Our earlier conversation with Jade implied that these scrawlings are manifestations of Sburb knowledge that the Players aren’t consciously aware of.
John’s dream self draws clowns and insults. He prototyped a clown, and his actions will lead to Project Trolling.
Rose’s dream self draws DNA. Her quest involves gene sequences.
Dave’s dream self draws his comics. At some point in the future, Sweet Bro and Hella Jeff will be relevant to the game.
Jade probably doesn't draw anything. Her dream self has been fully awake for years, so she’s not having the nightmares that lead to these wall scrawlings.
You suppose a perusal of her bookshelf would be harmless enough. Just a bunch of books. The knowledge within is meant for everybody.
This is the kind of thing you’d say if John was about to pull out the Necronomicon.
We’re in Rose’s house, so John is about to pull out the Necronomicon.
Never mind - he’s come across an even more cursed tome.
I assume this is a real person, but I don’t recognize him, so I don’t get the joke if there is one. I would, however, like to hear the big man’s answers.
Wait. Does that mean...
Did Jade give John an endgame bunny?
Was the Black Queen killed by a rabbit?
Rose, like Dave, is trying to express her feelings in defiance to an overwhelming instinct to bury them. Her armor of choice is purple prose, instead of memes and references.
John,
I never got to thank you properly for your gift. [...]
The proper thanks I thought would be a demonstration that your offering was not in vain. Yes, maybe some would take your suggested alternative to my gloomy preoccupations as a passive-aggressive jab. But I know you didn't mean it that way. [...]
I used your present to thread life anew into a tattered heirloom. [...] Too delicate to wash, too dear to discard. I used to love this rabbit. Now he's yours. [...]
Happy birthday.
Rose
We, however, know Rose, and can apply a translation.
John.
Your gift meant more than I can express. I know it was sincere, and I honestly appreciate it.
Look what I made with it! I love this rabbit too much to throw out, but I’m giving it to you.
Rose.
