one thing they can both agree on is that they do enjoy a gun show

i told you guys i had more thoughts about turtles watching star trek, like the funniest way to come out to your brother

something so endearing about 03 turtles is the way they wordlessly understand each other

(no i dont mean this as him literally watching 9 different episodes of voyager at once, it was just a more fun way of representing his thoughts lmao, they have so many tvs for some reason might as well use them)

They're dumbasses, your honor. Like, at this moment, neither of them actually believe they're sibling. (Mikey and Leo are dead set on it but these two are skeptical.) Yet they spend two minutes alone and devolve into sibling bickering. something i had not planned on when i went to make this comic. They did this on their own lol!

Bonus Traximus Reaction to finding his ward bickering like a child with one of the newbies

Honestly, it's actually a pretty important moment for both Rafa and Traximus. Rafa because that's that's the moment they realize Donny has like no self preservation instinct, so if he won't protect himself, Rafa will, while he's around to do it at least. It's important for Traximus b/c for the first time in years, he's seeing his ward acting like a child and he pretty much decides right then and there that 1) They're definitely siblings, and 2) if these 3 strangers actually manage to escape this place, he is making Rafa go with them.

Anyways, here's my little experiment with limited color pallets. I'm not sure i'll do this again b/c it was kinda annoying to figure out the colors first (especially since i knew i wanted both variations of red and purple but couldn't find a good pallet for that. Thus i ended up with this one.)

ps. Donny's shoulder is a reoccurring problem at this point b/c he won't let it rest long enough to heal properly. The injury first happened during "shredder strikes back" events and since Donny decided to start his training pretty much immediately upon getting to the farm house, it hasn't had the rest it needs to properly recover. theoretically, it should be healed by now, but he keeps pushing himself and re-injuring it, a fact he's been hiding as much as he possibly can.

One thing I think is funny about Donatello is he is absolutely unhinged no matter which iteration.

Like, yeah Rise Donnie is probably the most overt version of completely unhinged Donatello because he'd chug Uranium and fistfight Cthulhu. And you have whatever is going on with 2012 Donnie and that version of April 😨. But I would like to bring up some of the absolutely hilarious unhinged things some of the other Donnie's have done.

87 Donatello:

-has a personality altering ray that caused so many shenanigans but he kept anyways

-frequently talks about how he wishes he was a regular turtle with no higher thought

-was electrocuted once which convinced him he was Batman then proceeded to try and off Shredder on his own (and almost succeeded)

-literally just makes things blow up for fun

-if at first brains don't succeed, violence is the answer. (he's got a temper than can rival most Raphael's)

-he likes being in jail

03 Don:

-nearly drove himself insane trying to save his dad from cyberspace

-saw some rabbit making googoo eyes at his brother and chose violence.

-also makes bombs and missiles for fun

-Raph's #1 enabler (you'd think it's Mikey but no. Mikey eggs Raph on a ton but no. it's Don. they're the og disaster twins)

07 Donnie:

-bro works IT. That's it. That's the post lol.

I'm not familiar with the comics, IDW or Mirage, so I can't really comment on them. But I'm pretty convinced Mirage Donatello would be a war criminal.

Also Bayverse isn't included because I hate them.

Painted this two weeks ago, haven't posted it cause it isn't finished. but after a while I just realized that I'm never going to finish it and if I don't post it now, it will never see the light of day so yeah.

Do you think 2003 Donny had any lasting effects from double mutating?

Personally, yes, I think he does. The show doesn't really go into it because they kinda just jump right into the ninja tribunal arc from there (and probably so they wouldn't have to change the character model for animating him) but I like the idea that he kept some traits from his double mutation and while I do think big obvious changes like say, having a longer tail are pretty nifty for variety in character design, I'm also a sucker for more subtle, sneaky changes that Don himself still has to get used to. Because it's almost like he's back to normal. He's so close to being how he was before but he can never really go back. It's a time he can't even really remember and yet it has changed him and he's still finding all the little ways he's different now and it's so jarring.

Maybe he takes a good long look at himself in the mirror for the first time in weeks and he's just a little taller and a little broader than he remembers being. Not by much, but enough that he notices.

Maybe now he always knows that April's about to walk in the room because he scents vanilla perfume on the air before he even hears her footsteps.

Maybe he's working in his lab late at night, long after everyone has gone to bed and the lair is dark and he goes to the kitchen for a midnight snack. He only realizes once he's back at the lab that he didn't even grab a penlight to get through the dark lair without disturbing anybody.

He keeps having to throw away pens and pencils because when he chews on them while he's thinking he absentmindedly bites down too hard and keeps breaking them. He's running out of them.

its messed up how in the season 4 finale, its stated that this is the first time donny's left the lair in weeks since he's been recovering from the aftermath of his second mutation

and then they're immediately attacked. donatello is lifted and smacked onto concrete hard enough to knock him out while he was trying to get to raph who was pinned and helpless.

and then they're kidnapped and put in a (unlocked) cell!

they didn't let don help with moving furniture in the lair that morning, but that night all that shit goes down. they really cannot catch a break
