remember this? well. let's go!

both ena and an have pretty famous fathers, and it was always somewhat expected of them to be worthy of their legacy, in some way. both of them were told, "of course you're good at art - you're shinei's daughter!" and "of course you're good at singing - you're ken's daughter!" respectively.

they were always perceived via their fathers, not allowed to step outside their shadow and be seen for themselves. they couldn't be ena or an.

and, you know, for a time, they went along with it. i mean, they were good at what they were doing.

but then... all comes crashing down.

for ena, there's the obvious bullshit that's going on with shinei. completely destroying her. because she admired her father, because he was the reason she wanted to do art to begin with, and he told her to her face that she would never be good enough.

her entire world fell apart, that day.

because no matter what she says, ena wants the approval of her father more than anything else. she wants him to tell her that she's worthy of being his daughter, that all her hard work amounts to something; anything.

but then, there's the eventual revelation that she wasn't anything, actually. she wasn't special.

everyone was better than her.

before, ena was a fish in a small pond, and of course, she was among the best. but now she's been dropped in a vast ocean, and she's small, and insignificant.

devoured by all the other fish.

one of them - and admittedly, the most important of them all - being futaba. she joined after ena, but she proved herself in much less time than her. and, even succeeded where ena failed - she never gave up, even when she was harshly criticised. never regressing artistically. never running away from art.

and there's something else, somewhere deep down - a fear. a fear that nightcord will abandon her when they realise she can't keep up with them. that she's not as good as they thought she was.

what will happen of her, then? she'll be all alone. unloved.

an goes through something similar.

she meets kohane, and she decides that this person is going to be her partner. that they're going to surpass THE rad weekend together, that no one could be better for this task but her.

but when she starts that relationship, it's with the assumption that she'll always be the teacher and that kohane will always be the student.

not in a mean, or pretentious way, no, not at all. simply, an was always told there was no way she couldn't surpass rad weekend, since she was ken's daughter. in her small pond, she was also among the very best.

but then, an realises something, too.

kohane is much better at everything than she is.

very similarly to ena's situation with futaba, kohane made much more progress in barely a year than an has in years. taiga - one of the old RADers, and somewhat of an uncle for an - recognised her potential, and asked to train her. not an, but kohane.

and of course, an is happy to know that! because that's her partner and friend, and an is happy to see her grow more confident and get better every day. because she cares. because she loves her.

but there's something in her chest - something that hurts and aches. she has to face the fact that she's not as good as she thought she was, that she isn't worthy of her father's legacy. that she isn't worthy of being kohane's partner, that she might be holding her back.

that she might be abandoned. left behind to rot.

what will happen of her, then? she'll be all alone. unloved.

to me - ena and an are two kids suffering under the weight of a legacy that's too heavy for them to carry, but that they can't let go of. they're also struggling with seeing their peers succeed where they repeatedly fail. they're all about being terrified of being abandoned because they're not good enough.

they're both confronted by this fact.

and it terrorises them.

when it comes to understanding akito, you really don't need much. just this lyric from kashika:

like, the kid's been through some shit, right? both in terms of external forces he had no control over and shit he's inflicted on himself. he grew up in a... very difficult household, and while it doesn't seem like shinei goes after him the same way he goes after ena, there's only so many times you can hear your father tell your big sister that she should give up on the thing she loves most because she'll never succeed and she'll never be as good as anyone with "real" talent before you start internalizing that sort of thinking for yourself. this is (part of) why we see him quit soccer the way he did.

and then later, when he first started getting into music and the community of vivid street, he was bullied and hazed by musicians much older than him. he was laughed at everywhere he went, and everyone kept telling him that he should just give up - that he would never be good enough to fit in, much less surpass rad weekend. and you'd think with how quickly he threw in the towel over soccer and all the shit he's internalized thanks to sh*nei this would have been too much for him, but here's the thing!!

soccer wasn't exactly an ultimate passion for him. he just kind of had (has; he does still really enjoy soccer) fun playing and he was decent at it so he figured this must be his Thing. what he will pursue for the rest of his life. there's a few reasons why he quit so abruptly. part of it is because in the minutes after losing that one game, he fully understood what his father meant. he saw the gap between himself - a completely average kid who just played for fun - and these other players who dedicated their lives to soccer, and it overwhelmed him. he knew would never be able to keep up with people like that. and with that, we're starting to get into the other reasons why he quit.

he felt like he wasn't passionate enough. while other people lived and breathed soccer, he was out on the field just "having fun" and making a total mockery of their dreams. he didn't deserve to play. not if all he was going to do was play like some dumb kid. (super healthy mindset for a 10 year old to have, right? A+ parenting, shinei. but keep following this line of thinking and you'll see why he blew up at kohane in the main story.)

we can deduce that after quitting soccer akito was pretty depressed. it would be hard not to be! he just quit doing something he enjoyed and lost the majority of the friends he had at the time as a result. and also he had no idea what he was supposed to be doing with his life. because shinei has pushed this idea of needing to "succeed" at something in order for life to have any meaning at all onto him and ena. seeing ena and other kids his age find their niches early on probably didn't help either. it probably made him feel like there was something wrong with him for not knowing what he wanted to do with his life (at 10 years old. really spectacular job you've done here, shinei!!!!)

and then he ended up at that concert at the summer festival with ena, and she encouraged him to give music a try. and that really, really turned things around for him. even before he wandered into rad weekend, music was slowly becoming something he loved. way more than he ever loved soccer. despite being met with rejection and cruelty, he wasn't exactly keen on letting this dream go. he found something that he could call his. he didn't want to go back to a directionless existence.

and yeah, he was well aware of the gap between him and every other musician on vivid street. how could he not be? he knew he was never going to be on their level. he knew he didn't have any sort of natural gift for singing or an innate understanding of pitch or music theory or anything else. he was going to have to brute force his way through all of this, and he was going to face a lot more humiliation and bullying as he did. and maybe by stubbornly clinging to music he was directly contradicting his own beliefs about passion and talent and dreams, but that's the thing about akito!

he's made up of contradictions. truly i don't think we're ever going to get an event song that encapsulates him as well as kashika did because it's the only song that's really tackled this aspect of his character. he loves music, and he doesn't believe he's worthy of pursuing it. but he doesn't want to give up, because he loves it so, so, so, so much. but yes he does want to give up - why do you think his fragment sekai gave him amnesia? in so many ways his life has become so much more difficult since he decided to pursue music and this dream of surpassing rad weekend, and a part of him wishes he had never gone down this path. it would have been so much easier to just drift along, wouldn't it? and after discovering the truth of rad weekend, that part of him got a little louder. for the first time really since vivid bad squad formed, he wanted to give up; he regretted not doing so sooner and dedicating so much of his life to this. he could have spared himself a lot of pain. but he still loves music so much... like an idiot, really. as painful as it can get, giving up feels unfathomable - even though it's so, so tempting. the mini amnesia episode and the sandstorm he has to pass through to get his memories back is a reflection of this inner turmoil.

when akito truly loves something, he loves it. his love is all-encompassing and fierce. he loves music. he loves vivid bad squad. he loves vivid street. he loves life. it's this love that pushes him through all those feelings of wanting to lay down and die. he is equal parts despair and hope. he is despair because he believes himself to be inherently inadequate in everything he does, and he is hope because he's stubborn and foolhardy enough to hope that if he keeps trying he might be able to overcome this inadequacy somehow. it's this tug-and-pull of these contradictions that's kept him going. this is something that even ken has acknowledged! if akito didn't have this unique way of knocking himself down only to pull himself back up a little higher each time, he wouldn't have gotten as far as he did.

but that leads us into burn my soul, where we see akito beginning to let go of this. what has kept him going for so many years is no longer serving him. he has a strong support system now and he has developed a real skill for singing and performing, so his previous coping mechanisms have turned into chains. if he wants to keep growing, he needs to start singing from the love in his heart instead of that wild, desperate hope.

it's really incredible to see him realize this - to see how bright he shines when he believes in himself. his passion is contagious. rad weekend and vivid street gave him new life when he had all but lost his, and now he's come full circle and is giving back to vivid street that same life. passion. joy. love.

this is why i love akito so much. i'm always drawn to characters made up of love. like, the above paragraphs aside, akito's really got a big heart, you know? he loves vivid bad squad so much it's ridiculous. you can see it in the way his gruffness goes soft around the edges around them, and his protectiveness over them. he really loves his friends outside of vbs too - kotaro and mizuki being the most notable examples. he loves his big sister. he loves ken, the father he wishes he always had but at least he has him now. he loves the virtual singers. he said meiko could put carrots in her dishes and he'd still eat them. he is amazingly tolerant of rin and len's hyperactive shenanigans when you consider how grouchy and irritable he is any other time. he is truly such a sweetheart.

his favorite foods are desserts and he likes his coffee as sweet as possible but he gets embarrassed ordering it this way in front of others. he gets the biggest goofiest happiest smile on his face when he eats pancakes. he's scared of even teeny tiny chihuahuas. he's physically affectionate - it's hard to get this across with the live2d models but we see their attempts at trying to show him slinging his arm around toya's shoulders. and he is literally constantly leaning on toya in just about every official art they're together in. he hates carrots with the ferocity of a spoiled toddler.

he likes hoodies and jackets that cover most of his hands. he once gave mizuki his lunch because he noticed she didn't have anything to eat. he sings and talks in his sleep. i cannot stress enough how adorable that is. he shields kohane from the wind so she can safely change her contacts. he pretends to be scared when luka jumps out at him from alleys because he didn't react once and she was sad. he teaches len how to play soccer. he lets ena drag him to the mall and just about everywhere else and even though he complains he could very easily refuse her if he actually didn't want to spend time with her.

he purposefully deepens his voice when talking so he seems cooler. he has the most blushing live2d models out of all the "boys." he gets flustered so easily it's so funny. he's very, very bad at math. despite the fits he used to throw at the start of the game, he now seems to carry toya's mountains of arcade plushies for him. he hates doing anything "cutesy" but unfortunately for him he is very cute. he's so special and i love him dearly

I saw a post on reddit awhile ago that said the arcs in the game are somewhat focused on one character, idk if this is true since i don't read every story but if it is, which characters have had completed arcs at this point? Sorry if this makes no sense lol

yeah that is true that most unit arcs have more focus on one character, not all of them do though (MMJ generally seems to be more balanced with the focus than everyone else). that said the character-focused unit arcs don't fully complete an arc for that character, just part of it. so they don't go stale after only a few events.

the first Leo/need arc was mostly focused on Shiho and her goal of going pro. At the end of Honami's first event, she gets scouted by STANDOUT, which then leads into the plot of the next few L/n events, culminating with Leo/need deciding to go pro together. their second arc doesn't seem to be focused too much on any one character, and is more focused on the idea of what their next steps to becoming pros are. at the time of writing they have one event in this arc left to go, but they did end up getting signed at the end of their last event.

as i said MMJ generally has a much more balanced focus. if anything you could argue that both arcs have more focus on Minori since she gets a lot of the most important events that have all the big steps in their journey, but the focus is still pretty evenly spread. at it's most basic, their first arc is "we're gonna be idols" and the second arc is "now we're getting somewhere".

VBS is a bit weird since they kinda have different plots between the subunits. Vivids started out being about Kohane coming into her own as a singer, as well as how An deals with all that. They're also the ones who introduced the plot with RADder, even before that became the main focus in 2nd arc. Meanwhile Toya and Akito dealt mainly with their own personal stuff in the first arc, and they interact with side characters more. Also both their events often involved the team becoming closer. Collectively there was an overarching plot about holding an event to surpass rad weekend, and they then held their first gig in their first arc ender. 2nd arc was An and RADder centric, I think you could probably work that out though. Again though, BAD DOGS was a little less focused on that than Vivids was.

The first WxS arc is Emu-centric, with her trying to uphold her grandfather's legacy in the park. it's teased briefly in the first two WxS events and then becomes very important in the last two events of their first arc. the second arc is more focused on the concept of the group having to disband in future, but Rui’s had a fair amount of focus in this arc, since it ties in well with his character arc (his 3rd event was entirely focused on the concept of the group disbanding, and the last few events have ended with him teasing something that connects to that plot).

The first N25 arc started off like it was going to be focused on Mafuyu, then from Secret Distance it shifted focus onto Mizuki (and Ena trying to help them) and there was literally two events after SD which focused on that, one of which was the arc ender. Second arc was very obviously centered on Mafuyu and her relationship with her mother I don't think this one needs explaining.

Okay think about it pjsekai x Infinity Train. Majority of the characters are average passengers or companions maybe except Mafuyu? Idk she COULD be the Amelia but hey, any OTHER character can be her. Also all of them follow VERY similar plotlines to season 2 cause of the whole companion stuff. And Miku is the conductor, I say no other words

Leo/Need

- Ichika and Honami can be passengers. I'm not sure about Ichika but Honami is a passenger because she was bullied a lot and didn't know how to deal with it properly. So it's basically her learning how to be brave ig (I NEED to catch up l/n lore)

- Saki and Shiho are their companions. Shiho could be a kinda human but Saki can a cute little dog (or a corgi? hehe) and Shiho is from the school cart

- Maybe some Honasaki or Ichishiho?? Ichisaki, Shihonami and Polyneed works too

-I think Saki and Shiho might go to the real world with Ichika and Honami.

- Everyone is companion except Haruka.

- Haruka joined the train after ASRUN disbanded

-the rest of the idols, Minori, Airi and Shizuku, are all part of the IDOL cart. They're all humans with some animal like features (Shizuku with cat ears and tail and minori having bunny ears)

- the moment minori saw haruka, she instantly fell in love with her (like in canon) and goes this whole journey of learning everything about her and learning lessons from Haruka about Idol(ing?)

- I think they do say goodbye but idk about Minori.

Vivid Bad Squad

- An and Kohane are passengers while Akito and Toya are companions

- Vbs kinda follows the premise of season 4, except An and Kohane didn't have the same numbers on their hand.

- Akito and Toya are from the street cart. MEIKO and Len are also there. Like in Canon, they both want to surpass RAD WEEKEND except Ken is different ig?

-Akitoya has their plot where they're actually rivals as they both want to surpass alone but they realize that they work really well together and in the end, they become partners

- An and Kohane actually meet from akitoya and similarly realize that work together well too and then pull a Ryan and Min gi thing where, in the real world, they're singing partners who travel across the world!

Wonderland x Showtime

- rui and nene are passengers while emu and tsukasa are companions

- ruinene were never close and actually had a pretty broken relationship

- rui was too insecure of himself and had low self esteem while nene couldn't hold long term friendships and just pushed people away a lot (rui being a victim unfortunately) and now the train brought them together to fix it

- tsukasa and emu are from the theme park cart along with Saki. They join them to bring some positivity and the four may or may not got way to attached to one another

- the four actually do get out of the train and become a theater troupe!

-I've realized that this sounds polysho, I don't ship it personally (I see queerplatonically tho 👀) you can interpret it as that :)

Nightcord at 25:00

- all of them are passengersbut separate and only meet after the train, their companion is kaito (kanamafu) cause that's funny and rin (mizuena)

- I don't really need to explain how they got into the train but Mafuyu has been in the train longer than anybody else and also has the longest number than anybody in project sekai does

- Kanade, despite being a passenger, does everything she can to save her, and unironically, it helps her.

- Mizuena has their own plot. Their relationship is similar to Canon except that Mizuki actually told Ena everything which got her out the train but Ena was still stuck

- Mizuki still stayed, and the two had to struggle with ups and downs of their numbers the most

- thankfully, they both left the train together and altogether, kanamafu and mizuena met through nightcord, creating the music group we know today

Lmao, sorry for rambling all of this, it's just fun merging your two favorite things together, I know the show is cancelled and all but prayers for the movie or season 5 🙏

So this is a borrower au.

BUT NOT JUST ANY BORROWER AU.

It's centered mostly around ya boi Akito Shinonome.

BUT HES NOT THE BORROWER NOR A SHINONOME.

And guess what. HE'S NOT IN VIVID BAD SQUAD EITHER.

But he is still friends with An, Kohane and Toya.

So in this au, Akito is a Touno. Which means yes, Arata is his elder brother.

So! The premise is that ms Touno and mr Touno tried to have a daugther after having Arata but ended having a miscarriage. Then they had Akito and he came out safe but his father (who truly loved the daugther) resented him, constantly saying that SHE should be born instead.

Luckily his father is busy most of the time but so is his mother so he is mostly alone at home.

"Eh? But Kenny what about Ara-" Arata is in college and has his own house.

Souma still got paralyzed and Arata still tries to surpass Rad Weekend.

However he does try to spend time with his little brother in the weekends. Perhaps bringing him to visit Souma too.

they're still gay.

Akito here has seen Rad Weekend but soon lost interest in surpassing it so VBS is now just a trio-

SO.

Akito here, outside of School life and Vivid Street is just some lonely kid.

He's resented by his father and unintentionally neglected by his mother and brother.

But he's used to this.

He's used to being alone, he's used to having clean the house before his mom got home, he's used to making and eating his own breakfast, lunch and dinner.

The only time he got to have company is when Arata visits him but that's pretty rarely.

"Wait Kenny what does this have to do with borro-"

But Akito isn't actually....alone if he has to admit it.

Whenever he's alone, it's alot easier to notice the sounds of small footsteps or a tiny high pitched voice within his walls.

In this world, along with humans also lives a rare species that was thought to be extinct are Borrowers.

Akito confronted to Toya about this out of paranoia and Toya said that Toya actually had the same situation and had two borrowers who are peacefully with him.

Its Tsukasa and Saki.

So after he knew that. He tries to get as close to the tiny. Maybe he won't be completely alone.

He tries to offers a few pieces of chocolate to the borrower or writes a few small notes.

Meanwhile, Ena Shinonome, a borrower who lost her younger sibling from a human that tried to kill them, is confused on why this human is trying to offer to her instead of trying to exterminate her when he found out.

I'm going to detail my personal reasonings under the cut. Note that this only goes through Samsa, so none of the fourth commissioned songs (which as of writing this are Aioi, Momoiro Key, and Kitty) were taken into account

Ichika (Ryuusei no Pulse): I'm... really not the biggest Ichika fan, and unfortunately that applies to her commissions as well. Ryuusei no Pulse took the lead largely because of the Virtual Singer version

Saki (Teratera): Teratera is her best song, no question. Close second goes to Stella though

Honami (STAGE OF SEKAI): It was really close and I almost chose Flyway, but STAGE OF SEKAI won in the end. I'm pretty sure the full version changed my life it was that beautiful

Shiho (Voices): I could have picked any of her commissions because they're all amazing. However, given Yuyoyuppe's Leia used to be my favorite Vocaloid song ever, Yuyoyuppe got the win from me. Helps that this is one of my top five songs in the game

Minori (Tenshi no Clover): This song... this event... I cried. Minori really succeeded in bringing hope back then... she still does of course, but this event just... wow

Haruka (IF): This is literally in my top five songs in the game. Also really shows Haruka has the voice of an angel. Everyone who says it's generic and boring is wrong

Airi (icedrop): If I allowed the fourth commissions, this would actually be Momoiro Key. I do not like Parasol Cider, and while DAKARA MOTTO More! Jump! More! is iconic, I just... really like icedrop

Shizuku (Metamo Re:born): It was a hard call between this and I Am, We Are. This one won out because we have the full version honestly

Kohane (One Sheep): I could have picked any of hers, and Beat Eater was almost the choice. I don't have much to say about it, it's really good

An (Awake Now): An unfortunately gets some of the weaker commissions. Forward is... okay, and while Machi is good, I really like what Yunosuke gave us

Akito (Suspended Animation): Easily top ten material for me, bordering on top five. I also just... love how it starts with Akito and Kohane together. Please give us more of that

Toya (RAD DOGS): None of his commissions have topped this one yet. Mirai is a good song held back some by my dislike of the Virtual Singer version's tuning, and Utsuro wo Aogu is... slowly growing on me a little but I'm still not a huge fan

Tsukasa (Mr. Showtime): This is one of the best songs in the game. It has perfect Tsukasa energy without being obnoxious like TONDEMO-WONDERZ is. I almost gave this to Eighty-Eight, but that's because the Virtual Singer version is absolute god-tier because of marasy's Miku tuning, and I don't like the SEKAI version as much

Emu (Niccori Survey Team's Theme): I almost went with the more unpopular opinion of Once Upon a Dream because that song is beautiful and while it's an odd choice to give Emu a lower energy song, I think it worked. However, Niccori is just iconic

Nene (Glory Steady Go): I have a confession to make. I don't think Nene has any good commissions at this point. I am not a fan of OSTER Project or kinoshita, which really knocked those commissions down for me. And the less said about Hoshizora no Melody, the better (I am so disappointed in Polypho). However, I do recognize Glory Steady Go is probably the best out of them so far, as the issue is mostly me not liking the producer's style. Don't disappoint me koyori

Rui (What Kind of Ending Do You Want?): Rui is another case where I could have picked any song of his and it would've worked. In fact, with the full versions of all of them available, it was a very close match between all three of them. I almost gave the edge to Showtime Ruler...

Kanade (Samsa): Another probable top five. Teniwoha does not disappoint, and KAITO is so good in this song

Mafuyu (Bug): I almost went with an extremely controversial pick for her in Saisei, but no, Bug is still probably the best song in the game. Let the guys sing with Niigo more please

Ena (Nomad): Now this is an interesting choice for sure since I generally prefer to go with the full versions, and this one isn't due to come out for a few more months. However, it's like the Charles cover but better and given full group balance. Can't wait for the full version

Mizuki (Lower one's eyes): If I included fourth commissioned songs, it would probably be Kitty, but it's really hard to say. They have really consistently good commissions. Yes I even think give me your night is a good commission, please listen to their solo of it

Giving the MAWS trio Project SEKAI characters they would consider their favorites and why (and other pjsk headcanons sprinkled here and there)

First up we have.....

Reasons why: I think Clark liking Honami wouldn't be so surprising since he's just a goofy little nerd who seems intimidating, but is actually a big ole golden retriever. Plus I think that he finds Honami to be a very kind person and doesn't like it when people call her mean. But he feels embarrassed for liking characters such as Honami or Minori since they're "girly girl" characters and he's not that. So he keeps it a secret from other people including his friends and whenever someone brings it up, he just denies it. Which is ironic, because Lois and Jimmy already knew since it was pretty obvious. (he also enjoys MORE MORE JUMP's members and music)

Up next we gotttt.....

Reasons why: Honestly I just think they have a similar vibe. But It's mostly because how Lois likes how An would keep reaching for her goal to surpass RAD WEEKEND, while with Lois, she wants to be a real reporter. And I've noticed how the two of these characters would keep trying and trying to reach their goals, without really giving up so.yeah. (On the day An's recent event, "Light Up the Fire", got released and there were English fan translations, she cried herself to sleep.) (she's also a big fan of Ena and her character as well.... And it's NOT because of her daddy issues..... Ok MAYBE it is.....)

And lastly we got.....

Reasons why: At first, Jimmy didn't really care for Mizuki at all, but when he realized how similar both of them are (both are very funny people who are mature and serious when they have to be and are also not taken seriously by the people around them and also JUDGED by the people around them. Such as Mizuki for expressing their gender in a different way than everyone else, and Jimmy for his theories relating to the Supernatural), he ended up loving them with all his heart. Plus he finds Mizuki to be a silly little guy (he also likes Tsukasa. ......Jimmy isn't one of those crazy Tsukasa fans if anyone wanted to know.)

I don't even know why I made this, but I just needed to get these out because I've been OBSESSED with My Adventures with Superman lately and I also like Project SEKAI so sometimes I combine my interests together

these group swaps based on the april fools ones mostly come from my… dissatisfaction with them. i mean that’s a weird thing to say about a one off joke but clearly there was some thought put into it just not any thematic ones which gets a lil awkward. also why did you put all the boys in one group. no get them out spread them apart that’s literally the most boring option. so, i think these combos are funnier and have like some workable story. that’s it.

theme of this group: regain lost childhood! because holy fuck! their aesthetic is based on like visual kei maybe i haven’t decided but i did want to make glam rock miku so we’ll adjust.

original name was i think oneiroi (god of dreams) for a Couple reasons but i decided to scrap that. oniiroi was a good pun though.

anyways, this group formed the same way the original april fools group did, though shizuku actually suggested it to airi and they pulled in ena and tsukasa from kami high. everyone’s backstories also remain more or less the same, bar the fact that saki instead watched just, the sickest keytar solo and tsukasa went “hell yeah time to make my baby sister happy with sick piano riffs”.

“you shoved 4 of the 6 second years in this group how is anyone alive” well champ. i thought they needed the breather from Chronic Older Sibling Syndrome

i mostly think the friendship dynamics in this one are sweet and fun and i don’t know enough vocaloid songs to make it work but i do want them to be consistently just going ham on their songs. just going all in on these hard as hell rock songs. they deserve it. they have the vocal chops.

this is their vent session is what i’m trying to convey. ena and airi are staring at tsukasa and shizuku going “are you. going to talk” and they both start dodging the question

theme of this group: just like the most ill-suited people for japanese idol work. hope is still delivered, the climb upwards is still constant. i really like the mmj outfits (this person has a magical girl bias) but like vibe wise for this group i’d probably go for a kpop idol group look. which is unpopular in japanese marketing but still

i wanted to do a pun on “messenger” but that didn’t pan out, so penumbra is a tentative placeholder. this is specifically in reference to kanade’s name and shiho’s names (a penumbra can both refer to a partial lunar eclipse and the outer edges of a sunspot), and just. overall the group could be summed up as “almost enough” yeah? there’s also the belief that eclipses are when communication opens up due to celestial bodies lining up so it fits

this group forms in an extremely complicated way ngl but an and akito’s goal is still to surpass rad weekend (in a different way. this might be undermining their integrity as musicians if i’m being honest) and they’re a bit. bitter about things. shiho is similarly bitter at her sister though things are still pretty close to canon things just got changed a little. kanade’s backstory is exactly the same and how she gets into the group is also just like the april fools version where she was just going to compose the group’s songs in the background but she got pulled in the spotlight instead. the group finds a lot of inspiration from kanade. secretly.

this was like one the first groups i wanted to changed and swap, mostly because of 1) there’s too many cool colors in the april fools swap! hell! kanade is dying in the warm color gang. akito’s here to break that up a little. and 2) i wanted the boys to Not be relegated to one group, that felt… insulting. slightly smaller reason is that i’m pretty sure akito is a canon idol fan so while i think he’d be embarrassed and not Enjoying his masculinity being “tarnished” by the public, i still think he’s doing okay. something about those “i put akito in a mmj video to torture him” videos rub me the wrong way.

the baggage gang. so much. so much in fact their miku initially calls them “the worst idol candidates i’ve ever seen. kanade at least shows some promise, she wants to have people with her music, ‘hope’ is just another form of that. you can’t treat idol-hood as just a different avenue for your pipe dreams.”

shiho’s pissed. akito’s pissed. an isn’t really but something starts gnawing at her.

same as canon, a little more permanently though, because like. yeah.

this plays out like a precure season but with better character writing, so every event they defeat the bad guys (old traumas and history haunting each other) and learn a moral at the end! (everyone’s smiles become a bit more real and emu worries a little less)

theme of this group: childhood friends stumble into the brand new world of street music and fashion! investigate the mysteries of shibuyu and vivid street together as you dance around your baggage!

this one was made because i switched some people and everyone got grouped up here but hey i think this works! two sets of childhood friends, partner edition!

basically we take all their casual outfits and crank them up to 11 in a specific fashion subculture, like ichika is full on pink now, saki leans harder into old school hime gyaru, mizuki goes all in on the lolita look, and rui really looks like a 2000’s scene kid.

what they actually do is preform shows (dj4dj style) where mizuki and rui are in the back supporting ichika and saki preforming in the front.

i think they all spend their spare time solving urban mysteries together both the silly and real. top of the list is “who were the rising stars of vivid street, and why did they abandon it and rad weekend?” occasionally ichika wonders if that curiosity should be directed inward towards their little group but she isn’t… sure if she should pry.

theme of this group: all of their dreams have been destroyed and it’s coping time! they talk about their hobbies at 1 am and yearn

i like to think sometimes nene and toya get into an autism music special interest feedback loop and honami is just smiling while minori is losing it trying to keep up with them.

because they only talk at 1 am there’s a very deep melancholy permeating through all their chats. minori is the only one to actively talk about her dreams but even she dodges directly talking about it by talking about idols instead. toya doesn’t… have a lot to talk about since he doesn’t have akito to hang out with so he just talks about the arcade. nene talks about her games which everyone tries to understand but once she gets into meta gaming all hope is lost. honami gives them all a lot of housework advice and they all love it when both honami and minori send in their dogs. but in general it’s… a bit quiet.

their sekai costumes reference what their sekai costumes would look like if their dreams where being chased, except toya who never found that dream. he’s dressed like a composer instead.

Nigo “迷い子の手を引く、そのさきは“ Event Summary

I suggest to read this event after read hanamiyazaka school festival story (for MafuyuEmu interaction)

Card : Mafuyu Mizuki Len nigo + Ena Kanade

Feature : Nigo members (aside Kaito still not appears in their sekai) + Emu

Summary : Mizuki suggest to go to Wonderland Night Show for helping Kanade with next song idea, on the other side Mafuyu started her study for university exam then having some conflict with her mother after found a synthesizers which should be throw away before inside Mafuyu room.

The stories tells around Mafuyu struggle and a bit past when she's lost at theme park. While at first she declined join with members for theme park because of mock exam in the end she came there and rebel on her mother

In short this is about Mafuyu and her perfectionist mother in deeper than before. And if everyone notice her mother moreless like most Asian mothers do ! Saying things like "being a good kids or I won't love you" and "just listen to me it's for your future'' without know the real meaning to their kids...

And this story are TBC, at the end of story her mother notice a sign of rebelling after Mafuyu call and tell her that she's with her friends. When founds a should throw away synthesizers at her room Mafuyu get asked about it and she tells about making music with her friends for future reference and of course her mother asked around their inteligent and school achievement which make her disapprove the idea then ordering her to quit playing around yeah order she's not even asked her

Mentionable time and place plus cards :

These two cards happened at same scenes, Mizuki asked all member to come to Sekai for introducing Len Nigo (he’s really cutie~) 

Len Nigo moreless having shy personality and morelike cute brother type and somehow in this Sekai Len and Rin aren’t twins as Len seems keep a distance to everyone include Virtual Singers ...

This card happened at theme park, as Mafuyu want to buy a drink to Ena Kanade after riding some game but she get lost along the way back. The other tell her wait there and find her, Kanade hold her hand so she won't get separated again. Then she feels a bit warm from Kanade hand while it's different with her mother cold hand...

I don't remember seeing this scene along the way so maybe untelling stories at Wonderland theme park as mostly we don't know what happened at their night time.

Just read Ena and Kanade card, there's nothing at Ena but Kanade one telling a bit about night show scenes (so more details into Mafuyu card I guess...) and afterstory. In the end Mafuyu just comeback home then seems something happened there Kanade POV doesn't tell in detail but I can second guessing though. So Mafuyu just tells she won't join nigo chat mostly but still doing her job there

Rarity, somehow still agreed as Kanade mostly getting *4 for Nigo centric stories so sometimes she should demoted to *2 (lol) but yeah this line up pretty good itself

Bug (Theme Song), pretty resemble with Bocca della Verità at some parts but having different genre like this sounds good for refresher~ and turn out Kairiki Bear making venom song 🤣

I think Kairiki Bear really doing a good job for lyrics, I can't say for sure but Mafuyu struggle for keeping her mother high expectation sounds real there and sounds like she's gonna throw up soon...

I kinda like the theme especially Mafuyu one, living at castle (maybe or somewhere along the way) but warped in vines with suffered face, pointing her growth since until now we only saw her blank face. 

I want Len (his after change pretty good) so already try 30 pull and of course nill~ but in the end I gathered 30 ticket and exchange Touya Rad Dogs so I’m still happy

-Kyle would want to see the elder dragon in battle, even though he was a little hesitant. As far as he knew, elder dragons like Xenojiiva were one in a million, meaning they were extremely dangerous. Plus, he’s heard that this is just the baby. However, he secretly fangirls over your monstie’s power, but will act all suspicious of it otherwise.

Reverto

-Reverto is a skilled hunter who probably has either assisted or heard from other hunters about a Xenojiiva hunt. He knows that the elder dragon is dangerous due to it absorbing the bio energy of other elder dragons. However, he’s also lived on the ideal that riders and their monsties are pretty rad, so he has no reason to believe that you can’t control this elder dragon.

-That said, Reverto is still going to flinch each time that thing roars or fights. He can’t suppress those innate responses when an elder dragon is in the vicinity, even when that elder dragon is your monstie. Plus, your Xenojiiva is still bigger than the average monstie, so he’s a little wary. However, you still catch him giving your monstie plenty of pets.

Cheval

-Cheval has tried to “bond” with a legendary elder dragon before, and we all know how that turned out. He would be worried, at first, that a Xenojiiva would be too much for you. He’s heard about this elder dragon from Lilia and wants to make sure that you wouldn’t get hurt. However, Cheval knows your skills as a rider, and as time passes, he comes to see that his worries were silly.

-After that, he comes to have childlike wonder and awe at Xenojiiva. The alien-like beauty of this monster seems to put him in a trance. Rathi also really likes your elder dragon, and you can find her curled up beside it. Maybe because the glow it comforting? Who knows, but Cheval knows he appreciates it whenever you guys camp out.

Alwin

-When you’re with one of the most overprotective men on the planet, you can bet that he would be highly cautious of a Xenojiiva. He’s lived long enough to see the terror and destruction elder dragons can bring. Now, while he trusts your bond with your monstie, he still wants to see some sort of proof that it can be controlled before being fully trusting.

-In a sense, the wyverian wants to see you fight. Alwin feels he can get a real sense for a rider’s bond with their monstie when they fight together. Afterwards, you start to see that your Xenojiiva seems to like Alwin quite a bit, much to the wyverian’s chagrin. In fact, Shaulk gets the urge to come and get attention from you since Alwin is too busy with your monstie. The scene of a frightened wyverian being tailed by a baby Jiiva is rather hilarious.

Lilia

-Of course, this girl would be super intrigued to see such a tame Xenojiiva. All her sources and investigations told her much about this elder dragon, but it’s different when you get to see it with your own eyes. Lilia would be all over your monstie, down to the last of its alien-like eyes. In fact, your monstie enjoyed the attention very much.

-You would think that an elder dragon like Xenojiiva would be afraid of all the attention, but your monstie actually seems to like Lilia more than you. Perhaps it was because she fed it to keep it around her, but that’s beside the point. You just loved that she was easing the tension with the hunters. Now, if only you can agree to get Lilia on its back.

Ena

-Ena knew she should be a bit hesitant when it came to a Xenojiiva, but she was mostly awestruck by its beauty. She’s never seen a monster that looked like it came from a fairytale. The wyverian doesn’t believe any of the rumors about Xenojiiva bringing destruction or whatnot. Through her eyes, your monstie is just a baby in need of some guidance and a gentle hand.

-You can catch her trying to draw cute little sketches of your monstie. Also, your Xenojiiva likes her nature a lot, and you can find its whispy little head resting in her lap. Ena is always wanting your monstie in top condition. You can find her making sure it’s healthy and getting enough food. Basically, Ena is the second mother to your elder dragon.

Kayna

-Kayna would freak out, but in an obsessive fangirl type of way. She would marvel over every inch of your elder dragon, even though she has no clue what it is. After telling her about Xenojiiva, you can bet that this chaotic woman wants to see its power. In fact, she even tries to hop on once or twice.

-She just can’t help it because it looks so cool. Avmar gets jealous and a little insecure about her obsession, which leads to a bit of fighting that is difficult to break up. However, it takes a long while for the two of you to get the monsties to get along. Even afterwards, your Xenojiiva still loves getting on the velocidrome’s nerves, just like a child.

Avinia

-Avinia likes to believe that she is a calm and collected person, but even she couldn’t stop the little scream that came out of her mouth when she set eyes on your Xenojiiva. To her, it looked more like an insect than an alien, which freaked her out slightly. Add in the fact that it’s a dangerous elder dragon, and you have Avinia being a bit put off.

-Frostfang continuously sees your monstie as a threat but learns to calm down after fighting alongside it. Frostfang’s gradually acceptance of your Xenojiiva has caused Avinia to warm up to it as well. However, she will always deny it because she is stubborn like that. Although, you can catch her making little snippets of drawing it in a journal she had.

Oh god, I bought Rogue Legacy 2 and Slay the Spire and I’ve been so distracted playing them that the Stray Bad Dogs event snuck up on me. I’ve barely been checking tumblr and twitter and just happened to notice bc the L/n event ended last night. Anyways, I decided to do some scrolling thru tumblr and decided to make some random HCs that I couldn’t figure out how to make into longer posts. Just gonna be something fun and kinda scrambled thoughts I’m dumping into one post. I think I did something similar one time but it ended up being only 25ji HCs, but this time I’ll try to do more than them. Let’s gooo.

MMJ HC

Assuming that MMJ is using something like YT or Twitch to stream their stuff, I like to think that MMJ’s friends end up getting mod status or something similar. Eventually MMJ get full-time mods that aren’t their friends, but I think it’d be cute if the other characters pop in to watch the streams when they can and end up helping out if they’re there.

Kohane and An would type messages to cheer on MMJ as well as reminding ppl to be respectful.

Shiho, Ena, and An also end up being the ones to block spammers and delete more hateful messages. Bc there’s always going to be trolls, but hopefully other fans also help out too.

I’d like if Nene helps out with modding in general too, but I’m not sure how close Nene is with MMJ. I think she might be friends with Minori after Scramble Fest, but it’s hard to say.

If it’s Twitch, maybe Mizuki ends up helping out by making highlight vids every once in awhile (I think Mizuki is a fan anyways so not out of bounds).

All their friends usually end up reblogging/retweeting posts about special events for MMJ.

Like obviously the other characters aren’t full time and are just helping out when they can, but I always wonder how well MMJ is handling the more streaming live/online videos aspect of their careers at this point. I know that the latest Haruka event in JP talked about a new producer for the group, a not Tik Tok app, and MMJ getting flamed bc of a new song sounding similar to another one as well as showing Haruka dealing with her previous feelings about her temporary retirement. This is all based on what I saw on Twitter and some machine translations, but I’d rather not form assumptions based on machine translations and unfortunately there aren’t any fan translations for the event online so I guess I’ll just wait for now.  

VBS

So something I’ve never been able to clearly remember, did Akito ever properly apologize to Kohane about the whole stage lights thing in the main story? I feel like Kohane and An just sorta forgave him after learning the truth, but Akito himself never actually said ‘I’m sorry’. So I kinda want Akito to at some point to properly say that he is sorry to Kohane. Bc even if he wasn’t the one to close the lights, he still intended to try to scare off Kohane bc he didn’t think she was serious about performing music. Now I get it, Akito is super serious about music and thinks that if you’re saying you want to surpass Rad Weekend, you need to be serious. However, Kohane was still a rookie at the time. Just bc she was still new, it didn’t mean she wasn’t serious about it. Akito was new at some point too and had to learn about Vivid Street and music too before realizing his dream more. So I guess it just sorta rubs me the wrong way that Akito tried so hard to scare off Kohane, bc Akito himself was a rookie too at the start and he didn’t give Kohane a chance to pursue the dream. I also wonder if Akito has high-ish standards for An since she’s Ken’s daughter and is serious (in his POV) about surpassing RW, so in a way he felt like An wasn’t living up to his standards. I should probably have reread the main story before typing this, but Akito’s actions and attitude in the main story always seemed pretty hypocritical and petty to me, so I kinda just want him to sit down with Kohane and give a proper apology.

I know it seems like I dislike Akito from this, but I honestly like the guy. Out of all the guys in Proseka, he’s actually my favorite alongside Toya. A thing to keep in mind, Akito is a teenager, and teenagers do dumb and petty shit often bc they’re teenagers. I don’t excuse his actions, but I get it. And he did seem to learn from the whole thing and ended up becoming good friends with An and Kohane still. Plus, I think he’s actually pretty perceptive towards others feelings ( i.e An’s events, Ena and their dad, Toya, etc.). 

So my HC with Akito is that maybe he was so harsh with Kohane bc he saw a partial reflection. Kohane has a lot of parallels alongside Toya (not seeing RW but still trying to surpass it, quieter/calmer personalities, etc), but I think Kohane also has some parallels with Akito. Both don’t come from a musical background, so they had to start from the ground up, their respective partners are more experienced in music than they are, etc. But maybe when first seeing Kohane, he’s reminded of his younger self and soccer. Akito was really crushed about soccer during that summer festival event and ended up being lost until he found a new passion in street music. But the road was probably hard since he had to go it alone, plus this was probably going on at the same time as his home situation with Ena and their dad having their first fight. It got easier over time, especially after meeting Toya. So I wonder if when he first saw Kohane, he saw a version of his younger self and was trying to somehow spare her from the displaced feeling he felt after being crushed in soccer. Again, not to excuse his actions bc it’s still kinda shitty, but showing another POV of what he did.

Obviously, Akito and Kohane are good friends now, but I also hope that Akito and Kohane’s friendship as well as An and Toya’s friendship grow more in the future. I saw around Twitter ppl complaining about how VBS feels more like 2 groups who happen to sing songs together rather than one cohesive unit like w/ the other groups, and I get it. But I also disagree, since I think VBS is learning from each other and the whole 2 pairs thing is sort of a rivalry thing. The pairs push each other to be better as well as helping each other out. Akito helps An out with her feelings/actions towards Kohane as her partner, An reminds Akito that he’s not alone and has a group of friends he can rely on, Kohane is an unpolished diamond that is slowly revealing her shine which is pushing the others to keep moving forward/improving, Kohane is also a sort of opposite of Toya in that she’s a more natural type of musical genius who understands the feeling behind music (we see this with her lessons from Taiga and how open with her emotions she is) while Toya is the more classically trained genius who has put hundreds of hours into music. So Kohane and the others help Toya out with his feelings and music while Toya/An/Akito also helps teach Kohane the ropes. Their combined rigorous training and Kohane’s hard work outside of their practice ends up causing Kohane to level up faster (VBS Miku points that out too at some point in an event later lol).

So yeah that’s all I’m going to put for now. I said I’d do multiple groups, but I ended up doing like 2 groups and they were pretty large rambles too lol. Still, I haven’t done a long ramble in awhile so this was kinda fun for me. I noticed I’ve been slowing down with the longer posts bc I’ve kinda caught up on all the fan translation stuff so now I have to reread stuff or just wait for it to come out on global.

I realize I sorta ended up posting more incorrect quotes stuff than rambles/theories stuff lately. I wonder if I should cut back on that or not? (let me know if that type of stuff is annoying).

hey! so ive been reading through all of the event stories, and i just finished what lies behind what lies ahead, and i noticed how at the end of the story (after episode 8) they did the little cinematic thing where it ended with the nightcord logo (i dont really know how to describe it, so heres a link: (https://youtu.be/G7U9HmRWsTg) do they play those at the ending of an arc, or just when something significant happens in the story, because i swear that one played at the ending of the tondemo wonderz event (i cant remember its name) and that event had wxs becoming park ambassadors and winning the show contest, and what lies behind what lies ahead ended with ena promising that she’ll wait for mizuki to tell her their secret, another significant plotline. and what signifies the “ending of an arc”? is it when the rotation ends? when the anniversary happens? i have no idea 😭

yeah those little cutscenes play at the end of an arc ender event and at in the prologue of every main story.

arc enders are usually once the unit has achieved their arc goal, with the exception of niigo. For example in WxS' first event, they enter the show contest, and they keep entering those up until Wonder Magical Showtime!, when they win and become park ambassadors. Their next arc starts with them going around doing promotional shows, before it starts to bring in the actual plot of discussing their inevitable disbandment. N25 as I said is an exception, because it's very much set up that the 1st arc will be about helping Mafuyu recover at the same time as they all face their own struggles, but starting from Secret Distance we get more focus on Ena realising that Mizuki is hiding something and then get a mixed event about it and have this plot serve as the arc ender. It's a bit messy but I think they decided somewhere along the line that they wanted Mafuyu to be the focus of the 2nd arc so just switched the focus onto Mizuki for 1st.

There isn't a set time for how long an arc takes to complete. Leo/need's first arc took place over 3 unit events and 2 mixed events, WxS took 1 rotation, MMJ and N25 took 1.5 rotations, and VBS took two. The second arcs had more of a time limit to work with, because they all have to end by 3rd anniversary, and this is pretty noticeable. Especially when you compare how WxS took a while to start properly addressing the disbandment thing, and N25 took a few events before they started talking about the issues with Mafuyu's mother, but then VBS took so long to finish their 1st arc they ended up jumping straight into their 2nd arc about the truth of RAD WEEKEND with no breather.

accidentally neglected this blog! i’m going to swing back around with an event starter, with tentatively no cap! i’ll do as much as i can handle in a first come, first serve order!

some event ideas for akito will be below!

Essentially, since he’s from a game that doesn’t really have a lot of bad events or potential killings happening, he’ll be a pretty chill ride!

You might see some scenes from his past - his first meeting with some of his group members, RAD WEEKEND (the legendary music event that inspired him to become a singer himself), etc... you might even get to see imprints of some important people to him like Taiga or Ken, his father, his sister Ena, and so forth. You could also meet Akito from before he got into music, or from the canon AU where he has a different group all together - Fantasista SQUAD. 

However with an opportunity to explore some “branching timelines” i might mess around with some popular fanon aus if that sounds interesting!
