What about a little Gabriel's POV after episode 05x19

He's staring at the body on the floor.

His body.

Well, technically, not really. That's an old trick. A trick he learned from the very hand of the person who stuck a fucking angel blade between his ribs without batting an eye.

A whole new level of love-hate sibling relationship if you ask him.

And Chuck knows it stings. Not just the stabbing crap, even if he had to put a lot of himself in that illusion to make it looks real. And fuck it was. It went all big, with his fake pretty wings turning extra-crispy on the floor and the frigging energy explosion.

He would almost be proud if he wasn't feeling so bitter.

There, kneeling on the floor where his real body could have been, all he was feeling was that intense void eating him from the inside. He hadn't been stabbed but it sure felt like it.

He had replayed it a million times in his head for the last hour, wondering if he could have done something to prevent this, to stop it from happening.

What if it was his last chance to make his brother come back to his senses ? What if he had found the right words ? What if he had stepped in long ago instead of hiding during all this time ?

What if he hadn't been a fucking coward ?

He's almost relieved to feel nothing than emptiness within his being because he's too afraid of what's crawling in the darkest corners of his mind.

Disgust. For Heaven, for himself. For Michael and for his Father who had played big part turning his brother into a monster. For Lucifer who had let them.

Shame, for being the one who runs and hides and disappears when things get ugly.

Betrayal. If he could rip out if his brain the look in Lucifer's cold eyes when he had plunged his blade inside of his heart, he would do it right now with his own nails.

Fear. Pain. Despair. Loneliness.

All those scary feelings he had carefully sealed so long ago, buried deep inside of him by placating a very convincing smile on his face.

Because that's what he does, right ? That's what he is.

He's the fucking Trickster.

He doesn't care about anything, or anybody.

He's the one who flips Heaven off and laugh at the angels about the stick up their asses and their cruel lack of free will.

Almost like he's not one of them anymore.

Because at least, he's free and they can't say the same. He doesn't have to listen to anybody, he doesn't owe anyone.

He can decide that life's a joke. In fact, everything can be a joke if you simply just don't care.

And he doesn't.

He doesn't.

Right ?

Right.

Now, all things considered, he's feeling a bit nauseous.

Fuck.

He does care.

That's why he gave the blonde twink and the goddamn Sasquatch the detailed recipe to put back Lucifer's ass right back into that Cage.

He fucking cares, because he doesn't know how not to.

And that's funny because it will probably come back to bite him in the ass one day.

But well, not today.

Hammer of the Gods (05x19) is easily one of the most frustrating episodes in the series in a rewatch. Why? Mostly because of Kali's speech here:

Your story. Not ours. Westerners, I swear. The sheer arrogance. You think you're the only ones on earth? You pillage and you butcher in your God's name. But you're not the only religion, and he's not the only God. And now you think you can just rip the planet apart? You're wrong. There are billions of us. And we were here first. If anyone gets to end this world, it's me.

Aside from being completely badass, it brought up a ton of really interesting questions on the origin of this universe, faith, and the power of religion. Why is Lucifer so OP compared to gods of other faiths? Is the world in danger from other end time events? Did the Judaeo-Christian God really create this world, or is the reality more complicated than that?

The answer is, of course: fuck you. Christianity is the One True Religion (in a fashion), the only things at the beginning of the universe were Chuck and his sister (and maybe Death? I'll save that rant for another episode), and the other gods are just pumped up monsters, I guess? According to Fortuna in season 15, the other gods only even exist to take the blame for all of Chuck's fuck ups anyway. Why Fortuna knows this and none of the other seem to is anyone's guess (maybe she's just lucky--see what I did there?). I remember when this episode first aired and I was convinced following up on this would be the plot of season 6. Kali, at the very least, would surely make another appearance. Then season 6 went by, then 7, and that's when I realized yeah, I love this show to death, but they're never going to follow up on any of their really interesting ideas because those interesting ideas were only ever there by accident.

No, seriously, I love this fucking show. But justice for Kali and the end times that never were.

Okay, so just straight on ranting here-

I just watched Written on the Wind, which deals with family business and relations and I couldn't but make parallels to the characters with Rory-Jess-Logan:

Jess is Rock Hudson's character- a smart, moral man who always thinks the best for everyone even if they don't deserve it (similar to 06x18). He's honest about his feelings and will not wallow over them (though he does some serious pining throughout the movie)

Rory is Lauren Bacall's character who marries a man who manipulates her into a marriage (similar to Logan when he pushed that he can change and be boyfriend material in 05x19) and has to deal with his relapse into alcohol (like in 06x08).

Logan is Robert Stack's character, who is a lazy person and womanizer, who attempts to change by marrying the woman who's against his type, but when things don't go his way, he relapses and everyone has to pick up the pieces...
