#Aziraphale is already a BAMF

...I seriously cannot stress how much I hate tags like "Give us BAMF Aziraphale" because it seems to imply that he's not badass.
He IS. Tell me how well most people could endure 6000 years of consistent, persistent demoralization, harassment and shitty treatment without snapping?
Do you know how HARD it is to be kind when you've been put through a system that actively discourages kindness and softness, a system that tries to beat it out of you - not physically, but still. The fact that Aziraphale got through all of that and is not just still kind, but still has the capacity to be kind to the very people who hurt him, is fucking remarkable.
Aziraphale is badass. Period. Full Stop.
It's well past time that we stopped equating physical and fighting prowess as a measure of badassery. Just about anyone can exercise and get strong enough to fight someone. Just about anyone could possibly get weapons training. Neither of these things is half as brave as putting yourself in front of a crowd of people and holding off 70 demons with just conviction and a candleholder because it's the RIGHT THING TO DO.
EDIT: I had to add this while I was thinking of it.
I feel like people are buying into Heaven's version of badassery. Angels were made to FIGHT. To fight the last big battle against demons and Hell.
Aziraphale is a deviation because he DOES NOT WANT THAT. He doesn't want to fight a war that will hurt billions and destroy the world. His defining moment in Season 1 is when he stands in the face of the quartermaster and refuses to fight the way they want him to. Instead of a weapon, he chooses to find another way.
If anything, I would think it's leading to the idea that Aziraphale feels he must fight, that he has no choice, and then, when it comes right down to it, finding another way. A kinder way. A BETTER way.
By the standards of Heaven, Aziraphale picking up his sword and fighting would be Normal. Him refusing and finding another way is what makes him Unique. THAT'S what makes him badass.

I’m still thinking about the Book of Life because it’s such an obvious Chekhov’s gun. I don’t recall it ever being mentioned in S1, but in S2 it is highlighted twice as a very real, serious threat, and then it’s never brought up again. It can’t just hang indefinitely in the air like that, so I expect it will be used at some point in S3.
But in a way, this threat is kind of hollow when used towards Crowley, because Heaven can’t erase him from history, and they know they can’t. The Fall of Man is such a crucial point in the Great/Ineffable Plan that I doubt they would be willing to mess with that, as much as they hate him. He’s the literal Serpent of Eden! How can the Plan proceed if there’s no one to tempt Eve? The existence of The Serpent is such a core part of the Fall of Man (both in the GO universe and in biblical lore in general) that I think it would be simply too big a risk to take.
From our point of view, Aziraphale is also crucial for the history of humanity until this point. It’s not explicitly stated, but think about it for a moment: would Adam and Eve have survived, had Aziraphale not given them his sword? There’s beasts out there, and it’s cold, and she’s expecting already. We literally see Adam fight a lion with the sword mere moments after being exiled from Eden; I don’t think their odds would have been all that good without it. It’s at least likely that Humanity has managed to survive the Fall and thrive because of Aziraphale’s actions.
Here’s the thing, though: we know this, but Heaven doesn’t, because Aziraphale has been lying to them (and to God!!!) about this ever since the Beginning. What has he done of worth in the eyes of Heaven? Sure, he was guarding the Eastern Gate, he’s been on Earth thwarting demons and all that jazz, but as far as they know, he’s never had a pivotal role in the Plan (except for. You know. Stopping Armageddon. But they didn’t want him to have that role, and they still resent him for it). There’s no reason for them to hesitate, should they be threatened by his existence, because to them he’s not necessary to carry out the will of God (as opposed to Crowley).
So yeah. I think the Book of Life will make another appearance in S3. And, if it does, I think Aziraphale is the most likely candidate as its victim.

GO Fics I want to write once QE is finished:
Crowley and Aziraphale having bird-like (angel/demon) instincts but no clue wtf is happening to them. Ranging from cute stuff like their wings popping out when they're flustered/enamoured as a mating display (they have no idea why their wings are spontaneously appearing, nor why it is so important they must be IMPECCABLY GROOMED AT ALL TIMES). To more crack-ish stuff like a stupid mating dance (e.g. the apology dance. Cue the 'why am I horny about this?' thoughts) or nesting. Idk, I just like the idea that they're cared for even at the basest level. Plus I'm a sucker for "IDK WHAT IS HAPPENING TO ME" fantasy tropes.
The bentley x the bookshop, post season 2. This would be a forced proximity fic for A/C through the medium of their sentient houses (I mean technically Crowley lived in the bentley). This one is currently sitting in my WIP folder.
BAMF Aziraphale going apeshit, post season 2. I've talked about it before. Click here to read more.
Streamer!au. A & C are competing channels with a rivalry that the viewers think is more real than it is. C & A are just like "haha, I'm being funny, making jokes about my friend." but they never clarify that they don't actually hate each other, so their fandoms are at war. Half way through, someone in the fandom make an enemies to lovers joke and so A/C becomes a crack ship, much to the mortification of C & A who are working through very real feelings.
Feel free to steal any of these. QE is about halfway done... ish? So I won't be getting to them in a while.
(I've already told @mrghostrat that I'll be doing the streamer!au first, but I'm still mighty curious what you'll want next.)

Lost Fic #160
Not specific lost fics, but I’ve spent weeks looking for fics likes these and haven’t really managed to find any, so we’re throwing them out in the hope our followers know of some!…
1. Hello! I love this blog so much, thanks for all your work <3 I recently read "If We've Got Nothing (We've Got Us)" and this may be waaay too specific, but I was wondering if there were any other fics where Crowley calls Aziraphale "dove". - anon
2. Hi there!! I am looking for fics where Aziraphale is Bamf and everyone kind of forgot. You know something like they don't just choose anyone to gaurd Eden kind of deal. - @night-fury13 (we have a #bamf aziraphale tag, but this request has some nuance that isn't easy to filter for)
3. Hi! First off, I want to say how much I appreciate this blog. I’ve never seen anything like it in any fandom, and it’s helped me find some of the best fics I’ve ever read, so thank you to all the people that work so hard on this. I was wondering if you know of any fics where the reader is a child of crowley and aziraphale, is adopted/raised by them, or anything along those lines? Apologies if this has already been asked by somebody. Thank you! - anon
4. hi my dear, do you have any where aziraphale can't stop kissing crowley once he experiences it for the first time? where he literally can't go one minute without kissing crowley cause he enjoyed it too much 👁 (any rating) please and thank you 🩷- @loveofmylif-e
5. Hi and happy second season. So I once saw a summary of a fic thatvwas basically Aziraphale calming Crowley down with like kind of bdsm like stuff he learned from beeing in madam tracys head. And I not only lost that fic but I couldnt find anything like that again either, so I would love some recommendations If you know any fics that fit the bill please include the number in your reply! Thank you :) - @oneoldsock

Hi! Question 9 for Good Expectations for the fic questions. Specifically if there was ever a version where Zira got pregnant. Absolutely love the fic, so beautiful and sweet. And the art is adorable, too 😍
Aaahhhh, thank you so much for your sweet words!! 💕 And thank you so much for asking this question!
(Spoilers for the published chapters of Good Expectations follow)
As a matter of fact, yes, I did consider having Aziraphale be the pregnant one early on! In chapter 21, he and Crowley briefly discuss the possibility of their situation being the other way around. The fic would still have been mostly from Aziraphale’s perspective in that case as well, with the same miscommunication and pining between him and Crowley.
But for the story I wanted to tell, I realized it would work better if the pregnant one was Crowley. I wanted Crowley to be put in a position of vulnerability, and for Aziraphale to learn how to take care of him, and for them both to find a personal strength they didn’t know they had. The plot points with Heaven and Hell also played out more naturally (or well, at least the way I wanted them to) with Crowley being the one carrying and Aziraphale having to take on the role of rescuer (though this story has BAMF Crowley too!). Plus, I figured that a pregnancy story told (mostly) from the non-pregnant character’s perspective would be something different!
As for other alternate versions, early on I contemplated giving them twins. But I figured they had quite enough to be dealing with already. 😅
The timing of Aziraphale’s confession of love to Crowley also changed at a few points in the writing process. In an earlier draft, he told Crowley before the Tadfield Armageddon anniversary bonfire. But I also briefly considered having him confess very late in the game, because Aziraphale has terrible timing. Maybe it would have played out something like this… (a silly, non-graphic comic focusing on birth below the cut)
Tumblr media
Ultimately, though, I wanted to dedicate a good chunk of the story to Aziraphale and Crowley figuring out their relationship together. So in the end, there were no dramatic confessions during labour! 😅

There's been some posts around that want Aziraphale to be very badass next season. To show up, lick kick ass and take names in Heaven. There's been reminders about how he's a protector, a guardian and a BAMF, and should really go feral next season.
(Also some posts about how Crowley should do that, but that's not the subjext here. Also some posts about actually licking ass, but also not the subject here.)
And while the action movie and shounen anime fan in me appreciates the visceral satisfaction of that sort of thing, and I don't want anyone to feel guilty about wanting that, another part of me finds the thought incredibly tragic. That the angel who declared himself soft after Gabriel called him a lean mean fighting machine should become one after all. That the angel who threw down his uniform in front of his quartermaster and told him he has no intention of fighting in any war should have to go to war after all.
That's the solution? That the very first being in existence who gave up his sword willingly should pick it up again?
Well. He did already pick it up again one time. In the book to make a hopeless last stand in defense of humans, yes, which is about the only situation where that seems about right, but in the show he took one look at it and decided this could still be solved by talking. Or by threats of not talking, as it were. And it's the show we're talking about here.
And I don't know what the show's solution ultimately will be, but I want it to be, at least in part, because of Aziraphale's softness. His gentleness. The part of him that stops burglaries with baked goods. That deflects aggressive humans at graveyards with politeness, and in the end everyone involved benefits. The part that defiantly remains kind, even if he can be a bit of a bastard.
Or maybe even more than that, I want it to be his humanity. Humanity is infectious. It's a theme of Pratchett. And it's a theme of Good Omens. And it takes so very little. Gabriel and Beelzebub spend only years meeting each other on Earth, and lose their taste for what they live for, what is essentially their only purpose, and find their song (it contains information in a tuneful way, did you know?) Muriel, Heaven's biggest cinnamon roll that they are, couldn't grasp why Aziraphale was so upset about Job's children in the time of Uz, but one look at the world and they're amazed, one book and they're hooked.
Aziraphale knew Adam and Eve only for a few days, and felt so sorry for them after their punishment that he defied God's orders and then lied directly to Her illuminated face about it.
That's what I want to see, I think. The Metatron brought the most human of angels into Heaven by plying him with human drinks like coffee and human desires like love, and I want that to be his undoing. Humanity is infectious, and he's brought that infection to Heaven, and I want it to spread. All of us against them, all of humanity against Heaven (and eventually Hell,) except not quite like Crowley probably thought, because after all these years he still hasn't got the hang of us.
I want people-positive management style. I want the angels to at first be weirded out and maybe mutinous, but then grow to like it. I want them to get to know each other, not as coworkers, not as bees, but as friends. I want them to fall in love while gossiping about the weirdo Supreme Archangel who put up a suggestion box (because that definitely felt like a Foreshadowing, even if only for a joke) and then actually kinda like it, because some of their suggestions were heard and that's actually pretty nice. To be heard. I want them to figure out that they actually like to get some compliments for their work. To figure out that they actually kinda like Aziraphale's leadership style, and maybe resist when he eventually gets replaced for doing something off the wall.
(I may want to watch OFMD's first season again. I admit it.)
I want the angels to do things that spread humanity in them, like the cocoa going down Gabriel's mouth, throat and stomach, doing different things in every place, like Muriel opening a book and finding out it's just like people, and now they love books, and therefore people.
I want them to find their songs.
Maybe the angels also just need some baked goods. (Aziraphale had to miracle in the cherries.)
Maybe Aziraphale accidentally brings the six shot espresso Crowley angrily shoved at him during their latest attempt to talk with him, and someone tries it and likes it, and Aziraphale gives them permission to visit Earth to get more because why not, and it spreads, and the world doesn't end because where would the Heavenly Host get their coffee, and all of Heaven chooses coffee rather than death, because people are so predictable, aren't they, Metatron?
Maybe Muriel brings up a book and someone borrows it and it becomes this whole thing and they have to bring up even more books, and the angels don't want to destroy the Earth because they gotta know the end of some trilogy or another, and who knows, maybe GRRM will finish A Song of Ice and Fire after all, and Aziraphale indirectly saves the world not by being a badass, but by being the world's biggest book nerd, and okay, the bookshop didn't last forever, but it's okay, nothing does.
Maybe when there's a choice to watch something other than the Sound of Music, because the Supreme Archangel brought up some new films in the hopes of being able to watch literally anything else... the angels choose. And keep choosing. Because once you start, you can't stop, even if it starts with something small like "What should we watch today?", because humanity is infectious. Maybe they choose to taste ox, or sushi. Maybe they listen to something not by Liszt or Elgar. Maybe they'll have a look at a cup of tea.
I just don't want it to be Aziraphale's masterplan that goes off without a hitch. Or Crowley's. When have their plans ever solved anything? Their big plan wasn't enough to fool all the archangels that these were Job's new children, they only got away with it because of Aziraphale's status as an angel, and because Gabriel considered him beneath suspicion. Crowley's plan to fool Hell into thinking he only did a good thing because of being high on Laudanum didn't fool Hell, or Aziraphale, or anyone. And their plan to stop the Armageddon? We know all about that. The only successful plan they've ever had was given to them by Agnes Nutter.
Besides, seems like they're gonna be busy with Jesus, anyway.
I dunno. I'm rambling, and Gaiman's a much better writer than I am. But Heaven isn't toxic because angels, or even archangels, are inherently bad. We've seen that. It's more that it's a soulless corporate machine. I've heard the opinion that the book was more the absurdity of the Cold War, and the show is more capitalism is bad, and if so, I feel like the solution should reflect that. Putting Aziraphale in charge cannot solve that problem because they will always find some other schmuck to put in charge, same as they did with Gabriel.
But if the army doesn't show up because it doesn't want to fight? If everyone, not just Gabriel, says nah to the Apocalypse? If they just... don't show up to work?
(Alternatively, I guess they could eat the archangels. Put that gluttony of Aziraphale's to good use.)

I've seen several discussions about how Aziraphale truly thought Crowley would be happier as an angel again, and it's spun in my brain to the point I went down a bit of a GO brainrot rabbit hole.
Obviously, this is just how I read the scene and feel about it, but I think it shows Aziraphale's level of being affected by Heaven's toxicity that he could think that while actually knowing Crowley.
Crowley, who has never been silent about how much he hates both sides and the entire system. Heaven threw him out for (supposedly) asking questions, made his existence a literal hell while angels like Gabriel walked free. Crowley could only, no doubt, wonder how someone who should know him better than anyone couldn't understand that. But in the pain of the moment, he's not accepting just how much Aziraphale's toxic family is still twisting his thinking on Heaven. Even though Aziraphale has always made that obvious, Crowley kept hoping he'd change and sticking his head in the sand, but it's not that easy.
Aziraphale wants to protect Crowley, but he went about it in the exact opposite way than he should have to get what he wanted. Crowley did the same thing every time he pushed Aziraphale to flee. He only wanted to protect Aziraphale. Neither is innocent in hurting the other while only wanting to keep them safe. Best of intentions and all that.
The problem is, in my mind, Crowley no doubt heard how he could be an angel again and how things would be "even better" and translated it to "if only you were an angel you'd be worthy. If only then I could love you, not this demon." Too many centuries of statements like "I don't even like you" (and even during this conversation: "you're the bad guys") have made him insecure in where he stands with Aziraphale, even if he'd never admit it.
That almost all of those statements were a product of Aziraphale's fear and overwhelming desire to protect Crowley is true, but they still damaged Crowley's faith in his worth to Aziraphale.
Unfortunately, Aziraphale was so caught up in maybe finally receiving validation from the very family that have always mistreated him, but that he longs to be loved by, that he couldn't see that his offer could never be accepted. Religious and family trauma are a real, manipulative bitch. Where as Crowley is fully no contact, Aziraphale isn't there yet.
I honestly think part of season three will be Aziraphale finally accepting the system for what it is: toxic and flawed and nothing but shades of grey. I think he'll grow as an individual while standing alone in Heaven, being the BAMF he always has been, to help save humanity. I think that growth will only serve to improve and strengthen his relationship with Crowley once the danger has passed and they're free. And somewhere in there, he'll understand why Crowley rejected his offer as he did.
Meanwhile, Crowley already knows the system is broken, but he has to get past his urge to protect Aziraphale above all else, then his need to help save humanity will kick in. I can't help but see him as more akin to Adam at this point, more humanlike in his desires and motivations than either demon or angel. I think he'll choose to stand with humanity but eventually accept that Aziraphale being on the inside is a necessary evil to achieve the goal they both want: humanity safe and the two of them truly out of the system.
Like Aziraphale, I think Crowley will be better for all of it in the end, too. Even if I wish neither of them had to go through the pain. They're so codependent; they both need to evolve as individuals and then, after that, they'll both be better suited to be their us, their group of two, once everything all over. Neither focused on angel or demon, good or evil, but just us.
The garden will be lovely then.

A, E, F, J, N, S for the fic asks :)
OOO so many!! lets get right into it 😊
A: Of the fanfic you’ve written, which is your favorite and why? Ooooh that's a toughie... honestly, even though it's a darker theme, Hope has always been a fav. I'm really proud of the poetic way I wrote it. try try again is another fav though.
E: What character do you identify with most?  Is there a certain fic of yours that captures these qualities particularly well? Aziraphale. Immediately Aziraphale. I kin him in ways that I honestly don't want to lol. idk if any of my fics fit it very well, but I suppose try try again is a good enough one? I made a similar mistake as Aziraphale in the final fifteen (which is why it hit me so hard), so that fic is pretty much what I wish would have happened, for both me and Aziraphale.
F: Is there a song or a playlist to associate with [insert fic]? Well, since there isn't a fic listed, I'll just choose one. It's a bit of a cheat answer since the fic title is the name of the song, but You Will Be Okay was named as such because of this song! (I tried looking through my fics for a different answer, but nothing really came to mind rip)
J:  What’s your favorite fanfic trope?  Have you written it? PROTECTIVE CHARACTER!! Ohhh my god I love when someone protects another. Specifically when they stand in front of someone with their arm out. I will squeal over it every time. I know I've done it with Wukong and MK, and I have a few fic ideas with Crowley and Aziraphale.
N: Any fic ideas brewing that you’d care to share? Hehehe, on the note of protection, I have an idea for an Oospie!Omen's fic that's been rotating in my mind. @asleepyy how do you feel about Jophiel whump and BAMF Azazel? >:3
S: How do you feel about fan art inspired by your writing? I will literally cry /pos if anyone draws me anything. It's the absolute BEST feeling in the world to see fanart of my fics. Even if it's just a small sketch. If printer ink wasn't so expensive, I would print out the few that I've gotten already and frame them.

Reading rec - Good Omens
I was reading some Good omens fanfics and I think this series is too good not to share, even though most probably already read it.
Focuses on Aziraphale, with multiple delightful povs from Crowley, with Raphael showing up to apologize for the execution business and finding out about the abuse Aziraphale has gone trough while working under Gabriel.
It isn't finished (and maybe never will be) but i loved how they went about dealing with Aziraphale's platoon and his views on his commendations (and their existence, actually).
Has some nice Bamf Aziraphale (referenced/implied but still) and a tentative relationship between the ineffable husband's that doesn't get clarified but remains great and soft and all things I love about them to begin with.
10/10, made me obsessed.

Abraham’s Side
The time came when the beggar died, and the angels carried him to Abraham’s side. (Luke 16:22)
Angels are said to guide humans to their deaths, but what about other angels? Or rather, fallen angels?
Rating: General Audiences
Warnings: None
Category: M/M
Fandoms: Good Omens
Relationships: Aziraphale/Crowley
Characters: Aziraphale, Crowley, Metatron
Tags: BAMF Aziraphale, Hurt Aziraphale, Hurt Crowley, Metatron Being an Asshole, Biblical Scripture References, Holy Water, Suicidal Thoughts, Aziraphale’s Flaming Sword, Supreme Archangel Aziraphale, Post Season 2, Hurt/Comfort
Words: 1,143
“One of your duties as the Supreme Archangel is to, uh… assist the other archangels when their time should come to a close.” The Metatron explained as he and Aziraphale walked along the cliff’s edge. Soft waves crashed against the rocks below and the air smelled faintly of sea salt. It was a funny thing; being on Earth as long as Aziraphale had. He didn’t need to breathe, for example, but oh, did he want to. He could name every element, name every molecule and atom, yet he found he rather liked combining these things together. Hydrogen, Oxygen, Sodium, and Chloride on their own were wonderful, indeed, but mix them together and it was heaven. Or rather, it was Earth . He didn’t quite remember when he’d started to prefer the soil beneath his feet over the blue and clear sky above, yet here he was, gazing out at the distant mountains shimmering in the ripples.
Aziraphale’s eyes were locked onto the mountains as he spoke, “Does it happen often? Archangels dying?”
The Metatron hummed thoughtfully, “Not really, no. Every few millennia or so, at most, hence why it is your honor to help them with the transition process. Not much can take down a mighty archangel.”
“What about me? When I die?” Aziraphale asked, still watching the sunlight glitter over the water.
“What makes you think you’re allowed to die?” The Metatron scoffed. Aziraphale chuckled slightly at that, and turned to the other angel at his side, expecting to find some sense of humor in those eyes. He found none. Face falling, he looked down at his off-white boots. He terribly missed his old shoes. He missed his coat, too, if he were being honest with himself. As well as his tie, and his books, and his bookshop, and his desk, and his humans, and his friend !”
What did it matter now, anyway? He’d already given up all of those things.
The Metatron raised a hand and the two stopped walking, “Well then, Aziraphale, there he is. Though, now that I think of it, I do believe I might have chosen the wrong angel for the job.”
Aziraphale shuffled and shook his head quickly, “Oh, no, no, no. I am perfectly qualified, I assure you.”
“We’ll see. Go now, he’s been waiting a long time for you.” The Metatron nodded towards a black-clad figure about a stone’s throw from where the two stood.
Aziraphale raised a shaky hand to his lips and took one, two, three tentative steps over toward the demon. The demon in question had his head hung low and his face just out of view. His red hair had grown longer and was less put together than the last time Aziraphale had seen it. There was a pair of sunglasses to the side of the demon, alongside a golden ring Aziraphale had grown fond of wearing. In the demon’s grasp, much to the angel’s dismay, was a tartan bottle.
Aziraphale choked, “Crowley?”
“He can’t hear you, not quite yet, anyway.” The Metatron explained.
Aziraphale whipped around to face the Metatron, breath staggered, “I thought you said I would be helping archangels! Angels! Not demons!”
A shrug, “Perhaps the files need to be updated. He used to be an archangel, after all. And besides, I would think you would hardly mind confronting a demon, considering you’ve been doing it all this time without much issue.”
“But, but he can’t die! I don’t want him to die!” Aziraphale practically pleaded.
“You can’t change it. It’s written in the Laws of Nature.” The Metatron stated. “Angels guide the humans. Archangels guide the angels. And you guide the archangels.”
Aziraphale looked between the two beings frantically, “but it’s him ! He can’t-”
“To the World,” Crowley said with a wobbly smile. He brought the bottle to his lips.
“No ,” Aziraphale exclaimed and rushed to Crowley’s side.
He was too late. Always too late . Crowley swallowed and his hand all but immediately reached up to claw at his own throat. A scream on his tongue. Gold-tinted blood behind his teeth. Pain, fear, and desperation in his blown, yellow eyes. Slitted pupils focused on Aziraphale. “‘zira…”
Aziraphale dropped down to his knees, hands flitting about as his heartbeat roared in his ears. “Crowley! I’m here, I’m here. I’m so sorry! I- I don’t- I can’t-” For the first time in Aziraphale’s very long existence, he didn’t know what to do. He turned to the Metatron, “ Help him !”
The Metatron remained unphased. “I might have forgotten to mention, you’re not just guiding him to Death. You’re allowing it. Giving him access to it.”
“No , I can’t allow him to die! I can’t!” Aziraphale looked at Crowley, who was writhing in pain, awaiting the inevitable, wondering what he could have possibly done to prolong this agony. It was simple, in the big scope of things. He chose to love.
And in return, was loved.
The Metatron sighed, “It’s the Laws of Nature. You have to let him go.”
“No,” Aziraphale stated.
“I beg your pardon?” The Metatron exclaimed.
“I said, no .”
“They’re the Laws of Nature, they can’t be-”
“I am Aziraphale. Former Guardian of the Eastern Gate, Principality of Earth, and Supreme Archangel over the Hosts of Heaven. The Laws of Nature are mine to command, and they will obey me .”
Hellfire danced around the sword in Aziraphale’s hand. The angel laid a hand on his demon. “Sleep ,” he commanded. The demon slept.
The Metatron was staring, absolutely disbelieving of what he was seeing, “How dare you thw-”
“Begone ,” Aziraphale commanded. The Metatron was no more.
He drew hellfire from the blade and cauterized the wounds. Any traces of holy water evaporated completely from Crowley’s body. Any harm done to his true form was healed. Neither of them needed to breathe, but they wanted to. And Aziraphale breathed all of that want into Crowley.
Crowley woke slowly at first, breathing in the scent of fresh soil and seawater. Slitted pupils eventually focused on Aziraphale’s figure leaning over him. The angel could see his own reflection in the demon’s eyes. Crowley reached a hand out to Aziraphale’s face and wiped away a stray tear. He opened his mouth to speak, but nothing came. Aziraphale nodded encouragingly, “Yes, what is it dear?”
A tear rolled out of the corner of Crowley’s eye, “You’re as gorgeous as the day I lost you.”
Aziraphale pulled Crowley into a hug, arms wrapping around the demon so tightly one would think he was afraid the very wind might take him away from his grasp. His lips found the side of Crowley’s face, leaving tiny freckles in their wake. “I’m here. You didn’t lose me. I’m here.”
Aziraphale loved many scents on Earth. Seawater and fresh soil, for example. But his favorite scent, by far, was the scent of his nose buried in red hair.

A missed rendezvous pt. 5
Furious over how Heaven treated Crowley, Aziraphale lashes out.
Written for Whumptober Day 19 - "I'll take one final step, all you have to do is make me." | Floral Bouquet | Psychological | "I'm not as stupid as you think I am." I love it when Aziraphale gets to be a BAMF.

HOURS EARLIER
Aziraphale did his best to still his trembling hands as he steered the Bentley into the miraculously available parking spot in front of his bookshop.
He’d already snuck inside earlier, discreetly collecting what he needed as he kept a cautious eye on the outside. His plan would be no good if he was caught too soon.
The Bentley’s radio flickered to life, the gauge lighting up.
“Keep yourself alive, come on
Keep yourself alive
Ooh, it'll take you all your time and money honey
You'll survive, shake”
It was bebop, but Aziraphale appreciated the sentiment. He patted its dashboard comfortingly. “I’ll bring him back, my dear.”
He squared his shoulders and slid out of the car.
“Aziraphale!” he shouted, bounding over to the bookshop door. He raised his hand to his brow to shield his eyes and pressed against the glass panes, peering to see inside the darkened shop. “Aziraphale, where are you?!”
He jiggled the doorknob. “C’mon, Aziraphale, let me in – Ngk“
Somebody slammed his head again the glass, their hand tight around the nape of his neck. The fractured pane cut his temple. He winced slightly as his head ache, playing up the pain for his captor.
“Knew you’d turn up, demon,” Sandalphon growled, pinning him against the door. “I even let Uriel handle your little boyfriend just so I’d be the one to collect you.”
“What didya do to Aziraphale?” Aziraphale hissed, struggling halfheartedly against the hold.
He tensed at the Archangel’s humorless laugh. “Only convinced him it’d be worth his time to stick around and chat.”
Aziraphale twisted in his hold, slamming into Sandalphon. The bald man stumbled back into the sidewalk, a sneer spreading across his face.
“I was hoping you wouldn’t make this easy,” he snapped as Aziraphale glared at him.
The seeming-demon scrambled for the Bentley, letting himself get within Sandalphon’s reach. He was expecting something, so the punch to the chin didn’t stun him as much as he made it look like, stumbling back against the bookshop. His jaw stung.
“Bloody right I won’t,” Aziraphale growled, charging at the Archangel.
He hoped it wouldn’t hurt Crowley’s ego too much when he learned how quickly the famous tempter lasted against Sandalphon, but the end was far too important to botch things up by getting accidentally smited by the Archangel’s heavy hand. It ended with Aziraphale limp in the corner of his bookshop’s stoop, feigning dazedness as the rope twisted around his wrists.
The hood was unnecessary, in his opinion.
NOW
Aziraphale grimaced at the pain from the wound in his side and Crowley’s panicked yell.
He slumped forward, carefully choreographing his position to hide his hands as he utilized Houdini’s lessons. (He may be a prisoner, but he would be damned if he revealed his tricks).
“You bloody bastard,” Crowley snarled across from him, struggling in his chains.
Aziraphale grit his teeth, forcing himself to stay silent when Sandalphon removed the sword.
It had been a shock to see him covered in bruises and blood, even if it was Aziraphale’s body covered with them. His heart had fractured, torn between rage at Heaven’s cruelty and sorrow that Crowley had had to endure this.
(This is what the side of goodness and light did. When Hell had left him physically unscarred.)
Sandalphon stepped over Aziraphale, the blade covered in blood at his side.
“I’ll fucking kill you,” Crowley hissed. “I swear to –“
SMACK
Aziraphale bit back a snarl of anger.
“You’re pathetic,” the bald man snarled. “It’s sickening, seeing you carrying about when a demon’s death should be celebrated. They’re the enemy, Aziraphale – have you become so corrupted that you can’t see the righteousness of our cause?”
How long had Sandalphon been out of battle if he thought killing a demon was that easy? (He’s dangerous from a distance, as evident from Sodom and Gomorrah, but up close? Had he fought since the Great War?)
“Gabriel, please tell me I don’t have to put up with this sniveling coward any more?” Sandalphon called.
Aziraphale undid the last of the knots, the rope coming undone in his hands. The sheathed dagger pressed against the inside of his wrist, ready to slide out with a practiced flick.
“I suppose we’ve done all we can,” Gabriel said with a sigh. “Just be careful when you dispose of the bodies – we don’t want angels to start asking questions.”
Carefully, Aziraphale rose to his feet, fighting against the wave of nausea and lightheadedness from the bleeding mess of his ear. He glanced to the side to see the Supreme Archangel carefully removing the brand he’d threatened Aziraphale-as-Crowley with from the flames, his grip careful on the handle made from holy wood.
He met Crowley’s gaze – he wished they were actually his, Aziraphale loved his golden eyes – over Sandalphon’s shoulder as the Archangel drew back his sword.
Heaven had structure, a hierarchy, and status had power. The dagger Aziraphale brought was angelic, imbued with God’s grace and capable of harm.
But the sword he wrested from Sandalphon’s grasp was made for an archangel, its power matching.
“How careless of you to lose your blade, Archangel,” the Guardian of the Eastern Gate drawled as Sandalphon spun. He squared his shoulders, the blade feeling familiar in his hand. (He had given his up, centuries ago, and rarely cared to wield another. But circumstances called for it. And he was a Principality, despite all the jokes.)
“Blasphemous,” Sandalphon snarled, raising his hand to smite Aziraphale. (Later Crowley would tell him it looked wrong, to see himself, but not himself, look so natural with a blade – but not as wrong as it would have looked for him to see Aziraphale with it. “You’re so soft,” he would murmur fondly.)
Aziraphale lunged, wavering a bit from the blood loss, but Sandalphon’s blade found purchase in his chest, impaling him.
The Archangel’s mouth fell open in shock as he stumbled forward, golden blood filling it.
Aziraphale’s gaze hardened. “Then She can call me so herself.”
He withdrew, shoving the bald angel’s lifeless body at the charging Gabriel.
The Supreme Archangel’s wings unfurled behind him, lifting Gabriel into the air in time to avoid Sandalphon. His saber appeared in his hands, his violet eyes shining. His gaze landed on Aziraphale, face bloodied but footing firm, and then flicked to Crowley, his face twisting in rage.
Bang!
The shot echoed through the cavernous space, followed by Gabriel’s noise of surprise. He glanced down at Aziraphale, a petite derringer barely visible in his hand. “How –“
Human bullets might not wound an angel in Heaven, but Aziraphale was sure the Supreme Archangel had never been shot before.
“That’s a warning, Gabriel,” Aziraphale said, tossing the gun aside. “Leave us alone – Leave Earth alone – and this all ends now.”
“You’re a fool – You too, Aziraphale – Do you honestly expect Heaven to just walk away from Armageddon? Abandon the Great Plan?” The brunet snarled, his face twisting in rage.
“Then I expect I’ll have to give them a reason not to,” the disguised angel warned coldly.
Gabriel dove for him.
Aziraphale raised his hand, uncertain if it would work, and spoke a word of command that called a column of lightning from the ceiling and struck Gabriel.
It felt … right … to call upon God’s power, a comfort that he feared would have abandoned him (What if the Great Plan was the Ineffable Plan and he’d mucked it up all along?).
The brunet fell to the floor, his burnt wings trailing behind him.
“That … was unnecessary,” he grunted, his eyes filled with fury and confusion. (Aziraphale kept forgetting. This was Crowley, doing these terrible things, in the angel’s mind.)
Aziraphale charged, the blade high. Metal rang as Sandalphon’s blade clashed with Gabriel’s. He grunted with the effort it took to hold off the Supreme Archangel, shoving his opponent back.
Gabriel opened his mouth, his hand raised, but the blade Aziraphale had kept hidden up his sleeve lodged in his throat.
He sputtered, his hands flying to cover the gushing wound.
Aziraphale drove Sandalphon’s sword through Gabriel’s gut, twisting mercilessly. The Supreme Archangel fell to his knees, violet eyes wide as the light within them faded.
Aziraphale stilled, his chest heaving, as he stood above Gabriel’s corpse and then his knees crumpled.
“Angel!” Crowley cried out behind him, chains rattling as he struggled.
“’M fine … my dear,” Aziraphale assured him, feeling exhausted. He forced himself to rise, easing the sword from free from his victim.
His eyes lifted to the pillar of Hellfire towering over them.
“We need to go,” he grunted, hurrying back to Crowley. With his fading grace, he forced the shackles around the demon’s wrists open.
Crowley sagged forward. Aziraphale quickly caught him but his injuries causing him to stumble slightly. Crowley grabbed his shoulders to steady himself, and pulled away as his hand touched Aziraphale’s bloodied skin.
“Aziraphale, oh –“ the demon groaned. “You – idiot. You shouldn’t have come!”
“Not right now, my dear,” Aziraphale told him dryly as adrenaline faded and the pain became more obvious. “We need to get out of here.”
He eased Crowley to the ground gently, shooting the demon a demanding look as he started to rise out of protest, and drew the chalk from his pocket. With shaky, hurried hands, he laid out the symbols around them, drips of blood adding unintentional power to the transportation sigil. As the final lines connected, Aziraphale sat in the center, pulled Crowley close, and activated it.

Just saw another ineffable fanart of Crowley holding Aziraphale back from falling headfirst into something stupid and impulsive and hoo, boy, was unprepared for the realization of how their external attitudes (read: their outward obvious relationship dynamic) are actually the exact opposite of how it actually works. Aziraphale was getting himself double crossed by Nazis in a church cause he liked the intrigue and getting captured in France during the revolution for a couple of crepes, and Crowley is there to save him every single time, continuously following and keeping tabs of his angel, asking for holy water as a failsafe if anything ever goes wrong and you'd think, "Huh, Aziraphale would have died a thousand times over if Crowley hadn't always been there, what would he do without him," but NO. AZIRAPHALE WAS THE ONE WHO KEPT THEM SAFE. YES, CROWLEY HAD SAVED AZIRAPHALE FROM GETTING DISCORPORATED TIME AND AND TIME AGAIN, but Aziraphale worked for HEAVEN, and yeah he would've been shamed and insulted for it at great length, but other than so, getting another corporation would have just been a matter of waiting, and paperwork . Heaven DOES do rude notes, and they're ACTUALLY reasonable enough to predict a discoporation if they ever send him off to do blessings in a dangerous place....unlike Hell, and even then, Aziraphale probably could've actually handled himself, even if he never liked it. In a pinch, you KNOW Azi could've handled his executioner, or the Nazis, swinging fisticuffs and bullets. He was a Guardian of Eden, and they don't give away that sort of position lightly, ESPECIALLY if they were a principality. Aziraphale never actually had anything to worry about. You know what he WAS worried of? What he was scared about? Heaven and Hell FINDING OUT ABOUT THEIR RELATIONSHIP. Because then it wasn't about paperwork or corporations anymore. It was about breaking the number one evident, unspoken Law. If Heaven and Hell ever found out that their chivalrous rivalry involved dates by the Thames and drunken sexual tension in the back of the Bookshop...Falling would be the least of Azi's concerns.
And you know who WAS drunkenly in love and impulsive and reckless in terms of it?
CROWLEY.
You think Aziraphale WANTED to keep them further than arm's length from one another? Say no? Deny their friendship and acquaintance over and over and over again? You don't think it HURTS to see the heartbreak and sadness every time Aziraphale had to decline another meal,a night at my place, one more kiss on the cheek I promise? He was finally loved and appreciated in a way none of his brothers and sisters ever had ever since the War, by a man who had been with him as long as he can remember. If Crowley had his way, they would have been together by the 13th Century-and it would only go downhill from there. AZIRAPHALE kept them steady, kept them SAFE. It was a necessary pain, and he KNEW he was the only one strong enough between the two of them to do it.
As one post put it so fluently, Crowley burned his feet and blew up a church to save Aziraphale from paperwork. Aziraphale quietly broke 5 thousand laws and commited treason by handing over a tartan flask.

I’m such a sucker for Good Omens. I don’t think any single book or TV series has gotten its grip on me this quickly and this strongly ever. I’m absolutely in love with it. So naturally here’s a quick list of my ideal things to happen in the series in no particular order (most of which are fluffy because fluff is great).
- A wedding - I’m thinking Anathema’s and Newt’s? Or possibly Madame Tracey’s and Shadwell’s? But like just Crowley being all “I’m going for the alcohol” but really because he is Aziraphale’s plus one and there is no way he is missing out on that
- Aziraphale calls Crowley “My Dear”, I mean preferably more than once but even once would shatter me wholly.
- Crowley calls Aziraphale “My Angel” to someone accidentally, or to Aziraphale and then absolutely short-circuits when he realizes what he said
- A picnic because I WANT MY PICNIC THAT WAS PROMISED IN THE BENTLEY WITH THE HOLY WATER
- Aziraphale and Crowley hold hands - the very very small clip where they hold hands on the bus to switch already killed me so please kill me further
- Aziraphale and Crowley hug
- Forehead kiss
- Ruffling someone’s hair
- BAMF Aziraphale, preferably when Crowley is in danger - the possibilities to come out of that are endless and fantastic because whump and rescues are my favorite
- Ok but back to the picnic thing. Imagine they’re having a picnic and then Aziraphale tells Crowley to close his eyes and put out his hand. And then Crowley does it because it’s his angel and he’d do anything for him, so he complies thinking it’ll be something silly. And then he feels something on his finger. And then he opens his eyes and sees that Aziraphale slid his ring from the beginning of time onto his finger. And Aziraphale is all flustered and once again, Crowley short-circuits completely.
- GIVE ME THE COTTAGE IN THE SOUTH DOWNS
- MORE CROWLEY WITH THE LITTLE BUN IN HIS HAIR THAT WAS BEAUTIFUL

Fervent Prayer
Here is a piece that the amazing @singasongrightnow commissioned last december. It is a scene from the beautiful fic “arise, my darling, and go forth” by the incredibly talented @naromoreau
This was supposed to be a single drawing, but it became a small comic, as I felt I couldn't capture the beauty of this scene in its fullest (not sure I managed either, but I gave it my all 😅🙏)
Thank you so much singasong for being so patient and for all your support!
I can't tell you all how much I ADORE this fic! It is so beautifully written! so if you want to give it a read, here's the link: https://archiveofourown.org/works/26948512/chapters/65770183

This a commission for one of the nicest persons I've ever had the pleasure to meet,💖✨🤗 the marvelous @ Sick_Pineapple asked for a silly and fluffy scene with our boys making snow angels and playing with the snow.❄😍 Sick Pineapple commented something very sweet, about how since they are now free and as they begin their life on their own side, they might start trying things the "human" way, and I couldn't agree more! ! I loved this prompt so much!! thank you once again for your support my friend! I really hope you like this mini comic!! 💖🙏🥰
For anyone having trouble with the text, here's the transcript: Page 1 -We hear footsteps on the snow coming closer (crunch, crunch, crunch) -C: ... -C: Aziraphale? -A: Yes dear? -C: What in heavens name are you doing? -A: Oh! Isn't it obvious? I'm doing snow angels! -C: ... -A: Would you like to join me? -C: ... Yes Page 2 -C: You were right Angel... -A: Oh? How so? -C: This, Enjoying things the human way, it feels so... liberating... -C: ?! Aziraphale pulls Crowley to him -A: My! How philosophical of you! And what other "human" things would you like to try next? -C: You cheeky bastard!! Oh, don't worry! I've got a couple of ideas we can try!! End transcript

Forgot to post this one here
When you've been waiting 6000 years for your dumb demon boyfriend to kiss you and you don't want to wait any longer 😆
Reverse wall slam is my new jam 👌😆
(Had to tone this one down, the first draft had Aziraphale looking like one of those drooling anime girls 😅🤣, I’m a coward, I know 🥲)

Good Morning
Lately I've been wondering if Crowley has woken up already 🤔 What would happen if, when he finally woke up, he found Aziraphale sleeping in his room, waiting for him? I'd say he'd take the opportunity to gaze longingly at his angel 😍🥰

hey, tysm for what you're doing, i've found so so many amazing fics through it
i was wondering if you've got any where after the bookshop fire Crowley just loses his shit, like, the "bastards! all of you!" except he's acting on it, 100% vengeful demon after all of heaven and hell. doesn't have to be after the fire even. i'm mostly just looking for bamf crowley fics because i've found a disturbing lack of them? or even if he's just some sort of villain, or fighting demons, or or or. preferably not E rated.
thanks!
The bookshop fire is not a moment people choose to make Crowley a BAMF, and most fics link that to trauma for Crowley. You can check our #protective crowley tag for fics where he is more of a bad ass, and I have some bamf Crowley fics here for you...
Forget Me Not by Supergeek21 (T)
Aziraphale wakes up in Heaven with a pounding headache only to realize he has very little memory of the last 6,000 years. The good news is he successfully averted the War. The bad news is the Serpent of Eden now wants to kill him for revenge, or so Gabriel tells him.
***
When Crowley pops by the bookshop to visit Aziraphale and is greeted by the full force of an angel's wrath, he has no clue what he's done to incur such rage, or why Aziraphale is apparently reading his old work reports, but he'll be blessed if he isn't going to find out and win him back.
The Art of Creation by Bookwormgal (T)
Once upon a time, long before humans set foot outside of Eden and long before his inelegant landing in a pool of boiling sulfur, Crowley had been an angel. An angel with a very different name and far less cynicism. And that angel was made to build Her creations. He built stars, nebulas, and other beautiful and complicated things far out there in the cosmos. He shaped fundamental elements and materials into new creations. He molded burning fires and sculpted dust into breath-taking patterns. He started bright and powerful reactions, serving as a catalyst to spark the birth of stars. He set various celestial objects spinning.
He built. He took raw materials and built wonderous things with them. He built because that was the role that She made him for. In the end, was rebuilding that much different than building? And wasn't rebuilding fairly close to healing?
When it was his angel's existence on the line, Crowley was willing to grab at any chance available. He would find a way to fix what had been damaged. He would find a way to save him.
But I would walk 500 miles by Augenblickgotter (T)
There's a conspiring of foes from both sides that forcefully kidnap Aziraphale. Crowley is in hot pursuit and will stop at nothing, finding some unlikely aid along the way, and bringing up his True Form when the time is needed.
Some depictions of pain and violence, minor character deaths by Holy Water, and mild gore. Also mild claustrophobic and dingy descriptions of Hell. And the boys relationship can be flat out platonic asexual best of friends or downright dirty lovers. The story is up to you and is more about how far they would go for each other. ;) No, no monster sex in this one either (comb for my last fic if you need it). Just BAMF Crowley ready to walk 500 Miles through Heaven or Hell to save his Angel.
I've Got You by caffeinefire (T)
Aziraphale felt the change in the air, a burst of power and a whiff of ozone. He spun, and jumped when he came face to face with Gabriel leering cheerfully over his right shoulder.
“Aziraphale!” he smiled as if greeting an old friend, then clapped his hands together loudly, so close it made Aziraphale flinch. “You’re early, so glad you could make it.” He began to walk around him, admiring the circle beneath his feet, careful not to cross it. It posed no real danger to him, it had already been activated, but crossing the bounds of an active circle was never a fun experience.
“Gabriel,” his voice wavered despite his best efforts. “What is the meaning of this?”
------------------------
Hellfire didn't work, but Heaven has one more idea. And this time, they're going to force Crowley to watch.
Beyond Grace by HKBlack (T)
“Crowley, I need you to do what you do best.”   “Wozzat?”
“I need you to find me, and rescue me,” Aziraphale whispered.
After Aziraphale is discorporated Crowley goes on a mission to do what he does best. Recruiting help from both of their former Head Offices is easier said than done, especially when Hell thinks the whole thing is a ruse, and Heaven thinks you’re on the hunt for more angels to corrupt.
The Infernal Bodyguard by Santillatron (M)
Alistair Zira Fell is a popular author. Loved by everyone he meets. Well, almost everyone. Someone is trying to hurt him, and right now, he needs a bodyguard.
Anthony J. Crowley is the best, although he doesn't work with celebrities. He has three rules. He never gets too close, never stays once the job is done, and Never Gets Involved.
But this isn't a thriller. This, is a love story.
