Do Dendro Vision Holders Deserve Their Element?

What is Dendro?

associated with knowledge/wisdom in genshin, dendro is a form of florakinesis [technically}.

Plants->trees->old->wisdom

also

Plants-> trees-> paper->books->knowledge.

healing traits can be due medicinal propertied of certain plants.

and with plants association to life, nurturing.

this element feels pretty self explanatory to me which is good when you compare it to how hard electro was for me.

Collei

Despite her past, Collie is a kind soul. the healing trait works here because she IS healing. She's gotten far and we cured her of eleazar, but she needs to heal mentally as well, and I wish the best to her.

her being experimented on could also be seen as the corruption of the thirst for knowledge.

biologist.

knowledgable in his field.

has medicinal knowledge so healing.

kind

parent, so nurturing. [He and Cyno are totes Collei's adoptive dads and I'm here for it.'

KAVEH AND ALHAITHAM

hush! those two are together for reason.

Kaveh and alhaightam is definitely knowledgable.

while Kaveh may have the specialised knowledge needed for his field, Alhaitham's desire to learn about the world gives him a wider scope of knowledge, and he's constantly learning.

common misconception I noticed is that Kaveh is the Idealist in the relationship. They both are heavy idealists and they live with their ideals to the max.

Kaveh is empathetic and uses his heart for decisions to the point of self sabotage, while Alhaitham leans too far into logic.

They may represent the two factors of the pursuit of knowledge.

LOGIC & UNDERSTANDING

which is why while those two are opposites to each other, they're also strangely compatible.

look, I like my emotional messes dating put-together logicians, but those two are in such extremes I didn't get the ship for a bit. I don't know how they work well together as characters but I'm not gonna analyse that relationship.

so yeah.

CONCLUSION

dendro is the latest element introduced so it's characters are sparse. and there are some that really may not have good justifications.

FALLING IN LOVE

This is Isekai SAGAU, but not Cult AU, if that makes sense.

Featuring: Diluc, Kaeya, and Jean

You could definitely say that he caught your eye. Seeing how he handled that Abyss Mage, being able to play him as a trial character for the first time... Yes, you sir (gender neutral) were in love with this man and his battle prowess.

And yeah, maybe you found better characters for more serious challenges offered in the game, but nothing was quite like your love for your main: Diluc Ragnvindr.

It only makes since, then, that this favoritism and newfound strength of his should carry on into your isekai into Teyvat. Getting Diluc was the easy part, but befriending him in person? Face to face, no wiki page or video tutorial? Yeah, you just about expected it wouldn't happen.

Truth be told, if you were just a liiittle more discreet about the fact you were essentially God, you may have flown under his radar. Would've never suspected that you'd be capable of pushing his vision to new heights, nor able to 'ascend' him closer to Celestia.

You really do scare him in that aspect. Your power doesn't come at any cost for him nor you, and you just... don't care? This is normal and healthy and fun for you? You know, most people drink for fun.

And so, if you are going to be reckless and use your lack of repercussion as an excuse to travel alone, then Diluc was simply going to have to accompany you. with a leash.

Then love did the darnedst thing. It struck him from behind, where he never saw it coming — where he felt you press your arms around him for a hug. Suddenly, you were everything. You were the sun and he, the moon. You were the stars that adorned his long and arduous nights, barely illuminating the city streets for him.

The thought of your smile gave him all he needed to protect Mondstadt and come back home to you — you were home, and you stayed at the Dawn Winery.

You still waited, even though he granted you permission to retire for the night. You stayed in the candlelight, where you'd listen for his arrival; nowadays, even that candlelight held not a single flicker close to the warm fire that engulfed his very heart. He was the dawn; you were the day and night.

He placed his hand over his heart and his gloves could even still feel the cycles of light and dark, of love and winter. They followed each other, dancing until you won — you were the sun and he, the moon.

Together, when he held your hand again, he could sense the dawn that had settled. When you fell asleep on your adventure with him through Teyvat, it was as though the sun didn't just fall asleep; it crashed into him as he guarded your body. Its flames burned his skin, searing desire into him once more. It was love and it burned him not to kiss you goodnight.

You could imagine his pain, then, when he had to sleep alone. The sun watched over the both of you until morning, where it just barely touched him.

At times, it felt like he would burn alive if he couldn't give in. He'd blow up if he couldn't truly determine where you stood — he'd just die.

Right there, Diluc was falling hard, and he'd give just about anything to figure out if you felt the same.

KAEYA

One of the first characters you met, and honestly, you were determined to main him. Now, if you were a F2P player, it would be hard, but you could buy his constellations. In the mean time then, you were going to at least level up all of his talents first. You were going to grind for him, and try to get him at full power, because you were going to build him to his highest power — you KNEW it was fate.

And maybe you should damn yourself, and damn fate, for throwing you into this world before you could perfect him. Damn you, Celestia, for the cruelty of having to personally grind for a character!

And especially damn Kaeya, for being so charming and calm about it. Oh no, he KNEW he was growing stronger, but who'd have thought it was because of you?

At first, he tried to be a little sneaky. Oh, you were talking to yourself about your new Godhood? Boom. He knows and he'll be cheeky, all proud of himself as he hides this knowledge — studies you further to see if maybe your claimed involvement holds water.

Well, he'll be damned. You can make vision-wielders stronger, somehow. He presents this information to you, all sly and in a 'yeah I kinda know everything' manner. Look at his face when you show him you really didn't care — it'll give you a good laugh.

You were really okay with the fact he knew something so personal and dangerous and, ugh, he— did you know?!? He doesn't say it so incredulously, but to the well-trained eye you had, you could see past the façade and into his annoyed eye. You mean he could've just... asked you about it? Why are you even this honest??

Maybe it was the revelation of your honesty that caught his eye or maybe it was your nature of mystery that shrouded your presence. Still, whatever it was, it definitely got him. He looked at his vision and saw his brother, but he saw you in his sword.

You... really tried to make him strong, didn't you? You made it sound like a grand investment; something that took a lot from you so that he could be the strongest among the Knights, if not the strongest in Mondstadt. That really meant something to him, whether you've figured that out or not.

It was all too likely then, that he'd fall for you. Everyone else had found their special someone and now this is his. You were finally his 'someone who wanted him around and accepted him'.

When you reveal that you know his darkest secret and you still care, you gave him a house. You kept his secret and you gave him food; your words of encouragement was the water he needed, as bitter as it was.

You were here for him — his truest friend. You were worth fighting for and you were someone who he could see himself with. He could look after you. He could protect you when he found the time.

So, with a lighter heart and stronger arms, he raised his sword and fought with you. He was truly and madly in love with you now, secrets or not. It didn't matter that you were one of few to know; you were all he needed.

He just needs to figure out how to tell you and when to do it...

JEAN

Now, unlike Kaeya and Diluc, you didn't actually main Jean prior to your isekai. In any case, you still cared for and valued her. When you were brought into the world of Teyvat, one of the first things you did was check in on Jean after Barbara mumbled about her worries for her. Jean gets it, her sister made you worry...

... but it was like, all of a sudden, it became a personal matter to you. Like you knew the damage she did to herself in trying to be more than the Dandelion Knight for Mondstadt. It wasn't very long until you were starting to get involved in her work-life balance and routine. Yes, she's very thankful for your kind words, but did you HAVE to cut off her coffee intake? Yes, you did She could take care of herself! No, she really couldn't

And okay, maybe the reason she puts up with now is no longer because of her sister's sake. This was supposed to be about Barbara sleeping peacefully about her sister, but somehow, Barbara's relief became more of an additional benefit. Jean had another reason to relax. Somewhere along the way, Jean started to feel a draw towards this person — this entity who cared for her in the intimate setting of her office after work. This individual with unforeseen power and abilities, and yet they held her so sweetly.

They asked for her opinion on romance novels. They asked Lisa for books that Jean might like, which Lisa had laughed about to Jean. This traveller completed commissions around Mondstadt; especially ones that had bothered Jean for a while on her desk. Sure, they cut off her coffee if they felt she had too much, but they made her some in the morning, too. They threw a blanket over her if she fell asleep at her desk, and surprise! Missing cats were found and menacing monster met their end.

Sometimes, she'd even find a flower on her desk, with a little story written on how it was found and how they thought it was cute. There was no shortage of reminders to hydrate and check her posture. She'd even heard from other knight on how you can be when someone is trying to report to Jean while she's resting!

Apparently, you give one hell of a glare if they even think of waking her up. She already knows that you'll end up writing it down for her if it wasn't already reported on paper. You were sweet like that. Therefore, how could she not fall in love you?

Kind, helpful, thoughtful you who tried your hardest to make her life easier, like some sort of assistant.

What a capable 'assistant' you were, with the ability to use 'artifacts' and wield elements without a vision. She now found herself thinking of you during her work. She kept all your flowers, treasured your notes... she had a whole filing cabinet dedicated to your silly stories. She loves all of them, and she's even started to come to terms with that fact that maybe, just maybe...

... ah, it's time for work again. You're proabbly waiting for her in her office, again.

out of character, Xiao x Female ! Reader

Turning on the game, she couldn't help but to get a tiny bit excited, and it was for good reason too. Just recently, she had managed to pull xiao on rerun banner. To be completely honest, she never thought she could get him especially since she missed his first banner. (Though, she only missed it because she didn't start playing the game until a few months ago during Childe's second rerun...)

And, of course, there was the fact she was a f2p. In other words, she couldn't and probably wouldn't spend money on anything that the shop had to offer. Though, she was tempted to ask her parents every so often for playstation money .. but she would be too embarrassed to admit as to why she needed it.

"Finally," she said with a sigh in her voice. The screen finally loaded and her Xiao was standing by a Statue of The Seven. I think I'm still in Liyue....

"Well, whatever .. I may not be able to level Xiao up right now, but I did manage to get all of his ascension materials. Along with some good artifacts, but .. it's only thanks to the co-op players that joined me a few weeks ago. They are the true heroes."

She sheepishly smile at the screen as she started to move Xiao around. Jumping down a cliff face and opening the glider. She maneuvered him so he wouldn't get any fall damage.

B E E P

She glanced over at her phone as a frown crossed her face. Setting down her controller, she plucked up the device and opened the screen. Her mood taking a turn for the worse.

"Why does this always happen ...?"

Looking at her messages, she decided to ignore the person and turn off her phone instead.

Lately, school hasn't been the best for her. She was recently placed in a team project with two other people. And these two people were dead set on her doing all the work, and frankly ... it was tiring. They bullied her constantly, and she didn't want to tell someone of her troubles because she didn't want to seem like a burden or even a disappointment. Which was why she decided to tough it out and continue to tell them that she already did her part, but

as she said

it was tiring.

Grabbing her controller once more, she just sort of sat there for a few seconds. Blankly looking at the screen. If it wasn't for those two, then her school life would be better. It would be way better.

"I shouldn't cry about it ...or whine, or wish for something better. It'll all be over soon. I'm sure of it."

She failed to notice how her Xiao looked at her for a brief second before going to an idle animation.

She got back to playing as she was before.

"Ow, ow, ow," she winced as she sat down. Her game already loaded and Xiao was waiting by a statue as he was the day before.

"It hurts so much," she wheezed as she tried to take in any air available. But it was proving hard to breathe.

Lifting up her shirt, she looked at difference in pigmentation in her (color) skin. Bruises.

Her two teammates didn't like how she talked back, so of course they would resort to physical abuse in the ways of bullying.

"I just ... I just," she couldn't finish her sentence as the tears started to pool at the corners of her eyes.

"Are you alright, y/n?"

Dropping the hem of her shirt, she snapped her head to the screen.

That was .. that was Xiao's voice-

She looked at the character. When she had loaded the game, he was facing towards the statue, but now he was facing towards her. And she didn't remember touching the controller before looking at her bruises.

Y/n...

That was another thing, she didn't put her name as Y/n in the game she put it as Lumine 'cause she didn't know what name to choose when first starting the game. Of course, she could have always changed the name at any time, but nothing ever came to mind.

"Are you alright?"

He asked again.

Looking around the living room, she made sure her parents or sister weren't around. The last thing she needed was for them to see her talking to her tv screen.

Seeing no one, she looked back at Xiao. His arms were crossed over his chest and he was looking at her, seemingly waiting for a response.

"No?"

She was still trying to figure out if this was real or not.

"Those were bruises, right? Who gave them to you? Was it those so called teammates you have to work with for school?"

To say she was flabbergasted was an understatement. If this was real, then he knew more about her than she thought.

Was he always watching over her when she turned on the game?

If that was the case, it made her feel .. less tired than before.

"Well, they-," she thought for the right words, "they were the ones who did it, but how do you know about them? Or even about the project?"

"You talk more than you realize."

That's kind of embarrassing, she thought to herself.

"Oh... uhm, sorry about that."

"It's .. it's fine. Hearing you is the best part of my day."

She couldn't stop a blush forming against her (skin color) cheeks.

"I-," she collected herself so she could smile, "thanks, Xiao."

Nodding, he turned back around, but before resuming his usual state, he turned his head slightly to give her a side-eyed stare, "remember, Y/n. If you ever need me .. just call out my name. I'll be there."

She hoped he would be.

Would you recommend Playing Star Rail to anyone? Why or why not?

no, i wouldn't. my own dislike of turn based games aside, here are the reasons:

1.Way too little content. Right now there are basically two regions and a starter area. Each has like 6-8 maps, every map is just corridors with like 10-11 chests and couple of puzzles on some maps. You go through basically all of it during main quests. They just released second half of the second archon quest. There are like some side quests, but they play pretty quickly. You can go through all of this in like a week max if you play slowly and bc some quests\puzzles are time-locked to make them feel longer.

There is simulated universe, which is fun at the start, but once you build your characters and figure out best buffs, it also becomes boring, because it's the same enemies in the same corridors. I enjoyed it for like a week, and now I play it once a week for rewards and thats it, which takes like 40 min.

There is also like hsr's equivalent of abyss. Idk, you can theoretically replay same fights over and over there until you get 3 stars, but like. I mean, if that's your cup of tea, I'm not kinkshaming, but personally I play through it once and that's it. so like. another hour in a week mb.

2.So, once you burn through available content, there is literally nothing to do but grind resources. I explain to you my daily routine:

1.log in. Do daily rewards missions for primos.

2.use autoplay to grind resources. mb upgrade characters if you can

3.log off.

because there is no exploration in hsr, there is literally nothing to do but replay abyss and simulated universe over and over

3.Again, because there is no exploration and limited number of quests, it's literally impossible to get primos if you want them without spending. You can only get them from daily rewards (like 60 I think?) and events. Like, if you already did quests and abyss, that's it, you can't get even one wish per day. say what u want about genshin, but if you actually play the game, you can get 2-5 wishes daily just from exploration and quests. And there are roughly bazillion more quests in genshin, bc it's a huge game that was out for years. I have 100% exploration on my main account in every region and I still have like 20 quests and hangouts not done there despite playing for like 1,5 years.

so in genshin, if you want a character and you spent your free event wishes etc, you can grind the primos for free. I know, bc I do on my new f2p acc, like you can get like 100 wishes per banner which guarantees at least one 5 star. I started Kazuha's banner with 0 savings. spent 30 whishes on kazuha and then 70 on alhaitham and then stopped pulling bc i didn't want to main alhaitham again lol, so probably could get another 5 star on hard pity.

In hsr, you can do nothing, but spend money. Like, I started Luocha banner with 15 wishes saved and at the end of his banner I was at 70 pity. I couldn't even get to 5 star pity. I happened to get him on the last day on 73 pity and win 50-50. But if I didn't, I couldn't go grind like in genshin, I could just spend.

So I think gatcha monetization feels much more predatory in hsr bc once you're through very limited content, you're out of options.

TLDR: play this game if you, like me, need to waste time and only have your phone on you. Like I'm often bored at work, this is why I make shitposts on tumblr and have several other time-wasting apps. Also make sure you're won't be tempted to spend money on gacha. Please don't spend money on this game guys. Its turn based, its easier than genshin, you literally DO NOT NEED strong characters to play, and like. Paying money so game can auto-play itself is just insane to me. Please don't. You can find cool looking anime art on the internet for free.

Don't play otherwise.

Genshin challenges

I've set myself a challenge in Genshin - well 2 actually and I'm going to be doing them.

The first is one that I've already started. It's where I pick 14 teams out of the 15 team slots and build each character, test their abilities and see if the team comp works. I have 3 teams built and I'm working on the 4th at the moment. It's quite fun and I enjoy testing out the teams, plus it's great for when the spiral abyss resets so I have other team comps to use.

(The 15th slot is for random teams used to fight bosses. I have a team that I use exclusively for the Ruin Serpent and a team exclusively for Azhdaha. Need to make more for the other bosses)

The second one is starting tomorrow.

As of 4.6, I will not be spending a single primogem at all. This will be my hardest challenge since I will not only be doing this for all of 4.6, but also up until 5.0. I want to see just how many primogems a f2p player can get from just dailies, maintenance, exploration, events, the spiral abyss (still can't 36 star btw), character trials, redeem codes, achievements etc.

In the 3 years I've played, no money has been spent so I'm completely f2p and since I'm more of a spender of my wishes than a saver, I wanna try and save. I did save recently because I badly wanted Kazuha and managed to save up 30 wishes and got him and his signature weapon, by skipping the banners: Xianyun & Nahida, Xiao & Yae Miko and Chiori & Itto. The last day I spent was on the 2nd of February and I got Gaming. I was pretty proud of my saving achievement and decided to raise the stakes.

So during 4.6, 4.7 & 4.8, no primogems will be spent HOWEVER, acquaint fates will be. Since I'm doing the team challenges as well, I will need to level up characters, thus giving me free acquaint fates as well as the free Battle Pass section gives you 5 acquaint fates.

The fountain of Lucine will update on 4.6, thus giving me more and I still have the Inazuma & Sumeru trees to level and get more acquaint fates that way. All intertwined gates from the fountain and trees and primogems, however, can not and will not be touched.

When 5.0 is announced, I will choose my character I want and see if I can AT LEAST get them and their signature, if not just them will do. I have won my 50/50 in both the character and weapon banners, so there's a chance that I may lose but hopefully I will have enough to get them and win. I may get lucky (I really hope so!) and get them early or win my 50/50, but knowing my luck; I'd need a miracle for that to happen.

Day 2: Cracks in the ice

Starting to really see the limitations on playtime in L&D and I’m not fond of them

Not being able to get exp from fighting is a huge deal since everything is locked behind it. Your limitations are limited because you can’t even unlock them

And I realized too late that the crane game is limited to 3 a week/guy and not 3 a day. I know they put the game under “date” to make it feel like a once a week thing but what if I want to live in the arcade like I’m currently living in the gold saucer lmao

The only thing that isn’t limited is poking the guys (with limited lines based on affinity) and of course buying more gacha currency. They seem really heavy-handed on pushing you to open your wallet

I just want a reason to come back to the game for more than my daily missions, which is the only way to get exp right now

And right after I wrote all that, I got this line for the first time and I haven't seen it ever again lmao. Fucking RUDE

I answered the second survey with a lot of recommendations on gameplay, emphasizing the exp issue, but I doubt they plan to change it since battles not giving out player exp has got to be a conscious decision. It goes against the basic principles of any game with a fighting and exp system.

The gacha mats seem to be really limited too. Aside from the few diamonds and tickets you get from daily missions, it feels to me that game isn't very f2p friendly

With only three guys, it doesn't feel THAT bad right now, but with this "Coming soon" message here, I'm assuming they won't be stopping at three guys. And if they're already profiting from such a stingy system, I don't see them making it easier for f2p players

Maybe I'm just used to how generous GBF is, but the amount of limitations on this game makes me feel frustrated. And with how attached they make you feel towards the guys, it makes me feel a little lonely too since the game basically forces you to stop playing once you've finished your daily missions.

I do like the concept, the writing, the graphics, the voices, the music, the battles. Everything about this game gets an A+ from me. Everything except the limits, how the player exp works, and how everything is locked behind daily missions.

Little funny bits like these are always nice to see. I just wish there were more of them and that we'd be able to interact with our favourite boys more.

With all that said, one of the last questions on the survey was if I'd continue playing.

Unfortunately, the answer is yes because they've already got me with Satou's voice and the cozy atmosphere. That, and I've been STARVING for a good otome game for YEARS. And one finally shows up with a well-dressed Satou character. There's no way I can turn my back on that.

He may sometimes be portrayed as having the emotional intelligence of a rock but I'm glad they gave him a softer personality outside of the main story.

And the lowkey suggestive lines? They got me good with those. I need more of that shit

I'm pretty sure I won't have enough gacha currency to pull for the upcoming banner so I mean, as much as I want to keep playing the game, they don't make it easy. You can't even grind your way to more gacha pulls. The only way to get more of the boys is to open your wallet. And since I'm playing on an emulator, it doesn't even look like I'd be able to purchase anything even if I wanted to

Considering they're giving players opportunities to voice their opinions in surveys every few levels, it's a good sign that they want to improve their game. I just hope they take those opinions to improve the game's QOL, especially for f2p players

baizhu if you weren't in a game i can't play for brain health reasons, i'd love you so so hard. ARGH genuinely frustrated to know a POSSIBLE LOVE AT FIRST SIGHT F/O exists here and if i pursue him my brain is going to implode both mood-wise and gacha-f2p-efficiency-disease-wise.

On a lighter note, I got into Nu:Carnival a few days ago! So far I've mostly been grinding and trying to clear as much of the current events and their stages as I can, but I've loved what I did read of main story. Especially Eiden.

I am shamelessly admitting that the Salacious King card preview was singlehandedly what made me finally start playing (I downloaded the game a while back, like a few weeks or so, but couldn't bring myself to start). I need that man. I'm honestly so fucking down bad for Eiden, it's kinda embarrassing. I hope I'll eventually get his other SSR card, too. He's just so!!! Ugh, I want to be his maid. Loveable bastard.

Also, I ended up wanting to adopt Garu and Karu as my little brothers and now I am mentally preparing myself for the awkwardness of reading H-scenes with them, lol. My boys... I just want to pamper them, cook tasty food for them and give them headpats daily (even at the risk of having Karu bite me for it)! Let me take care of them! Please!

In conclusion: I can finally understand what your Nu:Carnival posts are about, yay ＼⁠(⁠^⁠o⁠^⁠)⁠／

I love Eiden. I cannot explain to you how many times I pulled last year to build him up to 3*. He is such a little freak (affectionate) and a complete sweetheart that genuinely wants the best for all of the clan members. I adore him and will always do my best to get his cards (they only come out once a year, so thankfully that's a rare time I have to whale). I also loooooove how some battles actually require me to use strategy or switch out my team based on what a card's benefits are. I actually feel like getting many cards serves a purpose in this game!

And, uhhh, yeah. Salacious King is... fuck. I am dumb looking at him. I'm so fucking gay. But, just a heads up, Galactic Mist Eiden (lat year's card) will likely get a banner than requires sorcery gems (the red gems that are hard to get if you're f2p). 2 gems for a 1x, 20 gems for a 10x. Nu:C is unique in that you don't get increased pull rates for a 10x so you can draw a few 1x if you really want. But... yeah, not a cheap card to try and pull the second time around.

Garu and Karu.... AHHAHAHHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHHAHAHHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHHHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHHAHA

yaaarrgghhh... torn between rolling for Kazuha or Scaramouche. on the one hand. Kazuha is like. actually useful to me and would gas up Neuvillete. on the other. Hat guy is my little scrungly hater and i regret having to skip him so many times.

I am really curious about that new vanguard archetype ngl. Also, seeing the Last Knight in Mizuki’s IS makes me wonder if he’s that game mode’s elite op or welfare (I would rather welfare so I can use him in normal stages, plus only Crimson Solitaire having a welfare would make me sad)

Also, both Gavial and Pozmeka look really fun. I know some are disappointed that the limited is yet another alter (and some are disappointed about there only being one Durin op in a Durin centric event) but at least everyone looks fun (well we need to see the skills for the 5* first)

It's not a Summer event without Hypergryph causing a scandal lmao.

First Thorns appearing in Heart of Surging Flame's rerun causing such a vicious uproar over how unexpected it was that all future reruns never introduced new operators, then Ch'en the Holungday making the fanbase so angry they had her artist redraw her face to avoid complaints saying she was samefacing Blaze and still got like 13 furious demands from the Chinese playerbase demanding more rolls / lower spark requirements and alters needing to be truly different sides of a character rather than just slapping a bikini on, and now disappointment that the Durin event isn't getting its Durins.

It's genuinely fascinating to me every time and I'm actually really glad the Chinese players have such high expectations of Hypergryph keeping Arknights F2P friendly, skill-based, and tone-consistent, even if sometimes it goes overboard ( Did Ch'en's face really need to be redrawn for anti-samefacing?) HG has to be reminded its fanbase won't let them stray from what made Arknights so appealing in the first place.

Still really hoping the demands for 120 rolls to spark rather than 300 is something that eventually happens. If they could do it for Rainbow Six, they can do it for their operators.

Half because I am currently not able to download any steam games on my computer because parental restrictions, and half because my social anxiety when it comes to multiplayer games is HORRIBLE (like I'm constantly one bad interaction away from breaking down) BUT!

I do still watch gameplays and analyse each character mechanics and gameplay

PERSONALLY, I like the pyro class! It's a pretty easy class for beginners as you're mostly setting flames everywhere and not shooting, but it can also have plenty of more advanced strategies, so it's really fun to play it as both a beginner and advanced player. The air blast is nuttyyy bro I love that mechanic

Engineer is a second favourite (definitely not because he's also my fav character) although you DO need to know the game and maps better to be able to play him properly because engineer heavily relies on strategic positioning. Gotta know where to place your sentries and teleporters in a way to effectively defend and help your team and win

As for teams, I don't think I'd really care for which one I'm on, I'd just shoot guy on other team an call it a day

So ueah, would like to play tf2 in the future sometime, when I'm able to do it freely AND pay because there's NO WAY IN HELL I'm playing tf2 without voice commands (which I think sucks because f2p players really shouldn't be disadvantaged in such a way in a game that RELIES on TALKING TO YOUR TEAM) but for now, I'm just enjoying the comics and the fanmade stuff! There are SO many sfms and gmod videos and references I've yet to get

ah hello anon! i hope you're enjoying the game and you are correct; this is my area of expertise ohohoho

the only answer to your question: break out your wallet and get both pull whoever you like more

since you mentioned abyss, all characters are viable some more than others but childe and zhongli are both great for abyss runs and both are considered f2p friendly. if you really want my opinion, i say go for zhongli because childe is for sweaty gamers, whereas zhongli is mainly for people that like comfort but he does appeal to all crowds. they are night and day though when it comes to their roles:

zhongli - off-field support, easy gameplay, easy to build, low investment, good pick for many teams but is usually not the best option

childe - on-field dps, steeper learning curve, harder to build, higher investment, is only good for one team but that one team is arguably the best team in the game and childe will be your best option for that specific team (you can use him as your hydro in other teams but he will perform worse than others)

very long explanations under cut:

there really isn't much to say about zhongli. he is the best shielder in the game and the comfort he brings is valuable. unfortunately, he doesn't provide much outside of defensive utility, which kinda ties in with what i said with him usually not being the best pick for a lot of teams because once ppl learn to survive without his shield, they start to phase zhongli out of their teams for more offensive options. i used to do abyss clears for friends and whenever i felt like i needed more damage, zhongli would often be the first one to be swapped out. that being said, getting hit and flung around or just dying is considered a dps loss lmao so unless you're a pro-gamer with perfect dodges, zhongli will always hold some value. i always bring him on my personal account because he lets me turn my brain off lol

but ya, since zhongli doesn't offer much outside of defensive utility, i do think his pull value is heavily affected by your account and which other characters you might have. characters like baizhu, kokomi, kirara, diona, layla etc will all give him competition and even though they might not be superior defensive options, they offer other utility outside of survivability. he's still a good pull though! there's just many things to consider

childe is unfortunately a one-trick pony and is only good in one team. you are free to use him in other teams, but he is outclassed by the other hydros and requires more effort to learn. his one good team though is arguably the best team in the game and is referred to as international, consisting of childe, kazuha, xiangling, and bennett, and childe is the best hydro for this team. the team is regarded highly by low to mid spenders because a c0 childe can perform on par with many other teams consisting of five stars with constellations and is a great team for speedrunning abyss and has been the only team consistently in the top five of abyss teams for the past two years. a couple of reasons why the team is good: damage is split somewhat evenly between childe and xiangling and you buff both of them, which is unlike teams with xiao or eula where you only buff the main dps. the team has a good mix of front-loaded (childe burst) and consistent (childe melee and xiangling burst) damage, making rotations flexible and adaptable to whatever abyss decides to throw at you (ex: you can kill off a wave of enemies with childe's burst and then save xiangling's burst for another wave). although the team is primarily aoe focused, it still does good damage in single-target scenarios, which is great because most other teams usually are only good in one scenario. the team does have a steeper learning curve and has a bunch of nuances you need to get used to and if you hate xiangling for whatever reason, you will have a bad time, but there's a good reason why childe is the golden child of the speedrunning community

although childe is harder to play, his playstyle is a good gateway to understanding genshin's mechanics, if you're interested in that. also, his complicated kit does mean he has a few tricks up his sleeve that only childe can do and while most of them are situational, they do have their uses and does make him a surprisingly versatile character, despite the constricting cooldown

anyway, since childe is heavily tied to international, i've linked a good video below if you feel like watching to get a better understanding of his playstyle (it's a long video, but the basics section is the important part and it's not that bad and also i like the cute fanart lol). also, even though international is good, it is overkill and you don't need this much damage to clear abyss, so if that doesn't interest you, then maybe childe isn't best for you, but he's still a good pick. sorry that this is so long, but i hope my response helps and that it all makes sense!

Alright, buckle up anon because I'm here to help you!

Abbreviation index:

ER = Energy recharge

EM = Elemental Mastery

F2P = Free to Play

DPS = Damage per second

Cdmg = Crit damage

CR = Crit rate

Elegy and Stringless (Any stringless is fine, but R5 is preferred!) are fantastic weapons for a Venti that's meant to support your team. Honestly, I would recommend Stingless over Elegy for the support role, as in my opinion, Venti doesn't need the huge amount of ER that the Elegy provides, HOWEVER, if your team is all geo and anemo, then stringless is useless, and elegy would be by far better in this case.

Pros for Stringless:

F2P friendly

Lowest investment build for Venti

Works amazing as is in comps where you're constantly swirling different reactions

Cons for Stringless:

Venti's personal DPS dmg is not that good

If using only anemo and geo team comp, it is useless

Pros for Elegy:

You don't have to worry about ER (Venti and his team members will constantly have their bursts ready to go)

Better personal DPS dmg than the stringless

You can use it in literally any team comp

Cons for Elegy:

You have to pull on the weapon banner, which is a real gamble

You likely won't be able to R5 it like a Stringless if you're F2P

If you're going to do a support build, then for your artifacts I recommend: EM, Anemo, EM. If you really wanted to, you could replace the anemo cup with even more EM, but honestly, I'd just go for the anemo cup. However, if you have an anemo and geo only team comp, then ignore that and go for Attack (or ER if you want more ER), Anemo, Cdmg/CR.

If you're going with these builds, I recommend 4pc Viridescent for his artifact set.

Now, let's veer away from the support build and talk about his DPS build. You asked about the Skyward Harp, and as a DPS Venti main who uses the Skyward Harp, I'm here to help!

Crit building for Venti does require a higher investment than support Venti. Now what do I mean by that? I mean you're gonna be farming for a long time to get artifact pieces for Venti, if you go the DPS route, because his support build is kinda just... you smack stuff onto him and it works. Crit build Venti takes more care and consideration but it's an investment that pays off well. Skyward Harp serves him well with this build because it also provides some CR and Cdmg from it's stats alone to help you build him easier; and to boot, it even has a high base attack stat and occasionally deals additional dmg.

Pros for Skyward Harp:

One of his best DPS weapons

Helps with Cr/Cdmg which means you have some wiggle room with copium artifacts

Venti solo? Venti solo. The man is a beast and can easily kill stuff on his own. Big pp dmg.

Team comp? Who cares, this build will work no matter what.

Cons for Skyward Harp:

You're either hoping and praying to get it on the standard banner or you're pulling on the weapon banner for it, either way, not easy to R5.

High investment, this is a Venti that takes TIME and LUCK to build.

Now in terms of artifact stats, there is only one build I recommend, and it's your typical crit build: Attack, Anemo and Cdmg/CR.

As for your artifact set, you COULD go around with a 4pc Viridescent it still works perfectly fine with this build and many people do it; however, my personal build, and what I recommend for crit Venti builds is actually 2pc Viridescent and 2pc any set that has +18% attack.

Now that we're talked about bows and artifacts, let's talk about constellations.

I'll preface this by saying that Venti is already a complete character who is 100% usable and strong on his own even at C0. Many people don't get Venti Cons.

However, if you DO decide to get Venti cons, then your DPS Venti is rewarded greatly and will do some insane and broken damage. As a support, he's pretty much fine as is, maybe go for his C2 at most if you really wanna maximize him from a support standpoint. However, as a DPS, if you want to make Venti as strong as possible, because you love him that much, then his best cons are: C2, C4 and C6. I would only consider getting constellations for Venti if you REALLY love him, and don't have plans to pull for anyone else that might be coming out soon. His cons are great, they're cracked, but they're also not needed to "fix" Venti, because he's not a broken unit at all. Personally, I went for his C6 because I'm a Venti simp and I wanted him to be as strong as possible. I have no regrets, and if I had the option to, I would do it again because in my opinion it's worth it to see my favourite character just demolish stuff. It really comes down to YOU and what YOU think.
