Anyway. Bi and Mspec Lesbians aren't a hotly "debated" topic or even new to queer culture, it's just the newest thing that bullies who REALLY want to be homophobic and even racist use to justify harassing gay people they don't like.
It's the thinnest possible veneer of progressive language wrapped around TERF and reactionary rhetoric so that they can feel righteous for forming an angry mob against vulnerable targets. If you're gullible enough to fall for the newest wave of bigotry within the queer community, and turn on your allies because they're "confusing" or "invading your spaces," the SAME way they turned on bi/pan labels, trans people, xenogenders, neopronouns, and aroace people before this, then get lost.

im not sure how to feel about nate's semi-retirement video tbh.....I mean on one half good for him. he sold his catalog and is no longer pressured to keep up with algorithms and deal with the internet. he can focus on what he wants to do elsewhere and he'll come back after a certain period of time. on the other hand I feel like everything I love just keeps on disappearing so there's that

You know what would be really funny, is if people came together to have an anti-crab day. A day where every user who joined prior to automattic’s acquisition logged off for 24 hours to show that yes, actually, older user retention is important and you should listen us just as much as new users
The users giveth, the users taketh away

Need a windrunner who's scared of heights and is bitter that on this planet a drive to protect is apparently magically linked to flying instead of like, getting to summon shields or blast lightning because yeah they'll keep their oaths! but can they just do that from the ground, thanks, please?

outfit for waking up an hour late and then going to work and going home and then picking up ur bf and then putting $32 of gas in your car and then doing homework and then u and ur bf get picked up by ur friend (who you dated in hs) and his gf and when u drop your bf off at his house and he goes inside, you turn around, slip on something on the ground, and immediately fall on the concrete driveway and scrape ur elbow up so when u and ur friends go to steak n shake they buy you a milkshake and then you go to the bathroom to clean the blood off ur elbow and then you find out ur boyfriend's mom's ring doorbell didn't even SEE you FALL on the CONCRETE and you are upset because it was probably kinda funny and NOBODY EVEN SAW.

I see back and forth takes like this, and it drives me up a wall. Misattributing the problems TikTok poses to art and creative industries to kids is missing the point. Voicing your disagreement by stating "the kids are alright" is an overcorrection that paints over a different problem.
The kids aren't alright. And young people have been shouting this continuously since the youngest Millennials were in high school. Those problems aren't because of the very normal, very healthy experiences of growing up.
Exploring art, trying new things, and forming opinions on things you care about is good! That includes petty fights with peers, and hot takes you regret down the line!! That's all part of how you figure out who you are. What has been changing are the environments these processes are allowed to happen in now.
Like, let's just put it simply. There's a lack of truly No Grown-Ups Allowed spaces now. Both in fewer physical spaces, and in websites catered to minors. More and more physical areas are actively hostile to everybody, but especially the young. Where can you go when laws prohibit loitering under a certain age? If you live in an active combat zone?
So kids have been forced online, and digital spaces aren't much better. People call TikTok the teenager app, but the biggest content creators are in their 20s and 30s. The Club Penguins, Habbo Hotels, and similar websites have either shut down, require purchase, or have similarly catered more to an audience with readily disposable income (/took the Roblox avenue and turned their audience into free labor). All the options that are readily available mean sacrificing your digital privacy – all for services that treats users as both product and captive audience.
And like, just listening to kids? Hearing them out about how existence is going? The despair is heartbreaking. Clinically significant depression and anxiety is just... normal for them. Not because it's been normalized and embraced, but because it's so common among them and their peers.
And this is something we see with adults, too! Like, even the adults that didn't grow up with smart devices and social media are still being isolated by similar businesses. Media giants are built on manufacturing outrage, tech companies succeeding by encouraging doomscrolling, posts boosted by inflammatory arguments. For people that haven't had this normalized their entire lives! Can you fucking imagine your entire online life being defined by that shit? How that has been tangibly changing art and media for everybody???
Like. I hope the kids will be alright. I really do. I hope they have fun with their media, learn a lot in their arguments, find communities they click with. I want all of my friends' kids and younger relatives to be able to fuck around in the harmless ways I have in fandom spaces or whatever over the years.
I'm worried that they're not okay now, though. And I worry about how tech giants ruling over our media diets can shape both us and culture. Being a kid or teenager now seems fucking miserable. Like, three websites are defining all the terms of play! Young creators are getting burned out so young because the algorithm punished them for not conforming to trending topics!!
Ultimately, these two concerns aren't divorced. But it's not a problem where young people are at fault. They're another victim in on-going harm.

let me drop some drama on y’all — in the last year + 7 days, I:
reconnected with multiple friends from high school at a wedding I legally officiated for two old friends
realized in hindsight that I had liked one of our classmates when we were in school, who had attended the wedding and was now recently divorced
started talking to him very often and, by proxy, the husband I officiated the wedding for
started an on-off flirtation with the divorced friend — [clarification: HE started it, but I was very receptive when I realized what he was doing, it just took me a while]
became the “dump my mental health problems friend for the husband^ who I’ve said is like a baby brother to me for *checks calendar* 12+ years
was accused by my friend’s wife AND the friend that I was flirting with that I was having an affair with the husband or at least harboring romantic feelings for him
she also accused me of behaving like her abusive mother, when I told her she was out of line for even thinking I would have an affair with (1) her husband (2) who I kept saying was like a baby brother to me
held an intervention for the husband about his ragingly out of control anxiety, where he proceeded to, like, beat the windows of the car and yell and be violent [not at me but around me and I was very triggered and scared] — after which he said he couldn’t trust me anymore because I was projecting my anxiety onto him, and he was fine
fell into an episode of psychosis because I was surrounded by people who didn’t trust me for reasons they’d all made up in their heads, and were all mad at me for ❤️
[while in psychosis] dealt with the guy I was flirting with talking about wanting to sleep with his coworker, and being very on/off + hot/cold with me — which I wrote off as post-divorce emotional problems I just needed to be patient through lmao
[while in psychosis] dealt with the husband’s mental breakdown about never wanting to get married in the first place, dragging my family and the family of the guy I was flirting with into the mess — we got the husband pink slipped and I stopped talking to him and his wife
was told by the friend that had been flirting with me that he’d been leading me on, as he proceeded to ditch me for another friend that I helped him reconnect with — but promised me that we were besties and nothing would change!! (how kind. also? he broke that promise immediately and called me difficult)
dealt with his new girlfriend lying to me about them not being together, because no!! hoes before bros, Alex, I would never date someone who hurt my friend!! but also you need to be personally accountable for feeling hurt!!
there’s more in the way they’ve both treated me since he decided he was done with me, but my therapist and I are still parsing through it
turns out I probably don’t need to be taking Ativan twice a day and sleeping after work + all night bc of the high dosage, I just needed to start cutting out bad friends! my anxiety has never been more managed now that I’ve decided to listen to every other friend that’s told me these ones were all no good for me! I do need the anti-psychotics, though. I heard voices for 2 months and it was NOT a good time.
I didn’t have this much drama in my life ten years ago when we were actual children — the next time I start posting about liking a man, someone remind me that it brings me absolute misery. None of this would have happened if I hadn’t wanted to hop on his dick 🙄🙄🙄

Reblogs
So, I think that everyone on tumblr should just take a week to reblog all of the things that they liked. Because it seems that a majority of tumblr users don't know how to fucking reblog something. Reblogging things helps get shit out there, whether it be a post that could save lives, some great art, or a random shitpost. I know that the last week in every month from now on, I'm going to dedicate that to mainly reblogs, I'm starting this for me next month.
Right, just to make this clear:
Reblogs are better than likes
I get not reblogging everything you come across the minute you come across it, but reblogging really gets shit out there. But I know with especially my artwork and my story telling, I would prefer it if people reblogged those instead of just liking them
If the blog you are using isn't one you want to reblog stuff on, that's fine. Just make another blog somewhat or mainly dedicated to reblogging.
Reblogging shit helps out artists, writers, and literally everyone else.
If someone doesn't want you to reblog something of theirs they can turn off reblogs, so don't worry about that.
This is not like Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, Tiktok, etc. Likes do almost nothing. Likes are fine and dandy and I give out likes too, but to help get whatever it is out there, you need to reblog it! I end up liking stuff so I can reblog it later, and then I completely forget about it.
Reblogs are different than reposts
You might be scared to reblog something, because you thought it was the same thing as reposting something(I know I used to.) They aren't the same
Reblogs still give credit to the person who originally posted that. Reposts is taking someone's work and passing it off as your own.
When you reblog something you will see your username and there will be a little rectangle, made of two arrows pointing at each other and then the username of the person you reblogged the post from. The first message will contain the username of the person who made the original post. If this is not what you see when you've reblogged something, that means that you're doing it wrong.
Other Reblog stuff
When you reblog something, you don't have to say something else or even put tags if you don't want to. If you end up changing your mind you can reblog the post again with what you want to say and what tags you're going to use. You can also edit it if you want, but another reblog would be more helpful.
Remember, you can always go back and view your likes and reblog them whenever. I know my likes are just filled up because my brain was like 'future reblog' when I pressed that little heart.
Absolutely roasting someone is okay and even encouraged in most circumstances
To reblog something there is a botton that looks like a rectangle with two arrows pointing at eachother. You just hit that, say what you want to say and/or tag it, or not. And click reblog.
Reblog this if you too will take even just a day out of a month to reblog your likes, or if you want to get it out there that people on tumblr need to start actually fucking using tumblr!
Oh and just incase it escaped the people who came here from other social media platforms:
Tumbler is not like other social media platforms, so don't treat it like it is. Here's how it works, you post random shit and reblog random shit. DO NOT REPOST.
