#BASICALLY HIS CHARACTER ARC AND SHIT👏👏👏

And👏this👏is👏why👏Dean👏was👏out👏of👏character👏in👏season👏13-15👏
i disagree. taking a character and pushing him to his breaking point isn't writing him out of character. the issue isn't that dean's behavior was out of character. it's that it wasn't portrayed effectively. instead of wearing him down slowly over the course of a few seasons and having him get progressively worse, they had him going back and forth between being Fine™ and being Angry™. and realistically, that is how trauma works, but for a television show it just made it feel like his reactions to things were disproportionate or that they came out of nowhere, when they really really did not.
the main issue people have is his relationship with jack. dean wanting to kill jack at the beginning of s13 is not all that out of character. from his perspective, a nephilim (which he's told is an abomination that needs to be destroyed) is conceived via lucifer (which, i mean, it really shouldn't matter who the angel was but i'm not gonna pretend like the show didn't make it into a Whole Thing so whatever). cas says it's of paramount importance that the nephilim be aborted. the nephilim brainwashes both kelly and cas and now cas will stop at nothing to protect it. the nephilim tears the fabric of the universe, which basically summons lucifer to their location. crowley sacrifices himself to repair the tear. cas dies. mary dies. jack is not a baby. he's a fully grown being with glowing eyes and unimaginable power. now, is that everything that happened and is it everything that matters? no, of course not. but we have the benefit of not living that reality; we can be a lot more objective. so a grief-stricken dean who's just lost three of the most important people in the world to him is obviously not thinking rationally or even compassionately about what he sees as a monster (not a newborn baby). the way dean treats jack directly and indirectly during the widower arc is not okay but it's not out of character.
but then dean starts to warm up to jack and then cas comes back and it's fine. they're fine. dean and jack are cool, good even. but then jack burns off his soul and accidentally kills mary and dean does... all of that. and i'm not going to rehash the events leading up to 'moriah' again because i've already spent a lot of time talking about it, but his behavior during that time isn't out of character. it all makes sense. it's just that we've kind of already done this, just on a smaller scale. dean was angry with jack and then they were good but now he's back to being angry again. so it feels a little off.
but then chuck kills jack and dean is still angry so he lashes out at cas (and again, i'm not going to rehash this because i've already done it) but again, it's not out of character. it's the culmination of a decade's worth of shit. but they make up and then jack comes back. and things are understandably awkward between them but dean's not angry. he even saves jack from mrs. buttersworth.
but then chuck stuff starts happening again and billie offers a plan that requires jack to sacrifice himself and dean is like okay and then things get super intense in 'unity' and again dean is yelling at any and everyone.
and none of that is out of character. it's just that it feels like it comes out of nowhere because he's been so calm for so long. it doesn't feel like it's all building to that point in 'unity.' it just feels like they keep throwing spaghetti at the wall to make dean mad and then when he does get mad, the characters around him and the fandom are like 'there he go again being mad' despite constantly being put in situations constructed to make him mad.
i will concede that there are a couple of writers who wrote him out of character and their episodes/certain lines stick out pretty obviously to me. but. you know. that's not unique to dabb era.
the only thing that is fully out of character is the gun to kaia's head, and given that kaia gets over it almost immediately and then runs into dean's arms when they rescue her from the bad place, i choose to pretend it didn't happen at all. it was just a narrative device to move the plot along. (and also it was written by one of the people who writes him ooc more often than not).

In the books, Mal is basically a fuckboy at the beginning. He literally has sex with any girl interested and Alina is like quietly pining over him. Like there is something about him that attarcts people and everyone always talks about how good looking he is. Dont wanna spoil it, but there is a reason why. Its like Jason from True Blood 😂😂😂. At least, that's how I interpreted it. So when he says, "I see you now," it's because he was fucking other people while she just looked on and had to accept the boy she loved was overlooking her. So I get why people don't like him (theres other cringy stuff too lol), but he definitely changes. By the end, he is a bit more like the Mal in the show. So I'm glad they just made him like that right off the bat. I liked that they made him loyal and that he was hurt when he thought Alina forgot about him and was with the Darkling. Like he didn't realize he loved Alina like that and that caused the tension versus it being that he just literally ignored her and did not care lol.
I would say Sturmhond is similar to the show version. Comes across as charming, handsome, adventurous, etc. I personally just don't vibe with people like that, I'm very suspicious of them so when he showed up I was like 🤨🤨🤨🤨. What I did like was his story arc. Like the shit he goes through is so wild and traumatic. I have yet to read King of Scars, but I'm sure it goes into it more since the story is focused on him.
I know that Matthias changes and his story is...not the best. Like I get he was indoctrinated and lived in a culture that was racist, misogynistic, etc. And also literally went to a life or death jail. But it takes him a long ass time to come around and even start respecting Nina and by the time it happens, it's too late. I want to have sympathy for him but he makes it really hard for me. Maybe when I watch the show I will open up to him more.
I will say the Six of Crows duology was written much better than the Shadow and Bone trilogy. It's much more thorough and complex and just overall improved writing.
Like when they talk about Kaz's back story and his phobia and trauma. So wild. And Inej! God. Love her, but the shit she went through was disgusting. I also loved learning about Jesper and I think his character really shines in the show. Like people liked him already, but the actor made him even better, which is great.
I hope they eventually get to the Crow's story and the heist from the books because it was really well written and fun. It's a bit more mature and high stakes and I think would make for great writing. And I would loved to see the rest of the characters l!
Ohhh yep I definitely wouldn't have vibed with Mal in the books if he was like that at the start hahah. I love loyal Mal. I'm definitely gonna check the books out or at least like.. skim through it just to get more of that kind of context.
I totally get being suss of people like that, especially when they're overly charming, putting it on a bit much. I guess cos I skipped over SaB I didn't get that who tf is this guy moment 😂 I found King of Scars really interesting! You definitely get to know him more as a character. I also liked getting into Zoya's character, too. Another badass girlie.
I wonder if the show will make you open up to Matthias more or if it'll solidify your opinion. Seeing his prejudice portrayed on screen makes me vibe more with your current opinion of him, which is why I want to see how the show writers turn it around. I didn't dwell too much on those bits when I read the books probably just to give him the benefit of the doubt and see where his arc went but you can't really ignore it on screen.
Oh the trio <3 I am so fond of them. Their dynamic is just soo good. And I agree, Kit Young brings Jesper alive and I love it. Also Wylan <3 Beloved. I think they also cast him well! Essentially, this is just a well-cast show in my books, haha.
YES I want to see the heist 👏 so 👏 bad. I was hooked reading Six of Crows, I really hope we see it play out.

Still can't get over how much Oda put so much detail into making Zoro and Luffy's characters complement each other.
Color-wise: Red/Green (complementary colors wbk 😌👏💚♥️)
Food-wise: Meat/Beer (depending on your culture, but predominantly in Asia, Beer is best paired with meat)
Demeanor/Personality:
Bright/Dark - Luffy is a literal sunshine y'all got this; Zoro is pretty apathetic and he's practically always associated with the devil.
Carefree/Rigid - Luffy is the former for obvious reasons, he's very quick to act on what he wants to do, almost without regard in most cases (endearing 🥹♥️); and Zoro, has quite a rigid personality (imo) which is why he matches Luffy so well, the guy just makes him do things he usually wouldn't do because– love and loyalty, that's why.
Comical/serious - at this point, we all know Luffy is the dorkiest lil cutie in the verse 😩; Zoro has become really serious now though, in the early arcs, the guy was pretty generous with his emotions but as the story progressed he really has taken his role (in the crew, with Luffy, and his dream) really seriously. And I also feel like, he compensates for Luffy's lack of that, just 'cause he knows when shit does get real, his captain would, so when he doesn't, it's his responsibility to maintain the brand 😤👏
Curious/selectively indifferent - Luffy is adventurous, we all know that, it's what makes him adorable, and we wouldn't be having all this amazing adventures with the whole crew if it weren't for his curious nature 🥹💞; Zoro is indifferent to a lot of things if it doesn't concern his interests (swords, Luffy, beer, the crew, his captain (hehe) )
In a lot of ways, Zoro is the enzyme to Luffy's substrate (cause he's as is 😆). There's still a lot of words I could use but they're basically variations of what I just mentioned above. All in all, I really love their partnership, and if I'm being honest, I stuck to One Piece 20% because of them, 50% for the story, and 30% for the characters in general. Oda is truly a madman for creating such a masterpiece, I love that dude.

B, K, M, N, P? <3
thank you!!!! ^_^🖤🖤🖤
send some letters?
B - A pairing–platonic, romantic or sexual–that you initially didn’t consider, but someone changed your mind.
my friend yuuri got me interested in yusuke/ann as a qp relationship 👀 they got some really cute takes and fics abt their dynamic it's so nice!!!!
K - What character has your favorite development arc/the best development arc?
kageyama tobio my beloved..... askljfldhg maybe it's bc i just told a friend abt him so he's fresh in my mind but. he really does have such a beautiful development and it's so touching to see him not only be loved and appreciated and growing from his past, but keeping these connections for years and seeing how he learned to work in a team...... my baby. so proud of him 🖤
M - Name a character that you’d like to have for a friend.
yu narukami. hands down. he's my bestie actually we meet up every third saturday for some tea and catching up
ok this is where i started rambling so n and p under the cut!
N - Name three things you wish you saw more of in your main fandom (or a fandom of choice).
reading comprehension. amen
aslkjfdgh fr tho:
i wish people were more open minded when it comes to nuance and duality and depth. like i talked with a friend today abt how ppl just refuse to read goro in a nuanced way and take him and everything he says at face value and obviously he comes off as unlikable that way aksfjg but like you also just took away everything that makes his character interesting?? so obviously you can't enjoy him that way??? anyway. i have some rage abt that
polyshipping 👏👏👏👏👏 true abt every fandom tbh. i want more trios quartets and whole ass groups being in romantic relationships. i'd say p5's fandom is generally better at that than others but it's still lacking with anything that isn't like, some basic trios or just polythieves and it's a bit disappointing. so lemme tell you abt my ship of akira/goro/haru/yusuke-
more honesty and genuine creation. like don’t get me wrong there’s plenty of it, but there’s also so much cynicism, like with how meme drawings become more popular than actual serious fanart, or how on certain social medias posting genuine creations, opinions, or pure enjoyment just comes off as cringey and something to make fun of
honestly these are true abt any fandom not just persona akjsdhg but! yeah
P - Invent a random AU for any fandom (we always need more ideas).
i honestly really wanna see some superhero aus for persona ngl. like i read a fic like that abt p4 + p5 but they still sorta fought against shadows and such and! no! i want super villains!!!
i think when it comes to powers it’s just. basic mutants shit really. if anyone’s interested i might think up specific powers for everyone but like that’s not the focus rn so!
since i brought up both p4 and p5 i’ll just. go ahead and make one for both. not at the same time tho bc i kinda want it to mirror the games, in a sense
so p5’s obvious. the actual villains from the game, their shadows can even be their villainsonas and their goals as villains are related to that, they just work through different methods that are more sci fi than realistic, and they get beat by the team (who are still vigilantes ofc) in real life
for p4 tho! i think instead of a murder mystery it’s like, a mystery of someone kidnapping people and creating clones for them to sort of replace them? and that’s what their shadows are! and yu starts as a hero (with maybe teddie as a sidekick) to first save yosuke and then he adds people to the team as they save them. when a person beats their clone they get a superpower through that, something abt radiation or w/e, this is how the clones were created and having the same person twice creates a cosmic imbalance and this is how the universe corrects it idk.
i think it would ultimately bc namatame who created these clones, like he got some divine message about society being impure and having to replace the people in it with new ones to save them
no idea how adachi and mitsuo will be involved yet (if you’re reading this you’re welcome to chime in with your own ideas!!!) but i do know dojima is the cop in charge of the investigation and he gets so frustrated with this team of vigilantes who do his job for him because they’re possibly putting humanity in danger by messing with forces none of them understand yet and all those basic superhero tropes aksjfkhgd

I Hate Superman
“I hate Superman because he’s boring”
*Multiple Stories where my dude is a family man/Goes through existential Crisis/ Contracted a terminal condition which resulted in his death/ Talks about deep shit like the State of humanity with a Priest/ Loses his powers & still fights crime/ Presses a dude that abuses his child:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Superman 1939 #705
Prevents someone from ending their own life, by showing patience & giving a shit:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Superman 1939 #701
“I hate Superman because he doesn’t train or knows how to fight!”
Tumblr media
Superman 1987 #215
Uses super speed to perform multiple flying kicks: Martial arts (Batman)
Tumblr media
Action Comics 2011 #13
My personal favorite: Boxing, look at him lean into that punch  👏
Tumblr media
Adventures of Superman 1987 #581 :
Tumblr media
*Legions more of Panels & scans showing the man knowing how to fight & has trained with other people that are masters of their respective Art*
“I hate Superman because he’s OP!!!”
*Meanwhile most likely has never read Depowered/TRUTH Arc, where the topics were him literally being more human than he already was.
Tumblr media
Later on after fighting some punks with heavy weaponry:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Superman 2011 #40
*Probably has never read or heard of “DEATH of Superman arc”, where a character was specifically created to establish (at the time) that Superman CAN be disputed:
Tumblr media
*Has to have missed all the instances of him getting nerfed- (or how Clark has mental blocks to suppress himself, basically a self nerf)
or probably has never heard of Shazam, Doomsday, Wonder Woman, Maxima, Darkseid, Parasite, Zod, Mxy, Ultraman, Mandrakk etc:
Characters that can compete with him physically or the latter (Like Darkseid & Mxy):
characters that Supes cannot possibly beat in a straight up fight  without trying 110%+ & or HAS to get stronger in order for him to compete-
Tumblr media
Superman The Animated Series (Young Superman)
Tumblr media
Justice League “Twilight Arc” (Medium Level)
Tumblr media
Justice League Unlimited (LVL99)
And even then, Darkseid is no punk just because you got a training arc, this isn’t a Shonen Anime
(where you win with the power of friendship, a pop song, or You Say Run starts playing and a sudden powerup crawls out your ass🌈 )
Tumblr media
Superman has to seriously be on his A+ game to contend with Darkseid, if he’s not; He pays for it, and by proxy everyone else if he loses.
And If he has to try that hard against an opponent, then he’s not as OP as you think he is; He’s just way stronger than most.
He’s stronger than your favorite character, for some, that’s the crux of the issue.
They’re sick of seeing his name being the #1, and i get it. I was one of those haters.
And yet, most fight threads you find with a Superman/Super strength archetype- Superman name going to be dropped eventually, people just can’t help it despite complaining about op he is.
And he was est. in 1938, so if you think a character that old isn’t going to be strong af; i don’t know what else to say beside: “Cope”.
Because the ideal that everyone can be a hero, everyone can & should be decent to each other, and do the right thing- will never be obsolete-
Is why Superman will always be relevant.
I’m the most pessimist person i know:
Beyond my own common sense- Superman as a concept, reminds me why i shouldn’t think seeing the worst in everything & everyone is an attitude that’s okay to indulge in. Just cause i’m that way by nature, yet that doesn’t mean it’s okay, cause it’s not.
It can hold you back in life if you indulge in it, it’s okay to accept that there’s some good on Earth without strings attached-
That’s the point of Superman:
An example that we can better; That’s Superman.
Hence why he’s the blueprint of modern Superheroes. Beyond just the power levels, it’s also his humanity that makes him special.
