She discusses athletes like Norwegian boxer Cecilia Brækhus and the Williams sisters, who she credits with modeling the behavior of what it means to have familial support as a woman in sports. Hegerberg herself has a new short coming out titled “Icons with Ada Hegerberg” where she discusses the women she admired in her youth and why they mattered to her. Those pieces allow us to connect with them through more than just their play on the pitch and our need to watch their sublime talent. One of the perks of the partnership with the UWCL, DAZN, and players like Hegerberg, who’s already an ambassador of the game, are the pieces on players in this tournament. The numbers bear that out, with over 14 million views in over 210 markets for the group stages alone through the DAZN YouTube channel. “It is important for the players that DAZN is able to get more eyeballs on the screen, to know that people are watching makes the players feel good,” Hegerberg tells me in response to the importance of DAZN showing all UWCL matches from the group stages onward. My time with Ada will be brief, but I want to speak to her about her partnership with DAZN and why it is so important to her. This is, of course, the persona Hegerberg carries with her onto the pitch as one of the unquestioned leaders of a Lyon team that is not unused to making it this far in the UEFA Women’s Champions League. She appears in a brown shirt, the picture of calm in her sun soaked room despite having done what I imagine are several interviews back-to-back.

Untuk Kamu yang Jarang Membaca

Teman-teman saya bervariasi kalau bicara soal membaca. Ada yang suka dan terbiasa membaca buku, ada yang suka namun tidak sempat membaca buku, ada yang merasa cepat jenuh jika membaca buku, ada yang memang tidak suka membaca tulisan apa saja bahkan berita sekalipun. Tapi kebanyakan di lingkup saya adalah orang-orang yang sebenarnya punya minat baca namun tidak merasa sempat untuk membaca buku dan cepat tidak fokus jika sebuah buku atau tulisan lainnya memiliki isi yang terlalu panjang. Jika ternyata itu adalah kamu, maka ada 5 referensi yang bisa dibaca dalam waktu singkat, tanpa clickbait:

1. The Conversation

Academic rigor, journalistic flair. Sebuah kalimat tepat yang digunakan sebagai tagline oleh situs ini. Tulisannya terkait dengan hal-hal yang menjadi pembicaraan di publik (seperti berita, ya?) namun ditulis berlandaskan riset. Penulisnya berasal dari para dosen dan tim riset dalam universitas. Ada versi Indonesia jika lebih berminat dengan konten skala nasional. Sejujurnya saya sedang belajar agar penulisan saya dalam membahas apapun bisa seperti tulisan di The Conversation ini. Sedikit intermezzo, saya punya harapan kecil, semoga setidaknya dalam 5 tahun lagi saya mampu membaca The Conversation France dengan fasih. Haha.

2. Medium

Iya, mainstream, haha. Tidak sedikit juga teman saya yang menulis di Medium. Tulisan mereka bermacam-macam, ada yang menulis artikel ilmiah soal keilmuan sains dan tekniknya, ada yang membahas soal kaderisasi kampus, bahkan ada juga yang menulis puisi atau bahkan sekadar mencurahkan isi hati via Medium ini. Saya jarang membaca tulisan mereka. Apa yang saya suka dari Medium adalah, pertama, di dalamnya banyak tulisan dari berbagai penulis yang menjabarkan tentang topik-topik favorit saya, misal self-development, design, startup, bahkan social sciences. Kedua, UX situs ini tergolong well-designed, cukup nyaman untuk menulis dan membaca. Di antara semua referensi yang saya tuliskan di sini, Medium adalah situs yang otomatis saya buka setiap membuka browser (bersama Tumblr, tentunya). Tidak banyak tulisan yang saya unggah di sana karena saya merasa tulisan di sana harus cukup berkualitas. Saya belum merasa mumpuni untuk sering menuangkan isi pikiran di Medium.

3. Vox

Selain dari Youtube channel mereka, berita dan artikel dari mereka juga menarik untuk dibaca karena mampu menjelaskan suatu hal secara kronologis dan holistik. Topik yang dibahas ada yang mengikuti tren, ada juga yang unik dan jarang dibahas di media lain. Apapun itu topiknya, semuanya insightful.

4. (Halo untuk semua desainer) Dezeen

Salah satu cara untuk jadi pintar dan kreatif tentunya dengan traveling. Kalau belum mampu secara waktu, tenaga atau materi, minimal dengan membaca. Dezeen jadi salah satu referensi daring desain yang jadi patokan saya karena memberi berita seputar dunia desain dari seluruh dunia (ya, termasuk Indonesia). Semua kontennya terkurasi dengan baik.

Day 03 - A picture of the cast of your favorite show & A picture of you and your friends

Baru juga hari ke tiga dan aku dah mulai telat, hehehe. Yaudah kita mulai hari ke tiga. Sebenernya aku jarang nonton tv, tapi kita kudu kreatif. Tadinya aku mikir ada show di youtube yang bisa aku masukin apa engga, tapi akhirnya aku masukin ini.

Today, Explain team dari Vox Media Company

Sejak awal pandemi, aku jadi rajin (tapi ga tiap hari juga sih) buat dengerin podacast. Yang sering aku dengerin ada BBC News Indonesia yang isinya berita-berita biar aku paham ada apa aja yang terjadi di sekitar. Biar ga kentang-kentang banget gitu. Tapi yang lebih menarik ada show ini Today, Explain.

Aku juga follow Vox di Youtube, tapi ternyata podcast mereka lebih seru lagi. Karena hal yang di bahas unik-unik. Kadang yang dibahas isu mutakhir kayak masalah pandemi, atau masalah vaksin, tapi kadang juga ada ngomongin masalah dalam negeri di amerika. Ya mereka emang dari Amerika, jadi wajar kalau merek ngebahas permasalahan di Amerika. Dan cara ngejelasinnya juga lucu, ya kayak talk show, tapi juga informatif dan saintifik. Jadi bukan podcast yang cuma ngomong ngalor-ngidul ga jelas, atau cuma isu mutakhir yang dibahas bareng tanpa ada landasan teori atau punya backgroun yang pas buat ngebahas isu nya.

Ya aku ga mengesampingkan orang-orang yang suka denger podcast picisan yang isinya cuma ngebahas isu bareng artis yang sama sekali ga punya latar belakang yang pas buat bahas isu tersebut. Ya kalo that's your thing, just do it. But in my case, that's not my case.

Youtube Diary (01?)

Menyiasati attention span yang kian hari kian pendek padahal masih umur produktif sebagai pribadi yang sudah sangat attached terhadap social media yang membutuhkan short attention span: Instagram dan twitter. Social media yang nggak ndakik-ndakik dan ada fitur close-friendnya. Dirasa-rasa saya emang doyan banget trashtalking sampe rasanya jempol bisa gatel sendiri kalo ga posting sehari aja via twitter atau snapgram.

Dari bulan februari (lupa kapan tepatnya) saya effort banget buat uninstall instagram dan twitter dari hp. Berusaha mengalihkan distraksi itu dengan memulai menjadi penonton youtube. Sebelum ini saya kesulitan banget menggunakan youtube karena gatau gimana harus memulai, ga ada fitur siapa-lagi-nonton-apa. Juga buat menerbitkan konten alias nge-post tidak bisa semudah kita posting instagram, feedback juga tidak semudah dengan instagram dan twitter, jadi mungkin sulit buat saya mengenali youtube karena proses personallizenya beda. Setelah ngerapihin bookmarks, barulah saya agak faham cara pakenya, youtube jadi lebih terpersonalisasi... dan memberi enlightment banget! Di sela-sela kerja bisa disambi nonton video-video pendek sehingga banyak banget yang ga didapet dari instagram. Sebagai contoh:

1. Mengupas tuntas alias nonton banyak-banyak video dari cuma beberapa lifestyle-youtuber, salah satunya titan tyra. beda banget dengan instagram di mana saya follow semua influencer yang pengen saya follow, yang mana banyak banget. Yang bikin hooked sama titan tyra adalah travel vlog makan-makannya di jepang, tapi kemudian jadi udah kebiasaan nonton daily vlognya, apalagi waktu dia masih kuliah.

2. Lifestyle-youtuber lainnya adalah marlo-marco di dismedia. Pas banget udah ngabisin semua episode Unfaedah Podcast di Spotify, Pascal nyuruh nonton sruput nendang, kocak banget (trying to be calm by only write a short description). Lama-lama jadi nyaman nontonnya di mana-mana. Plus point: akselerasi progressnya luar biasa kayanya belum setahun deh umur channelnya.

3. Asian boss: Stay Curious. Kenapa bisa muncul di home youtube saya pertama kali? Tentunya karena ketertarikan dengan nihonjin lifestyle yang ajaib buat saya yang orang Indonesia tulen. “In-depth interviews with experts in their respective fields”. Yang saya jadi baru tahu misalnya, ada profesi khusus untuk bersihin mayat orang yang hikikomori di Jepang kemudian bunuh diri, yang mana bunuh diri itu udah terjadi berhari-hari yang lalu. Atau yang jadi sales rumah yang jadi scene pembunuhan atau bunuh diri. Pekerjaan-pekerjaan yang kesan mulianya sangat “baru”.

4. Vox: 2020 Election. Mereka compile masalah-masalah urban yang ada di US. Rasanya pembahasannya jadi fokus aja ketika kita aware oh ini tuh dalam rangka pemilu. Salah satu videonya, ttg pembangkit sumber daya di Texas.

5. Vox: Urbanism & Transportation. Hoho tentu sangat cocok untuk urban design snob seperti saya. Alasan pertama kali nonton ini: kepikiran semaleman setelah tercetus obrolan tentang highrise sama Ansyar.

6. Gita Wirjawan: Endgame. Ngedengerin pembicaraan privileged people orang-orang hebat. Direkomendasikan oleh youtube karena nonton Serenata Jiwa Lara, lalu muncul Interview Pak Gita dengan Dian Sastro. Alasan receh: Pak Gitanya kalo interview selalu kalem, jadi variasi aja di antara banyak tontonan yang nadanya riang dan nyablak. Lalu betapa bermaknanya perbedaan antara interviewer yang sudah mengenal narasumbernya dan interviewer yang kebanyakan omong.

7. Arsitektour Indonesia (credit to Nanda yang ngerekomendasiin channel ini). Ini review rumah-rumah developer. Enlighting banget di sisi interior practical details, harga, dan materials buat orang kaya saya yang buta ilmu praktikal. Plus jadi bisa nyinyir dengan kedok memperdalam market knowledge.

8. Architectural Digest: Open Door. Seneng banget liat rumah Zedd bisa Zedd banget. Juga jadi reminder rumah extravagant ga selalu bagus. Datang ke sini pertama kali tentunya karena the phenomenal house: Dakota Johnson. Update: suka banget rumahnya Troye Sivan.

Ini saja sih playlist yang bisa saya record untuk terus-terusan ditonton. Moga semua playlist di atas bisa saya selami lebih dalam supaya terlatih untuk fokus di satu topik secara mendalam.

Lalu karena satu keperluan harus tukar pesan dengan teman di Instagram, dan terinstall lagi Instagram di handphone saya. Banyak juga info yang saya ketinggalan dari sana, tapi dua hari menyambangi akun itu tidak buruk juga. Update terkait Pritzker Prize misalnya, saya dapat dari Instagram. Atau Silk Sonic juga saya dengar pertama kali dari Instagram. Tidak sabar untuk menemukan ritme terbaik untuk juggling dari satu social media ke social media lain, karena hidup tanpa social media untuk anak chirpy seperti saya rasanya agak ekstrem dan mustahil.

“Nggak nyaman banget, sih!”

Kalian yang suka berpergian dengan transportasi umum, atau sering berpergian di tempat - tempat umum di ibukota pasti sering banget ngerasa nggak nyaman akan fasilitas yang disediakan. contohnya tempat duduk - tempat duduk yang biasa kita gunakan untuk duduk menunggu bus / kereta / angkot yang sangat tidak nyaman untuk diduduki. Sebel nggak sih padahal kita pingin istirahat sejenak karena berjalan jauh?

Dibalik kursi yang tidak nyaman tersebut, tahu nggak kalau ternyata ada pesan dan tujuan yang ingin disampaikan?

Vox melalui kanalnya di Youtube menjelaskan fenomena tersebut yang terjadi di New York. terdapat salah "tempat duduk" baru yang dipasang di setiap stasiun kereta bawah tanahnya yang sangat terlihat tidak nyaman untuk diduduki. Namun, setelah riset dilakukan oleh Vox ternyata hal tersebut merupakan penerapan dari apa yang disebut sebagai "Defensive design". Kursi - kursi tidak nyaman yang kita temukan didesain untuk kita duduki namun tidak untuk membuat kita terlalu nyaman untuk menetap di tempat tersebut, lebih jauh lagi, untuk menghindari para tunawisma menjarah tempat - tempat umum agar lingkungan tetap tertib. Tidak hanya itu, dalam videonya Vox menjelaskan secara detail elemen - elemen yang ada dalam fasilitas umum di kota yang jika ditinjau lebih jauh lagi menyampaikan suatu pesan spesifik yang memerintahkan kita untuk tidak terlalu lama menggunakannya.

Hal ini tentu saja sangat berkaitan dengan paradoks McLuhan yang berbunyi "the medium is the message". Kursi - kursi tersebut dibuat sedemikian rupa untuk membuat rangkaian pesan yang ingin mereka sampaikan untuk tujuan tertentu demi ketertiban lingkungan. Dengan begitu, kita tidak bisa hanya mendefinisikan tempat duduk di tempat umum itu sebagai "tempat untuk duduk & beristirahat" saja. Semua fasilitas yang ada di tempat umum ternyata dibuat dengan tujuan - tujuannya tersendiri yang berusaha disampaikan kepada publik melalui elemen dari medium yang ada.

The Internet.

I have probably lived half of my life in the digital realm. Like in the real world, I avoid social interaction as much as I can. No, not because I don’t like them, because just like in the real world, there are a lot of mean people on the internet, and I’d like to avoid them at all costs. How? You might ask. Well, just. Don’t initiate too much conversation dude. Granted, sometimes you’re just unlucky and will eventually meet less than pleasant people out there. Thankfully we are on the internet where we can block people. Stay safe guys.

There is more to the internet than socializing and random memes trends that seemed to change whenever I look away from my phone. It’s full of useful and quirky details. A lot of them you can see for free. Google has a bunch of cool tricks like that dinosaur thing, atari breakout, that slightly ominous oz trick (google them, you’ll be surprised) and a lot more, I’m sure. Google doodles are a thing too and I like to read about the facts of the day there, you can also see cool illustrations and there are some interactive doodles now. I honestly don’t know where this post is going. So let me just write down a few things that I enjoy recently. Warning: a lot of these are literature/reading materials but they’re all free!

Note: Buat temen-temen yang biasa mengkonsumsi media dalam bahasa Indonesia, ada juga beberapa rekomendasi buat kalian dan bagi yang lagi cari-cari cara buat belajar bahasa Inggris, this is for you, semangat guys!

1. Pocket, an application that allows you to save articles and read them. I’ve been using this application for years now and have saved hundreds of articles. They send you an email every couple of weeks or so and recommend some articles that might pique your interest. You can also save articles from your browser with a pocket extension or the sharing option.

2. archive.org and openlibrary.org is useful for anyone. You can read and borrow books from a huge selection and though you might not find everything you look for, you can find some interesting books. They have novels, reference books, academic books, textbooks, illustrated books, library catalogs, journals, magazines, comic books, whatever you feel like reading, they probably have a version or two of them. You can borrow books for an hour or 14 days. I have only started borrowing so I have no idea if you can immediately borrow them again after 14 days or not.

3. stories.audible.com is a website from audible that is targeted for kids. So a lot of the books here are for kids and teens but I’m sure there is something for you. I don’t usually listen to audiobooks (but I do listen to podcasts sometimes) and I’m kind of liking it? It’s pretty interesting. I liked the classics stories and the audible shorts that I can listen to while journaling or doing some other mindless tasks.

4. Podcasts! Okay if you don’t have Spotify / apple’s podcast (do we need to pay for this? I have no idea) some of these might not be on youtube. Here is a list of the podcasts that I liked/am listening to:

My biggest concern on podcasts is always “will I ever finish this?” Because the creators are always putting out new episodes, but I’ve always succeeded in forgetting about finishing it and listening to an array of them based on my mood. I think the reason I prefer podcasts over youtube videos is that I feel the need to focus on the screen when watching a video but podcasts are chill, I can leave my device on my desk and as long as I can hear, it’s cool. I used to listen to the local radios but they’re mostly songs and small talks. Sometimes you just need to think about life while dusting your shelf, you know?

5. museummacan.org is the website for the modern and contemporary art museum in Jakarta, Museum MACAN. It’s one of my favorite places in Jakarta, I try to attend their exhibition whenever I can (the exhibition change every couple of months). I’m pretty sure the website is available for English and Indonesian but correct me if I’m wrong. I think today was the first day I opened the website out of curiosity and I’m impressed. There are a lot of things that you can read about past artworks that were displayed in the museum and some current projects that you can dive into if you’re interested in art.

6. Some honorable mentions because I use them all the time to study: khancademy, quizlet, duolingo and edx. All of these platforms are free to some extent, but you can use them for free pretty comfortably. I honestly treat duolingo as a game rather than a studying platform because. Well. It kinda resembles a game, no? I am using skillshare too (and I’m liking it so far) but only until mid-august, hehe.

7. Since we’re talking about studying all of a sudden, here are some recommendations on youtube channels that are educational/interesting in general.

Business schools fetishize entrepreneurial innovation, but their most prominent heroes succeeded because they manipulated corporate law, not because of personal brilliance.

Capitalism, like the United States itself, has a mythology, and for five decades one of its central characters has been the nineteenth-century maverick cigarette entrepreneur, James B. Duke. Duke’s risk-taking investment in the newfangled machine-made cigarette, so the story goes, displaced the pricey, hand-rolled variety offered by his stodgy competitors. This, in turn, won Duke control of the national, and soon global, cigarette market. Repeated ad nauseam in business and history journals, high school and university curricula, popular magazines, and websites, the story has taught that disruptive innovation drives capitalist progress.

The problem? The Duke story is false: mid-century business historians fabricated it to accord with the theory of creative destruction, developed by libertarian economist Joseph Schumpeter. For generations, we have learned from this myth to fetishize entrepreneurial innovation as the engine of capitalism, while missing Duke’s instrumental role in rampant corporate empowerment.

That has to do with the problem of not testing the drug on women at different stages of their menstrual cycle, because you [the researcher] say, “Oh, that’s too complicated and too expensive.” You’re basically saying, “I would rather let women die than have to do a complicated test.”

This was how the wolf operated: by exploiting the fact that so many (white) people have been trained not to take the things that happen on the internet very seriously. They operated by laundering hate into the mainstream through “ironically” racist memes, then using all that laughter as a radicalization and recruitment tool.

RUU Permusikan Menuai Protes, Apa Isi Aturan Musik di Negara Lain ?

Di Inggris Raya, Singapura, Jepang, dan AS, undang-undang musik tak mengatur harkat martabat dan penistaan agama.

Sebanyak 260 musisi yang tergabung dalam Koalisi Nasional Tolak RUU Permusikan menyatakan sikap bersama sehubungan dengan RUU Permusikan. Dalam rilis yang diterima Tirto pada Minggu (3/2) malam, mereka menyatakan RUU tersebut menyimpan banyak masalah fundamental yang membatasi dan menghambat perkembangan proses kreasi, di samping berpotensi merepresi para pekerja musik.

Koalisi Nasional Tolak RUU Permusikan melihat RUU Permusikan memuat banyak pasal yang tumpang tindih dengan beberapa Undang-Undang yang ada seperti Undang-Undang Hak Cipta, Undang-Undang Serah-Simpan Karya Cetak dan Karya Rekam, serta Undang-Undang ITE. RUU Permusikan juga dianggap memuat pasal “karet” yang tercermin lewat keberadaan Pasal 5. Isinya antara lain larangan untuk membawa budaya barat yang negatif, merendahkan harkat martabat, menistakan agama, hingga membuat konten pornografi maupun karya provokatif. Ketentuan pidana dari pasal ini diatur dalam Pasal 50.

Bagaimana Negara Lain?

Kehadiran RUU Permusikan seketika membuka diskursus tentang bagaimana persoalan musik diatur di negara lain.

Di Singapura, aturan pemerintah tentang musik masih berkutat pada hal-hal teknis: dari hak cipta, pembajakan, hingga izin bermain di muka umum. Aturan menyelenggarakan konser, misalnya, tertuang dalam Bab 257 Public Entertainment Act (PEA).

Isi dari aturan itu ialah bahwa untuk setiap konser yang diadakan di tempat umum, baik gratis atau berbayar, harus mengantongi izin dari otoritas terkait. Apabila konser diadakan tanpa izin, pihak penyelenggara bisa dikenai denda sebesar 20 ribu dolar.

Bergeser ke Jepang, aturan hukum soal musik, contohnya, termaktub dalam Undang-Undang Hak Cipta yang sudah ada sejak 1985. Kehadiran UU ini dinilai mendorong tumbuhnya tempat persewaan CD musik secara legal di kota-kota di Jepang. Di Jepang, rental CD menjadi faktor kunci mengapa rilisan fisik masih diminati hingga sekarang.

Aturan hukum nasional di Jepang juga mampu menciptakan batasan penjualan CD dengan harga di bawah 2.500 yen (sekitar 21 dolar). Untuk ukuran pasar Jepang, harga tersebut bisa dibilang relatif mahal. Menariknya, sekalipun mahal, Jepang tidak pernah mengalami periode pengunduhan ilegal yang meluas. Bahkan, selama beberapa tahun terakhir, penggunaan program file sharing bernama peer-to-peer menurun hingga 40 persen.

Kondisi serupa muncul pula di Inggris Raya. Di negeri Ratu Elizabeth ini, terdapat regulasi berwujud Live Music Act, yang resmi berlaku pada Oktober 2012 silam. Kehadiran Live Music Act dipandang sebagai terobosan penting dalam kancah musik di Inggris. Pasalnya, aturan tersebut berandil dalam dihapuskannya persyaratan Otoritas Lokal mengenai peredaran minuman beralkohol di venue pertunjukan musik.

Capaian itu tak mungkin bisa terealisasi tanpa kontribusi dari UK Music, badan perwakilan para pihak-pihak berkepentingan di industri musik Inggris, dari label, promotor, sampai musisi, yang didirikan pada 2008.

Sejak pertama kali didirikan, UK Music punya tiga tugas pokok: menyalurkan aspirasi dari mereka yang bergerak di industri musik, menggalang riset dan publikasi mengenai nilai ekonomis yang bisa dihasilkan industri musik, serta memastikan bahwa hak cipta dapat diterapkan tanpa pandang bulu.

Peran kunci yang dilakukan UK Music yakni mempromosikan pemahaman yang lebih besar di antara para pembuat kebijakan tentang industri musik hingga memberikan penjelasan dan analisis tentang bagaimana keputusan mereka akan berdampak pada sektor ini.

Dalam beberapa tahun terakhir, UK Music telah membikin kemajuan signifikan untuk mengubah undang-undang yang memungkinkan industri musik terus tumbuh dan berkembang. Terutama pada isu-isu macam hak cipta, perizinan konser, hingga representasi di tingkat legislatif dan pembuat kebijakan.

Sementara di AS, mengutip pemberitaan Vox, hubungan hukum dan musik bisa dilihat dari apa yang baru saja terjadi pada Oktober kemarin manakala Presiden Donald Trump meneken Undang-Undang Modernisasi Musik (Music Modernization Act). Sebelum disahkan Trump, regulasi ini lebih dulu memperoleh dukungan secara bulat dari anggota parlemen Republik maupun Demokrat.

Perangkat hukum ini lahir atas kebutuhan untuk memperbarui serta merampingkan sengkarut yang terjadi di era streaming, di mana semakin banyak musisi yang merasa kesulitan mendapatkan royalti dari platform macam Spotify dan lainnya. Cita-cita yang hendak diwujudkan: pemenuhan pembayaran royalti kepada mereka yang lagu-lagunya diputar di layanan streaming.

Isu musisi dan teknologi memang menjadi isu menarik di industri musik AS. Tiga tahun lalu, puluhan musisi yang dimotori Christina Aguilera serta Katy Perry meminta pemerintah AS untuk merevisi Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) yang mengatur akses dan hak cipta di internet. Mereka beralasan bahwa perusahaan teknologi seperti YouTube dan Tumblr telah menghasilkan banyak keuntungan dengan mengunggah karya-karya dari musisi tanpa persetujuan.

“Pertumbuhan perusahaan teknologi tak boleh mengorbankan musisi dan penulis lagu,” demikian bunyi petisi yang ditandatangani Aguilera bersama kawan-kawannya. “Perusahaan teknologi memperoleh manfaat dari aturan hukum yang berlaku saat ini.”

“Undang-Undang yang ada, serta segala interpretasinya, mengancam kelanjutan karier penulis lagu dan musisi untuk bertahan di industri musik,” tambah bunyi petisi tersebut. Tak Perlu Keluar dari Aspek Teknis

Selain yang sudah disebutkan di atas, aturan hukum yang berhubungan dengan musik juga dapat dijumpai di beberapa ranah seperti kontrak rekaman antara pihak label dan musisi hingga merchandise.

Untuk poin pertama, misalnya, aturan hukum dipakai guna menentukan jangka waktu atau durasi perjanjian, jumlah lagu atau album yang harus direkam, royalti yang dibayarkan kepada musisi, wilayah (negara-negara di mana label rekaman dapat merilis atau menjual album), anggaran rekaman, sampai pemasaran dan promosi. Kemudian di poin kedua, merchandise, aturan hukum diterapkan untuk mencegah pihak lain melakukan plagiarisme serta penggunaan tanpa izin.

Sebetulnya sudah bisa kita simpulkan bahwa dalam urusan musik, cakupan hukum biarlah berada pada ranah teknis. Negara-negara macam Singapura, AS, Jepang, hingga Inggris telah menerapkan hal tersebut. Keputusan DPR menyertakan pasal yang “tidak jelas konteksnya seperti apa” dalam RUU Permusikan, selain ngawur, juga mengancam kebebasan berkreasi para musisi. Ketentuan-ketentuan yang berbunyi larangan untuk membawa budaya barat yang negatif, merendahkan harkat martabat, menistakan agama, hingga membuat konten pornografi maupun karya provokatif, hampir tidak ditemukan di instrumen hukum di negara-negara yang disebut di atas.

Keempat negara ini cenderung memusatkan perhatian mereka pada perkara yang jelas, alih-alih berfokus pada konsep yang abstrak. Di sinilah seharusnya peran undang-undang itu dimaksimalkan. Lagi pula, bagaimana cara memutuskan (karya) seorang musikus “merendahkan harkat martabat”?

Aturan tentang musik di negara lain umumnya mengatur hal-hal teknis dan soal copyright.

Cancel culture: susahnya hidup dengan standar warganet

Baru-baru ini, aku dapat istilah baru yang mulai merebak di sosial media dengan sebutan “cancel culture”. Pertama penasaran, konteks si cancel culture ini apa ya? Apakah budaya membatalkan pesanan makanan di aplikasi ojek online atau apa?

Jadi, definisi menurut urban dictionary seperti ini

Cancel culture: a desire to cancel out a person or community from social media platform

Tambahan lagi kalau menurut vox dalam artikelnya menyebutkan ada sebuah pola bagaimana cancel culture ini bisa terjadi, kurang lebih seperti ini

A celebrity or other public figure does or says something offensive. A public backlash, often fueled by politically progressive social media, ensues. Then come the calls to cancel the person — that is, to effectively end their career or revoke their cultural cachet, whether through boycotts of their work or disciplinary action from an employer.

Nah, kalau di medsos Indonesia cancel culture (maaf ya belum dapat padanan kata yang tepat dalam bahasa Indonesia, belum tanya ke Ivan Lanin hehe) seringkali dilakukan ketika ada seseorang yang blunder, ini juga seringnya di sosial media ya kejadiannya. Berikut ini ada beberapa contoh yang terjadi dalam 1-2 bulan terakhir yaa

Keke bukan boneka: udah lah ya, ini udah familiar banget bagi siapapun kayaknya di Indonesia, terutama para pengguna media sosial, karena ini sempat menjadi topik panas yang dibicarakan lintas platform, mulai dari berhari-hari jadi trending #1 di Youtube, kemudian ramai dibahas di instagram, hingga tentu tak luput juga menjadi perbincangan hingga debat di twitter (kalau facebook ga merhatiin, karena jarang buka hehe). Terus, perdebatannya dimulai dari orang-orang yang bahas kualitas musik dan videonya, bahas masa lalu si Kekeyi, sampai bahas titik kepantasan dan mempermalukan fisik. Rasanya, semua aspek udah habis dibahas oleh para warganet, banyak yang mencela, tak sedikit juga yang membela. Kemudian, cancel culture ini dimulai ketika provokasi “report video” didengungkan. Banyak orang yang mulai ikutan panas dan benar-benar tidak memberikan ruang bagi sang youtuber berkarya.

dr. Tirta: ini yang masih baru terjadi dalam seminggu terakhir, sang dokter muda yang energik dan gaul ini pun kena getah dari cancel culture. Ada sebuah unggahan foto beliau berada di Holywings. Foto tersebut diklarifikasi diambil pada saat ingin mempromosikan masker hasil kolaborasi beliau dengan restoran ini, namun warganet menemukan celahnya karena di dalam foto tersebut dikatakan sang dokter tidak jaga jarak, seperti kampanye sebelumnya yang sering beliau lakukan. Lalu, sudah jelas ketebak yang selanjutnya terjadi, warganet memanas dan mulai mengeluarkan hujatan dan kekecewaan, biasanya diikuti dengan aksi unfollow atau parahnya block akun dokter ini.

Dua kasus di atas sepertinya cukup untuk memberikan bahwa gambaran cancel culture di negara ini juga menjadi sebuah tren. Dalam hal ini, rasanya 1 unggahan yang ‘dianggap blunder’ atau yaa kadang memang benar-benar blunder membuat banyak warganet bisa dalam hitungan detik mendadak kecewa dengan idola atau publik figur tersebut. Dua kasus di atas bukan pertama kalinya ini terjadi, namun sepertinya juga belum akan reda dalam waktu dekat karena penggunaan media sosial justru meningkat di tengah pandemi ini.

Warganet ini kalau dalam istilah Bahasa Jawa sering terasa “ubyang-ubyung” analoginya seperti air di atas daun talas, atau kurang berpendirian dan mudah sekali reaktif. Ada 1 orang publik figur yang ngetop mendadak karena berkarya bisa membuat dalam hitungan singkat menjadi sangat dipuja-puja, disanjung, dijunjung. Biasanya bisa terlihat dari naiknya pengikut atau pelanggan sosial media yang melonjak drastis disertai ratusan hingga ribuan komentar yang ditulis dengan nada memuja-muji. Rasanya, di era ini, mudah sekali orang terkenal mendadak atau debut -- istilah yang sepertinya digunakan oleh para fans budaya pop korea. Namun, jangan lupa, ketika warganet bisa membuat seseorang terkenal mendadak artinya warganet juga bisa melakukan hal sebaliknya. Seseorang yang terkenal akan bisa dilenyapkan mendadak pula, cukup dengan melakukan 1 kesalahan atau blunder, maka voila, kolom komentar yang awalnya berisi pujian bisa mendadak jadi ujaran kebencian. Habis manis sepah dibuang, begitu kira-kira peribahasa yang tepat.

Selain 2 keajaiban di atas, warganet juga kadang terlalu menanam perasaan mendalam pada sosok publik figur atau akun tertentu. Buktinya, tidak sedikit warganet yang mudah baper dan dikecewakan oleh ekspektasinya sendiri. Hal ini didukung dengan membandingkan sang publik figur dengan kalimat template seperti ini “Dulu ngefans sama X ini karena dia tuh keren banget, menginspirasi, kenapa sekarang malah gini ya, langsung aku unfollow/block”. Padahal, yaa, para so-called influencer itu juga manusia, yang tentu saja sifat utamanya tidak sempurna. Hanya, standar hidup dan tuntutan warganet itu terlalu tinggi sehingga susah untuk diikuti. Coba, kalau dalam bersosmed itu kita rileks, pasti ga mudah kecewa dan ga stress sendiri, ya kan?

kaitannya dengan pengalaman

Baru saja menonton tayangan youtube dan dilanjutkan dengan menonton drama korea. padahal tayangan youtube nya tentang apa dan drama korea nya tentang apa. kok bisa gitu peralihannya begitu cepat dari satu topik ke topik yang lain. well, you know, sometimes people are unexpected right?

dari kedua tontonan yang barusan gua tonton (mengulang kata ‘tonton’, tapi bodo amat), ada satu relasi yang menurut gua related (ok, pardon the word i use).

tayangan youtube yang gua tonton adalah conten dari channel john harris, di mana john harris adalah salah satu content creator favorit gua, video maker yang selalu menginspirasi gua buat bikin video kayak do’i, dan salah satu pengisi content di channel youtube vox. kali ini john harris bikin konten tentang dia yang menderita disleksia.

oke, disleksia, buat yang belum tau apa itu disleksia, gua akan dengan senang hati meng-googling kan hal ini buat lu.

well, first thing i know, ternyata dyslexia no longer specify as it is ini DSM 5 (buat yang gatau apa itu DSM, DSM are Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorder, which is uda kayak primbon nya psikolog gitu). DSM 5 adalah DSM keluaran terbaru yang mana banyak hal berubah di DSM 5 ini dibanding edisi sebelumnya yaitu DSM 4-Text Revision. so, gua akan buka saja file pdf DSM 4-TR yang gua punya, untuk menemukan definisi disleksia.

oke, ternyata di DSM 4 TR juga gaada definisi eksplisit dari disleksia, instead, i found this :

jadi intinya, untuk penderita disleksia ini, membaca adalah salah satu kegiatan dengan progress paling lambat buat mereka. dan itu juga yang terjadi kepada John Harris, di mana dia mengalami kesulitan membaca sejak kecil. tapi waktu itu, dia belum tau kalo dia punya disleksia. dan ortu maupun pihak sekolah dia hanya menganggap bahwa John punya gangguan lambat belajar dan menjalani banyak pertemuan untuk membantu dia berprogres. bahkan ketidak tauhan itu masi terus berlanjut sampai John SMP, SMA bahkan sampai kuliah. baru setelah lulus (kalo gasala) John dateng ke sebuah peneliti gitu, dan disitu dia baru tau kalo dia adalah disleksis. dan baru tercerahkan lah dia akan pengalamannya selama ini, bahwa dibalik segala kesusahan yang dia alami, ternyata dia mengalami disleksia.

relasi nya dengan drama korea yang gua tonton?

jadi gua menonton drama korea yang berjudul the world of the married (in english) atau bubuhwi segyelit (in korea). drama ini adalah adaptasi dari west series Doctor Foster yang nyeritain tentang perjuangan seorang istri yang diselingkuhin suaminya. hubungan nya sama disleksia?

jadi dari episode yang barusan gua tonton, ada scene tentang di mana pemeran utama wanita, si istrinya ini, kena hiperventilasi setelah dipicu oleh pasiennya yang tiba-tiba ngamuk (do’i dokter btw). menurut psikiaternya, hiperventilasi itu bisa jadi salah satu akibat dari adanya gangguan stres pasca trauma yang tidak mendapat perawatan di masa lalu.

nah, makin ke sini makin bingung kan apa hubungan kedua hal itu.

jadi, gua melihat bahwa, kedua peristiwa itu terpaut dengan pengalaman. yang satu, pengalaman akan keadaan di mana susah membaca menjadi keseharian, menjadikan pengetahuan bahwa ternyata ia mengidap disleksia membuat ia menjadi lega. yang satu, pengalaman traumatik di masa lalu menjadi pemicu adanya gangguan di masa sekarang.

mengenai pengalaman, gua juga punya pengalaman. kelas 8 SMP, gua menjadi korban kecelakaan mobil bersama kakak, adik dan bokap gua. kita berada di satu mobil yang sama, yang terguling-guling setelah salah satu ban mobil pecah mendadak di tengah kecepatan mobil yang bergerak.

gua, alhamdulillahnya, ngga mengalami luka fisik satupun (gua lupa apa gua ada luka gores dikit dikit gitu apa engga, tapi setau gua engga). tapi yang krusial di gua adalah, beberapa jam pasca kejadian, gua mengalami amnesia sementara, di mana gua ngga bisa mengingat nama guru guru SMP gua, dan beberapa hal yang gua lupa aja. tapi di luar itu, gua masih inget, kayak ini nyokap gua, ini adek gua, ini kakak gua. yang pasti lagi, gua juga ngga inget kejadian persis kecelakaan itu terjadi. well, waktu kejadian terjadi, gua emang dalam keadaan tidur di mobil. tapi waktu mobil ke guling-guling, gua sadar, gua ngga pingsan, tapi gua juga ngga inget.

ini ditemukan aneh oleh nyokap, yang adalah seorang dokter, dan minta gua di CT scan. hasil ct scan gua bagus.

terlepas dari hal itu, gua izin masuk seminggu dari sekolah, tapi setelahnya gua bisa masuk sekolah dan baik-baik saja. ngga ada gejala fisik apapun. bahkan gua ikut UTS beberapa hari setelah gua masuk itu.

keanehan gua rasakan waktu gua SMA. gua sulit sulit sulit banget buat mencerna yang namanya fisika dan kimia. gua remedial berkali kali, yang mana itu adalah first timer buat gua yang uda cemerlang sejak SD.

well, sejak SMP gua sudah mulai merasa bahwa matematika sulit sih, terutama karena gua ikut pelatihan olimpiade matematika yang mana soal-soalnya lebih susah dibanding soal matematika di kelas biasa. bahkan sejak sebelum kecelakaan gua uda merasa matematika sulit, tapi entah kenapa gua masi bisa mengerjakan satu dua soal olimpiade itu, dan gua selalu dapet nilai tinggi buat mata pelajaran matematika di kelas, pra dan pasca kecelakaan.

telusur lebih ke belakang, waktu SD, gua selalu menjadi yang paling pinter, ranking 1. well, ngga selalu ranking 1 sih emang, gua juga pernah ranking 2, ranking 3, ranking 6. tapi entah kenapa, belajar adalah hal yang easy beasy buat gua. gua bahkan menghapal semua materi dalam kisi-kisi ujian seni rupa gua, bahkan ke kalimat-kalimat yang ngga penting dan jarang keluar di soal sekalipun. akibatnya, gua menjadi satu-satunya anak yang dapet nilai 100 di pelajaran seni rupa, dan itu gua rasa karena gua kebetulan aja udah baca semua materinya dan gua apalin seluruhnya sampe gaada yang luput sekalipun. belajar waktu SD buat gua, ngga musti disuruh. gua tau, semakin cepat gua belajar, semakin cepet gua bisa main. dan pada kenyataannya, menghapal pelajaran memang secepat itu buat gua.

semua berubah ketika gua SMA. iya, gua tau, emang ngga sedikit orang yang punya keluhan sama kayak gua, gangerti sama yang namanya fisika dan kimia. bahkan yang ikut remedial pun bukan cuma gua seorang. tapi gua ngerasa aneh aja, kok gua bisa jadi se bodoh ini, selambat ini buat mahamin suatu persamaan, yang mana ngga terjadi waktu gua SD.

well, gua juga banyak sih menemukan, contoh, orang-orang yang menganggap dirinya pinter di SD, tapi keok waktu SMP dan SMA, just like me. mungkin gua juga bisa menjadi bagian dari persenan mayoritas orang-orang itu. atau itu ada hubungannya dengan kejadian kecelakaan gua? atau ada faktor lain? sejauh ini, masih misteri buat gua sendiri. tapi balik ke ide cerita di awal, bahwa sesuatu yang terjadi pada diri lu sekarang, dipastikan ada kaitannya dengan pengalaman, langsung atau tidak langsung.

bahkan tested positive atau negative nya lu terhadap COVID-19.

Beberapa orang mengatakan bahwa subscription di Youtube saya kurang menghibur karena memang saya memilah akun Youtube yang setidaknya berguna untuk meningkatkan kualitas hidup, hahaha. Entah mengapa saya merasa bersalah kalau waktu menggunakan Youtube dihabiskan untuk menonton vlogs yang dirasa tidak penting, hal-hal lucu yang ditonton banyak orang, dan semacamnya. Trace! Trace!

Outbreaks and pandemics often focus attention on the conditions that helped them to spread. In the past, this has put sanitary conditions – overcrowding, water supply – under the spotlight, and that is happening again in the case of washing hands, wild animal markets and wearing masks. But in countries with well-developed public health systems, might subsequent scrutiny fall on disease surveillance? Could better use of data have helped us to track, and stop, the spread of coronavirus, especially since much of the technology now exists?... Will we look back on an absence of contact tracking or health apps which record population health in the same way we now regard cramped tenements and poor sewage systems – or will the mere suggestion that this might be the retrospective view lead to changes that are far too sweeping?

A lot has happened when since Monday, when I wrote that for the Institute for Government website. The Ada Lovelace Institute had just published an extremely helpful guide to contact tracing, and various pilots are now underway. Much, much more on the various other studies and reports below.

In other coronavirus news, I've started a timeline of significant data-related moments in the UK government's handling of the crisis on Google Sheets, which will hopefully help us all understand how things have unfolded. It's quite London-centric and missing a lot at the moment; some people have already added useful links (thank you!), so please do join in and add some things yourself.
