Namina Forna really said no TERFs allowed in my feminist fantasy series and I love her for it.

This was a really refreshing take on gendered magic systems. (A trope I previously believed to be impossible to do right.)

It was so amazing to see a character preciously from a sheltered conservative village fight tooth and nail for her trans and non-binary companions and put transphobic characters in their place, as well as be instantly supportive when they come out to her.

This book made my NB heart so happy. I can’t recommend it enough.

can you tell us about the knight and the hungry sword?

they also sound pretty cute hehe..

the knight's name is Deka! while out on a campaign to defend his kingdom came across a sword sealed in a ruin that promised him great power. being the incredibly loyal dummy he is, he took it in hopes of protecting his kingdom better! said sword contained a demon that was sealed inside a long time ago to keep it from razing the world, and its been waiting for some poor fool to pick it up so it can take over their body and get back to work!

...however, all the time spent sealed mellowed it out a bit, and now it just really misses having a body and food. while deka's able to resist it most of the time, sometimes he slips and it takes him over and devours everything it can get its hands on! stored rations, other people's food, other people....

it doesn't stop until it feels satisfied, which leaves deka himself with the aftermath of whatever the demon did while it was in his body. usually it leaves him full of something wriggly and VERY embarrassed, not to mention his bruised pride as a knight...

Was mainly focused making a lumpy cloud covered sky, and frost covered grass. But it quickly derailed as soon as it began. Ending up with this beauty instead. >w<
