A scene in @holleighgram's Life Long Strangers fic that I really liked!
[ID: A drawing of Sora and Riku from Kingdom Hearts dancing and singing together, holding hands as they do so. Sora is looking up at Riku while Riku's eyes are closed as he dances. Sora is wearing a red hoodie with black accents, grey basketball shorts and red converse with the Kingdom Hearts heart and crown logo in place of the converse logo. Riku is wearing white and black shirt, black skinny jeans and black converse with the same logo as Sora's in place of the converse logo. He is also wearing a black wristwatch.
The background consists of dark pink with warmer light pink light behind Sora and a cooler light pink behind Riku. There are numerous semi-transparent hearts scattered in the background. The lyrics
“It’s not enough to take the one you love for granted!”
are in the background as well.]

Kaishin Reveal and What It Means For You
Okay I need everyone to keep their shit together because I think this is being blown out of proportion. What follows is a quick rant about what the hell is going in the DCMK fandom and what is going on in fandom in general cause I don’t know why I’m seeing so many people lose their shit over something that was most likely going to happen followed by a quick lesson by a ‘fandom elder’ on how to ignore canon and make a ship your own.
Spoilers ahead and whatnot.
April 11th the DCMK 27 movie came out and information was revealed about how Kaito Kuroba and Shinichi Kudou are now cousins. Twitter lost its mind, Tumblr lost its mind, Discord servers are being created and now everyone is wondering what the hell should they do.
I’m going to be honest, if you are a creator for KaiShin, please don’t delete your work.
Either archive it or orphan it but please don’t delete it.
You put time and effort into this, into something you love, and just because the mangaka is so SO set in his ways of every single ship being friends to lovers does not mean you have to follow the same format. This doesn’t make you an incest shipper or whatever, it doesn’t make you a person who you don’t want to be, it’s just something that you had no idea of knowing was going to happen and I hope that you can look back at it fondly.
Anyways, for those enjoying Kaishin on the sidelines all I’m going to say is Pick a Lane.
Ignore Canon
If you are an old time shipper then this may not be new for you. I mean Gosho literally had another ship that turned out to be cousins like at this point it’s ‘who is my cousin’ being played in the entire Detective Conan manga. You either already guessed it, are an active incest shipper (hi, hello, tis a me) or you are used to your favourites dying. This situation is no fucking different.
Wolfwood is dead, in my head he is alive and well and treating his Plant husband right.
Sora is missing, not in my head where he is kissing Roxas and Riku and Kairi and whoever else wants to get at the sunshine of the KH universe.
Ben is dead, NOT IN MY REYLO FANFICTION.
If you are a person who actively kept up with the manga or actively kept up with the show it is possible to ignore canon because they do not suddenly go super deep into being cousins and knowing about each other. They both don’t know if they are cousins or else the jig would be up immediately and the manga would be finished. You CAN ignore canon and if Kaishin is a ship that brings you joy and just serotonin production I implore you guys to choose this lane if you still want to enjoy Kaishin.
It’s by far the healthiest option and teaches you how to curate your own fandom experience.
Alternate Universes and You
I was in the Hannibal fandom for a while and I clearly remember the ‘Hannibal is not a Cannibal’ tag on AO3. I thought it was hilarious but I would never dare to make fun of it because that is a prime example of CURATING YOUR FANDOM EXPERIENCE.
Here are some examples on how you can start tagging:
Not Cousins AU
Kaito and Shinichi aren’t family
No Family Relation AU
Pre Kaishin reveal
Or just make a quick blurb of how you mean this drawing/fic to be perceived. Again, this is your experience and you get to make the space you want to make. It’s up to you to make/interact with the content that makes you most comfortable. Again, if you want to delve into AU’s then that is up to you and I think it’s a pretty good lane for those who just feel weird about the whole reveal.
Stepping Away
Your moral values are your own, people, and I am in no position or even want to judge them. If you feel uncomfortable about this now, see your love for Kaishin diminishing because of the reveal or just don’t see yourself shipping Kaishin in the future then you are more than capable of measuring your response and stepping away from the ship entirely for your own health.
Is it going to be sad? Yes, but they are fictional and I recommend having an idea of what you have in your life outside of fandom that makes you happy that you can focus on as you go through this. College, work, whatever hobbies you may have taken up–hell put all your eggs into another ship that you know also brings you joy!
Do not let this dictate your day or your month or your year. This is just fandom, you don’t have to make a big statement unless asked about it, you do not have to justify your decision to anybody, curate.your.fandom.experience.
I’m going to end this with a repeat of what I just said.
This is all fictional. We are playing in a fictional sandbox where we can all make whatever we want in any capacity and as long as it is tagged correctly then nobody’s lines have to be crossed. If you just started enjoying Kaishin, find out how you still want to enjoy it or step away. If you have shipped Kaishin for a while, do the same fucking thing! The east side of the fandom is having a field day with the movie, why can’t the west have some fun too?!
I’m going to ship Kaishin (however all my reblogs will be moved to my other blog for incest-y stuff and just other content people may not vibe with in general) and hell I might just join the Kaishin Big Bang for the hell of it because I have been shipping this ship since I was 15 years old and I’m about to be 30 so….I’m staying fucking seated cause you aren’t getting me out of this chair, Aoyama, you aren’t getting me to ship Aoko with anyone other an Akako so suck on that.
Be safe, be smart and curate y’all.

hello! idk if anyone has asked this already, but is it ok to redraw your valentine's town designs for sora and riku? valentine's day is coming up, and i'd really love to draw them!!! i think they're super cute :P and i'll be sure to give credit!
Aw dude of course!!! Please, any of my designs are freely up to be drawn. Just tag me so I can see it!! 🥰
Honestly I'm always so flattered whenever anybody draws any of my designs, it really makes my day! Also?? When u make self indulgent fun designs for urself, it makes every drawing a special treat lol. Each time it's (sniper TF2 voice) Just Like Christmas Morning and it gets stashed away in the dragon hoard. So thank you to everyone who ever draws any of them, I love it 🥺🥺💕

Remaking the trios (character-wise; sadly I can't draw)
Just thought I'd try me hand at tweaking the characters a bit!
Tumblr media
Destiny Island Trio
Sora--I'd probably make him the "happy on the outside, sad on the inside" protagonist. Riku was his first and only friend, and while Kairi helped to open him up, Sora was always worried about being abandoned, giving him a juxtaposition of having a goofy and light-hearted demeanor but a cautious and self-conscious personality; it's why he wanted to save Riku, but couldn't bring himself to be enveloped in darkness.
Kairi--SUPER protective, though not in a big sister way like Aqua; she's just a great friend. As a result, she inspires Sora to open his heart and make connections as well as preventing Riku from permanently submerging into darkness. She isn't pushy, but she stands her ground.
Riku--Essentially the complete opposite of (this) Sora: confident and adventurous. He has a bad habit of being reckless (albeit not annoyingly so), and is known for being fickle and occasionally moody, sometimes changing him from "cool" to "brash avenger". Essentially Sasuke Uchiha, but redeemed WAY earlier.
Tumblr media
Wayfinder Trio
Aqua--A bit less melodramatic, and a lot more sly, known for pushing her feelings aside and secretly helping others. She's super discreet and a great actor when she needs to be.
Terra--A lot more resigned to his fate, frequently shutting out Ventus and having serious talks with Aqua and Eraqus about controlling his darkness and making them promise to kill him if it gets out of hand. He's super protective of Ventus, though, and sees Vanitas as his personal enemy.
Ventus--A guy who just likes to have fun. He's not as self-conscious about rivaling Aqua and Terra, and he appreciates the training Eraqus gives him. It's because of his personality that Vanitas feels as though he's been forgotten.
Tumblr media
Organization XIII Trio
Roxas--Still a "broken doll," quickly integrating the idea that he has no true emotions or will, though he's fascinated by people he meets in other worlds.
Xion--More "rage against the dying light," a bit of a hothead who frequently challenges and battles Roxas to get him to feel something. Definitely anime rival vibes.
Axel--A chill guy who pretends to be an airhead. He uses it to gather information for Saix as well as to train Xion and Roxas. He's not often seen fighting, but he's pretty powerful. Though even beneath the subterfuge, he's just a chill guy.

Dense as a Brick Wall - Terra x Fem!Reader
Tumblr media
First off YEEEESSSSSSS! I NEED MORE DARK ROAD ASAP! Second, Terra is actually one of my favorite characters of the series so I was excited for this request! I admit I struggled a bit but I hope you like it and I’m sorry it took me so long.
~~~~~
               I can officially say today has started off wild, but I mean my version of wild—these keyblade wielders apparently find travelling to different worlds pretty normal. First thing in the morning, the trio of Aqua, Ven, and Terra all show up on my doorstep and insist I hang out with them for the day. When I finally relent, that’s when they break the news that we’re going off-world.
               So one insane trip later, we end up in this bright, sunshine world of Destiny Islands. It’s gorgeous with its tropical atmosphere and sparkling beach and it’s a shame I didn’t bring my bathing suit. The trio then takes me to the larger island where I meet way more people than I was prepared for. They all seem friendly enough and accept me pretty quickly; also we’re apparently not the only group to travel from another world.
               That’s when the inhabitants—Riku, Sora, Kairi, and Namine—announce an activity they’d come up with for the visitors: a photo scavenger hunt. The groups pair up quickly, leaving the four of us from the Land of Departure.
               “So how do you guys wanna split up?” Terra asks.
               “Oh, I know,” Aqua hums, wandering towards Namine. Once she returns, she presents four pieces of paper in her grasp. “Whoever draws the two with colored ends are partners. You first,” she says, offering the handful to me.
               Tugging on a strip, I find it colored red on the bottom. “Oh. Cool.”
               She turns to the man beside me. “Alright. Terra.”
               He picks a strip and my insides run with ice; they expect me to go on a scavenger hunt, alone, with the only person I’ve ever fallen so hard for.
               I don’t even know where to begin with Terra. He’s the biggest sweetheart and I’d have to be wearing fire-retardant pants if I said I never admired those muscles. I know he gets a lot of flak, but the guy can actually be pretty smart when it comes to strategy and situational awareness, though his social skills could use a little work. So, while I can say this about his physical build, it also unfortunately applies to his empathic understanding: he’s as dense as a brick wall.
               I’ve done everything just short of saying, “hey, you know what? I have an enormous crush on you.” Well, that and kiss him. I once even held his hand when we were wandering through town, but I think he mistook it for me trying not to get lost in the crowds. For the love of all that is good in existence, I cannot get him to take a hint! That and my dumb ass is too nervous to straight up confess.
               “Hey, are you okay with that?”
               Snapping back to the present, I look up at those beautiful blue eyes. Blood rushes into my ears, but I smile anyway. “Yeah. This’ll be a piece of cake.”
               He smiles back and I feel my self-awareness melt just a little, until I realize I might get lost staring if I don’t look away.
               We’re given a list of things to photograph and a deadline to meet back up on the small island and the teams start to go their separate ways. Only a few steps into our adventure, I look back at Aqua and Ven and my heart stops. A smirk sits upon her lips and pinched between her fingers are the remaining two strips of paper: they were all colored on the end. My brain begins screaming bloody murder.
               “Woah, hey!” A large hand beneath my arm pulls me to the side just in time to miss walking into one of those mail collection boxes. Face burning, I glance up at my concerned sort-of-hero. “Are you sure you’re okay? If you’re not feeling well, we can go home.”
               For the love of the gods, I cannot tell him what Aqua did, but she’s absolutely going to get it later—regardless of whether or not she can destroy me in a heartbeat. “No no! I’m fine. I just got distracted.”
               Dark brows furrow, still concerned. “Would rather be partners with someone else?”
               “NO!” Okay, I probably didn’t need to respond quite that quickly…or yell. A laugh escapes me in an attempt to regain my composure. “No, it’s okay. I promise. This is going to be fun.”
               A big grin crosses his lips and we set off, ignoring the fact this is a set up—or maybe not; who knows.
               There are two lists on the paper Kairi had given me: one of object and one of activities. Things such as the beach, something red, and a statue are on the list of objects, but on the other are things such as walking barefoot in the sand, going down the slide in the park, and shaking a stranger’s hand. The thing about the second list is that there has to be photo evidence of each person to get the points. Trailing through the sand and asking a random guy to shake hands with each of us is easy enough and we’ve been having a lot of fun, but poor Terra kind of got stuck in the slide and we lost a couple hours—but I got the evidence at least.
               “You sure you’re okay?” I ask for like the tenth time, stupidly fluttering eyelashes at him.
               My partner laughs sheepishly. “Yeah, I’m fine.” He’s such a good sport but oblivious as always. “I’m just relieved we didn’t break it.”
               “Yeah…I was kinda worried we were gonna have to call the fire department or something—or worse, our friends.”
               “I really don’t need another story Aqua’s not gonna let me live down,” he sighs. “What else is on the list?”
               Pulling the paper from my pocket, I scan over what’s not marked. “Well, there’s not much more we can do before time’s up…so I guess we head back and hope we see a dog, a sign that starts with the letter V, and a rubber duck—where the hell did they think we were gonna see a rubber duck?”
               “Does that count?” Out points his finger to the ocean where a giant, inflatable duck peacefully floats along.
               “I don’t think it’s made of rubber, but I’m gonna say yes,” I say, using Terra’s GummiPhone to snap a picture of the ridiculous sight.
               So off we go towards the smaller island on one of the rental row boats. For a while, we chat and amble about the beach—and I drop more ridiculous hints—until Terra asks, “Hey, wasn’t there something on the list about food?”
               “Um. Try a food neither of us has eaten.”
               “I don’t know about you, but I have no idea what that is.” From a crooked tree hangs a bright, yellow fruit.
               I laugh, following him towards the stairs leading up to the islet. “You wanna just start eating random fruit?”
               “Why not?”
               The young man scales along the curved tree until he successfully gets his hand on the star-shaped fruit and returns to sit next to me on the tree. The fruit is broken into two and I get a piece. It’s sweet, almost like a candy and super watery.
               “I may be regretting my choice,” Terra murmurs around a mouthful.
               “What? This is amazing.” I almost drool in my protest.
               “Too sweet.”
               “Ah, I forget you don’t like sweets.”
               Eyeing up his questionable prize, he ventures another bite.
               “You two are here ear—” Looking back reveals the Islanders. Both girls gasp and the guys just gape.
               “Hey guys,” I greet. “What’s up?” I take another bite.
               Riku is the first to break. “You two have no idea what that is, do you?” A glance is shared with no answer. “That’s a paopu.”
               When the only response is staring, Kairi hastily explains, “If two people share one, their destinies become intertwined!”
               “So says the legend,” adds Namine.
               Terra’s mouthful comes flying back out while I opt to choke on mine. While I’m busy hacking away, the rest of our friends arrive.
               “What’s going on here?” Aqua asks as Sora is patting my back.
               “According to these two, trying new foods means sharing destinies,” Riku explains, gesturing to the dropped leftovers.
               Ven is very poorly containing his laugh. “You guys ate a paopu fruit?”
               “We didn’t know what it was,” Terra retorts. It makes me feel somewhat better that his face is probably just as red as mine.
               “I told you about those,” Aqua retorts. “Remember? I based our wayfinders off them.”
               I eventually breathe fine again and everyone hangs out to share their pictures and just hang out. Xion and Roxas got the most points and win the game while Terra and I get the most teasing for the paopu and the slide. Still, the symbolic meaning of the fruit plagues my thoughts—it’s a nice thought to have Terra as part of my destiny. I’d probably squeal if it weren’t for my new friends sitting around. In my revelations, I can’t help beaming down at the pictures of my partner.
               It’s just as we’re all getting ready to head home that Aqua sighs, “It’s a shame that, even after I went through all the trouble to make sure they were partners and neither of them confessed they liked each other.”
               A second passes, and then another, but finally, Terra’s eyes widen as he realizes what I’ve known from the beginning. “You rigged the teams?!”
               Ven snarks, “She wasn’t exactly subtle.”
               My brain carefully scrutinizes the frantic behavior of the young man. “Wh—Bu—How—Why would you do that?!”
               “Didn’t you hear me? So you could tell her how you feel,” she states bluntly.
               Arms flail and, had anyone been within close proximity, who knows what kind of damage he’d deal. “How could you do that?! I’ve been dying all day trying to figure out how to tell her!”
               The analyzing brain blips. Wait…
               “It wasn’t really that much of a secret,” his blonde friend mutters, the flustered not hearing him.
               “All so you could get a few laughs picking on me?! And I still don’t even know how to tell her how much I like her!”
               A jolt ripples through me and my jaw falls open.
               “First of all,” Aqua starts. “I didn’t do it to pick on you. Second, it was Ven’s idea.”
               The accused adds, “He’s been driving me nuts over it.”
               “And third, I’m pretty sure you just confessed.” A finger points to me.
               His olive skin goes visibly pale, outrage dropping to instant horror. Those shocked eyes lock onto me; clearly he’d forgotten in his outburst that I was even here to begin with.
               With a strange sense of outward confidence, I close the gap between us. My heart is beating deafeningly in my ears as I approach but he doesn’t move even a little, watching me in stunned silence. Fists take hold of his shirt, pulling him down to my level as I stand on tiptoe.
               Raging in my gut are the butterflies that have been teasing me all day. I may be on fire right now, but there’s an ocean just over there—it’s fine. And sure, my partner is in a stupor but that doesn’t make my elation any less real. There are no words for how much I needed this.
               Leaning back, there’s a lingering taste of that paopu we’d split earlier. I can’t help the resulting smile though Terra looks absolutely bewildered.
               “I’ve been dying to do that for months,” I tell him.
               “Perhaps my efforts weren’t in vain after all,” giggles Aqua. She gets a raspberry from me.
               Terra, with an incredibly ludicrous question, grabs my attention again. “Did you just kiss me?”
               My eyes widen before I start laughing. “You really are as dense as a brick wall.”
               The shock leaves his face, replaced with a frown. “What’s that supposed to mean?”
               “She’s been flirting with you hardcore for as long as I can remember,” Ven tells him. “Everyone but you picked up on that.”
               “R-Really?” This time, he goes a little red.
               Slipping a hand into his, I reply, “Really.”
               The free hand meets his face. “Ugh, geeze I’m so dumb.”
               “That’s okay. You’re still cute.”
               “You’re not supposed to agree with me, you know.”
               “Whatever you say, sweetheart.”
               Then Aqua gets in another jab. “I think that’s a little unfair, Ven. It’s not like she picked up on his flirting either.”
               “Wait, what?!” Eye shoot up to Terra who gives me a smile that I’d die for.
               “Guess it’s not just me, huh.”
Just as a heads up, I wanted to add a disclaimer. This story is not necessarily canon to my AU's canon. I'm a long way off from these two getting to interact and I still have some things to think through. I also need to decide if Namine's backstory is going to stay the same or if I'm changing it slightly. So please bear with me and enjoy!
It was a warmer morning in Skyhold and for once there hadn't been a lot of snow. Riku and Ava were checking the Inquisition's mail when he heard the smaller girl chuckling a little to herself. He didn't know that he liked the smirk that filled her face.
"Did you get a love letter or something?" Riku inquired.
"Not at all. In fact, I think Namine's going to have quite the headache when she sees it."
"What is it?"
"Oh just another letter from Lord Odin in Kirkwall."
Riku rolled his eyes. Usually Namine handled all of the correspondence between the Inquisition and the noble class. After all, she had a knack for working with nobles, despite coming from a poor Antivan trading family herself. Still, this was the third letter this month from the man. Lea never liked to talk about Kirkwall even though he was a viscount there. Surely Namine would have told him if Odin had been reporting trouble, wouldn't she?
"He's been writing a lot recently. Is everything ok in Kirkwall?"
"As terrible as it's always been." Ava shook her head. "Listen, I have a job for you to do today."
"A job? But I promised Sora and Ephemer we'd-"
Suddenly Riku felt a very sharp point at his neck. He knew without looking that Ava had unleashed one of her daggers with the fancy waves on the hilt. She was good with a bow, but he had personally seen her be absolutely deadly with her daggers. The smirk that had been on her face once was now gone, but she still looked amused. He wondered what she looked like under that fox mask, and whether her eyes shone with good or ill intent.
"Ask Strelitzia to take you to the greenhouse and pick Namine a nice big bouquet of flowers." She instructed.
"You want me to…?"
The dagger pushed a little deeper into his throat. She hadn't broken skin yet, but the blade was really the only thing he could pay attention to.
"Pick the girl some flowers. I'm sure she would be grateful for them."
The bard removed her dagger and beamed at him. She was dangerous alright. He was relieved she was on their side, although there were days he had questioned even that. As she sauntered away with the letter from Lord Ordin, Riku rubbed the spot where the dagger had been just moments before. He felt a hand on his shoulder and turned to see none other than Sora himself.
"So, I guess we gotta take a rain check, huh little boss?"
"I told you to stop calling me that." Riku brushed the Qun's** hand off. "It's Riku."
"Force of habit. No more difficult to stop than Lea and his nicknames."
"I guess. So, what's going on with the ambassador? Ava certainly seems quite amused."
"Namine's got a letter from Lord Odin in Kirkwall. Again. So I'm supposed to go get flowers for her for some reason." Riku sighed. "You have a good idea about how women work; what's all this about?"
"Dunno, I'm not in on the war table conversations." Sora shook his head. "Hey, I've got an idea. I'll go visit Namine and see what's up. That way you can stop being shy and tell her how you feel."
Riku sputtered, trying to argue about the way he felt. They had gotten close, but it was out of a need, not a want, right? The sky was tearing apart and they still needed to find out about so many loose ends that hadn't been resolved yet. Besides, he had no idea how Namine even felt about him. It would make meetings at the war table much more awkward if he couldn't even look at the ambassador.
"I'll take your inability to speak as a yes then. Don't worry buddy, old Sora will figure out exactly what's going on with the woman of your dreams." Sora clapped him on the back.
Sora left behind a still sputtering Riku as he hurried over to the ambassador's door. Ava had just left and Sora took a moment to listen in at the door. He didn't know Namine as well as he probably should have; she was usually working on something at her desk while he was out with his chargers**. She seemed super sweet though, and harmless enough.
He did have to admit that his horns made it hard to actually get his ear to the door, but he managed to hear the faint sound of vellum being shredded while Namine muttered something. There was a movement. She must have been tossing the vellum into the trash. More steps- walking back no doubt. The room was silent now as far as he could tell, although knowing Namine, she was likely writing out some forced and overly polite response. It was how all nobles tended to write. He waited a moment and then knocked on the door.
"Come in." She replied.
"Hope I didn't catch you at a bad time or anything." Sora entered.
"No, just writing a response to a noble in Kirkwall. After that I have a few personal responses to send out. One of which is to my parents. They've been mailing me nonstop since your chargers swooped in and kidnapped my sister on her wedding day."
With a chuckle to himself, Sora crossed his arms over his chest. He recalled how Noctis had asked him for help to rescue his beloved Lunafreya from having to marry a man from some wealthy Antivan family. The chargers had been a little less….formal than they could have, running in while the ceremony was going. But the look of relief that crossed over the bride's face when she saw Noctis made it all worth it. They had even gotten a chantry** brother to marry them in a small but intimate ceremony a few days later.
"That's right; it was a lot of fun. Hard to believe it was only a couple of months ago." Sora smirked.
"No Sora, it wasn't fun. Swooping is bad."** Namine sighed. "It's been a headache just trying to reassure both sides that the other will come around eventually."
She paused.
"Although I'm happy for her. She smiles so much now, and I know that's because of Noctis and the other chargers."
"That's what we do. Brighten the world one smile at a time."
Namine held her tongue. Luna got off easy. Although her parents were fuming, her potential groom found someone to replace Luna rather quickly. The marriage was supposed to help the Montilyet family work their way back into being able to trade in Orlais again. If it hadn't been for that rival family… She breathed out a sigh. There was no way to turn back time. She just hoped when it came time for her own nuptials that she could avoid the worst.
Sora leaned in satisfaction on the table where she worked. Most of the tables here were quite sturdy- none as steady as the table closest to the commander's quarters, of course. But then, that table was hardly ever used for writing these days, it seemed. At least once he had heard some sort of magic being made between the templar commander and their apothecary- but he was just getting off on a tangent. Namine had eyed him as if to ask what he was there for.
"Why don't you give this Odin guy what he wants?" Sora asked, hoping to draw out what was in the letter and change the subject.
"Give him- Sora, this is politics. You can't just give people what they want at face value. There are usually strings attached. Things go wrong when you simply ask for what you want."
"Someone smuggling some ancient book out of Kirkwall again?"**
Namine tilted her head, unsure if she were supposed to understand what he was referring to. He waved off her confusion, looking over her desk. There, sitting on the top of a pile of papers was a letter written in very fine ink. There was a green wax seal on the envelope that held a picture of a lotus. The ink itself was also of a high quality. The letters didn't have an occasional blot from the way it came out of the pen. Someone had spent a lot of money on the supplies for this letter.
"Nevermind." Sora shook his head. "So, this one of your responses?"
One glance at the pile of papers told her exactly what he was referring to. She raced to cover them up, a slight blush on her face from embarrassment. He didn't need to know details of the Montilyet household. He had already learned of her parent's reaction to the scandal that was Luna's wedding. Seeing how everything happened there would likely cause extra precautions when it came her turn for matrimony. She was a caged bird with no hope of escape.
"Hey, sorry, I swear I was just trying to lighten the mood. I know you're frustrated about that Lord in Kirkwall." Sora softened his voice when he saw the way her face fell.
"If you must know, his name is Naveen. He lives in Tevinter and he's the son of a very prominent magister." Namine spoke just above a whisper.
"Is he helping the Inquisition?" Sora looked at her with a cocked eyebrow.
"Not….exactly." Namine responded.
She gripped the letter harder and her hands began to shake while she bit on her lower lip. It was just like her to ruin everything. Sora could likely understand everything now. It wasn't her place to tell about Naveen, and yet there they were. The Qun likely hadn't meant to see the letter, Namine hoped. Sora didn't seem to be the kind to snoop. Still, she hadn't told anyone about this yet and needed a chance to vent a little. The letters were coming more often and Naveen had been speaking more frankly of his heart in them. Whether that was sincere or flattery she had no idea. Namine quickly moved to the entrance. Before closing the solid door, she checked the hallway to see if anyone was coming.
"Hey, I didn't mean anything by it. Sorry, Namine." Sora pouted.
"No, please, it might be better this way." she wrung her hands together. "But anything we say can't leave this room."
"What's going on, Namine?"
"Promise me you won't laugh."
"On my honor as a Qunari"
Namine took a deep breath before sitting down and replacing the now crinkled up letter from Naveen. She wasn't looking at him, but instead at the hands she had neatly folded in her lap. Without realizing it, she was biting her lips again. Slowly, she looked up at Sora who was waiting patiently to hear what it was that she needed to get out of her system. Even if he couldn't tell Riku about the letter, he could at least assure his friend that Namine would be alright.
"Had you ever heard of the Montilyet family before you met me?"
"Well, not really, but I was also pretty busy doing jobs all over for the longest time." Sora shrugged. "Why?"
"Well, a long time ago, our family owned hundreds of naval ships. We protected merchants leaving and coming into Antivan waters. After a scandal, we lost nearly everything and had to settle being small scale Ferelden merchants. We get by, but I can tell my parents miss it." Namine explained. "Then when I was younger, I made some choices I'd rather not talk about before being invited to come join the inquisition."
"But…"
"But in all of this commotion trying to set my family up, I guess...I sort of lost who I am….and what I care for. Now there are important decisions to be made and I'm just expected to sit still and look pretty."
Sora nodded, understanding what it was she was trying to say. She continued on about how she had met Ava when she was younger and learned about the ways of the bard from her. Although Namine was slim on the details, she did mention how much of that training now helped her avoid having to pick up a weapon again. Still, all of that had come to naught, as she still had no leads as to where to find the contracts that would help regain their trade ability. There was a wistfulness that came from her voice; it wasn't about the trade at all, even though she hadn't said it straight out.
"I may not know what path will be best for you, but I do know this: you just keep on trying and you'll reach your goal."
"Do you really think so?" Namine asked.
"Of course!" Sora stood, placing a foot on the seat of his chair. "For the Inquisition!"
She looked at him with confusion. What on earth was he doing? Sora looked down at her in the hopes he could rally her to join him. When he looked down and saw that she didn't understand what he was doing, he held his hand out for her to pull him onto the chair next to him.
"For the Montilyets!"
He placed one foot from the chair to her table. She followed his lead and scrambled onto the table afterward. With more confidence, she repeated her own family name. There was something about Sora and his rallying cry that made her want to believe that she could restore the trade abilities before she would have to face her future.
"For Namine!" Sora raised a fist into the air.
She raised a fist as well, although she kept silent this time. A small smile played on her lips. Maybe there was hope after all. Odin would give up trying to marry off one of his daughters to Riku, and Namine would find a way for her family to trade again. There was hope, there was work to be done-
There were still papers covering her desk.
Subconsciously she had stepped back to get down from where she was standing. It was sort of silly how they were standing on the table, no matter how old and sturdy it might be. Besides, Sora never seemed to wear shirts, even into battle. Instead, he opted for the Qunari vitaar, which was a poison that was fatal if it touched anyone who hadn't been born into the Qun. He wasn't wearing any now, but Namine became aware of just how close they had been standing by the strong smell of the soap he applied to get it off afterward. He didn't want to risk Kairi touching it by accident.
It was the strangest thing. Somehow she felt like she had begun falling in slow motion. As she stepped back there had been a knock at the door. Something registered in her mind that someone had entered the room, and something dropped to the floor. She gave a yelp and closed her eyes, expecting to hit the floor.
But she never did.
Instead, the scent of firewood and smoke crossed her senses and she could feel a strong pair of arms around her, holding her up. She hadn't even fallen very far. When she opened her eyes, she saw the Inquisitor. Her cheeks went crimson and she looked back to Sora who was smirking like a cat.
"Did...I interrupt something?" Riku asked.
"No, not at all." Sora hopped off the table. He picked up the bouquet and turned around before taking a step out the door. "Saving these for anyone?"
"Actually, those are for Namine." Riku responded.
"Aww, what a kindly gesture. You'll have to let her go at some point if you want to give them to her. Unless you *wanted* to hold her this long. Here, I'll leave them here for you both to enjoy." Sora put them down and then headed down the hall a short distance so he could still hear what was happening.
Riku nearly dropped Namine upon hearing that, but after catching her again, he carefully let her down. She wasn't quite ready to stand on her own, so she placed a hand on his arm to steady herself.
So that was the result of so much violence. She thought, which caused her to only glow more red.
"H-here. Ava suggested I bring these over for you. They're from the greenhouse." Riku handed her the bouquet.
"Thank you. I-I'll have to send her my thanks as well."
There was silence for a moment.
"Is everything okay? Ava said you might get aggravated by that letter from Kirkwall." Riku inquired.
"Yeah, it was just another noble. With you being the leader of one of the most influential groups in Thedas**, it only makes sense that everyone wants you to marry their children, but I figured you'd want to focus on the rift for now."
He stared blankly at her as if he didn't quite understand what she had said. Namine looked away and bit her lip again. Maybe she should have just said something to him when she got the first letter. She had learned a lot from her past, but nothing like this was covered in her training. She wasn't sure if she even *should* be feeling anything in this particular moment.
"Namine I-"
Riku was interrupted when Kairi ran into the room, Sora attempting to stop her.
"I heard a scream. Is everything ok in here?"
"It's fine! Nothing going on!" Riku blushed.
"I was just trying to reach something and Riku caught my fall!"
Both spoke at the same time in a rushed voice that Kairi knew as being a lie, but with the way they were blushing and how Sora had been trying to stop her, she automatically understood what was going on to some extent. When she smirked the same way Sora had only a short time ago, the Inquisitor and the ambassador looked to realize that she hadn't let go of his arm since he put her down. Quickly they slid apart, blush laying heavily on their cheeks.
"Sure, sure." Kairi chuckled, now dragging Sora out of the room.
When they had closed the door behind them and walked a short way away, Kairi slipped her hand into Sora's.
"Let's sweeten the pot on our bet, shall we? An extra fifty gold goes to the winner if they get together before the empress's ball at the Winter Palace."
"My dear," Sora smiled as he squeezed her hand "I think you have a deal."
Okay, notes time!
So if you saw my picture for Sokai week, you'll have an idea of what Sora is supposed to look like. For those who haven't played Dragon Age, the Qun or Qunari is both a type of people who are born with horns on their heads (with a few very rare exceptions) and the religious lifestyle they lead. They're super interesting and I love learning about them.
Sora's chargers are his best friends/band of fighters. In this particular au it consists of Mulan, Noctis and the Chocobros.
The Chantry is the major church of the world, and it kind of controls the templars who keep the mages from letting demons possess them. Long story short, a lot of people have lost confidence in the Chantry in telling them the truth and doing the right thing.
For those of you who have played Dragon Age Origins, the 'swooping is bad' line should be very familiar to you. I laugh so hard at it with every playthrough that I was practically contractually obligated to include it.
Can't say too much about the book getting smuggled out of Kirkwall, as that goes into spoiler territory. But just know that the Qun tried asking for their book back and someone ended up dead. (in canon. Not sure what I'll be doing in the au yet, haha)
Thedas is the name for the world in Dragon Age.
I Love You Chapter 6
Warnings: More flashbacks/angst (this broke my heart)
Tumblr media
Sora walked to your room after he had his breakdown. He remembered getting you some of the stuff that he found. You were his little cupcake. But now, you were gone. And there was probably nothing he could do. He started to clean up your room and had little flashbacks of you.
~~~~
You were just starting to walk. Sora was proud of you for trying. He placed you in the living room and sat across from you.
“Okay, Cupcake. Try walking towards me. You can do it.” Sora held out his arms. You looked at him, slightly confused. You soon understood what he was trying to say and started to get up on your feet. You wobbled a bit and fell on your butt. But you were determined to walk. You got up again and took a couple steps forward before you fell again. This time, you started to cry.
“Aww, Cupcake. It’s okay. Don’t cry.” He picked you up and began to calm you down. Once you calmed down, you squirmed wanting to get down. Sora put you down and you were walking, not falling down this time. Sora was so proud! You walked towards the couch and grabbed your teddy bear.
~~~~
Sora remembered the look on your face when you started to cry. It broke his heart whenever he saw you cry. He opened your closet and saw you old baby mobile (the one he had to replace) and had another flashback.
~~~~
It was your first night home from the hospital. You woke up in the middle of the night, like any baby does, and started to cry. Sora heard you from the baby monitor and came in to help you go back to sleep. He checked your diaper. Nope! Still good. He went to the kitchen to make your bottle. He gave you your bottle and you drank it. After you drank it, Sora burped you but you were still crying.
“I wish you can talk so I can understand why you’re crying.” Sora whined. He took you to his room and laid down. You soon fell asleep. You just wanted to be with Sora.
“Oh. You just wanted to spend the night with me. Okay, Cupcake. I got you.” You and Sora soon fell asleep for the rest of the night.
~~~~
Sora went to turn off all the lights in your room, including your fairy lights. But before he could turn off the fairy lights he heard your voice.
DADDY! DON’T TURN OFF THE LIGHTS! I’M SCARED OF THE DARK!
Sora turned around but you weren’t there. He looked around your room but heard your voice again.
Daddy. I’m scared.
“Cupcake? Where are you?” He looked around but couldn’t see you.
Right here. In your heart.
Sora placed his hand over his heart. He let out a breathless laugh. You were okay. The next couple of days, he would hear and sometimes see you laughing and talking to him. One day, Sora went to the store to get some food. He saw you in the cart wanting your favorite sugar cereal. Normally he would say no, but considering your vulnerable state, he put in the cart and continued shopping. Later that night, he went to put you to bed when he had a flashback to your toddler bed.
~~~~
You were 3. Which meant that you got to sleep in an actual bed. Sora bought you a cute little princess bed. When you entered the room, you ran to the bed and jumped on it. He giggled and picked you up.
“No more (Y/n)’s jumping on the bed!” You laughed as Sora bounced you around. He laid you on the bed and told you a bedtime story. You fell asleep halfway through the story. Sora smiled and gave you a good night kiss.
~~~~
He put you to sleep but after an hour, you ran to Sora’s room to spend the night there. Sora was deep in sleep so he didn’t notice you. You snuggled close to him and went back to sleep.
~~~~
The next day, Riku and Kairi were in Radiant Garden, trying to find you. It was super hard considering they have no idea what you look like. They soon found Xemnas with you. Roxas was right. It was weird seeing an Organization member with a child. Also you weren’t crying or screaming for help.
“What if she’s actually his daughter? Or something else?” Kairi asked.
“Maybe. But we can’t be sure. We should ask her.” Riku said. They waited for Xemnas to leave and that’s when they approached you. They saw that you were drawing you and Xemnas with some chalk. And also how you wrote your name and your age afterwards.
“Hi. Are you here by yourself?” Kairi asked.
“Yeah. But my daddy’s coming right back.” Riku looked at the drawing and saw your name.
“Kairi, look.” he whispered. Kairi looked at the drawing and also saw your name.
“Is that Sora’s little one?” she asked.
“I think so.” Before they could ask you some more questions, you ran off to the fountain court.
“Wait, come back!” Kairi said. But you were gone. Kairi was about to go looking for you but Riku stopped her.
“If we go looking for her, then Organization members might come after us.”
“Right. We should head back to Master Yen Sid.”
“Agreed.” They headed back to Master Yen Sid to let them know the situation.
~~~~
Back at the tower, Kairi and Riku delivered the news. Sora was glad that you were okay. But he wanted to go find you. Master Yen Sid that he wasn’t allowed to go because he hasn’t been able to wield his keyblade in so long. Mickey agreed, and so did everyone else. Sora looked down and started to cry again. You wanted to help him, but you knew that if you did, the others will think that Sora is going crazy.
“I shall assign Roxas, Xion, Lea, and Isa to find (Y/N).” the master said. (i read that in his voice). Sora still looked down. Roxas came up to him and put his hand on Sora’s shoulder. Sora looked up.
“We’ll get her back. Don’t worry.”  Sora smiled slightly. Later that night, Sora was making dinner. You sat in the living room, hugging your knees to you chest. Sora came in, saying that dinner was ready and saw your sad face.
“Cupcake? What’s wrong?” he asked.
“I’m lost... I don’t know where I am. Or who I belong to..I’m scared.” You cried looking confused.
“Oh Cupcake. Come here.” Sora wrapped you in a hug. He knew you weren’t actually there. But he could feel your touch. It got him thinking, was the Organization hurting you? And were you loved? Probably not. This was the Organization after all. He didn’t know this, but the Organization planted a piece of Xemnas’ ‘heart’ inside of you.
~~~~
Back at the Castle That Never Was, You were playing in a very special room you were given that had all of your games, toys, and more. You were playing with some of your new dolls, when Xemnas told you that it was time to get ready for bed. You did as you were told and climbed into bed. Xemnas came in to read you your bedtime story. After the story, he tucked you in, gave you your good night kiss, and put on the music box.
~~~~
The next day, Sora took you to secluded part of the beach where people wouldn’t think that he’s going crazy.  You were building a sand castle in Sora’s imagination while he was watching the view, praying that the Organization wasn’t hurting you. He then saw Yuki walking along the beach towards the secret place. Sora ran up to him and grabbed him by the arm.
“Where is my daughter?!” Sora yelled. Yuki said nothing.
“Where is she? Please tell me.” Sora begged.
“Why does it matter? You lied to her! So she wanted to leave. Don’t worry we’re taking good care of her.” Yuki said. He then threw one of your old teddy bears in front of Sora’s feet. Sora had enough of this. He’s going to rescue you by himself whether his friends like it or not. He was able to create a somewhat realistic version of an Organization coat and went undercover to find you. Thankfully, the other members didn’t notice him. He walked through the halls of the castle and found you in your special room. You looked up.
“Hi. I’m (Y/N). What’s your name?” you asked. It broke his heart that you didn’t know who he was.
“Uh, My name is Saxor.” he said.
“That’s a cool name. Wanna play with me?”
“Sure. I’d love to.” The two of you played around together. He reminded you of Yuki a little bit, but better. You didn’t know why you liked him better. You just did. Pretty soon, it was time for him to go. He needed to get out of there before he got caught. You were sad that your playdate had to end but you knew that the Organization works a lot. You said okay and he left. When Sora got home, he started crying again. It was nice to know that they didn’t hurt you and that you were having fun with the toys you had. But he wanted his cupcake back. And he was going to get you back. One way or the other.
If all of your favorite shippings from different fandoms had a movie night together (yes, shippings, I think that's way more fun!), who would show up (there is no limit) and how would it play out?
Oh my gosh. This is a hard, but fun question. LOL. Though I’m worried the answer will end up more boring than you’re hoping for, but let’s hope not.
I’ll also probably only limit this to my top top ships, because I have way too many. Though there will still be a lot here! Also, let’s just assume that everyone will get along for some reason, even though some of them would have reason not to.
So, SoKai’s there (from Kingdom Hearts). Because of course they are. And while Sora and Kairi really are there to watch the movie--and cuddle, because they’ve earned it--Sora can’t help talking to everyone throughout and trying to get to know them, because he’s just a sociable person like that. And Kairi mostly joins in with that. But because of this, they probably have people telling them to shut up during it. Though RokuShi, Namiku, and probably NeShiki come to their defense.
Roxas and Xion (KH) are super into the movie, because they’re still kind of amazed at the existence of films in general. Since they were essentially babies in the Organization, who knew nothing about life. And while they know more now--like when Roxas had those false memories in the Virtual Twilight Town--they’re still amazed by the simple things.
Riku and Naminé (KH)... Naminé is drawing, of course. Probably things from the film. And Riku is by her side, just happy that she’s happy. But he (aside from Buffy) is probably the one person on edge, judging everyone because he doesn’t think some things are right about some of these people Lawlight.
Yes, Light and L (Death Note) are there... And they’re probably bored of the movie. It’s not clever enough for them. They’d much rather watch some murder investigation and try and figure it out--also, can I say what a miracle it is that L ventured out in the first place?--and this is when Riku begins to get uncomfortable and Buffy probably says something like, “Okay, if I hear one more thing about murder, some serious slayage is about to occur.”
So... Bangel (Buffy the Vampire Slayer). So, this is some happy-isa ending after Angel takes on Wolfram & Hart and doesn’t die. The curse is still a thing. But Buffy and Angel have decided to try and be together without it, since Buffy almost lost Angel. They’re happy to be together enjoying the movie, of course. And a lot of cuddling is happening. But not too much, because they can’t get too worked up. Because again: curse. Also, if they’re watching some crappy movie--which they probably are--Buffy pipes in every now and then to give the characters wittier lines than they actually had, and everyone actually appreciates her for that. Angel may also notice Naminé’s artwork, praise her for it, and begin drawing during the movie himself... He draws Buffy watching it, of course.
Jace and Clary from The Mortal Instruments. They’re doing more PDA than anyone... but still nothing too bad, that would anger most people. And Clary might have joined in on giving the characters better lines with Buffy. Buffy and Clary probably strike up a friendship. Jace is really the person annoying everyone during the film, because he can’t keep pointing out everyone’s stupid choices and the lack of logic... which is true, but come on my man.
Max and Logan from Dark Angel. So, bored with the movie--as I said above--L and Light begin trying to solve a case while everyone else is engrossed. Logan notices this and joins in as Eyes Only. He and L also become friends, when they realize how much they have in common... I want this to be a happy AU where Light isn’t Kira, or has been redeemed, but it’s probably not. And he’s now worrying that Logan could be a threat to him too, and probably plotting to kill him. Max somehow senses this and throws food at him, though she plays it subtle. Like, “Hey, stop making me waste good food to get you to stop glaring at my hubby.” Oh, and Max is making herself at home with all the food. Because our girl loves to eat, and to relax. She and L might get into a fight over the sweets, though. And our transgenic super-soldier girl would of course win.
Madoka and Homura from Madoka Magica. It’s probably at this point, that Homura also notices something is wrong with Light. And she wants to get Madoka away from this scene to protect her. Because of course she does. But Madoka turns her down. And for the most part, Homura will never do anything that Madoka doesn’t want her to do. Madoka probably is somewhere between bonding over drawing with Naminé and Angel, and asking if she can be friends with Buffy and Clary and try and say funny things, too. They agree, of course. So Homura is sandwiched between Madoka and all her new friends, and she really can’t complain about that at all.
Noctis and Luna from Final Fantasy XV are also snuggled together, and they write secret notes to each other during the whole thing. Because even though they’re now finally together in person, they’ve just sort of gotten used to communicating that way.
Zack and Aerith from Crisis Core are probably being disasters, who are trying to build a flower wagon while everyone else is watching a film. But, hey. That’s just them. Aerith also probably joins in on the ad-libbing the movie thing.
Meanwhile, Cloud and Tifa from Final Fantasy VII are really close to the screen--Cloud is in love with this movie--and Tifa is trying to help explain things to him. Why? Because On the Way to a Smile talks about how Cloud doesn’t even know some vegetables and fruits’ names, because he decided to try out for SOLDIER at a young age and then had his mind shattered because of Mako poisoning, trauma, etc. So... if they’re watching a movie about cooking or something, Cloud could seriously make a mistake like, “Oh, so they’re using sour cream for this baked good. I didn’t know you could do that. But I guess it makes sense.” Tifa - “No, Cloud. They’re using cream cheese.”
Neku and Shiki (The World Ends With You) are enjoying watching the movie close together. And Neku is quietly humming during a lot of the singing parts, which makes Shiki blush and her crush on Neku grow even stronger (he may even be singing to her). And no one cares, because Neku actually has a nice singing voice. During the film, Shiki might attempt to make clothes based on the main characters’ outfits, that everyone is then amazed by.
And maybe I’ll add Tidus and Yuna in from Final Fantasy X. Tidus is trying to convince Yuna to just have a good time with him and have fun watching the movie--and she wants to--but she also senses something is wrong. And is prepared to pull her pistols out to stop someone from doing someone heinous, or to perform a Sending if someone dies here... whichever comes first.
And what the heck, did I just write? LOL.
Some other pairings I love that weren’t featured here, because I didn’t know how to fit them in and this probably already has too many people: Zidane and Garnet from Final Fantasy IX, Percy and Annabeth from Percy Jackson, Will and Elizabeth from Pirates of the Caribbean, Raoul and Christine from Phantom of the Opera, Eren and Mikasa from Attack on Titan, Snow and Serah from Final Fantasy XIII, perhaps Clark and Lana from Smallville. And maybe even Yozora and Nameless Star from Verum Rex, even though them and Noctluna are cut from the same cloth, etc.:)
Thanks for such a fun ask!
#and I didn't proofread any of this crack because otherwise I might not have had the courage to post it#so sorry if there are any weird typos here or anything. or that I probably used the same words a million times#I maybe should have included terqua from kh...but tbh. I prefer sokai rokushi and namiku over them a lot. and I didn't want TOO much kh#also my feisty kairi probably warms up and snarks with the girls too#part of me wishes I had included joshyme. because I'm still stupidly attached to themfor some reason#but in a platonic way. but meh#in some au where death note and dark angel take place in the same universe l and eyes only would probably respect each other#though l might have a problem with eyes only being okay with criminals dying. though they try to avoid that at all costs#it's just that. like. if max is trying to be a subject in and they're being violent and would kill max if she didn't kill them first#both Logan and max would be okay with her killing the thug of course#and l probably would in self-defense too. but still#and max probably becomes close with her 'sisters' here too#buffy and max also bond over food#and sometimes I forget how much I love livi and nike from the world is still beautiful#if they were here nike would be eating all the food too#in another world Jon and Daenerys would have been on this list. if the show hadn't made me hate them#do better books#and with so many super-powered people here now I wonder who would win if they all decided to try and kill each other#Tenchi and ryoko and syaoran and sakura. and maybe even Edward and Bella should've been here too but oh well#oh. usagi and mamoru too
resolution (pt 1)
In honor of New Year’s and of all the joy Kingdom Heart’s has brought to me in 2019, I’m working on a SoRiKai fluff fic of them spending New Year’s together! It’s meant to have three parts, one from each kid’s POV, but in case I don’t get to finishing and posting the whole thing quite on time I thought I’d go ahead and share this first part! It’s pretty much just fluff and silliness but I feel like that’s perfect for our Destiny Trio being back together on New Years. I’m hoping to post the full fic on ao3 tomorrow or maybe the 2nd at latest, but no promises because I’m terrible at deadlines.
-
Sora was giddy as he sat down in Riku’s living room with him and Kairi, gathered around the low coffee table with crossed legs on the floor. Kairi opened up the box of the board game she had brought, and Sora helped her set it up as Riku got up and wandered to the kitchen. By the time they’d finished unfolding the board, arranging the pieces, and sorting the cards, Riku had come back with three steaming mugs of hot chocolate, carrying two in one hand and one in the other. He handed one to Sora and one to Kairi before sitting back down with his own.
Sora smiled and wrapped his hands around the warm mug, relishing the sweet smell of the chocolate. He took a too-large sip too soon, almost burning the edge of his tongue, but it was worth the risk to satisfy his impatience. Riku and Kairi chuckled and shook their heads at him, Kairi setting her own mug down to let it cool first and Riku blowing gently on his.
“Alright,” Kairi began, grinning brightly as she began shuffling the main deck of cards. “You guys will love this game.” She said it very casually, but there was an underlying certainty to it, and since she had a pretty good idea what her boys liked, she was probably right. She started dealing the cards, one pile for each of them and one for herself.
“Don’t look at them now - we’ll draw them when we need them.”
Sora watched as she distributed all the cards, straightening his pile without overturning any once she was done. Kairi sat back and explained the rules of the game, and Sora’s mind drifted a little bit even though he was trying to pay attention - it was just a lot of information at once. He learned better by playing, anyway, so he wasn’t worried.
He ended up being terrible at it, though. The competition was really between Riku and Kairi, and it was fierce. Riku was engaging in some light-hearted trash talk every time he got an advantage, and Kairi was less overtly aggressive, but she kept grinning smugly at him sideways whenever she got ahead. Sora lagged behind both of them the whole game with little hope of catching up, but he didn’t really care much because it was just so much fun watching them race to the finish, getting increasingly excited with each turn.
In the end, Riku reached the final square first, but the card he drew set him back two, giving Kairi the opportunity to swoop in and claim the victory. Her eyes gleamed as she slammed her piece on the winning square and jumped up, throwing the remainder on her cards on the board. “YES!” she cried, pumping her fists in the air and giggling.
Riku laughed, too, playfully shoving her. “Don’t be a sore winner.”
Kairi spun around in an impromptu victory dance. “You’re just grumpy because you lost!”
“Oh yeah?” Riku pushed her again, this time just enough that she fell over into a pile of pillows that they’d thrown in front of the couch. She landed on the soft bed of cushions, still giggling, but her laughter turned into a squeal when Riku scooted closer and started tickling her sides.
Kairi kicked softly at Riku’s arm and chest, but she’d have to fight a lot harder if she wanted to discourage him. “Stopppppp!” she whined through her laughter. “So-Sora, help!”
Sora grinned and walked on his knees around the table, coming to Kairi’s side. “Good call, Kairi. Tickling you is a two man job!”
Kairi shrieked in pretend protest as the boys ganged up on her, shaking with laughter until the tickling became too tiring to be fun anymore. “Okay, stop for real now,” she breathed through a laugh, and Sora and Riku both stilled and sat back from her immediately, still smirking as she got the last of her giggles out and wiped her eyes. “You guys are the worst,” she complained, punching them both gently in the arm.
Sora laughed and kissed her on the cheek. “You love us.”
Kairi shook her head, but she was still smiling too much to fool anybody. She turned around to the couch and where her phone was resting and checked the time. “It’s almost midnight.” She grinned at Riku and then at Sora, her eyes twinkling.
Riku smirked, glancing between her and Sora. “So who gets to kiss who first?”
Sora blushed, but Kairi had an answer immediately. “I want to kiss you both at the same time!”
Riku frowned thoughtfully and took a sip of his cocoa. “How’s that going to work?”
“We could both kiss her on the cheek?” Sora suggested.
Kairi shook her head. “Nah, we’ll just mash our faces together. It’ll be super romantic.”
Riku snorted lightly, but neither he nor Sora offered any objections. The boys set their cocoa down as Kairi set up an audible countdown on her phone and they all three scooted closer to each other, knees brushing as they formed a rough circle and leaned in close.
“Ten, nine, eight,” the phone counted. The kids looked around at each other, all giggling.
“Seven, six, five, four.” Kairi grabbed Sora and Riku each by the hand. The boys glanced at each other and joined their hands as well.
“Three, two, one.”
All three leaned in at once, smushing their cheeks together as their lips met in the center. Sora bumped his forehead against Kairi’s, making them both giggle even more, but the three of them mostly succeeded in kissing each other on the corners of their mouths.
Despite their best efforts, though, it only lasted for a second before they all dissolved into laughter and backed away. Kairi flopped back against the couch, shaking with laughs so hard she had to hold her side. “Well, that sort of worked.”
Riku chuckled dryly and leaned back, folding up a knee to rest his arm on top of it. “It’s not the most effective way. Or the most dignified.”
Sora rocked back and forth a little, feeling too flustered and silly to sit still. At the same time, he felt too tired to do anything with all that energy. He let out a big yawn, stretching his arms over his head.
Riku and Kairi had shifted closer to each other, holding hands with their backs against the couch, and from what Sora had caught of that conversation it sounded like they were deciding on another board game to play, but when Sora yawned they both looked at him and smiled with light exasperation.
“Well,” Kairi sighed. “I guess we’d better get to bed before somebody gets cranky on us.”
Sora made a face that didn’t really help his defense, but he got up to go to bed anyway. Riku and Kairi both stood up with him automatically, but Sora waved his hand. “You guys play whatever game you were talking about, and you can join me later.”
Kairi frowned, looking between Riku and Sora like she was conflicted. Then she figured something out, bouncing on her heels. “How about this? We’ll come tuck you in and say goodnight, and then we’ll play our game.”
Riku rolled his eyes. “How old is Sora, five? Are we his parents?”
But Sora grinned and grabbed them each by the hand. “Yeah, Kairi’s right! You have to kiss me goodnight or I won’t be able to sleep.”
Riku gave a big sigh for show as Kairi and Sora drug him by hand to his room. Sora was, of course, already in his pajamas, so he just climbed into the bed and scooted down to the end, leaving room for Kairi in the middle and Riku on the other side.
Kairi pulled the covers up to Sora’s chin and kissed his forehead. “Sleep tight, you big baby. I love you.”
Sora squeezed her hand and murmured ‘love you, too,’ before she pulled away to make room for Riku.
Riku kissed him almost exactly where Kairi had. “Love you, Sora. Happy New Year.”
Sora tried to reply, but it was drowned out by a yawn. Kairi and Riku laughed at him, and they turned off the light as they left the room, letting the door remain cracked open.
Sora fell asleep to the sound of them setting up their next board game, laughing and joking as they played. About an hour later he was woken by them both climbing into bed beside him, snuggling up close and falling asleep.
KH OC Week Day 7: After the Battle
@khoc-week
“Are you guys done packing yet?” Harmonia asked as she climbed down the stairs. She looked at the now barren walls box-covered floor. Their house had never looked this empty.
“Pretty much,” their dad replied from another room. He walked into the room with one more box and Coda following close behind.
“Aaaaah, I can’t wait to see the others!” Coda cheered, clenching his fists in excitement. “And they live on an island too. We can finally go to the beach whenever we want,” he pointed out.
Between laughs, Harmonia teased, “Couldn’t we do that before with our magic?” Both men laughed too.
“But things will be different now,” Andante said, putting his hands on his hips as he gazed over the mess of boxes and bags.
“Hey, Dad, are you sure you want to leave?” Coda inquired. Harmonia and Coda watched as the man let out a sigh.
“I’ll definitely miss this place, but if Ni is going to stay on the islands,” he started, turning to face them. “Then we might as well stay with her. No more separating the family.”
“Yeah, from now on, it’s always gonna be the three of us!” Coda declared proudly.
“You mean four,” Harmonia immediately corrected him. Right, Mom? I know you’re still with us. Her brown eyes drifted to a clock. “Well, we’d better hurry or else we’ll miss it,” she told them, making her way to the back door. As they stepped outside, a cool breeze blew against them. Harmonia took in as much of the forest as she could since it was probably the last time she would see it for a while. Small twigs snapped beneath their feet, and birds began to sing in the trees. The surrounding area was still dark, but the sky was turning from a pitch black to gray with every passing minute.
The trio talked as they made their way to the top of the cliff. Harmonia and Coda had been talking about the adventures they had leading up to the final battle against Xehanort. She listened as Coda talked about the worlds he visited with Sora, and he seemed completely excited to talk about the toy box world. A slight bit of envy tugged at Harmonia as the only worlds she visited with Riku was Radient Garden and the Realm of Darkness.
At last, they reached the top of the cliff. Harmonia looked out at the vast ocean before them, and she let out a shaky breath.
“Is something wrong?” she heard their dad ask.
Shaking her head, she answered, “No, I just can’t believe this is really happening,” in a soft voice.
“So where do we look cause I’m starting to get a little nauseous,” Coda nervously laughed.
“I thought you said you got over your fear of heights,” she pointed out, raising an eyebrow.
Rubbing the back of his head, her brother replied, “I might’ve been wrong.” The three of them laughed before Harmonia motioned for them to look to their right. As if on cue, the sun began to rise above the ocean. A soft, golden light glittered against the water and the clouds. Faint stars shined above them.
“So this is what you got up early for every morning,” Andante marveled at the sight. Harmonia could see a wide grin on his face.
“Yeah, this is what I came to watch,” the girl answered, keeping her eyes on the view.
“Wow, we should’ve been doing this a long time ago,” Coda gasped in awe, his fear now visibly forgotten.
“I don’t think I’ve ever seen the sunrise like this before,” Harmonia whispered, smiling as she took it all in. Today’s sunrise was something else. Maybe it was simply how nicely Northpointe’s scenery complimented the shining, golden colors. Or maybe it was because they were all seeing the sunrise together for the first time.
After a few minutes, the sun was completely visible over the ocean. They had been sitting at the edge, laughing and talking at the stories they had to tell each other.
With a sigh, Harmonia stood up and said, “All right, I think it’s time,” while stretching her arms.
“Yeah. Dad, do you wanna start?” Coda offered. Both of them looked at the man in anticipation.
“I don’t see why not.” Andante stood up and looked up at the sky. “Dulce, if you can hear me, we’re all okay now,” he spoke softy. “But, we’re leaving Northpointe.”
“We’re going to the islands with the others,” Coda added, letting his deep, blue eyes settle on the sky as well.
“We’re leaving together this time,” Harmonia spoke up, following Andante and Coda.
“I know, more than anything now, that this is what you want,” Andante continued to speak. Harmonia flinched a little bit as she felt their dad put an arm around them, but she soon settled into his embrace. Coda shot her a smile that she gladly returned as they listened to their dad speak. “Dulce, we all love you, and we’re all so thankful to know that you’ve always been with us and will continue to to be with us,” the man smiled.
“We were never alone, were we, Mom?” Coda asked. “You were watching over us for so long now.”
“Thank you for everything you’ve done for us,” Harmonia whispered. As the three if them began to make their descent back down the cliff, they took on last glance at the sunrise. They looked at each other. Without another moment wasted, Coda, Harmonia, and Andante wrapped each other in a tight hug. This part of their lives was finally over. No more fighting, no more secrets.
Aaaaaaand that’s the end! This was my first time participating in OC week, and I’m super glad I did. It was tiring making a drawing for each prompt of the day, but I never really got art fatigue throughout it. Thank you to everyone who decided to check out the fam here, it really means a lot to me. And congratulations to everyone else who participated. It was really fun reading about the other OCs out there. If you want to read everything, I have a story on Wattpad (though I haven’t updated in a little while, but I plan to start it up again and rewrite some parts) that acts as the first book in their story. My username is the same over there and I might consider posting on other sites if anyone has any recommendations. Again, thank you all so much for this week <3
Go on then, Sokai.
😍
who hogs the duvet sora, no question!!
who texts/rings to check how their day is going kairi is usually the one to text/ring first but that’s only because sora forgets easily and can barely use his phone
who’s the most creative when it comes to gifts oooh i think they both have the potential to give creative gifts!! kairi is creative in the way of crafting special charms for him with thalassa shells and other craft items (and she would get aqua’s help to imbue them with special magic/enchantments too)! and sora is creative in the way of planning fun trips and surprises for her :) he would want to take her to see the lanterns at the kingdom of corona, and finally fly together with her in neverland!
who gets up first in the morning kairi. sora sleeps in until at least noon.
who suggests new things in bed lmao so awkward because they’re kiddies :( they’re too pure to answer this.
who cries at movies lol both, they’re both saps.
who gives unprompted massages awww, sora!!
who fusses over the other when they’re sick have you seen them? they’re both protective af of each other. both.
who gets jealous easiest i feel like neither of them would get super jealous… maybe kairi would get a bit jealous because sora hangs out with a lot of other princesses.
who has the most embarrassing taste in music kairi is definitely into sappy music so her.
who collects something unusual i feel like sora would be the type to collect something weird from each world he travels to. like a weird-shaped rock or something lmao.
who takes the longest to get ready kairi because sora just throws on whatever clothes are lying around and he’s good to go.
who is the most tidy and organised lol kairi - have you seen sora’s room?
who gets most excited about the holidays both - these pure angels love christmas and halloween the most.
who is the big spoon/little spoon kairi loves being the little spoon.
who gets most competitive when playing games and/or sports sora, especially with riku.
who starts the most arguments i can’t really imagine them arguing a lot but i feel like sora would probably do stupid things unintentionally sometimes and kairi would eventually get annoyed with him. ooh and she would also get really annoyed with his self-sacrificial tendencies. she wants him to look after himself!!
who suggests that they buy a pet kairi’s an unofficial disney princess and she wants a pet. give her one!!
what couple traditions they have we see in kh1 that they already have a tradition of watching the sunset together. they continue this tradition. it means a lot more to them now because they hardly get the chance to spend time together. they always watch it together back on the islands, on the paopu tree because that’s the special place where their relationship together started.they also make it a tradition to visit radiant garden every once in a while and visit the places kairi remembers from her childhood.
what tv shows they watch together oooh, they would definitely watch cartoons together! fantasy shows or shows about superheroes and pirates.
what other couple they hang out with roxas and xion for sure. i don’t really ship them but they would definitely hang around riku and namine as well.
how they spend time together as a couple napping and being lazy!! i headcanon that once everything is over, these two spend their days together back on destiny islands just napping and being as lazy as they want to. later on, i could see them finally travelling the worlds together with riku! sora would also teach her how to drive the gummi ship.
who made the first move well technically sora did by initiating the paopu fruit drawing!
who brings flowers home sora would do this because he’s a big sap and he knows kairi loves flowers.
who is the best cook before kh3, i would say kairi but sora’s grown some skills after working with remy. sora would surprise her in the kitchen for sure.
*SLAMS HANDS DOWN ON TABLE* THREES A CROWD FOR THE FIC THING
Well, we can tell which story of mine SLS likes xD
Everything under the cut so I don’t elongate everyone’s dashboards.
1: What inspired you to write the fic this way?
Well, I figured it’d be kind of a short story, so I figured small snippets of what was going in the story would help a lot.
2: What scene did you first put down?
I believe it was the scene where Sora walked into Lea’s room and kissed him.
3: What’s your favorite line of narration?
They made the decision to wait until after everyone left for their missions after Kairi (though probably on purpose, though she swears it was completely on accident as her dark blue almost amethyst eyes shine brightly) walked in on them. -- Chapter 4.
4: What’s your favorite line of dialogue?
 “You’re so beautiful” he said, looking down at the face he thought he’d never see again. “I can’t believe you’re here.”
 “Stop, you’re making me blush,” Roxas laughed, and his face grew a darker shade of scarlet. Roxas reached up to touch Lea once again.
 “I’m not sure what I like more; you with your tattoos or you without them.” he commented, cupping either side of Lea’sneck with his hands and running his thumbs where the purple teardrops once resided.
 “Maybe I’ll get them tattooed. Or just draw them in when you want me to,” Lea said turning to press a kiss to Roxas’ hand.--chapter 5
5: What part was hardest to write?
Oh goodness, the threesome between Lea, Sora and Riku. I’m not very good at writing smut as it is and I wanted to do this justice.
6: What makes this fic special or different from all your other fics?
I guess the fact that it just kind of happened. We were discussing a scene in the KH3 trailers and I was like ‘what if Roxas could control Sora’s body?’
7: Where did the title come from?
I don’t remember. I think I figured because technically Sora and Roxas are two separate people, sharing one body, it’s technically a threesome? So three’s a crowd. xD
8: Did any real people or events inspire any part of it?
Nope. Just some fun spitballing between me and my friends.
9: Were there any alternate versions of this fic?
Probably not? It’d be interesting to visit Riku and Sora’s POVs though.
10: Why did you choose this pairing for this particular story?
Well, I love Akuroku and Soriku and I figured why not merge them all together?
11: What do you like best about this fic?
Oh man, the last chapter is my all time favorite chapter. Just because I think it’s one of my best works.
12: What do you like least about this fic?
The smut in chapter 4. I just can’t write threesome.
13: What music did you listen to, if any, to get in the mood for writing this story?
Or if you didn’t listen to anything, what do you think readers should listen to to accompany us while reading?
I listened to a lot of music when I wrote this since I have a spotify library of all my favorite songs. As far as music goes, just anything about threesomes.
14: Is there anything you wanted readers to learn from reading this fic?
Crackfics can be fun to write when inspiration hits and it won’t leave you alone.
15: What did you learn from writing this fic?
That the Kingdom Hearts fandom is super horny. haha. (well the 18 + part of the fandom is)
Ok so just a heads up, I just finished Kingdom Hearts 3. It was about 4 ish hours of yelling, screaming, tears (happy and sad, and really really mixed) annnnnd confusion. Like woah, what a ride. I will be posting/reblogging spoilers too...it’ll be under “KH3 spoilers”, for those who want to block it. Because heck there are some THINGS I wanna draw. Those of you who are still playing through, good luck! It’s a treat!! As for me, some general thoughts, questions and semi theories under the cut
(almost all contain spoilers below this point so, beware):
- Ok FIRST of all....wow. Gotta say the music is PHENOMINAL. Yoko Shimomura just reaaaally outdid herself here!! As one who’s listened to the soundtrack of kingdom hearts over and over, I recognized so many theme songs and key songs interwoven into the story to complete it to such a wonderful level. Not to mention, I got chills over just some reorchestrations, like wowwwwww...
- Donald is over powered as FREAK, gosh O.o;;;; Also, might I mention he’s ALOT better at healing in this game X’’’’D
- GRAPHICS. REALLY GOOD GRAPHICS. I wish I had a screenshot feature on the tv...I’ll have to look up scenes later, because wow this game is so pretty.
- Every part with Sora using the power of waking is so cool. I’m still super duper confused on the....mechanics of it (especially regarding Sora’s fate) but regardless, getting to save your friends through all the worlds was REALLY fun. I wish they could like. Join you as you rescue them. Stampede the enemy. With friendship.
- Sora’s scream of emotional anguish on it’s own made me wanna cry. Same for Xion. Goodness the voice acting, y’all are killing me...
_ Riiiiiikuuuuu...I love him so much. He’s a good friend, and having to fight his younger self/replica, it’s so clear how far he’s come!! I pointed out that’s what he was like in the first game to my sister, and she’s like “?????? really????” I love this disaster child. I’m sure it’s embarrassing seeing your past self, but also harsh having your past mistakes thrown in your face...anyway, love Riku. Always. He’s a good egg.
- Kairi..........deserved better DX I was REALLY hoping I could play her at least for a little...! But nooooo...at least Aqua was briefly playable?? That was really cool. I just wish...more was done with Kairi. That she had more of a presence through the whole game, like RIku did. Not just the damsel in distress at the end...she did help Sora alot in her own ways I’m just...MAN I feel this could’ve been done better...
- I LOVED getting some closure on a majority of the “villains” of the game. I liked them all. I do wish I knew what actually happened to Vanitas...? Where’d he go?? WHat the...also Repliku’s sacrifice ;;A;; that was really cool. But can’t they just make another replica for him?? Also was Larxene referencing Marly???????? Xemnas’s ending was probably one of my favorites.
- TERRA COMING BACK WAS FREAKING COOL AAAAAAA--- the wayfinder trio was so terribly tragic, I’m so glad they can be happy again...
- ALSO SCREAMING ALOT FOR SEASALT TRIO, GOODNESS FINALLY FINALLYYYYYYYYYYY *sobs*
- Axel actually having a reason for his weird face tattoos was really cool. Because this poor man is DEFINATELY CRYING NOW aaaaaaaa, I’m so glad for Isa, I cryyyyy...also who the heck was the girl they were talking about?????? I thought it was Xion but I was obviously wrong......I’m so confused, Square. Nomura. Answer me. Who is she. Anyway happy platonic AkuSaiRokuShi does me so much joy, my skin is clear, 10 years added to my life, blesssss
- ALSO “The final World” was really freaking cool and trippy but pretty. Also I know barely anything about KHX...who is the cat with a purse again and why is he in KH purgatory??? X’’’D him reuniting with Ven was really cute...ANYWAY. I collected way more Sora’s than I should, it kicked me out when I gathered 333. X’’’D but hey I got more maximum health! Which saved my butt constantly in the final battles O.o  finding Namine there was really sweet...but who were the other stars?? Who was the other voice? Was that Marly’s sister or...???? Probably has something to do with KHX again and I got lost, but I was so interested...who WERE these hearts????
- I wish I got to explore that last kingdomy place I forgot the name of more...it was SO pretty before Xehanort blew the whole dang thing up. Also I’m STILL very confused on his motives?? Why do you want to like...darkness everything up to make a new light world??? What???? Master Eraqus popping up again made me cry...especially his apologies to his kids apprentices. Also helping his friend pass on. Gosh dang. R I P, both of you.
- The epilogue was wonderful! Just domestic stuff showing everyone is back and well!! I ADORE Xion’s new outfit, I need to gather references...Isa too. ANd Axel.....
-Well...almost everyone made it back. Sora just...didn’t make it then?? What??? Poor Kairi...I had a FEELING he’d “die” in some way. It’s open ended so he COULD come back but I’m just confused where did he gooo????;;A;; bring my Sonshine back....
- NAMINE IS BACK YESSSSS she’s so pretty!! ALSO RIKU/NAMI GETTING SOME SORT OF CONTENT AAAA YES *THROWS SELF INTO THE SUN* platonic or romantic i don’t care that was a cute scene!!!!!!
- Overall it all tied together really well, but also it’s...very obvious there will be more. Like...Xigbar as Luxu? ...Who is Luxu???? More KHX stuff??? ALSO WHAT’S IN THE BLACK BOX Y’ALL ARE KILLING ME SQUARE I’M SO LOST
- Also, does Yazora actually have a role to play then?? Why was he in the secret movie? Where is Sora? I thought he was in the world that never was but it also MIGHT be TWEWY’s Shibuya???? Whaaaat? And Riku’s...somewhere...too?? That tidbit gave me way more questions than answers what the heck Nomura?? X’D I mean I wouldn’t mind, he is very pretty?? But I thought it was just a toy story joke?? What in the hap is heckening...
- OH ALSO EPHEMERA POPPING UP AND HELPING WITH ALL THE PAST KEYBLADE WIELDERS WAS RAD I KNOW THOSE TINY BITS ABOUT KHX SO THAT WAS REALLY DANG COOL
- In the end I really really loved this game. My favorite worlds are probably Corona, Toy Box, and SanFranSokyo, man, those were so good. I’ll probably research KHX a bit, because alot of the ending made little sense to me...but for the characters really important to me, they have concluded so that’s good. Well I mean except for Sora. But I’m pretty sure he’ll come back...somehow...
A++++ game Square, exceeded my expectations in many ways, some minor complaints (pacing, Frozen world in general...) and major confusion, but overall I am happy. I loved this adventure, and I’m satisfied with the conclusion ;v;
Stars for Lea
one word prompts! | accepting
47. — stars
“Man, the stars are weird here,” Lea notes to no one in particular, draped casually in the grass. They are. They don’t move really, stay in one place when it’s night in this unchanging, timeless place, and the sky itself kind of looks like an abstract painting someone did. A five year old, probably. With his fingers and a lot of determination. “I can’t even see a single constellation.”
“I didn’t know you knew about those,” Kairi says from behind him, dropping onto the grass beside him and passing him a wrapped sandwich. Merlin is not the best cook, and Lea’s still used to not eating at all (Nobodies don’t need to), so Kairi’s had to make sure he eats --- she’s not much better of a cook, but she knows how to make sandwiches an other basics so there’s at least that. Lea sits up, tugging the parcel open, and takes a big bite of his dinner. Mm, chicken salad. “I mean...you don’t seem the type.”
Lea swallows, raising his eyebrows at her. “What type do I seem, then?” He asks, giving her a look. Apologies aside, they have been getting along a lot better, and Lea already considers her a friend. He hopes she feels the same.
Kairi shrugs. “You remind me of Sora,” she says, and then stops, turning and waving her hands a little. “Not--- not, like--- okay, sometimes personality-wise,” she admits. “But, like, school-wise. Sora’s not as dumb as people think he is, but he just has a hard time paying attention and getting things right on the first try, so...a lot of people give him a hard time for it. But he’s smart! He’s just...” She bites her lip. “...he’s the type of guy who draws all over his notes because he’s having adventures in his head, and still manages to catch half the lecture. But just half of it, whatever half was interesting. You know?”
“...wow,” Lea says, laughing and waving his sandwich at her. “Sounds like he and I do have a lot in common! That was me, too, back in high school.” He pauses, groaning. “That I...never finished. ‘Cause Nobody and all. Oh, god, I never finished high school.”
Kairi snorts. “Well, you and Sora and Riku can have make up lessons together,” she says primly. “They did miss a year, after all.” She laughs, then and shakes her head, taking a bite out of her own sandwich. “Sora always used to copy my notes when we were studying, you know. I’m good at notes.” She shrugs. “But anyway, my point stands--- you don’t really seem the type to know much about science or math or stuff like that. It wouldn’t be interesting enough.”
“Well, yeah,” Lea agrees with a laugh. “You got it in one. Science was fun when it was, like, playing around with chemicals and shit? Though I’m kinda less into that now, haha...a-anyway, yeah, if it was boring, I was terrible at it.” He shrugs, smiling faintly. “But...I had help. And that help was super into astronomy, so I picked it all up from him.”
Kairi tilts her head at him a moment, and then her lips part in understanding as her eyes soften. “Saix?” She asks. “No, you said...Isa?”
“...yeah,” Lea murmurs, letting himself fall back onto the grass. “Isa. He was my study partner and lab partner ‘cause he got how I worked, and if it weren’t for him, I’d never have passed. He...we would sit on our roofs at night--- we lived next door, y’know, and our windows faced each other, so we could just climb into each other’s room any time we anted---  and we’d sit out there, and he’d show me all the constellations. He had a telescope his mom got him for his birthday, and, know, it was...” He swallows. “It was nice. Who knew the stars were other worlds, back then...? We sure didn’t. We were just kids...”
“So were we,” Kairi muses quietly. “Three dumb kids who were building a raft to see other worlds, but who never really thought about what it might mean to do that. Never really thought about what would happen if we did. But here I am and here you are.” She lies back next to him, watching his freckled face, picturing the upside down tears on it for a moment before trying to imagine him as her age. “We’ll all go home, Lea. Don’t worry. And you two will get to look at the stars together again.”
Lea turns to look at her, and smiles, and Kairi is even more sure it’s Sora who he reminds her of. “Yeah,” he says. “We will. I got that memorized.”
