"Always remember us this way." A Star is Born ~ Bradley Cooper (2018)

Nella prima mezz'ora di questo film ho avuto la netta percezione di star guardando Bradley Cooper che si faceva una sega. Nella restante (lunghissima) ora e mezza ho cambiato idea. Non è Bradley Cooper che si fa una sega. È Bradley Cooper che mirabilmente proietta il proprio ego fuori da sé e fa una sega ad entrambi in un mutuo sbrodolare di onanismi. Se il titolo fosse stato "A Star is Born sì ok ma ora torniamo ai miei bellissimi malinconici occhi blu e alla mia possente muscolatura addominale che sfoggeró in almeno 3 occasioni assolutamente non necessarie ai fini della narrazione" sarebbe stato più adatto. La sceneggiatura non è solo banale, cosa prevedibile visti gli "antenati" della storia, ma anche onestamente imbarazzante: mette in scena una relazione amorosa imperniata su un paternalismo tossico che nemmeno il bonario sorriso da southern boy di Cooper riesce a rendere meno fastidioso - lo rende semmai PIÙ fastidioso. Le mie orecchie hanno davvero sentito la frase "ho scritto questa canzone per quando tornerai te stessa?" pronunciata perché sua signoria disapprova la deriva pop dell'amata? Ma checcazzo. Unica nota positiva Lady Gaga, che canta bene e ci fa prendere una boccata d'ossigeno dall'onnipresenza soffocante del suo più-che-co-protagonista. Però perché la canzone principale della soundtrack fa "We are far from the shallow now / In the shaAaAllow"? Cioè far from o in? Sono confusa.

Fuori dal palazzo c'è la guerra e la politicona, dentro il palazzo ci sono i bisticci e la politichina. O forse è il contrario? I protagonisti del film sono tutti giocatori di una partita spietata per la corsa al potere, in un intreccio neanche troppo sofisticato di favori e favoriti, inganni e fedeltà, venduti e comprati. Protagonista indiscusso del film è il palazzo reale, che rappresenta in modo magistrale questo universo parallelo di sottogiochi politici. Un luogo di spazi giganteschi - serve il grandangolo per inquadrarli tutti - che nascondono passaggi segreti e oscuri, ma anche enormi giardini solitari e lunghi corridoi deserti, fatti apposta per i complotti. Pregevole anche la generica sontuosità degli ambienti: privi di colori politici, basta distrarsi un attimo e ci si scorda di essere in Inghilterra e non a Versailles. Con chi è che eravamo in guerra?
