02.07.2023, ride 1 for July ✨

Another cross country lesson today! Ed was great for the water jump and just cruised around, but he lost his mojo a bit after he had a nasty stop at a log pile and spun me off and scared himself 🤦‍♀️ We ended on a happy note going over every jump he was pointed at and he felt much better at the end of the ride! 💪

Gem is turning out to be such a cool little pony for mum as well, she wasn’t fussed about leaving Ed at all and just bobbled around everything like she’d done it all before! For a green horse she’s as brave and honest as they come, even better behaved than Ed today! 🤦‍♀️ Gem’s confidence (and mum’s!) has skyrocketed and she loooooves cross country now ❤️

Every new years eve I always think ab the time my friends and I went to the movies on nye like usual, and my dad had just dropped us off at the front. So we're walking toward the door, dad's waiting to make sure we get in safe. And I see a familiar face, one I haven't seen in years! It's my mom's old boss, back when bosses weren't all shit. He was really nice to me, always helping with fundraisers, giving me candy if he had some in his office, just a really nice guy. He and my mom were close enough that when she was pregnant and had me, she always brought me in to say hi. This continue for years, every time I'd be shopping with mom we'd go see him.

Now I have no clue how this started, but when I was really little like starting at 3, I'd call him my Grandpa. Now at the time he was a middle aged black man, absolutely looked nothing like me. Anyway we'd always go see Grandpa and I'd give him a hug.

So anyway we're walking in and we're still outside the building and I see this guy walking out and it's Grandpa! I run up to him and yell "grandpa!" And hug him. We laugh, exchange pleasantries, "tell your mom I said hi", happy new year. My dad is laughing from the car and he waves to him. I turn to go back to my friends and they look MORTIFIED. They thought I just ran up to some random black man and called him grandpa and hugged him 😭

They were like "what the fuck was that?! You know damn well that's not your grandpa! What the hell is the matter with you?!"

I'm insistent that that WAS my grandpa. They give pause and ask "your grandpa's black???"

So I explain our relationship and they're still a little weirded out (very sheltered white kids but also just the whole relationship) and we go in.

I think ab it every year on nye and every time I go to that theater sgdgdgdg I think if i had just been like "oh i think i saw grandpa" and not gone up to him, I'd have felt bad. Anyway the look on their faces was so fucking funny I thought they were gonna act like they didnt know me and walk away
