned.

You dropped your bread dough back on the cutting board and bolted into his arms, heedless of the flour on your hands and the front of your apron. Chuckling when your lips crash against his when he catches you. "I see school is going well," he hummed.

"I missed you," you murmur, hiding your face in the crook of his neck.

"I missed you too," he answered, rubbing your back. Muffins, cookies, bread, and even a few kinds of candy covered every flat surface. The house smelled delectable. And you smelled like vanilla, sugar, and salt. "You've been busy."

You nod, pulling away to look at him, "I sent some home with your parents. I have stuff packed to go to all the offices. And I'm going to send some to the soup kitchens-"

He smiled and kissed you tenderly, reaching up to brush hair out of your face before rubbing some flour off your cheek with his thumb. "I'm sure Pa was thrilled."

"Especially when he realized I made bourbon balls and some of the shortbread he likes."

"And Ma got her blueberry muffins, I'm sure," he teased.

"Of course," you huff, turning your head to kiss his palm.

"Did you make-"

"Whatever you're about to ask for I probably made," you laugh. "I don't think I've stopped baking since I got home Friday."

And when he kisses you again, his hands sliding to a slightly less chaste position to cradle your bottom, you decide that your bread can wait.

they definitely played the mr. and mrs. game, each sitting in chairs, back-to-back, holding two shoes in their hands; one of chris’s shoes, and one of hers.
