#Eddie being hilarious and cute as usual

Love the idea of Steve and Eddie being so sickening in love that Eddie calling him by his name makes Steve be like “why are you being mean”. Imagining how funny it would be if Steve was hanging out with a new friend or co worker or something at the house for the first time and Eddie comes in and is like “hey Steve” and kisses him on the cheek before introductions and obligatory “how was your day” and when Eddie leaves a couple minutes later the new friend is about to comment on how nice Steve’s husband seems when Steve turns to her and is like “I’m so so sorry you had to see that he is not usually like that he is just still pissy about (insert dumb funny thing here)”
This is cute and hilarious, and it’s so canon to this AU that it hurts. I love it so much.
I’m picturing Steve having a group of teachers over because they’re part of a committee and they’re planning an event at the school. Some of the teachers are people that Steve has known years, but the majority are people who don’t know Eddie outside of the guy that sometimes picks Steve up on bad brain days.
They’re in the thick of making posters and streamers when Eddie comes into the house, guitar case in hand from practicing at Jeff’s. He comes into the dining room where everybody is, plants a kiss on Steve’s cheek like, “Hey, Steve. Missed you.”
“Missed you more,” Steve hums back, sinking into Eddie’s side when he wraps his arm around his waist and pulls him closer.
Eddie rests his head on Steve’s shoulder and looks down at the poster he is making. It’s very glittery. He asks, “How’s it going?”
He listens attentively as Steve tells him of all they’ve accomplished and even reminds him of something that he said he wanted to do for the event and forgot about. He smiles and shakes hands when he’s introduced to other teachers and even recalls some of the things Steve told him about them.
At the ends of it, Eddie kisses Steve’s cheek again, tells him that they’re doing amazing work, and then says, “I’ve got a melody in my head, gonna go iron it out. Let me know if you need anything.”
He even says as he leaves, “Love you.”
“Love you, too,” Steve echoes back. Once the basement door closes, Steve just sighs and says so apologetically, “I’m so sorry you had to see that and if it made any of you uncomfortable. He’s not typically like that, you know. He’s just mad at me right now because I won’t walk a red carpet with him next week.”
At first everybody thinks that he’s joking but Steve looks so genuinely embarrassed that they have to believe him. Everybody is just like, “Excuse me, he’s mad at you?? He isn’t usually like that??? Meaning that he’s typically more loving and affectionate???”
Kathy, a seventh grade English teacher who shares way too much about her failing marriage, is just like, “Shoot, I can’t even get my husband to say he loves me half the time.”
“Kathy,” Steve says sincerely. “You need to divorce your husband.”
“I know.”
There’s a beat of silence before David, a newer teacher at the school, asks, “Red carpet? He is like, movie star or something?”

Steve makes lunches for everyone, but he's one of those people who has a theme for every single lunch.
Dustin gets cute little sandwiches that have been carefully made to look like computers, cookies shaped like walkie talkies, and juice bottles that are decorated with the scientific equations.
Max gets grilled cheese cut into skateboards, a fruit salad packed into a little California-shaped box, a snack cake that has a cute little cake Steve decorated to look like that game in the arcade she refuses to let anyone beat her high score in, and she always gets a little note telling her she's amazing and "please don't beat anyone up today."
Will gets lasagna carefully cut to look like a dragon, charcuterie, and cookies that are shaped like lightning bolts. Steve used to include a drink, but then Jonathan mentioned that Will's favorite thing is chocolate milk so now he just packs some money to buy it cold from the lunchroom; he's the only member of the Party that gets a lunch AND lunch money.
Mike refuses to let Steve pack his lunch, but he doesn't complain when Steve packs him snacks for the day. Steve always packs his favorites, labels them with the name "Paladin Shithead," and sometimes hides some small candies in Mike's backpack.
Lucas gets two lunchboxes, but only because Steve is overprotective. There were times in high school where Steve passed out after practice because no one ever thought to offer him a snack, and Lucas was the most active BEFORE he joined the team. All of his food is curated to be sure he's getting as much energy as possible without making him sluggish and bloated. If Steve makes them look like jerseys, basketballs, tennis shoes, and baskets, that's no one's business but Lucas's.
Robin gets a lot of food that's been made to look musical, like ice cream, or, her favorite, like ears. She thinks it's hilarious that her little comment in Starcourt about her ears being geniuses stuck with Steve, especially now that she knows how difficult it is for Steve to remember anything (his concussions have not been kind to him).
Nancy and Jonathan both get simple lunches, everything looks normal, but their desserts are always decorated with guns and a heart with N+J in the center. Steve never really figured out how to act around the two of them when there isn't a crisis, but he loves both of them and keeps them well-fed until they go off to college.
Joyce gets a lunch delivered every morning, packed with healthy foods and labelled "For my real mom." It makes her tear up every single day, and she usually repays Steve by sending home the lunchbox full of copies of Byers family recipes, "for my darling son." They don't mention it to anyone else, but Steve makes sure to try each and every recipe even though he adds them to his own recipe box anyway.
Hopper gets a lunch full of little police stars, and his sandwich is shaped like himself, mustache and all. The first time Steve did this, he left the lunch on Hop's desk at the station with a note that just says "To Dad," because Hop has called Steve his son almost exclusively since 1984. The sentiment makes him go all misty-eyed, and because one of his deputies dared to mention it, the entire station knows not to bring up Hop's son as any sort of joke again.
Eleven's lunches are full of sweet foods. Honey ham, candied nuts, any new dessert recipes that Steve wants to try, they all go in her box. She gets normal, healthy food too, but she'll only eat it because Steve makes them look like waffles. (She likes being able to eat anything, post-Lab, but Steve dotes on her like she's the baby sister he never got to have) Her favorite thing, though, is the notes he packs for her, telling her that she is always going to be his hero and he's proud of her for pushing through school.
Eddie claims he gets the best lunch: hand delivered by Steve every day, full of hearty food to both help him heal up and put on some weight (Steve was appalled when he realized he could count almost all of Eddie's ribs, because of course Eddie is hypoglycemic). His desserts are always bat-shaped, both the animal and Steve's signature weapon, and Steve usually leaves a post-it note with nothing but a heart in the box. Eddie has collected every single one, he keeps them in a drawer.
Erica's lunch looks like she has a personal chef, each one with her initials on the entree. She boasts to anyone who is in earshot that her babysitter made it for her, and that he's the best cook in the whole state; as a result Steve's been signed up for every bake sale, auction, and school dance at the middle and high school.

Saw this meme and iiiiii did a thing... a steddie thing... obviously
( Eddie has a small dick in this if you don't like it don't read it. We support small dick supremacy in this house thank you for your time. 😊 )
😅😅😅
I'm picturing them at a bar. I wanna say maybe Steve is the bar tender, and he's been seeing Eddie around. He comes in. Talks a little, he's kinda quiet. Like he's stuck in his head, like he comes there to think. He's always scribbling things on napkins. Steve thinks they might be song lyrics, the way Eddie hums and taps his fingers as he writes.
But Steve obviously sees him looking at him sometimes. It's a gay bar, it happens, but Eddie doesn't leer at him, or chat him up in that way. It's always just friendly conversation.
Steve kind of loves it. Loves being able to just chat and not worry about getting stalked out to his car by a creep. And then one day some drunk dude is hitting on Eddie HARD. Leaning into him and grabbing at his arm and just when Steve is about to say something the guy actually says the words,
"how big is that dick?" Like... in real life. Out loud. And grabs for Eddie's thigh, and Steve watches Eddie catch his wrist, easy, watches him shove the guys hand back at him, saying,
"small. Leave me alone." Without even looking at him. And Steve fucking barks a laugh because that was... fucking hilarious. But also... kinda hot. Like, he's known he likes Eddie for awhile but seeing someone come on to him had sealed the deal, jealousy crawling over his skin, but then seeing Eddie shut it down, in the funniest fucking way Steve had ever seen, had just slammed it into place.
The guy scowls, says something rude, and stalks off. But Eddie is looking at Steve cuz he's still chuckling. Doing that cough thing like he's trying to cover it up but the laugh is still extremely prominent through the coughing. And Eddie watches him with raised eyebrows cuz like... damn okay. Cute bar tender thinks he's funny. And Steve is like,
"Sorry man. That was just, fuckin hilarious. Not the guy grabbing you, obviously, just, how you delt with it. Like that was... the best thing I've seen in awhile. Just... just sayin." He shakes his head to stop himself rambling more, he needs more friends to hangout with besides Robin, she's rubbing off on him. So he just reaches into the cooler and grabs Eddie his usual beer, slides it over the bartop to him, tells him it's on the house.
"Thanks." Is all Eddie says, but he looks happy, small smile still on his face.
And when the bar's closing, and Eddie is still there, just idly talking to Steve all night. Steve takes a chance. Says some cheesey line about letting Eddie walk him home. And Eddie flushes red to his ears but nods, takes the last sip of his beer and helps Steve flip the chairs onto the tables so he can do a quick sweep. Steve's locking the door when he hears Eddie clear his throat awkwardly, like he wants to say something. Steve looks at him, waits.
"I uh... look I know you thought I was being funny... earlier." Eddie scratches his head, nods into the bar. Steve nods, lets him continue.
"But I uh- I was also being serious?" He grimaces, eyes on the ground.
"So if that's like... a deal breaker? That's- that's totally okay. I just uh... I dont know. Thought I should maybe warn you before- before anything...happens?" His eyes widen and he takes a step back.
"Not that anything was gonna happen! Like I wasn't expecting... THAT. I just... oh my god I don't know. People can be assholes about small dicks so I just wanted to be up-front about it in case you thought I was kidding when I told that guy that. Cuz I was being serious and I'm gonna stop talking. Jesus christ." He breathes the last part, shaking his head at himself, his face twisted in what looks like pain. Steve thinks he's fucking adorable.
He steps closer, puts his hands on Eddie's hips and pushes him gently against the brickwall of the bar. Rests his head against Eddie's as he laughs a little, Steve's fingers pressing into his hips tickling a bit.
"I don't care. Honestly I uh..." he pauses, pulls back to look at Eddie, his eyes are wide, his cheeks are a deep pink now.
"I was kinda hopin you weren't kidding." Steve tilts his head, smirks at Eddie, just a little. A light smirk. Not the full thing, doesn't wanna overwhelme him. Yet. Eddie sucks in air, blinks at him.
"Oh. Yeah?" He asks, his voice breathy, pitched higher than usual. Steve nods, sinks his teeth into his lip, and brushes his nose against Eddie's.
"Yeah. Still wanna walk me home?" Steve asks, staying close. Eddie nods, his hands moving to Steve's shoulders.
"Yeah. Yes absolutely. I'd love that. I'd love too." He rambles, swallowing hard.
And Steve can't help himself anymore, ducks forward and presses a soft kiss to his lips. Eddie makes a little sound in his throat and Steve fucking adores it. Already in so deep for this guy. But it's been months. Eddie's not a new thing in his life. Just, this part of it is new.
Eddie blinks at him when he pulls back, steps away from Eddie but holds out his hand. Eddie smiles, reaches out and takes it, lets Steve drag him away from the wall and down the sidewalk. Their fingers laced together, hands swaying between them as they walk through the dark.

Hii, can I request an angsty fic with Eddie Munson, where he overhears Jason saying the reader (Eddie's secret gf) and him kissed and he believes it. So he ignores the reader and is a bit mean and the reader is sad and hurt when she finds out the reason. I'm not sure if I want it to end in fluff or not, so I will leave that to you.

If someone were to watch the two for long enough and with a close eye, they would have noticed the sneaking glances Y/N Y/L/N and Eddie Munson shared as they passed each other in the hallways, or in the lunchroom, or even in class. They were always finding some way to look at each other, a silent acknowledgment of their presence— and their love— no matter where they were. No one noticed, anyway, so it didn’t matter and the couple persisted with the limited amount of public recognition and displays of affection. It wasn’t Y/N’s idea for them to be secretive about their relationship, but she also didn’t push Eddie on the matter; she understood where he was coming from.
As a school tutor, the one that most people, popular group included, sought out and paid for, Y/N had her own little business to protect. One that Eddie insisted would take a hit if they were to become public; “Since when were you such a businessman?” She had asked when he had first brought it up and he just shot her a charming smile and a “since your business was at stake.” She didn’t question anything after that, how could she? He was far too cute and she had to admit, his logic was sound. The moment word got out about them seeing each other, she knew a lot of people would suddenly find another tutor— or offer her less money. She wasn’t happy about it, no, but it did enable her to save up some money, especially so that she and Eddie could take a small vacation this summer, something that he was saving up for, too. Then after they went on their trip, they could be as public as they wanted.
It had been a good couple months since they started this secret relationship, making sure not to tell anyone and sneaking into each other’s houses late at night, giggling at almost being caught quite a few times. It had been hilarious watching Eddie try to scale her two story house to get into her window. All in all, it was going as amazing as could be expected when you weren’t allowed to run up to your partner in public and give them a kiss in front of everyone— but they were happy and that was what mattered the most.
Or Y/N thought, at least.
It was nearing lunchtime, the closest one could get to peace within a school day, when Y/N first noticed something going on. She noticed his mop of hair first thing as she entered the cafeteria, her heart skipping a beat and her trying to hide a grin that threatened to take over her face. It was nearly impossible to do, though. It always was. Eddie had been in front of her in the lunch line and, unlike usual, he didn’t do his casual lunchroom sweep to see where she was. He seemed intently focused on something and within a few moments, Y/N had located what, or better yet, who. Jason Carver stood a few people in front of Eddie, surrounded by his usual group of jocks, all of which was laughing unnecessarily loud, slapping Jason on the shoulder, and then glancing back to Y/N. She was still wearing the same smile that had formed from seeing Eddie, one that Jason returned rather quickly. Though she was confused on why their attention was directed to her and even more so when they delivered another round of slaps to Jason’s shoulders. Though nothing made her as confused as when Eddie looked back at her smiling face, his own morphing from disbelief to anger, and then storming away. The door would’ve slammed behind him had someone else not walked in, grabbing it right before it hit the frame, throwing looks back at Eddie, undoubtedly whispering some harsh words.
The call of her name was enough to bring her back into the present moment, worry gnawing at her heart and indecision at her brain: she couldn’t run after him without exposing everything, but her business was less important than his feelings. She didn’t get much time to think about it anymore before a hand was wrapped around her wrist and her body was being hauled forward. Jason was still grinning down at her as he settled her in line with him, ignoring the complaints of the hungry students behind them she had skipped.
“I did it.” He said with no further explanation. Y/N was a smart girl, whatever he was talking about should have clicked rather quickly, but she felt her mind blank of everything except Eddie. Her dumbstruck expression was enough for Jason to continue, “Well. Thanks to your help,” at this, his boys howled with laughter and passed each other knowing looks that once again sailed over her head, “I passed Mr. Hindleston’s exam.” At this, Y/N remembered exactly what he was talking about. He had been seeing her for a few days now to study for the test, seeming real worried that if he failed, his basketball career was in jeopardy. She thought that was an exaggeration, there was no way the coach would bench him, but she still felt pity— and maybe some excitement at the money he was offering— so she had cancelled on some dates with Eddie last week to really focus on this. She had told Eddie this, though, he knew who she was tutoring and he hadn’t been the slightest bit upset over it.
“Oh! That’s amazing, Jason! I knew you could do it, I’m so proud of you.” And she was, genuinely. He, despite acting like an ass most of the time in school, especially towards her boyfriend, had really been trying the few sessions they had together. And she knew firsthand how difficult Mr. Hindleston’s exams could be.
She hadn’t realized her eyes had wandered over the occupants of the cafeteria again until Jason slung an arm around her shoulder, jarring her back to him, “I could’ve never done it without you, N/N. How about you sit with us today? A little repayment for all you’ve done.” His friends behind him were leaning forward, all with expectant expressions and goofy grins.
They lost it in another round of laughs and high-fives when she responded with: “You’ve already paid me plenty.” He had paid her a bit extra money for all her time and cancelled plans, but that didn’t explain why his friends were acting like it was the greatest thing they’ve ever heard. Or why he was turning back to them with a mocking “Sh”, but it meant he had released her from his grip so she didn’t complain much.
“Oh, c’mon, I insist. Just for today?” He asked as he turned back to her, adding the charm on thick. She had started to shake her head, lips parting in a rejection. But before she could, he was shoving an empty lunch tray into her hands, “I’ll save you a seat.” The rest of the boys brushed past her, quickly making work of what they wanted on their trays while she just stood there, entirely lost. She was still concerned about Eddie, who still hadn’t made an appearance, and now she had to worry about Jason acting odd, his friends even odder.
“Hey, hurry up!” Someone behind her complained, slightly sticking the edge of their tray into her back so she moved forward. She was half aware of what she got from the food options, knowing she probably wouldn’t eat any of it.
She was right: she barely touched her food. Between Jason’s friends’ boisterous laughter, Jason himself trying to whisper things in her ear (which she soon picked up was more for the benefit of his friend’s humor than it was to talk to her) and her constantly searching for Eddie amongst the crowded room (which she had to lie about when Jason asked who she was looking for, saying just another student she tutors), she wasn’t in the mood to eat. She couldn’t run fast enough out of the cafeteria when the bell rang, signaling another class.
Despite being really good at the class, she hated it, the only good part about it was that she had it with Eddie. Who, for some reason, didn’t show up for that class, or their final one together, nor was Y/N able to find him in the halls in between. It was like he had entirely vanished. There was only one place Y/N hadn’t looked for him and she had to wait around in the library after the final class ended as students funneled out of the school and then she was able to slip inside the drama room, where Hellfire Club took place.
Right where she thought he’d be was Eddie, bent over a folder and furiously scribbling in it with a pencil. He didn’t even look up when she entered, but she knew he knew that she was there. No one could miss the heavy door swinging shut. The brief relief she felt when finding him was soon washed away.
“Eddie?” She addressed him just as she would anyone, not wanting her voice to carry out into the hallway if she called him something more personal. Though, when he still didn’t acknowledge her presence, she inched forward, eyebrows furrowing, “Babe?”
“I’m working.”
Now, Y/N was used to Eddie getting lost in planning campaigns and not paying attention to her or anyone— she knew it wasn’t personal. He simply got too caught up sometimes. But this was different. His voice held a hint of anger, like he was going to snap at any moment. Much like the pencil he held tightly in his hand, not moving an inch on the paper anymore, but still caught in the pressure of his grip.
She didn’t know what to do. He was obviously angry and had been since lunch, but she didn’t know what had set him off. She didn’t know how to handle his anger when it was directed at her— it had never been before. “What are you working on? Can I see?” She had thought that distracting him from the issue for a moment would help him take a breath, but instead, he closed the folder with a snap before she could peek over his shoulder, throwing the pencil haphazardly on the table, where it bounced and rolled off. She jumped back at the sudden movement of him standing up, shoving his seat back away from him.
He didn’t even look her way as he left the room. He didn’t offer her a small glance, or a smile, or even a whispered explanation. He just left and she stood there, watching as she felt her throat burning with the need to cry. Instead of allowing herself to break down over something she wasn’t certain of, she went to grab the pencil off the floor so no student would trip over it.
﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏
Over the next few days, holding back the tears was growing progressively harder. Silent treatment was an excruciating thing to experience when you desperately wanted to talk to someone, and Y/N’s mind was a never ending series of ‘what if’s’, none of them ending on a positive note.
The day after the lunchroom incident, she had tried to talk to him once again after giving him the entire night and day to cool off. But as she walked into the room of Hellfire Club, he had simply told her that it was club night and she needed to leave.
“What? Hellfire doesn’t start for another hour.” Silence was her answer, him suddenly acting very interested in setting up the game pieces and his folder, “Eddie, what’s going on? Talk to me, please. I can’t fix things if you won’t tell me what needs fixing.”
“The only thing that you need to fix is yourself. You are not in Hellfire, you don’t belong in this room. Go before someone shows up.” That was the first crack in the dam that held back her tears, though he didn’t look her way to notice how her eyes suddenly glistened.
“I’ve been in here plenty of times. You love showing me the set up. You love filling me in on the game.” If the crack in her voice wasn’t a give away to the fact she was about to cry, the fact that she was only seeing blurs was. Her throat was burning once more, her heart clawing at the inside of her chest as it raced against her brain, which was scrambling for an explanation to all of this. Last week he had been holding her in his arms beneath a starry sky, hidden in some abandoned parking lot so no one would spot them. Now he couldn’t even look at her.
She could barely make out the way Eddie tensed his shoulders, like he was preparing for an epic blow in the final campaign of the game. Like everything was about to be made or broken and he had to steel himself for whatever came next. “Things change, Y/N.”
The second crack ran deep, a single tear slipping from her eye before she could stop it. She wiped it away just as quickly. The silence hung between them for a few moments as she managed to take a few deep shuddering breaths to regain her composure, though when she did speak, her voice still cracked as it snuck past the painful lump lodged in her throat. “This isn’t funny, Eds. Come on. Tell me who this is, or this? What’s that mean?” She started firing off questions at him, grabbing random figurines and pointing to words in the folder that she definitely knew but was hoping for him to explain anyway. She had always loved listening to him talk, and he had always loved explaining DND to her.
“Leave, Y/N.” He didn’t wait for her to start objecting again before he was gently pushing at her shoulder, leading her back towards the door. He didn’t meet her eyes the entire time, keeping them directly ahead towards the wall. She heard the door opening behind her but didn’t realize that he had literally pushed her into the hallway until she saw the door start to close back.
She jumped forward, grabbing at the last straw that she could, one that would be cut in half if the door clicked back into place. “Wait! Am I, like, banished now or something?” She attempted the joke, twirling the invisible string around her finger, hoping to pull a smile from Eddie, anything to let her know it was all okay. She hoped he would open up the door, laugh and hold his arms out for her to run into like he did every time he successfully climbed through her bedroom window.
But the thing with hope is that failure always hits a lot harder afterward. The string of hope she had desperately clung to crumbled from her hand, falling to the floor beneath her as he finally met her gaze, saying a simple, “yes,” and then shut the door. She stared at it for a few moments, waiting for it to open back up for her. It never did. It wasn’t until she heard chatter coming down the hall did she finally turn and leave, her arms crossed over her chest and her eyes never leaving her shoes. The last thing she wanted was to be stopped for a chat or a tutoring question. She had questions of her own that were waiting for answers.
﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏
Over the weekend, she had attempted to call him numerous times, losing count after she crossed over into the twenties. She knew it was annoying, but she had to talk to him. She needed to know what had happened between them, what had made him push her away.
He never answered.
The one time his uncle had answered, she could barely make out a muffled “tell her I’m not here” coming from Eddie. She had hung up before his uncle could deliver the lie.
She had even drove over to his place but to no avail. Either he truly wasn’t home this time or he wasn’t answering the door. But as she turned her car back onto the main road, she thought she saw a light flick on in his windows.
Despite her heart hanging heavy within her chest, she still carried on with tutoring, though her usual excitement and encouragement had taken a hit. It was worse when she’d stuff the money into her piggy bank, seeing what she had saved for a trip she felt now wouldn’t happen. She almost wished he would break up with her already so she at least had some form of an answer to her endless plague of questions. But he wouldn’t even talk to her long enough to say those simple words and save her the self-inflicted heartbreak she’s been egging on since this fight first started.
﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏﹏
On Tuesday, after being ignored for all of Monday and until the end of classes this day, she decided she wasn’t going to take it anymore. To hell with her tutoring, she thought as she marched right up to Eddie in the hall, halting his conversation with his favorite prodigy, Dustin. He seemed shocked as he looked at her but he quickly hide that expression behind indifference, raising an eyebrow at her as he waited for her to speak. This was the furthest she’s gotten with him in days so she took it in stride.
“I don’t know what’s happening, what I’ve done, but-“ Just as quick as she had his attention, she lost it. He looked past her for a brief moment, his jaw ticking in anger, but then slowly he met her stare once more. But she had saw it. She saw the jaw tick. She saw how his fingers curled into little fists at his side. She saw how the indifference wavered and let anger shine through. And when she turned to see what had caused it, she spotted Jason, leaning against her locker with his little friends in tow. They were all watching her with interest, Jason looking like he was about to head over and see what was happening.
“What-“ She started again as she turned back to Eddie, but her brain was suddenly grabbing at strings to tie together, fitting pieces of a puzzle into place. “Oh my god. You think I slept with Jason.” She couldn’t help but to laugh at first— it was preposterous. Her and Jason? Never. Not in a million years. Eddie jealous? As if anyone could ever catch her attention after him.
But her laughter cut off as she noticed Eddie not laughing, but instead watching her with the same blank stare he had been giving her for days. “Oh my god. You think I slept with Jason.” She repeated, the statement now holding a more hurtful meaning behind it. He wasn’t jealous. He fully believed she had slept with him. All those times she had told him she was tutoring Jason so they’d have to postpone their dates, he thought she was cheating. That hurt worse than the fight itself. Because the resounding meaning behind all of it was that he didn’t trust her. And he didn’t care enough to try to talk it out. He was okay with not speaking to her and keeping this image of her inside his mind, despite the months of her worshiping him and telling him how she loved him. He didn’t care to try to fix it. He didn’t know her enough to know she would never cheat, especially not with Jason.
She backed up a bit then, the realization hitting her like a blow. All those months of her trusting him with every secret, every thought, every feeling, was entirely one sided. Because she would never have accused him of something so ridiculous, not without listening to his side. Yet he had wasted no time in latching onto a rumor that painted her as some heinous whore. That was the third crack.
But the fourth was the final hit: “I don’t need your tutoring services anymore, Y/N. You’re free for other clients now.” It was the one that had her taking another step back, accidentally colliding with a random body. The hand on her waist didn’t register until Eddie scoffed, shooting her a look as if to say ‘was I wrong?’
It suddenly felt like she couldn’t breathe, like everyone was staring at her. She wasn’t crying, and she couldn’t understand why. She felt like the rug had been pulled out from beneath her feet, she was free falling through the air and no one was catching her. No one was even trying except for herself, who was trying to cling to any semblance of normalcy and stability. But it was a fruitless fight. Jason was spreading a rumor that she had slept with him, apparently. Which made his behavior in the lunchroom make more sense. But it had gotten back to Eddie.
Eddie, her sweet Eddie. The boy who swung her over a puddle of water so she wouldn’t get her shoes wet, the Eddie who snuck into her bedroom with an expired can of soup when she felt sick, and then apologized for the next hour after she told him it was expired. The boy who didn’t care enough to figure out the truth behind the situation, who ignored her for days and then broke up with her in such a way that no one else could understand except her. But she did understand. That was the breakup she had been waiting for, yet she didn’t shed a tear. Her skin held goosebumps all over and she felt like she was two seconds away from losing the ability to hold herself up.
She barely processed it as she pushed away from Jason, who was trying to talk to her while throwing insults towards Eddie, and headed to the girls bathroom, or when her back hit the door, preventing anyone from following in after her. She didn’t process the fact that she still wasn’t alone, either, and that a redhead was squatting down in front of her, asking if she was okay. She felt her head shake, she knew she wasn’t okay, but when her mouth opened to say that, she just started laughing like she had been in the hallway. Her brain was disconnected from her body at the moment, maybe a coping mechanism to keep her from panicking in a school bathroom. But the slight logical side of her that was staying intact knew it was too late for that.
“Y/N, right? I’m Max. Are you okay? Do I need to get someone?”
And for a slight second, she thought of him. She thought of asking this girl to go fetch Eddie, her boyfriend, the one who could calm her down. But then his angry face filled her mind, his coded breakup, and the laughter stopped. And she cried.
She cried for her reputation being tainted by Jason.
She cried for all the money she had saved for a trip that she was now 100% positive wouldn’t happen.
She cried for the fact that she only got to learn a few chords on Eddie’s guitar and would learn no more.
She cried for the months of her legs being scratched up by her crawling through his bedroom window. And for the shirt she ruined in the same activity.
She cried for the man who didn’t trust her.
She even cried for the feeling of anger she now felt towards him.
But she cried more for the anger she felt towards herself, for crying in the first place.
Max sat with her the entire time, not saying anything more, which Y/N was thankful for. It took her a few minutes to stop crying, even more so to catch a normal breath without her chest shuttering, and yet Max stayed sitting right beside her— maybe because she couldn’t get out of the door, but Y/N hoped it was because she was genuinely concerned and cared. She even helped her stand up on legs that had fallen asleep, laughing as Y/N shook them awake, and then helped her walk out into the hallway, heading straight to the front doors. She couldn’t bring herself to look around at all the faces lingering in the hallway, or the not-so sneaky glances being thrown her way by Eddie Munson.
She turned her attention to Max, who’s hair seemed brighter in the sunlight than it had in the harsh fluorescent bathroom lighting. “Hey, do you want ice cream? I just so happen to have quite a savings and could really go for some right now.”

Twenty seven. There were twenty seven cracks in the ceiling above you. Some were dark stained from rain damage, some were from mold. It didn’t come as a shock to you, though, considering the neighborhood you lived in. You were just incredibly bored, and were trying everything in your power to fall asleep. It was almost two o’clock in the morning, and Eddie had long since passed out.
You figured it was your own fault, as you had downed almost three pepsis during diner, a piss poor excuse of dinner. Eddie had promised he would run to the store, which as usual, he forgot, so tv diners it was. You groaned softly as you glanced over to your lover, sighing as the sight of him. He looked so peaceful. So…so…asleep. You wished you looked like that.
Was it fair to wake him just because you couldn’t sleep? Probably not, but damn it, you’d been awake for hours, and you were going to die of boredom. “Eddie?” You called softly, face turned in his direction. You were only met with sound snores.
“Eddieeeee?” You sang, reaching out to poke his shoulder, too which he grunted roughly into his pillow. You scoffed, slapping him playfully. “Christ, Edward, wake up!”
“What?” He said sharply, glaring at you over his shoulder.
You stifled a laugh as you leaned up on your elbow. “I can’t sleep. Will you entertain me?”
He groaned dramatically and very loudly as he faceplanted back into his pillow, ignoring you.
“Hey!” You gasped. “Come on, I can’t sleep!”
“That’s your own fault.” His voice was muffled. “I told you not to drink so much caffeine.”
He did. He warned you after your second one that you’d be up bouncing off the walls. In fact, he lovingly told you not to keep him up all night. Looks like you didn’t give a shit about that. Eddie, despite how passionate, happy and a charismatic he was as a human being, he was terribly grumpy when he woke up. Especially when he wasn’t ready. If he didn’t get his full eight hours, god forbid anyone say anything to him until he fully woke up. You thought it was hilarious, though, given he was just too damn cute when he was grouchy.
“Please!” You threw yourself on his back, resting your chin on his shoulder. His hair was softly and frizzy underneath your cheek, his torso bare and shirt scattered off into the dark abyss of the floor. “Tell me a story or something! You’re good at that.”
More pleaful groans. “Eddie!”
“Ugh- why must I pay for your crimes?” He whined, pushing you off his back as he twisted around to lay on his. You giggled happily as he pulled you into his side, cuddling up against him. You pulled your black comforter up around your shoulders, his face etched into a look of annoyance.
“What do you wanna talk about?” You beamed.
“I don’t want to talk about anything, y/n.” He groveled. “I want to sleep.”
You rolled your eyes at him. “Too bad. You’re staying up with me.”
“I want to break up then. Pack your things and go.” He said tiredly, his eyes remaining closed. You snickered, knowing he was teasing.
“Can I tell you what I thought of today?” You drummed your fingers against his chest.
“No, but you’re going to tell me anyways, so might as well.”
“I was thinking we could get a dog!” You said happily, looking up to see his eyes snap open.
“Fuck no.” His tired eyes met yours, stomach dropping at the idea of a furry creature roughhousing your home. “Don’t even think about.”
“Why not!” You pouted, sitting up with him. “It would be cute! A little puppy running around!”
“Uh, no,” He raised his brows, pushing his bedhead away from his face. “It would not be cute. It would be a mess. We’re not getting a dog.” He said in a no nonsense voice, a very tired voice, and sunk back down in the mattress without you.
You remained seated upright, lips pulled into a frown as you crossed your arms. “You don’t love me.” You pouted, obviously just messing with him.
“Shut up.” He shuffled, trying to get comfortable. “Go to bed, y/n.”
“No, I can’t.” You shook your head. “How can I sleep knowing my boyfriend doesn’t love me anymore!”
“Jesus h christ,” He dragged out, knowing you weren’t ever going to shut the hell up. He made a mental note to never buy pepsi again. “When did I say that?”
“Just now.” You huffed, nose turned upward. “You said I couldn’t get a dog.”
“So that means I don’t love you?”
“Yes.”
He moaned into the sheets, lifting himself up only to pull you back down with him, causing you to squeal. “I’m putting up with this, aren’t I? Doesn’t that prove my love to you?”
He was on his stomach still, his arm around your chest as he held you close. “I guess.” You shrugged. “But I still want a puppy, Eddie. Why don’t you want one?”
“Because dogs are messy, y/n.” His nose pressed against your shoulder, his tone light, yet dripping in exhaustion. You were a terrible girlfriend, you figured.
“But I can clean after it!” You persuaded happily. “I promise it won’t get into any of your stuff.”
“Mhm, you say that now.”
You turned your face toward him and huffed dramatically, causing him to open his eyes. You glared at him, and he just looked at you with amusement. “If I tell you a story will you drop this whole dog business?”
You thought for a moment. Yeah, he was probably right. A dog would be messy.
“Yeah, okay.” You smiled, causing him to roll his eyes. He turned on his side to pull you in close, and beamed happily as you cuddled against him.
He sighed deeply. “Once upon a time,”

“What’s their name again?”
“River. I already told you, Benjamin,” Frankie chuckled, taking a drink from his beer.
“Right, sorry. I’ve just never met a non… what was it again?”
Frankie, Benny, Will, and Santiago were at their usual bar that night. It was in a different part of town than The Night Owl, with a completely different vibe, but it was cozy. The four of them had become regulars and knew the staff by name.
“Non-binary person,” Will said, shoving Benny on the shoulder. “Are you listening at all?”
Benny shot his brother a look and stuck his tongue out, because apparently Benny was still five. “Of course I’m listening! Non-bi-nar-y,” he sounded it out, tapping his finger on the table with each syllable. “What does, uh… What does that like, mean, Fish?”
Frankie furrowed his brows and took another drink. “I haven’t actually asked yet. All they told me is that they’re like… both, and neither, at the same time.” He hummed thoughtfully. “I was a little distracted after that and didn’t get to ask.”
Santiago grinned, slapping Frankie on the shoulder. “Good for you, Fish.”
Frankie rolled his eyes, but smiled, thinking about the kiss he shared with River the other night. They kept texting, and he’d even asked River out on a real date, which brought the guys to the bar. It had been a year or so since his last date and he needed advice on where to take someone like River. He wasn’t as familiar with the goth subculture and thought maybe his brothers would have experience. At the very least Ben, who’d been with a few different kinds of people.
“I did look it up that night after I got home, but I’m still a little confused,” Frankie shrugged.
“Just ask them, man,” Will offered. “They seemed cool with your first question.”
Frankie nodded, a look of determination crossing his features. “You’re right. It couldn’t hurt, right?”

Frankie was sweating. Marisol was with her mom this week, so he hadn’t had to worry about having that conversation yet. He was planning on telling River about her tonight. He checked his hair in the mirror again before he left, deciding to go without his hat tonight, but worried all his nerves would deflate the work he put into it. He sighed as he messed around with the unruly curls again. This is why he stuck to hats. Frankie’s phone vibrated on the bathroom counter, startling him.
ok im ready, eddie 😉
River still thought it was hilarious that Frankie had worn an Iron Maiden t-shirt to a goth club, claiming that it fit his “old man aesthetic”, whatever that meant. This led to River referring to Frankie as “Eddie”, after the band’s skeleton mascot.
Yeah yeah i’m coming
Frankie saw the typing dots appear and disappear a couple times before disappearing completely. He sighed to himself and checked his hair one last time before leaving his apartment.
When he got to the neighborhood of the address River had given him, he checked his phone again, making sure he was in the right place. He slowly crept up the hill towards the last line of apartments and immediately his heart started pounding. Frankie really liked River. He didn’t want to fuck this up, and hoped him being a dad wouldn’t ruin that. Or his big dumb mouth.
River was standing at the bottom of the staircase of the apartment complex and waved, a huge grin on their face. Frankie stopped the truck and leaned over to open the passenger side door for them to climb inside. The scent of bergamot, clove, and sandalwood filled his nostrils again as the truck door shut. Frankie calmed down, and smiled, leaning over to give River a kiss on the cheek. “You look amazing,” he breathed, taking in River’s outfit; they had a collarless shirt buttoned up all the way, tucked into plaid pants, and nice dress shoes. All black, of course. They wore no lipstick today, their makeup was simple, and their hair was perfectly straight. It looked like they’d freshly shaved the right side of their head as well. River’s look was so new for Frankie, he couldn’t help being captivated by them every time he saw them.
“Thank you,” River smiled, heart skipping a beat. “Where are we off to?” They rested their ring-clad hand over Frankie’s larger one in between the two of them on the seat. “When you said it was a surprise, I admit I got a little nervous.”
Frankie placed his hand on the back of the truck seat and looked behind them as he backed up to leave the apartment complex. River’s eyes were glued to Frankie’s neck and subtly licked their lips at the sight of the thick muscles and veins. Their eyes moved up to Frankie’s side profile and they swooned.
“How come? Don’t trust me?” Frankie smirked, making eye contact before his eyes moved to the road, and started heading toward their destination.
River shrugged, even though they knew he couldn’t see them. “Maybe. Maybe not,” they smirked. The red light of the clock on the console caught River’s eye; 7:30pm.
“Well, that’s a shame. I had a nice dinner planned and everything,” Frankie showed them an exaggerated pout, a twinkle in his eye.
“Oh, well, in that case.”
The restaurant Frankie picked might’ve been a little more… casual, then he remembered. The last time he was here was with Jackson. He shook off the memory. He was here with River now. The place was actually more like a diner, with vintage photos of women in pinup-style outfits and poses.
Frankie reached for River’s hand and laced their fingers together as he found them a table, letting River sit first.
“Such a gentleman,” River teased, squeezing his hand before getting comfy in the booth.
“I try,” Frankie smiled bashfully as he joined them on the opposite side. The light shining down onto the table lit River beautifully. He noticed that River’s button-up was actually a dark green, with subtle velvet roses all over.
They ordered their food and made easy conversation. River talked about their job as an architect. They were working on designing a building that was be built in the next couple of years in the city. Frankie found it fascinating but couldn’t focus on the words, too distracted by their calming voice and watching their mannerisms. River talked with their hands a lot whenever they got excited about something, and Frankie thought it was adorable.
“Sorry, I know I’m rambling now,” River shook their head, cutting themself off. Frankie frowned, mouth full of french fries.
“Please, continue, I don’t mind listening.”
So River did. They talked about anything and everything. Frankie interjected here and there, but was more than content to listen to River talk. When there was a lull in the conversation, Frankie’s palms started to get sweaty. Their plates were empty now, but River still had half of their milkshake left.
It was now or never. Frankie took a deep breath.
“So… I’ve been meaning to tell you something,” he started. River raised an eyebrow and rested their chin on the palm of their hand, listening. Frankie cleared his throat before continuing. “Um, so I know this is a dealbreaker for some people, so I won’t be offended if you want to stop things after tonight. B-But I would like to stay friends if that’s the case.” He rubbed his sweaty hands on his thighs. “I’ve got a daughter.”
River was quiet for a second before a small smile appeared on their face. “I’m actually not surprised. How old is she?”
“You’re not?”
“Of course not. You’re an incredibly handsome man of a certain age–”
“Hey.”
“And any woman would be stupid not to make an honest man outta you,” River winked.
Frankie blinked a couple times before chuckling softly. River continued to surprise him. “Well, her mother isn’t in the picture, at least not with me. Marisol, my daughter, sees her half the time, and stays with me the other half of the time,” he explained, crossing his arms comfortably over the table. “Oh, and she’s four.”
“Aww, can I see a picture of her?”
Frankie’s heart fluttered as pulled his phone out, opening the album of photos devoted just to his little girl. He slid his phone over to River and they started scrolling through the photos with a smile on their face.
“She’s adorable, Frankie,” River hummed, returning his phone back to him. “I can tell you think the world of her. I won’t lie, I’m not really… uh, a kid kind of person. I always just planned on being the cool cousin and not a parent,” they muttered, resting their chin on their palm again.
Frankie nodded in understanding. “I totally get that. I just figured it wouldn’t be fair to you, or to Marisol, to keep her a secret, y’know?”
“Absolutely, and I appreciate you telling me,” River nodded back. “But I like you. A lot. And I’m willing to give this a shot with you. So I don’t think Marisol is a dealbreaker.”
Frankie’s heart soared at River’s words. “I really like you, too,” he grinned like an idiot, cheeks warm. “C’mon, we still have another part to this date.” He stood up and held his hand out for River to take.
After paying, the two found themselves back in Frankie’s truck heading down the highway. It was starting to get darker and the roads were clearing. They pulled up to a drive-in, but there weren’t any other cars.
“What is this, Grease?” River teased. “A diner and then a drive-in movie?”
Frankie snorted and reached out his window to pay for their tickets before finding somewhere to park. “I happen to like drive-in movies and diners, thank you very much.”
“That’s because you’re old–”
“I’m only a few years older than you,” Frankie deadpanned.
“Details.”
Tumblr media
About a third of the way into the original Halloween, Frankie put his arm around River’s shoulders and pulled them close. River happily cuddled into Frankie’s side, loving the warmth and softness they found there.
Halfway through, River’s eyes started wandering elsewhere. They looked down at the crotch of Frankie’s jeans, and wondered what lay beyond the tight denim. They looked up at Frankie’s face and kissed the little patch in his beard that refused to grow hair. Frankie looked down at them, deep brown eyes looking over River’s features. He went from their dark-rimmed eyes, to their collarbone, and back to their plush lips, his heart pounding. He didn’t need any further convincing and started kissing River deeply, holding the side of their face.
River hummed into Frankie’s mouth and slowly crawled into Frankie’s lap. They grinned as Frankie huffed a breath against their lips, holding River’s hips in his large hands. River kissed the corner of Frankie’s mouth before moving down to the side of his neck and sucked a mark where his neck met his shoulder. Frankie shuddered, moving a hand down and squeezing River’s ass. They lifted their head and looked at the far-away expression on his face.
“Are you one of those guys that doesn’t like to fool around on the first date?”
Frankie blinked up at River, thinking about it. “I mean, no, but–” “Good,” River growled, latching back onto Frankie’s neck and sucking hard.
Frankie moaned openly at that, but pulled them away. “Wait,” he breathed. River tilted their head to the side and didn’t say anything, letting Frankie continue. “Um, I had another question.”
“Okay.”
“Well, uh. I don’t mean to kill the mood, because God, I really wanna get back to that, b-but I was curious,” Frankie swallowed, not making eye contact again. “I looked up what non-binary was after you told me and I was a little confused, and basically I just– Um, I wanna know like, how… this would… work,” he trailed off, gesturing between the two of them and at the bulge in his jeans.
“You’re asking what I have so you know how to proceed.” It was a statement, not a question, said softly in understanding. River played with the curls at the back of Frankie’s neck.
Frankie nodded. “If that’s an invasive question, I’m really sorry, and–”
“Shh,” River chuckled, pecking Frankie on the cheek. “It’s okay, I promise. I’m not offended. You’re actually being really sweet about all of this. I know this is new for you.”
Frankie smiled shyly and shrugged, but let them continue.
“I was raised as a girl. ‘Assigned female at birth’, is typically what we call it,” River looked down, playing with the collar of Frankie’s shirt. “You were assigned male at birth. The doctors looked at your parts and decided that’s what you were, and you never felt like it was incorrect, right?”
Frankie nodded, listening carefully.
“Right. Well, it felt wrong to me. I didn’t really know what the feeling was growing up. It’s actually kind of a recent development for me.”
Frankie chewed on his bottom lip, one question still buzzing around his head. “How do you… How did you know? And did you… have any… surgeries? To um–” he didn’t know how to word any of this.
River laughed softly. “Yeah, I had top surgery. I no longer have breasts, as I’m sure you’ve noticed. Everything below the belt is still intact,” they grinned, moving their crotch closer to Frankie’s. “The complicated answer, especially for someone so new to this, is that gender is a societal thing. How you’re perceived, presented to the world is just through the eyes of society. How you see yourself is what actually matters, though. And when all that societal bullshit doesn’t affect your life, the roles you’re ‘supposed’ to play don’t matter anymore.”
“I’m River. River is me. I don’t care how people see me. I did all of this,” they gestured to their body. “For me. Not for anyone else. Because if I didn’t, I would be unhappy. And my own mental health and happiness matters more than some so-called church-going do-gooder’s opinion.”
Frankie looked at River in awe. Their confidence and respect for themself was one of the most attractive things he’d ever seen. “You’re amazing,” Frankie breathed, surging forward to kiss them deeply. He gripped River’s ass again and pulled them closer, grinding his hardening cock against them.
River moaned softly, grinding back, and tangling their fingers into his hair. Suddenly, Frankie pulled back, catching his breath.
“Wait, does that, like…” He thought for a second. “While I was doing my research, I came across a couple other terms I didn’t know.”
River chuckled and kissed down Frankie’s neck softly. “Go on.”
Frankie’s breath hitched, speaking shakily. “Um, I’ve always considered myself b-bisexual– oh– a-and if non-binary people are technically a th-third gender, then does that change?”
“No,” River hummed, licking underneath Frankie’s ear, before taking the lobe into their mouth and nibbling.
“It doesn’t?”
River shook their head. “Bisexual is more like an umbrella term. People interpret it differently,” they reached a hand down between them, trailing their fingers to Frankie’s belt buckle and undoing it. “For example, you’ve always assumed it just meant you were attracted to men and women, right?”
Frankie moaned softly as the pressure was relieved from his hard cock, and nodded.
“Exactly. Another way you could see it is you being attracted to people that are like you,” they gripped Frankie’s cock tightly, making him gasp sharply. “And people who aren’t.” They grabbed his hand and placed it onto their crotch, grinding against him.
He was so hard he was throbbing, and so turned on his head spun. He started undoing River’s dress pants and slipped his hand down to their panties, finding their pussy impossibly warm and wet.
“Fuck,” Frankie groaned, rubbing at their clit through the fabric of their underwear. River moaned sweetly and bit their bottom lip, moving Frankie’s boxer briefs out of the way so they could grip around his cock.
“You’re so hard,” River grinned, rubbing their thumb over the tip. They started stroking him slowly, watching as the head of Frankie’s cock appeared and disappeared underneath the foreskin.
Frankie was breathing heavily, resting his head on the back of his seat and looking at River through his lashes. He moved the tips of his fingers in small circles for a few moments before he moved his fingers beneath their underwear and touched bare skin. River gasped at the contact and nodded, giving him permission.  Frankie slowly sunk his middle finger inside them and started pumping in and out. His thumb rubbed in time against their clit. River started moaning louder, throwing their head back to expose their throat to him.
Frankie saw an opening and latched his mouth onto their neck, marking them in return as his free hand held the back of River’s head. “You’re so fucking sexy,” he groaned, biting at River’s skin.
River shuddered at the praise, rocking their hips against Frankie’s hand. “‘M close,” they whined, panting down at him. They started to lose their rhythm on Frankie’s cock and squeezed him tightly in their fist. Frankie nodded in understanding and started moving his fingers faster, adding a second one as the slick sounds coming from between River’s legs filled the truck.
“C’mon, baby. You gonna come for me?” he breathed against their neck, leaving soft kisses against their skin. The contrast between what his mouth and what his hand were doing was overwhelming and River wouldn’t change it for the world.
River nodded, their brows moving downward in pleasure before stilling above him as they came. Their hips rocked back and forth over Frankie’s hand as they came down, moaning and biting their lip.
The sight of River coming was enough for Frankie and his cock twitched hard as he erupted all over River’s hand. He grunted and hid his face in their neck as his balls emptied messily. He whined softly, twitching in the aftershocks.
River giggled quietly and held him close after licking their hand clean. “Gonna have to blow you next time,” they hummed thoughtfully.
Frankie groaned as his oversensitive cock twitched between them. “Don’t say shit like that while I’m still vulnerable, you menace.”
River bit his cheek, then kissed it softly. “You love it.”
He did. He really did.

i know most steddie fics usually go the route of gay eddie who's always known and steve who undergoes a bisexual awakening but...hear me out... what if they're both gay and they're each other's awakening?
clueless eddie and steve who both think they're straight. yeah, eddie doesn't exactly have a ton of experience with the ladies because most of the girls in hawkins aren't lining up to get with him. he's fooled around with a few girls after gigs.
fumbling handjobs and sloppy makeout sessions that lead to subpar sex in the back of his van. and yeah, it didn't exactly rock his world but it felt good and if it didn't exactly feel right, he assumes it's because of the situation not the gender. it never crosses his mind that he is allowed to want more. eddie is content with hellfire and his band. he stays busy and doesn't let himself think too much about why he's so disinterested in girls.
steve has experience. he's both hooked up with girls and had a serious relationship. he likes sex and he likes girls. it never occurs to him that maybe something is missing. that his desire to be wanted by girls perhaps overpowers his genuine desire. sure, he notices guys. thinks some are attractive, but it just never occurs to him that it can mean anything.
he's a boy so he's supposed to want girls. sure, he loved nancy and he did enjoy being with her but it didn't exactly set him aflame. he wanted to be loved and desired. she gave him that for a while, until she screams the word bullshit and it reverberates in his brain.
bullshit bullshit bullshit
he's upset because she's right. it is bullshit. so steve swears to change. he decides to be himself and stop trying so hard to be popular and wanted. it's lonely until a gaggle of children and robin buckley show him true friendship. but he still tries to date. flirts with lots of pretty girls and it leaves him emptier and confused than ever.
the upside down returns with a vengeance. steve and eddie are thrown together and eddie finds himself joking with steve. talking with him. seeing him in a new light. steve realizes that eddie is hilarious and nerdy. they settle into a friendship that is strengthened by matching scars and trauma. it's deeper, somehow different than other friendships the boys have had in the past. there's a tension that neither of them understand simmering just under the surface.
they all survive. eddie's name is cleared. life goes on. the boys decide to get a place together. eddie is working at the new record shop in town and steve stays at family video. neither are quite ready to leave hawkins despite everything. they rent a decent apartment together and throw a party, because fuck it. they deserve it.
more people show up than were invited. eddie finds himself on the couch next to steve and some girl they went to high school with. she's cute and she's flirting with both steve and eddie. really laying it on thick. eddie can't quite place the feeling that hits him as he watches her giggle at steve and put her hand on his chest. she's saying something and steve's eyes widen, looking over to eddie.
"eds, you up for it man? it's cool if you aren't." steve tells him, his cheeks flushed. eddie has no fucking idea what this girl has asked. he simply blinks at steve who seems to realize that eddie didn't hear. "she wants to hook up. with, um, the both us. like a threesome. you in?"
"what? both. me and you...?" eddie is floundering. why is this making him short circuit worse than usual?
"yeah, big boy. all three of us." steve smirks and eddie feels his heart racing.
eddie tells them yes. he says it before his brain can even catch up to what he's just agreed to. he's a bit tipsy and horny. and confused and intrigued, but he's shelving that.
when the girl first propositioned him, steve was in shock. she whispered in his ear "can your friend join?" and really filthy images flashed across his brain. things he couldn't fully make sense of. steve didn't understand why he was so keen to get eddie to join them, but as soon as, um, carrie? cherry? no, cherie. as soon as she asked, it was like he couldn't stop himself.
so he asked and eddie's reaction was objectively hilarious but steve couldn't even make fun of him. he was too turned on by the idea of the whole thing.
he takes them both to his room. sets the mood with soft lighting. stares at his best friend. considers that he's a little too excited about eddie being a part of this night, but is in it now. wants it too bad. the threesome, of course. with the girl. he wants to fuck this girl with his best friend- that has to be why is blood is zinging and his mouth is watering.
eddie is nothing if not bold and he straight up asks how this is going to go. no finesse, no flirting. he's in over his head. the girl giggles and tells the boys she wants them to all three enjoy the night. together. the boys just stare as she tries to explain that she means more than just a boring threesome where the dudes don't interact.
"can you guys kiss?" she asks, sweetly. "it would be really fucking hot."
steve and eddie stare at each other. neither of them have really considered kissing each other before. steve studies eddie's face. he has full, soft lips. he's taking ragged breaths, deeply affected by this situation. steve thinks it over for a second. eddie is his best friend. god, he has eyes. he knows eddie is objectively beautiful. prettier than any man has a right to be. he's had the errant thought of how good looking he is. so, why not kiss him?
however, eddie has lost all ability to have coherent thought. the girl and goddammit eddie cannot remember her name, asked them to kiss. eddie and steve. eddie and steve kissing. the thought of this short circuits his brain. steve. his best friend.
the only thing eddie manages to think is that yes, he would love to kiss steve. it's like his world just suddenly made sense for the first time. he wants to kiss steve like he's never really wanted to kiss another person before. it's a desperate longing that is building and building. he's dying of thirst and the only thing that can quench this desire is for eddie to find out how steve tastes. he needs it.
the girl is looking between them, but neither of them see her. steve makes the first step forward and pulls eddie into him. slides one hand around eddie's jaw and the other around his waist. presses his lips against eddie's and kisses him softly.
it's a fucking revelation. it's permanently altering steve's brain chemistry. there is now, only, before the moment steve knew what it felt like to kiss eddie munson, and after. his lips are soft and he tastes like the shitty mixed drinks they'd been drinking all evening. it's intoxicating.
the kiss deepens and eddie feels steve's tongue against his own. his fucking knees nearly buckle. he's swooning like a schoolgirl and he cannot get enough. shit, he's gay. he's gay for his best friend.
kissing steve harrington feels so right that he can't even panic in the moment. eddie thinks he could do this forever. have they been kissing for a minute or for hours? he gently bites steve's lower lip. steve whimpers in response. oh shit. it goes directly to eddie's dick and it cements into his brain.
yeah, i am so fucking gay.
they finally pull apart and just stare at each other. steve glances over to the bed to find it empty. she's gone. steve isn't too worried about that. he's a little more concerned with the news that he is apparently very, very gay. because kissing girls never felt like this. he feels more from kissing eddie than he did in his entire relationship with nancy. it feels natural. it doesn't feel like trying to earn affection or trying to be wanted.
it feels like the first real moment of his life.
"I think I'm gay" they blurt out at the same time, causing them to burst into unrestrained laughter. the kind of laughter that makes them double over and cry.
eddie collapses onto steve's bed while he tries to catch his breath. steve is looking down at him and god, eddie can't believe he didn't realize how much he wants him.
steve climbs onto him and smiles before he kisses him again.
"this feels right, eddie. nothing else has ever felt so real." steve tells him softly.
"me and you, big boy. it is right. it is real, stevie." eddie replies, kissing steve back.
maybe they just had to find each other all along.

I love Latter Pillar so much you don’t understand i adore him have have some headcanons for him
Daisey literally pulls Howdy BY THE ANTENNA and makes him give Latter a hug. They like Latter, he’s sweet. But him being dramatic sometimes gets on their nerves
Daisey and Lizzy do partake in the Latter teasing, but they usually shut it down if it gets to mean (Latter protection squad say what)
Latter and Eddie besties real, Latter reads his poetry in the post office and Eddie just listens while doing his mailman duties
Honey’s mean to him, but secretly like his poetry. He thinks it’s so bad it’s funny
He runs a poetry club, he’s made a few friends from it too :3
Lizzy loves her brother, she really does, but she cannot stand to hear his bad poetry. She send him ads for poetry lessons and he gets sad about it
Also randomly put in but I love those little bee kids (I don’t know their names :,) ) they look so cute I love them
Latter has 6 arms me thinks, idk if that’s confirmed lmao
I’m mentally I’ll and that update destroyed me so I’m focusing on Howdy’s dramatic, flamboyant brother :3
The Howdy's nephews (the cater-bee children <3) are Howdo and Youdo! I can't remember if its one "o" or two tho haha
But yes Latter is just,,, he's so,, Soo ajdhjssj <3 I love him and his silly dramatics and bad poetry
Forcing siblings to hug is hilarious! I should know as a Certified Annoying Sibling Who Likes Hugs >:3 so good Daisey lol Howdy needs to hug his brother
Lighthearted teasing is fun, and I think if Latter was genuinely friends with whomever he'd go along with it, maybe do improve poetry to tease them back dramatically pff
Yeah you think Howdy would be upset that his brother is friends with the mailman? Bc Latter and Eddie besties Is real and in your home <3 They could write each other letters when it's not the holidays and Latter send Eddie his poetry for approval bc Eddie is too nice to say it's bad <3 (cough Latter getting a crush on Eddie? whaaaatt cough)
Howdy secretly enjoying things feels on brand lol. but him enjoying it for the wrong reason (so bad it's funny) is hilarious
Sorry but my oc CJ would be apart of Latter's poetry club <3 They're friends now Speaking of the poetry club, I imagine they do slam poetry and Latter is really bad but trying his best lol
Not the Poetry Lesson ads 😭 sobbs why she gotta do him dirty like that sjdbsjdhj lmao

This definitely has vibes borrowed from The Office. If you're familiar with that, you can picture Steve's desk as in the same location as Jim's.
Tumblr media
Steve slumps behind his computer monitor at his desk, trying to make himself as small as possible. It's days like today that he really wishes their office had private cubicles instead of an open floor plan, because that'd actually give him somewhere to hide. As it is, with all of them out in the open, it means he's a sitting duck. No flimsy temporary wall to crouch down behind, no nothing at all between him and the horror that is lurking on the other side of the room.
And right now, he really wants somewhere to hide. But unless he wants to crawl under his desk, the room really doesn't offer much protection.
Honestly, he usually doesn't mind their setup at all. He likes the openness of it. He likes to see his coworkers all day. His friends. He likes to be able to talk, and yeah, to avoid work. He's nosy. He wants to see what insanity everyone else is up to every day. That always gives Robin and him things to gossip about later, and that's one of their favorite pastimes. He can look over at Robin behind the receptionist desk, and they can have long conversations with each other, using just their eyes.
They can talk about a cute new girl (or guy, if Steve's the one looking) that's been hired. They can bitch about stupid policy changes. Or a co-worker being a fool. Anything, everything.
But not today.
Today, Steve scoots down further in his chair, hoping that maybe he can make himself totally invisible, if he just wishes for it hard enough.
Because right this minute, Nancy's on the party planning warpath, and he wants no part of it. Party planning isn't anything he's ever been good at, well, beyond hosting a few laidback keggers as a teen, he supposes. Those all went as expected. But office parties? No way. That fact should be obvious to all of them after they forced him onto the party planning committee back in August, and his choices just made them all clutch their pearls.
Steve didn't know that even though there's a full list of silly, made-up holidays to choose from each month, apparently not all of those days are actually on the Nancy-approved list. Steve definitely didn't know that was an unspoken rule for the monthly morale party, so for August, he picked Work Like a Dog day, and convinced half of the office to show up in dog costumes.
Nancy Wheeler didn't find it funny. At all.
That's okay, Steve thinks it was hilarious.
If it wasn't actually an option for a party theme, then they shouldn't have put it on the goddamn list.
And what the fuck does it matter, anyway? Honestly. The monthly staff party is just an excuse to have cake, punch, and thirty minutes longer for lunch. Nobody really wants to attend these office parties, anyway. Might as well make them a little more unpredictable, a little more fun.
The theme can't possibly matter. It's all bullshit.
But now, here they are in December, and this is the annual holiday party they're talking about. Not a random monthly party. Oh no, this is the big one. The one that takes place after hours.
And to Nancy, and the rest of the party planning committee, it matters.
A lot.
So, Steve's hiding. Like a coward.
"You're such a coward," Steve hears from across his desk, a low, taunting hiss pointed in his direction.
He doesn't look in the direction of the voice, because he's smart enough to not fuck this up with any sudden movements. He's aiming for invisible, after all, but he can't resist slowly raising his hand, flipping Eddie off in slow motion.
Eddie laughs, so Steve knows the message landed, loud and clear, even if Steve never looked in his direction.
Fuck him for reading Steve's mind. Of course he's being a coward, but there's no reason to announce that fact. That's just rude.
Steve and Eddie share space, in their little group of desks. Steve sits on the end, and then there's two desks facing each other in front of him. Eddie is to his right, and it's really not so bad. Steve's had some weird fucking deskmates over the years, so much so, that having Eddie Munson at his side has been a breath of fresh air in comparison. A relief, even. Eddie's just loud, and messy.
Steve can handle loud and messy, even if Eddie's shit is apt to spill over onto Steve's desk most days, crowding him out of his own space. Steve can hold his client binder on his lap. That's no problem. Hell, he doesn't even get all that mad when Eddie gets too loud and gets them both disapproving looks. At least it's always fun while it's happening.
Gareth sits on the left, right across from Eddie, and right now he's slid down so far in his chair that he's practically under their desks, just like Steve. Smart kid, he's learning.
Steve dares to glance over and see what's happening across the room.
Nancy is leaning over Jonathan's desk, and Argyle is making faces behind her back. Nancy has eyes in the back of her head, so she definitely knows he's doing it, and Argyle is just asking for trouble. He's gonna get put on the party planning committee if he isn't careful. Which, Steve supposes, is a way better outcome than him getting recruited.
Nancy has her hand resting on Jonathan's shoulder as she talks to him, ignoring Argyle completely.
Steve isn't supposed to know that Jonathan and Nancy have been sneaking around the office, fucking in all the secluded corners of the warehouse, with far less stealth than they think they have. He doesn't blame them. He knows they don't want to go to HR and fill out the paperwork informing the company about their relationship.
Steve gets that. Because he also feels like it's none of the company's business who he fucks on his own time, and definitely wouldn't volunteer that information up willingly, either. None of them ever want to go deal with Murray for anything at all if they can help it. He asks far too many personal questions. It's always uncomfortable, and best to be avoided at all costs.
However, Steve thinks it's mighty funny that Nancy Wheeler, the rule-follower that she likes to pretend she is, is currently breaking them left and right. It honestly makes him like her even more.
And he does like her. Don't get him wrong, just not on party planning weeks. During those weeks, she's the enemy and must be wholly treated as such.
"Steve," Steve hears his name, a hushed whisper, and he turns to look at Robin sitting behind the reception desk.
He waves her off with a small hand movement. He needs to make sure Nancy has settled on haranguing Jonathan and Argyle before he dares to stick his neck out in the open.
Before Steve can say anything back to Robin, The Boss comes out of his office behind Steve's back, clapping his hands together for attention, and they all turn to look in his direction.
Bob Newby is kind of a goofball, and just a little bit doofy, but he's well-meaning. At least Steve's pretty sure he is. He doesn't seem to have a mean bone in his body. As far as bosses go, they could all do way worse.
"Hey there," Bob says, clapping his hands together again, "I told Nancy to make the holiday party this year a big one. A fun one. A special one. And to do that, Steve's gonna help her. Right, Steve?"
Well, Steve wants to strangle Bob, now. Well-meaning, his ass. He's not only mean, he's evil. He's a filthy traitor that Steve would feed to wolves given half a chance after this utter betrayal.
But Steve nods, because he's not actually gonna tell Bob no. It's not worth the pitiful face he'll get in return. Eddie is laughing, and if Steve gets the angle right, he's pretty sure he can kick Eddie in the shin under their desks without even looking.
He hits the mark and Eddie hisses at the blow, and Steve bites back a smile. Eddie had that coming, the asshole.
Then Steve has a better idea, a meaner idea, and he sits up straighter in his chair, and turns and looks right at Eddie, pointedly, "Yeah, and Eddie offered to help me!"
If looks could kill, he'd be dead, but Eddie gets what he deserves. If he wants to be a jerk, he can just help Steve out with planning this shitshow.
Bob is pleased at this though, and announces, "Great! Just don't pick anything scary, guys. I hate scary."
Steve grins, wide. That's a directive for Eddie, not him, and it amuses Steve greatly.
"Got it. Yeti and Krampus are out," Eddie says, with fake sincerity.
Chrissy squeals with delight that they are both actually willing to help with this party. Willing is definitely a stretch of the imagination, but Steve and Eddie both smile at her. She's sweet, and Steve knows Eddie will do anything she asks him to, because he's that wrapped around her little finger.
That's okay, Steve's just as wrapped around Robin's, if not more, so he can't really throw any stones in Eddie's direction about that.
Steve nods, and gives Chrissy a tight smile. They'll make this work. It looks like they have to, since they definitely lost this round of office politics.
Nancy is glaring in their direction, suspicious, "Well, fine. We'll just have to plan for every possible disaster with you two in charge."
"Hey! The dog party was a barking success," Steve yells at her, and she huffs and spins around away from him. Annoyed.
He smiles, and looks over at Eddie, and he's smiling back.
Maybe this won't be the end of the world after all.
Later, after the dust has settled, Steve leans on Robin's desk, looking down at her, disapproving. He's eating his lunch standing up at her desk, both of them sharing what they have, passing things back and forth.
Looking across the office, Steve can see into the break room, and Eddie is sitting at the closest table to the windows with Chrissy, both of them digging around in his metal lunchbox. They can leave for lunch, and sometimes they do, but most of the time they all just pack lunches and hang around. Sometimes, they'll all chip in and do a group order, running out to pick up burgers or pizza, but that takes advance planning, and that isn't exactly Steve's strong suit.
Eddie is digging around in his lunchbox, and Steve wonders what Eddie has packed in there today, pretzels, maybe a sand-
"Focus, dingus. I tried to warn you," Robin hisses, and his attention is drawn away from Eddie and his mystery lunch, when Robin taps her hand on the counter in front of him.
Steve turns to look back at her, glaring. She's his best friend, but right now, she's definitely the enemy as Bob's secretary. She could have stopped this if she'd wanted to, he's absolutely sure of it.
"You're on the party planning committee," he accuses, "and you have Bob's ear. Why didn't you make this go away for me?"
She wrings her hands, "I tried! Bob liked your dog party!"
Well, Steve has to laugh at that. That's what he gets for being smartass, he supposes. He tried to poke Nancy with a stick so he'd never have to have a turn at party planning ever again, and inadvertently just ended up coming across as a fun party planner to Bob.
Goddamnit. That was not the desired effect he'd been hoping for.
So, now he's stuck. And this is his own fault, it seems. But at least he took Eddie down with him. That's the silver-lining, for sure.
Steve will make it work. It's only a week of hell. He can survive a week.
"Trust me, we tried. None of us wanted you in charge again," Robin snaps.
"Hey!" Steve shouts back, offended, and she just laughs.
"Seriously. Nancy has standards, expectations, and dog parties aren't part of the playbook."
Steve smiles, "Well, I guess I should be left off any committees from now on."
"No such luck," Robin snarks, "but Nancy, Chrissy, Barb and I will definitely make sure whatever you two try to plan isn't dog party levels of weird."
"Gee, thanks. If you want to micromanage it, why don't you just do it yourselves? Wouldn't that just be easier for everyone involved?"
Robin shrugs, "Just make Bob happy. It's Christmas."
"Yeah, yeah," and Steve glances back, looking for Eddie again, and now he's sitting there playing finger football with Gareth as Chrissy watches. Both of them flicking a paper triangle back and forth across the break room table, trying to hit field goals through each other's finger goal posts.
That's about the extent of any sports that either one of them has ever played, Steve's pretty damn sure.
Gareth, the new kid, started a while back, and Eddie took to him immediately. Steve has tried not to be jealous. But it was hard. He still kind of wanted Eddie and his attention all to himself, as selfish as that sounds.
But he's had to learn to share, both Eddie and their desk space with Gareth, and he's watched as Eddie has tried hard to shape Gareth into a good salesman.
Robin's desk phone rings, and she picks it up, and he takes that as his cue to walk away. He heads towards the break room, and leans in the doorway, watching them play.
"I've got winner," Chrissy says, "but you can take on the winner of that match, if you want."
Steve nods and smiles, and walks on in, sliding into the only remaining chair left at the table.
When four-thirty rolls around, Bob comes over and sends Steve and Eddie off to start planning this party they are now in charge of together. At least they get a half-hour of paid nonsense time, Steve guesses.
So, now they sit in the empty meeting room at the long table, and just look at each other.
Finally, Eddie breaks the silence.
"Okay, smart guy, what's your big plan this time? Cat party?" Eddie asks, raising an eyebrow, challenging Steve.
"Yep. Pussy party," Steve says, deadpan, and Eddie tosses his head back and laughs, hair flying.
Work has definitely been more entertaining since Eddie Munson showed up last year, all long-hair and lackadaisical attitude. Eddie doesn't conform to any sort of standard expectations, won't, but he can sell like a motherfucker. He has a silvertongue that Steve only wishes he possessed. Steve can sell, too. But he has to lean heavily on being earnest. That's his angle.
But it's not Eddie's. No, Eddie can just bullshit his way through sales with anyone on the fly, easily meeting his quota and walking away with a damn good commission check every payday, and that hardly seems fair. Steve's been here forever, but Eddie took to it so much quicker.
"Pussy hats for everyone, and the party favors? Pocket pussies," Eddie states, still exploring this party idea with a shit-eating grin, and it makes Steve giggle.
If only.
Though, this still might be fun to plan together, even if that can't actually be the theme. Nancy would murder them both.
They better do something safe, like Secret Santa. Bob always likes that, and this is really for him more than it is the staff, Steve's pretty damn sure.
They can just go traditional, make everyone happy and save themselves a lot of grief.
That doesn't mean they won't sit here and bullshit, like they are really talking this thing through in great detail.
"Secret Santa? That's the theme?" Robin asks later, clearly disappointed.
"Classic. Easy peasy," Steve says, leaning on the tall counter that runs around her desk. He's waiting for her to finish up so they can leave together.
Tonight, they're all going to happy hour at Chili's. They do that from time to time. Most of the office meeting up after work to drink and let loose.
"Lazy, uninspired," she taunts, and he reaches out like he's going to flick her ear, but she dodges his hand, laughing. "Bob's gonna be disappointed in you."
"He won't. He'll love it," Steve says, and Robin knows it. She's just being difficult. "Will you make up the slips so we can draw names, or not?" he asks, trying to give her the eyes. They don't really work on her, not anymore. But he still tries.
"Fine, but this is not fun. I was expecting dog party levels of unhinged theming from you both. You disappoint me."
"You love me," Steve counters.
"Of course I do, dingus. Now leave me alone so I can finish up and we can get the fuck out of here."
He presses his hands together, bowing to her, just a little, and then heads back to his desk. Eddie is still on the phone, wheeling and dealing, like a pro.
Making money, even after hours.
Asshole.
Gareth is sitting at their desks, watching Eddie with wide eyes.
"He's good, right?" Steve asks, and Gareth nods. "It's okay if it's hard to make sales, especially at first. It's hard for all of us, except Eddie. But he's a freak."
Eddie hears him, and sticks his tongue out, not missing a beat of his phone call.
"You'll get better. I promise," Steve says, turning to look at Gareth.
Gareth nods again, and Steve smiles. Steve was probably not that much younger than him when he started working here, and it looks so young now, seeing it on Gareth. He never thought he'd still be here, all these years later.
But he's made friends here, good friends. His best friend. If he never worked here, he'd never have met Robin, and that'd be a goddamn tragedy.
And he met Eddie, so honestly, he doesn't have too many complaints.
Turns out, Nancy loves the Secret Santa theme, which Steve isn't surprised about. It's right up her alley. Normal, basic, a classic. No dog costumes to be found.
"What's the price limit?" she asks, holding her notepad in hand, and Steve looks at her. Is he supposed to decide that? He feels like that's a job for her, or maybe even Bob.
"Twenty-five dollars?" he offers, and she thinks about it for a minute, then nods, writing it in her notes, apparently agreeing with his assessment.
Great.
"And, is it a traditional Secret Santa where we draw names, or a white elephant situation?"
"Um, traditional?" he hazards a guess and she nods, happy. Apparently that was the right answer, again. He's on a roll today. Hot damn. Maybe he needs to buy a lottery ticket.
Steve sits at the high top table at Chili's, sharing an Awesome Blossom with Robin and drinking his third margarita. Eddie didn't show up. Steve is pretty sure he said he was coming, but now Eddie, Gareth, Chrissy, Jeff and Goodie are all no-shows.
That's okay.
But he would have gone home instead of coming himself if he knew Eddie was bailing. Not that he isn't enjoying spending time with Robin and everyone else, he is, but still.
He raises his finger, ordering one more drink. Robin's definitely gonna have to drive him home.
The next morning, Nancy drops off a list of party vendors for him to call, and Steve pushes it towards Eddie. He's the one with phone magic.
And Steve's a little hungover. Eddie's not.
Not to mention Steve's still a little mad at Eddie for deciding to skip happy hour without telling him.
"Hey, don't be pushing your chores off on me," Eddie says, pushing it back across the desk in Steve's direction.
They both push on the paper, in a stalemate, wrinkling it under their fingers.
Steve gives him the eyes, "C'mon. You know you'll have better luck. We'll get an awesome cake, and a great meat and cheese plate if you call. You know it."
"Which is ironic, because if the little old ladies working could see me, and then see you, it'd be you they'd be falling over themselves to please," Eddie says.
Steve rolls his eyes. Little old ladies love Eddie, at least after they look past his clothes and hair. He's too charming for them to not love him. He's got a chivalry that is innate, and Steve doesn't have that at all. He likes to think he's nice, but he's not as charismatic. The Harrington Charm is a different beast than whatever Eddie has going on, that's for damn sure.
Eventually, Eddie takes the paper, and picks up the handset of his phone, and starts dialing the first number, and Steve just grins, pleased.
He listens, and tries to ignore the dull headache that's plagued him all morning.
When Eddie hangs up the phone, he looks at Steve, "Shoulda came to Poor Richard's with us, like you said you would, and then you wouldn't have a hangover from all that chain restaurant cheap well tequila."
Steve glowers at him. They've been over this fifty times. Nobody said they were going to Poor Richard's last night. It was Chili's, and the fact that everyone else showed up at Chili's except for Eddie and his friends, is all the proof Steve needs.
Eddie didn't listen, and they ended up at different bars.
But Steve forgives him as he keeps making calls, and before long they have everything in order for next week's party.
And a week later, they all sit around in a circle of chairs like they're kindergarteners, which feels foolish. But Bob is clearly having fun, dressed in his full Santa suit, as he pulls the wrapped packages out of the bag and passes them around to their rightful owners.
It's fine. Lots of generic gift boxes. Hot cocoa samplers. Summer sausage and cheese gift sets. Blankets, mugs, candy. A foot bath. Just stuff. More things that nobody really needed, Steve's sure, but it makes Bob happy, so they all at least pretend to be excited about whatever they've gotten.
They all thank their Secret Santa, and it's all very normal. Boring. So boring.
But Steve has a plan for later that he thinks won't be quite as boring as this has been.
The gifts all opened, Steve holds open the plastic trash bag as Eddie picks up the wrapping paper off the chairs, the floor. Tidying up while the rest of the committee goes and starts getting the bar set up.
Steve isn't sure how Bob swung it, but they actually get to serve alcohol this year.
Jeff and Goodie volunteered to play bartender, and that's great with Steve. He was sure he'd get stuck doing it, with Eddie's help if he was lucky. But this is better. Way better. They'll be able to just enjoy themselves.
As soon as it's up and running, Steve and Eddie are first in line for a drink. Steve goes easy on them, but Eddie's trying to order things they definitely don't have the supplies for. The budget was limited and they decided to stick to the most popular basics.
Goodie listens to Eddie lists off his third try at an elaborate drink order, and then just pours Eddie a Jack and Coke.
"Just what I wanted," Eddie says, picking it up with a snarky grin.
They're a few drinks in, and the music has been turned up, when Steve nods towards Eddie, ready to slip away during the confusion. Steve shakes a wrapped gift in his hand, and Eddie quirks an eyebrow, curious, and follows him out into the hallway. They ride the elevator up one floor in silence, and then Steve leads Eddie into the empty bathroom on the floor right above their office space.
They can hear the thumpa thumpa of the music down below, feel it vibrating beneath their feet. Gareth and Argyle have teamed up to play DJ, and Steve is sure Nancy hates the music choices. They definitely aren't playing classic Christmas tunes, that's for damn sure.
Steve pushes the wrapped gift into Eddie's chest, and Eddie sits his drink down on the sink.
"What is this?" Eddie asks, looking down at the gift in his hands. He wasn't expecting it, clearly.
"Well, I didn't draw your name for the official Secret Santa, but I still wanted you to have your party favor," Steve says, trying to keep a straight face. This is a ridiculous thing to do. Especially at work. "Open it."
He watches while Eddie tears off the wrapping paper, throwing it onto the bathroom floor, and then Eddie's looking down at the fleshlight he's holding in his hands.
And he promptly blushes a deep crimson.
Holy shit.
Steve had no idea that Eddie could blush. Maybe this wasn't a great idea. Maybe he's about to lose his job for sexual harassment at work. At Christmas, no less.
Then, Eddie laughs. Loud and amused, eyes lighting up.
"Well, there's a first time for everything, I guess," Eddie says, turning over the toy in his hands, walking into the open stall. Steve follows.
"Not a sex toy guy?" Steve asks, crowding a little closer to him.
"Not a pussy guy," Eddie answers, then laughs, "I thought you knew that, Steve."
Yeah, Steve knew that. But he pretends he didn't.
"Oh no, do they make pocket assholes? Maybe we could exchange it, get you what you really like," Steve teases.
And Eddie grins, dimples showing, as he presses the toy back into Steve's chest, and Steve takes it.
"This one is just my favorite, and I thought you might like it," Steve says, looking Eddie right in the eye, standing nearly nose-to-nose in the cramped bathroom stall.
And Eddie is looking back at him, with an expression Steve can't really read. It looks like he's maybe surprised Steve is cool. Which is crazy. Steve's cool. Steve's been fucking guys since he was in college, girls even earlier than that. He's not really all that fussed about it. Boys, girls, both at the same time, once.
That was an interesting night, to be sure. Not one he expects to repeat anytime soon, but it's definitely an experience he's glad he had.
Steve holds the toy in his hand, studying it carefully, and then he looks up into Eddie's eyes.
"You wanna try it?" Steve asks, raising his eyebrows in question.
"Now?" Eddie asks, dropping his voice low, sounding shocked at this suggestion.
Steve shrugs, and Eddie eventually nods, slowly.
"Yeah. Yeah, let's do that," Eddie says, putting both of his hands on Steve's arms, squeezing.
"Are you sure you want to do this here? I was just kidding," Steve asks, even if he wasn't, not really. But he still wants to make sure this is something Eddie is actually interested in doing with him, here and now, and not something he's pushing onto him like a big, fucking creep.
Eddie nods and smiles, so Steve presses him back against the wall of the bathroom stall, Steve's palm firm on Eddie's shoulder. He hands the fleshlight back to Eddie, and digs a packet of lube out of his pocket, handing that over, too.
Steve reaches for Eddie belt, his zipper, and carefully, slowly, undoes his pants. Pulling them down over his ass, boxers going down with them, and then he's just looking. Staring. Wanting.
Eddie's already drizzled lube into the opening of the fake silicone pussy, so Steve takes it from him. Steve doesn't touch Eddie's dick, although it's straining, red and flushed at the tip, begging for Steve's undivided attention.
And as much as Steve wants to give it that attention, wants to drop to his knees, throw the toy aside and suck Eddie's dick, he doesn't.
Instead, Steve grips the pocket pussy in his hand, and angles it, lining it up as best he can. He nods at Eddie, and holds it steady as Eddie pushes into it. Unsure at first, but after a few test thrusts, Steve feels the pressure, the force, behind the snap of Eddie's hips with every thrust. And Steve thinks about what it'd be like if it was him Eddie was pushing his dick into, instead of this toy.
His own dick is hard, so fucking hard, just watching this happen. He can't tear his eyes away. He watches Eddie's dick go in and out.
Eddie groans, leaning forward and resting his forehead on Steve's shoulder, still moving his hips. Still fucking, still pushing his cock into the toy in Steve's hand. Again, and again.
Steve can't see now, but he can feel it. Can hear it.
It's noisy and loud, making a filthy, wet, squelching sound that sounds even more scandalous as they're hidden away in a public bathroom. Like they might get caught any second, doing this devious thing together.
Eddie winds his arms around Steve's back, and holds on tight. The action brings them even closer together, which is making it harder for Steve to maneuver his hand and the toy between their bodies, but Steve will make it work. He keeps a good grip on the fleshlight, making sure Eddie can keep moving his hips, keep pushing his dick into it, over and over again, even as he leans his weight on Steve.
"That pussy feel good?" Steve whispers, pressing his face into Eddie's hair. He smells good, and Steve leans into him.
Eddie whimpers, and nods against Steve's shirt, and Steve twists his hand, just a little, and Eddie moans.
"All pretty and pink, wet, begging for your cock," Steve whispers. "It's a pretty cock, you've got. You know that?"
He just yammering, and he's pretty sure Eddie isn't even listening. That's okay, Steve's happy to do the heavy lifting here.
"I bet it feels good. All tight, hugging your dick the whole way down.. Are you pretending it's a girl?" Steve asks, then lowers his voice, right next to Eddie's ear, "Or are you pretending it's me?"
Eddie's hips stutter, and then he pushes harder against Steve's hand.
"Steve," Eddie breathes out, and Steve smiles.
"I'd bend right over for you," Steve says, "beg you to push your cock in me."
Steve can tell by the change in Eddie's breathing that he's getting close to coming. Goddamn. That's a pretty sight and sound.
Steve's own dick is straining in his pants, wanting.
"Would you come inside me?" Steve asks, and that's it. Eddie groans, and pushes his dick into the toy as far as he can, coming. Steve presses his face in Eddie's hair, kissing the side of his head.
Eddie pulls back from Steve's body, and then slides his dick out of the toy with a sloppy, wet sound, and they both laugh. Steve looks down at Eddie's heavy cock, spent and wet, and wants. Wants to put his mouth on Eddie, wants to lick him clean.
He thinks he will, but Eddie interrupts his thoughts.
"You want sloppy seconds?" Eddie asks, and Steve nearly comes in his pants as he nods.
That's not something he had thought of, but he hands the toy to Eddie, and reaches for his own zipper. He pulls his neglected dick out, palms it, strokes it. It's so hard. Eddie's made him so fucking hard, so horny, he can't even think straight.
"Look at you, big boy," Eddie says, and he doesn't keep his hands to himself. He strokes Steve once, twice, and then helps guide him into the used toy.
It's still kind of warm inside, sloppy and wet with Eddie's come, and Steve feels like a deviant, but doesn't really give a fuck. Not really.
Because this is good.
So goddamn good.
Eddie presses his mouth to Steve's, and they kiss while Steve thrusts into the toy in Eddie's hand, and it's one of the dirtiest things he's ever done in his whole life.
Steve's just getting into a nice rhythm, when Eddie takes the toy away, and replaces it with his mouth. Goddamn, that's better. That's so much better.
Eddie pulls off, and looks up at him, "You taste like me."
Steve groans, letting his head fall back against the metal wall of the stall, closing his eyes as Eddie sucks his dick, then slides it back into the fleshlight, alternating. Dragging this out, extending it, and it's beyond anything he could have ever dreamed up.
He had a small idea, a basic one, and Eddie has taken that and crafted it into a fucking experience of a lifetime.
Steve tangles his hands in Eddie's hair, and looks down to meet Eddie's eyes, as he continues to work his cock, over and over.
"You gonna come in my mouth or in the pussy?" Eddie asks, hand stroking Steve's dick lazily, looking up at him for an answer. He wants both. How can he choose?
But if he doesn't choose, he's gonna come in Eddie's hand. Still good, but a distant third among the options available.
"Your mouth," Steve finally says.
"Good choice, Harrington," Eddie answers, and slides his mouth over Steve's dick again, and again, until Steve can't hold out any longer.
He comes right against Eddie tongue, and Eddie pulls off, looks up at him, and swallows.
Merry Fucking Christmas to him. Jesus.
They straighten their clothes, try to smooth out all the wrinkles, and Eddie takes a gulp of his now watered down whiskey sitting on the bathroom counter, swishing it in his mouth, and spitting into the sink.
"What am I supposed to do with this?" Steve asks, holding the wet and freshly washed fleshlight in his hand.
"Take it home. Use it later and think of me," Eddie says, holding out the box Steve had wrapped it in.
Steve puts it back, and takes the box from Eddie's hands.
He'll do just that.
Eddie pushes him against the bathroom door, and kisses him again, and this is the best night of Steve's life, he's pretty goddamn sure.
They ride the elevator down, and when they're back in their own office, Steve shoves the now unwrapped box into his desk drawer and follows Eddie back towards the rest of their partying co-workers.
Their friends.
Eddie starts bouncing on his feet, dancing with Chrissy and Steve smiles as he watches. Everybody seems to be having fun, and Steve decides this was a success.
Later that night, long after the party had winded down, Steve crawls into bed at home, and curls into Eddie's side.
"Have fun tonight?" Steve asks, and Eddie runs his hand up and down Steve's arm.
"Yeah, I especially liked the part where my boyfriend acted like we've never fucked before," Eddie says, throwing his leg over Steve's hip.
"Very funny."
Eddie laughs, "We're gonna have to file our relationship with HR sooner or later. I'm pretty sure my poker face is horrendous, and they're gonna figure it out."
Steve nods. He knows. Though, he's pretty fucking everyone in the office knows already, anyway. Gareth clocked them his first week, not realizing it was a secret. So, it's obvious. Eddie loves him, and Eddie can't hide that look on his face, not at all. It makes Steve so fucking happy that Eddie feels that way about him, like he loves him so much that he can't pretend he doesn't.
That they love each other this much.
So, they're gonna have to fess up. That's okay, he doesn't actually give a shit. They aren't gonna fire him, and they definitely aren't gonna fire Eddie. He's unorthodox, but he brings in tons of cash and clients.
And they're just co-workers, there's nothing saying they can't be together.
"I can't believe you wrapped your pocket pussy and dragged it to work," Eddie laughs, burying his nose in Steve's hair.
Steve grins.
"Surprised you, though?" Steve asks, turning his head, to smile at Eddie.
"Definitely surprised me," Eddie answers, grinning right back.

Notes: Nancy seem familiar? Yeah, she was definitely inspired by Angela from The Office, with that party planning committee vibe, lol. I needed someone to be that character, and Nancy seemed more likely than Robin or Chrissy. And the "prepare for every possible disaster" line is a Angela-ism, from the S2 ep, as told by Ryan. I like to think Dwight, or a Dwight-like character, was Steve's deskmate before Eddie.
And Nancy and Jonathan's whole secret (Dwight and Angela style) relationship random mention was added just so I could accurately tag secret relationship, but that it might slip past that I was also referring to Steve and Eddie, lol. Could you have known they were together before Steve did the sex toy thing? For sure. Was it more fun for me to imagine, just for a second, that he was just being very forward and inappropriate with co-worker Eddie who wasn't expecting it? Of course.
Work Like a Dog day is August 5th if you want to add to your calendar, lol.
Bob! ❤️ I think this might be the first time I've had a place to use him in a fic.
Chili's and Poor Richard's were both shout-outs to The Office, many thanks to them for lending me their set-up for this fic. As soon as I chose this prompt, The Office, was the first idea in my head.
And trying to pin down the exact year this is set in made my head hurt. It must be, like, 1999. Then fleshlights exist, but cell phones aren't glued to our hands quite yet. But pussy hats are much more modern. But then Awesome Blossoms are discontinued. I don't know. It's an alternate universe. Go with it. 🤣
Thanks for reading! ❤️

Can you make a hc of wally and the gang playing evade with the reader? if you don't know about evade, Evade is a game on roblox where you run away from the NPCS chasing you. You can revive players by carrying them away from the NPCS and revive them, You should look at the videos on tiktok for info or play it on roblox! (SORRY IF THIS IS CRINGE OR BAD GRAMMAR. IM NOT GOOD AT EXPLAINING THINGS😭-)

WELCOME HOME PLAYS EVADE
ft. you!
warnings: none
a/n: this idea is so funny to me jshsjsh and don’t worry about anything being ‘cringe’. cringe culture is dead and this is a judgement free blog <3
also i’m just gonna assume that the neighbourhood has access to the internet and roblox for the sake of entertainment purposes lol

🍬 when julie initially introduced the game to everyone, most of you were apprehensive. the game didn’t look like much from the description she gave you but now that you’ve been playing it for hours on end, you were most definitely wrong-
🍬 let’s just say there is always a lot of screaming (mostly from eddie and sally).
🍬 wally practically owns all the cosmetics in the game. goodness knows how he even managed that.
🍬 you are everyone’s saviour. you’ve ran out of fingers (and toes) to count the amount of times you’ve had to run into the direct line of danger to save frank or howdy from the jaws of death.
🍬 barnaby once got stuck in an emote and couldn’t figure out how to stop it while running. you’d just round a corner and there would be barnaby’s roblox avatar breakdancing as he screams for everyone to run in the other direction.
🍬 eddie, bless his heart, sacrifices himself for frank every time it’s needed. the gesture is cute but frank always tells him off for not playing the game correctly.
🍬 poppy usually sticks with you the entire game thanks to not being the greatest with technology. she is always asking what the mechanics of the game do whenever she forgets.
🍬 wally is such a cheat. if he can sacrifice any of you to save himself, he will. he finds it hilarious when you give him the biggest look of betrayal.
🍬 “i saved your skin! how could you?!”
i’ve only ever played evade a total of two times, both with my sister, so i tried to leave this kinda vague with just the general idea of the game in mind xoxo

Hi, I know I've said it a lot of times, but I really love your writing. It seems like watching a movie because while reading I can actually picture it in my head.
I wanted to ask you how you plan your characters or stories. I mean, do you immediately get an idea and start working on it or you have to think and rethink about it until you find the right inspiration?
like you mentioned in a previous ask about how you created Vic, and you said you were flexible because he wasn't really described in the novel, but still he had to fit in some image. But what about implementing new characters to an existing universe? I'm thinking about dwm reader, Scottie, Evelyn, Hannah-Beth etc, they all feel like they belong there and I'm wondering how you decided to create them the way they are.
Also, if I think about DWM everything is falling into the right place and when I read a knew part of the story I'm like "oh this was hinted chapters ago" and I think it really is amazing or also the little references here and there, I think it shows how much effort you put in that story. And..I'm curious to know...are the reader and Jason actually friends? He had some kind gestures towards her, but were they out of kindness or because she is his girlfriend's bff?
Regarding the future fics... I'm kinda loving all of your ideas, I'm looking forward to read the one where he gets jealous, or when she gets high because I strongly believe it's going to be hilarious and super cute, and you know everything involving Scottie or Gareth and the other guys.
I always write too much, so I get it if you want to skip this one 😂
Hi! First of all, I would never skip one of your asks (or anyone else's for that matter). If someone takes the time to write me a question, they deserve a well-thought-out response. Always.
Anyway, regarding how I approach my stories, I usually get an idea (or a random scene pops into my head) and I build off that one idea. With DWM, for instance, it was the image of Eddie hanging out in the bathroom with a girl at prom, and I just built the rest of the story around that. "Who is this girl?" "Why is she here?" "Why is Eddie here?" etc. I always have a general outline before I start writing, but it's not rigid because I always come up with new ideas and directions for the story as I write. For example, I was always planning on having the reader have a little crush on Eddie, but it wasn't supposed to be as deep as it ended up being (certainly not one she was harboring for 6 years 😂). That changed while I was writing Pt. 3 and then by Pt. 4, I had their relationship and history completely figured out, and that ultimately changed the entire direction of the story.
I have a similar approach to characters. With DWM, I knew instantly that I wanted the reader to be Chrissy's best friend who's kinda stuck living in her shadow. I think she plays up her sarcastic, snarky persona in an attempt to stand out from Chrissy. She wants to be the sour to Chrissy's sweet; otherwise, she would be even more invisible than she already is. I also gave her a lot of my own qualities and flaws, and most of her personal anecdotes are taken directly from my life. Yeah, DWM is completely self-indulgent. I basically created a fictionalized version of myself and had her date Eddie, and I'm not ashamed to admit it.
With Paper Men, most of those characters were born out of necessity. I needed a main character to guide us through the story, and Richie already had a sister (who doesn't appear) in the movie, so that was an easy starting point. I just created my vision of his sister, taking a lot of his qualities and twisting them around to suit her. Since I decided to make Evelyn a very friendly and outgoing person, I needed to give her friends, so I made Hannah, the shy Christian girl who's obsessed with trashy romance novels and lives vicariously through Evelyn (I love her so much), and Paul, the professional slacker who's always sabotaging her grand plans with his laziness. Because most of the story takes place at school and Evelyn is so involved in school, I needed the school to feel real, so I created a bunch of students to populate it. Gradually, a lot of them developed their own unique identities, and I let them go crazy.
Another thing I like to do is create a lot of shared history between the characters. I think that's an easy way to make all the characters feel like they exist in the same world. That's why both DWM and Paper Men make so many references to the past.
Speaking of references, I'm glad you appreciate all my foreshadowing and callbacks to earlier stories/scenes in DWM because that's one of my favorite things to do when I write. Whenever I'm working on a new story, I always try to think about how it relates to what's already happened and how it will affect future works. For instance, the most recent fic "Out of the Loop" has set the foundation for a lot of future fics. The reader is definitely going to find out about Claire Dunnock, the girl who Eddie absolutely slept with 😬. Claire said she had a class with Eddie last year, well... guess who else was in that class? The reader and she saw them flirting. I don't have it on the list, but it'll be a story. The reader has already expressed discomfort about Eddie's previous sexual experiences, and this will only make that worse.
Finally moving on!
To speak about Jason and the reader's relationship. They are truly friends and not just because of Chrissy (although that is a huge factor). They've known each other since elementary school. They weren't "hang out outside of school" friends, but they were friends. I've mentioned this before, but the reader used to have a crush on Jason back in elementary school, but once she found out he liked Chrissy, she had to let that crush go. She can't compete with Chrissy. Nobody would ever choose her over Chrissy. So she had no choice but to step back and surrender. She doesn't have romantic feelings for him anymore, but she still admires his good qualities (and Jason does have really great qualities). That being said, Jason does truly care about her as a person, which is why he bought her a corsage and danced with her at prom. It wasn't just because he felt sorry for her or because he felt obligated to do it. He genuinely cares about her, and he thinks she can do a lot better than Eddie.
Lastly, regarding future fics, the one where the reader finally gets to high school is going to be funny (because Scottie's in it and he knows that Eddie has been pining for the reader for the last two years) but it's also going to be really sad. They're both so excited to see each other and are secretly hoping to jump back into their friendship again, but as we know from the main story, that doesn't happen. They don't talk to each other. Nobody apologizes. They just fall into their expected roles and go back to being strangers. It's almost as if that summer never even happened. It's really sad and Eddie takes it very hard.
Holy crap, I wrote too much. Gold star to anyone who finished this! ⭐️

Your cute writing prompt is first date but 1 of them doesn’t realise it’s a date (dealer’s choice on the pairing but something stranger things please)
I got LOVELY prompts earlier this week and I'm still working through them! Just HAD to take this moment to reveal myself as a Buckingham truther, TAKE ME AS I AM BELOVED PALS!
MASSIVE HUGE THANKS TO THE ANGEL AND DEVIL ON MY SHOULDER @greenlikethesea for talking this through with me and lending me their amazing brainpower
So Robin wasn’t like, surprised or weirded out or anything at first. Because this, this is normal! This is a thing they’ve been doing, this is just like a convenient case of two people with aligned interests and a common goal uniting their efforts for the cause! The quest! All of that stuff. Normal. Not weird. Not surprising.
Because last Friday, it had been sitting at the back of the movie theater. Wednesday before that, it had been a discreet table at the back of Laurenzo’s Pizza two towns over. And Saturday before that, it had been maximum incognito mode to see Eddie’s gig at the Hideout, the two of them kind of taking their eyes off the prize to dissolve into giggles at each other’s Rocker Chick disguises. They probably weren’t all that convincing.
But Chrissy is sliding into the booth next to her, a giant precariously-swirled cone of soft serve in each delicate hand, and Robin has to face facts—Steve and Eddie are nowhere to be seen.
She’d thought it was a little funny at first, not funny like hahaha hilarious but funny like strange, how Chrissy had just fearlessly led the way into the Cone Zone. Not the fearless part. Robin had only known Chrissy from the Before Vecna times the way a lot of people had known her, which is to say not actually knowing her at all but assuming that she had her all figured out regardless. But in the After Vecna times Robin has witnessed again and again Chrissy’s growing assuredness, her steps into confidence that wasn’t just faked but absolutely truly down to the soles of her sweet unblemished Keds genuine. So that wasn’t a surprise by any means. It was more the lack of…sneak.
Listen, okay. Everyone knows what’s happening here. That first-time-that-wasn’t-a-first-time, when Steve had finally got his shit together and invited Eddie out for a burger, Robin had looked across the restaurant and into the big blue eyes of Chrissy Cunningham, sitting alone and casual as anything on the other side of the room (Eddie and Steve both being horrendously fake-cool at a table smack dab in the middle of the room between them). Chrissy had probably figured out what was happening immediately, judging by the somewhat less angelic than usual smile spreading across her sweet face, but Robin figured it out when Eddie made a suave smoking gesture and jerked his thumb at the door, and on the way out actually pretty smoothly jerked his head a little bit at Chrissy. Who immediately hopped up and followed after him, sending a little wiggly-fingered wave to Robin once his back was turned to her.
Steve meanwhile had whipped around in his seat to stare at Robin, eyes wide. She flashed him two thumbs up and a wide grin which, given how Steve scowled at her, was either too manic or not convincing enough or probably both. You good? Robin mouthed at him across the restaurant, and Steve immediately emphatically shook his head no. He turned back around, apparently sufficiently comforted, and sank his face into his hands.
So he didn’t see how Chrissy Cunningham slid into the free chair next to Robin, making her jump and nearly knock over her glass of water. Chrissy was in pristine white jeans and a cozy-looking chunky white knit sweater and it’s just water but still Robin would have felt like, kind of bad to mar anything about her. Would have felt like smudging a greasy fingerprint over a stained glass window or something.
“Is it cheating if we compare notes?” Chrissy asked in a conspiratorial whisper, reaching out to steady Robin’s water glass.
“Notes?” Robin said uneasily, watching as Eddie made his way back to their table, where Steve fortunately was apparently done freaking out and sitting back in his chair looking kind of normal. Looking good, maybe, if the way Eddie’s face broke out into a small, soft smile was anything to go by.
“On how it’s going,” Chrissy supplied. “I just had to talk Eddie down from running off into the night and stranding Steve here out of anxiety, which he seriously thought was the best idea for a second there, so I think it’s going pretty great.”
“Uh,” Robin blinked into her face, shooting a glance over at Steve like maybe he can help her out here, before remembering that oh yeah, they’re kind of here to do the opposite. “I think Steve just tried to kill me with his eyeballs? So yeah, great, pretty great.”
Chrissy laughed, a sweet little fairy tinkle of a sound, and oh no, Robin was so charmed. “Our job is done, then. Think they can take it from here?”
They both looked over at Eddie and Steve.
“No way,” Chrissy said, right as Robin sighed “absolutely not.”
And that’s how it goes for a little while. Steve asks Robin to hang around, just in case, and Eddie asks Chrissy to hang around, just in case, and Chrissy and Robin hang around with each other, because it gets kind of old to sit around restaurants and bowling alleys and movie theaters waiting for their idiot best friends to figure out how to make a move on each other. It’s more fun to be able to keep each other company, especially since after the inevitable first twenty minutes, Eddie and Steve don’t really need them. Not until the last twenty minutes, when the question of a Kiss becomes imminent, and the two of them completely lose their minds. The guys, the guys lose their minds. Chrissy and Robin don’t lose anything except for maybe their patience. Not that Chrissy shows it, saving her eyerolls for Robin and turning only sweet support and an encouragingly squeezed hand to Eddie during his “smoke breaks.” Robin’s the asshole, maybe, sticking her tongue out at Steve and making exaggerated shooing motions. To each her own, anyway. It seems to work okay for Eddie and Steve, except for how A Kiss has yet to be achieved.
After that first week or so, Steve doesn’t always feel like he needs Robin there, and Eddie doesn’t always need Chrissy. Depending on the location, or their moods, or whatever, either Robin or Chrissy are theoretically off the Emotional Support Friend clock. So if Robin calls Chrissy and tells her they’re headed for the Hideout tonight, or Chrissy swings by Robin’s closing shift at Family Video brandishing to The Fly, they both just come along.
It’s just. They’re having fun, okay? It’s kind of boring and weird to sit alone in a movie theater watching the backs of Steve and Eddie’s heads get closer and closer together. But it’s fun to sit with Chrissy, to whisper jokes in the dark, to bob their heads along to music neither of them would usually listen to. Chrissy is fun. Robin is having fun, and that’s fine, that’s okay, she can have fun while Steve is making himself crazy over whether or not Eddie likes him likes him (Eddie probably wouldn’t have Chrissy lurking in the background if he didn’t, just like Steve somehow needs Robin there to prop up his more-fragile-than-he-acts confidence, but Robin doesn’t want to point that out).
Steve and Eddie have to know what’s going on. Probably. They should, but with those two, Robin figures you can’t exactly rely on an overabundance of brainpower. Or, to be more fair, any kind of spatial awareness when the other one is around. Which is sweet, actually, it really is, the way they just lean into each other and go a little blind to everything else around them, and don’t seem to register that their best pals aren’t alone on these little moral support missions. Steve dragged Robin into the Cineplex bathroom for a dramatic recitation of hands brushing in the popcorn bucket and what it might mean (gross) and didn’t even for a second question why Robin was here when he hadn’t actually told her about this date.
But anyway, that’s not the point, the point is that it’s not weird for Chrissy to just pick Robin up with a destination, and even if Robin hadn’t heard that there was a date happening didn’t mean there wasn’t one.
But they’re at the Cone Zone, and Chrissy isn’t even bothering to sneak around like they can’t be spotted by Steve and Eddie, and she’s pushing a cone into Robin’s hand and blinking those big blue eyes at Robin with a small smile.
Robin has some questions, suddenly. But she also has a dripping cone in her hand, and that takes priority. While she gets her thoughts in order, she licks up the side of the cone.
She’s not trying to be like. It’s not a move, okay! Robin has never consciously tried to pull a move in her entire life. The thought is actually terrifying.
Not as terrifying as how Chrissy goes absolutely still, her lips parting in a silent oh, blush rising on her cheeks. Her own ice cream is dripping down the cone and onto her fingers, but she absolutely doesn’t appear to have noticed.
“So, uh,” Robin clears her throat. “There’s no date?”
“Oh, there’s a date,” Chrissy says. “It’s just not Steve and Eddie’s.”
Chrissy slides a little closer to her on the booth, the wide neck of her pink sweater slipping a little further down on her shoulder. There’s a fat strawberry blonde ringlet falling right across the strap of a lacey cream bra, and Robin wants to do something crazy like take that ringlet in her hands, run her fingers over it and move it to the size. Get a better look the hollow of her collarbone that gives Robin a pang of concern, a tender impulse to hold Chrissy close, and the lace of that strap, get her fingertips under that too and see if it’s as soft as it looks, if it’ll slide as easily off Chrissy’s shoulder and–.
Robin yanks her eyes up to Chrissy’s face, knows she’s going bright red, but Chrissy’s eyes aren’t on Robin, they’re over Robin’s shoulder with a kind of beseeching expression and–
Seized by a sudden suspicion, Robin whips her head around. And–no way, no way, there at the other side of Cone Zone, wearing a laughable Colts baseball cap and a giant pair of sunglasses that she suspects–no, she knows for sure– belong to Steve, is Eddie Munson. His black leather jacket zipped up under his chin, black boots on and looking like he’s about to rob a bank or something. She’s not sure how she missed him before, but he is unmistakably flashing a double thumbs-up at the two of them, before he sees Robin looking over and immediately drops his hands. And then drops to the floor, sliding right out of the chair and under the table, like a puppet with his strings cut.
Next to her, Chrissy groans.
“He promised he’d play it cool,” Chrissy is saying when Robin turns back to her, knowing she’s got a goody, disbelieving smile spreading across her face. Chrissy’s cheeks are a little red too, her blue eyes bright and a little anxious, but she’s smiling. Her perfect, sweet little smile, the imperfection of her crooked little canines just adding to the overall Chrissy effect.
“Cool? Eddie?” Robin asks, scooting a little closer to Chrissy in the booth. “For being your best friend, I feel like you might not know the guy that well.”
“Well, I thought maybe being thoroughly kissed by the boy he’s crazy about might have mellowed him out,” Chrissy says conspiratorially, leaning in close like it’s a confession.
“Whaaaaat?” Robin whispers, leaning in closer too. “Steve didn’t tell me!”
“It just happened,” Chrissy says, slowly raising her cone to her lips and taking a long lick up the side without taking her eyes off Robin. “After all our riding along, Steve apparently just snapped and ambushed Eddie right in the Dustin’s driveway. I told Eddie that the DM voice was working.”
Robin forgets how to breathe. “So we’re. Uh. Celebrating their success?”
Chrissy smiles, less the angel and more an absolute devil, all sharp little teeth and wicked curving lips. “Guess again.”
“Celebrating… our success? At getting them together?” Robin sets her ice cream down, not caring that it’ll probably make a mess all over the table, though as a former person who had to clean that kind of gross stuff up she really should have more empathy. She can’t quite muster it though, as she gives into the temptation of that auburn ringlet and picks it up, slides it slowly between two fingers.
“Or our success at not needing weeks to realize we had an audience,” Chrissy whispers. “You figured it out right away.”
Robin preens a little. “We can also celebrate our success at not needing weeks to work up to a kiss,” she says, feeling dizzy, feeling bold.
Chrissy’s eyes light up, and she lets out a breathy little laugh. Their hands are sticky with melted ice cream when Robin laces their fingers together, and Chrissy’s lips are a little cold but sweet, so sweet against hers when she leans in for a quick kiss, that still seems to go on for a million eons.
There’s a whoop from somewhere behind them, followed by the sound of someone who certainly has not chilled out at all after whatever debauching he’d had earlier, trying to cover his noise of triumph with an over the top and obviously fake coughing fit.
Chrissy sighs, exasperated, against Robin’s lips before pulling back. It makes Robin’s toes curl in her shoes.
“Let’s go?” Robin suggests. “Somewhere without an audience?”
“Yes please,” Chrissy says, and doesn’t let go of Robin’s hand, even as she blows Eddie a kiss as she drags Robin past his table and out the door, into the night.

Week 34/2023
Christian Cage vs Darby Allin (AEW Collision 19.08.2023) - Christian is doing great crowd work, he's such a good heel, and Darby is breaking his neck as usual. Also Christian's sleeveless turtleneck gives me life.
John Cena vs. John Bradshaw Layfield (WWE Judgement Day 2005) - The moment Cena starts bleeding like a pig (just one year after Eddie Guerrero did it at the same PPV!) this turns into some Sam Raimi shit. While the two men are locked in mortal combat there's always a little guy holding a mic in their faces for the "I quit" stipulation. It's hilarious.
CM Punk vs. Samoa Joe (AEW All In 2023) - Both live and on video this was absolutely amazing. The two of them deliver like a best of their three matches in the span of 14 minutes, the crowd is eating it up and going insane, heat levels like it's 1978, Joe being cute, Punk bleeding. Perfect.

The John Hughes Blues Pt. 5
<- prev | find it on AO3! | next ->
idk I tried to include something a little *spicy* here but its my first time attempting ANYTHING even vaguely spicy so idk it kinda just. comes off as awkward. but c'est la vie.
Steve hasn’t made pulling away easy though, that’s for sure. Eddie, selfish Eddie, always pushed whenever he was with him. He did as much as he dared, only stole as much as he felt he was allowed, always tried to toe the line between platonic and romantic. A lingering touch, a goofy smile, only as much as could be passed off as a touchy personality; sometimes a bit more when a little liquid courage made his lips and limbs loose. It was a constant push and pull, pushing what he felt was the limit, then pulling back when the cowardice kicked in. When he was on an upswing, he was constantly doing more, getting closer, trying to find the limit that would cause Steve to push him back with a disgusted look.
But this was the thing—he never reached that limit. Steve never told him to stop, or fuck off, or even gave him a weird look. It was like he almost… welcomed the advances. Played along. He was the first person to never tell Eddie he was being too much.
One such instance of Eddie pushing his luck was when he tried to teach Steve to play last spring. It had been one of the first really warm days of the year, and the little window fans in Eddie’s trailer were doing nothing for the iron bull effect of a metal box on a hot day. Both boys had their shirts off; Eddie wasn’t sure where he got the courage to do that, but he thought being able to ogle at Steve Harrington’s chest had helped drown out his own insecurities. Eddie had lent him Black Sabbath’s Paranoid tape the week before, and Steve was now demanding he teach him to play Ironman on guitar. While Eddie may have usually scoffed at people declaring one of a band’s most popular songs their favorite, he had to admit Ironman had a pretty sick riff. So he conceded, and went to fetch his baby from her stand in the corner of the room.
They spent the next half hour mostly messing around, Eddie trying to teach Steve some chords and Steve whining that those weren’t what the “cool rockstars played,” before proceeding to improvise a simply god-awful fingerpicking progression. It was truly bad, and pitifully endearing. When Eddie actually got Steve to focus, (Eddie knew how hypocritical that sounded, but he didn’t mess around when it came to guitar) he wasn’t half bad. His fingers were long and strong, and once he had gotten the opening chord progression to Ironman down pretty solidly, Eddie found out that he did a hilarious Ozzy Osbourne impression, pitching his voice and making it gravelly.
After one particularly smooth run-through, Eddie complimented him with a, “Jeez Harrington, you should join a rock band. You’d get all the girls going wild.”
“Sure, all the girls, and more.” Was the response. He wasn’t sure what the hell that meant, but he tried not to read too far into it.
After a little over an hour, Steve could confidently play a couple guitar chords, and any focus the both of them had had was gone. Maybe it was something about the heat making his brain fuzzy, or having Steve Harrington shirtless on his bed, or being able to wrap his body around his to correct his form, ignoring the sticky skin-on-skin and trying even harder to ignore his runaway heart, but watching his large hands wrap around the neck of the guitar, fingers growing confident, was giving Eddie some bad bad thoughts. These bad thoughts probably contributed to what happened next.
He wasn’t quite sure what happened, all he knew was that one second Steve was plucking out a chord and frowning, the next he was reaching to adjust the tuning with something about it “sounding off,” and the moment after that something primal had kicked in. There was no way in hell he was letting an absolute newbie do anything to his guitar, even if it was rather harmless and even if they were a super cute boy. He grabbed Steve’s wrist with one hand, the other wrenching the guitar from his grip. He swiftly but carefully laid the guitar further down the bed, and without letting go of Steve, hoisted his body up and over his.
All of sudden, Eddie Munson found himself hovering over Steve Harrington, straddling his lap. If he let himself pause to think about what was happening, he thought he might implode, so he just let the momentum of the moment take him where it wanted. He found himself sitting up and pushing a hand to Steve’s chest, pushing him back against the bed. The adrenaline made Eddie feel like he was ready to vomit, but he couldn’t stop now. He grabbed a fistful of Steve’s shirt, and he swore he heard him fucking whimper.
“Nobody,” He growled, “touches my baby without asking.” He leaned in closer, his breath a ghost on the shell of his ear. “Not even you, pretty boy.”
He could feel the rapid rise and fall of the chest beneath his fist, and when he pulled back, Steve’s eyes were wide, pupils huge. Eddie groaned, the guilt hitting him like a sack of bricks. He sat back, head buried in Steve’s chest because he didn’t dare look him in the face any longer.
He wasn’t at all sure what had made him do it. It was something he had done a million times in his dreams, so maybe it was the idea of playing out that fantasy that had given him the courage to finally do something. Or maybe the heatstroke was setting in.
“Fuck.” He groaned. “Fuck!” He said again, more emphatically. “Fuck, I’m so fucking sorry. That was so out of line, I’m such an idiot, I’m so fucking sorry oh my god.”
A hesitant hand reached down, lightly stroking his hair. “N-no,” he sounded strained. “It’s okay.” Steve cleared his throat. “I shouldn’t have messed with anything, it’s my fault.”
“Shut the fuck up.” He sighed, rolling off of Steve and back onto the bed. He felt something sharp stab into his back. “And fucking ow!” He cursed, shooting up and rubbing his back. He frowned at the offending sharp object, which turned out to be… the head of his guitar. What a fucking hypocrite. “Wow. I’m sorry. I really have no excuse now.”
Steve was laughing. “Yeah, no dude, you’re good.” And just like that, the moment had passed. Eddie wasn’t sure how he would ever recover from the extreme embarrassment of like, all of that, but if Steve was willing to move on and just forget it happened, that worked fine for him.
There was no way he was going to forget about any of that anytime soon, though. God, the way he had looked under him, the way he had felt under him, the noises he had made, small whimpering things that had kept Eddie company on many many nights. The thing was, he could deal with sexual. That was what lotion and tissues were for. When feelings got involved, that was when he had to call it quits.
He knew he was fucked, like, irrevocably, when they watched that stupid Sixteen Candles movie. He had felt himself falling when Steve started caring. Though hard to pin down exactly when that happened, he had known he could deal with it because Steve wasn’t doing anything particularly tempting, and he knew good ol’ repression could work… most of the time. When Steve pulled That Shit with the guitar, he still convinced himself he was, like, fine, because he knew could keep himself in check… most of the time. But when they had watched that fucking movie, and Steve had fucking pat him, he had known he was done for.

Q: Why wasn’t there an Adopt a Jock (lol I wrote this as Adopt a Joke. Sorry Steve.) update this week? (slash sevenish days Idk time is dumb)
A: It was Steddie Big Bang Time! I am so excited to work with both my artists, and REALLY fricken excited to finally be able to give ya’ll a snippet.
They mention Hopper’s death here but its pre S4, they don’t know he’s actually alive.
                                              Eddie
"Tonight is a good night for the other guy, not me, to die."
--What We Do In The Shadows
A scenario for you to ponder:
You are trapped in the dead police chief's cabin. With you are your three best friends, your life-long gay crush, and several children, one of which is supposedly telekinetic.
Maybe two.
You're not sure because one of the demonic plant-penis dogs prowling around in packs outside gave you a concussion.
You have two options available to you.
Option One) you and your loser friends hunker down with your hands over your ears while Mr. Sexy Chest and the children figure a way out.
This option has the highest chance of you and your besties surviving, unscathed.
Option Two) You tell Mr. Sexy Chest that you know how to hotwire cars and can likely get the police truck outside running in an ill fated attempt at impressing his very straight (and very firm) ass.
This option has the biggest chance of you dying, a virgin sacrifice to the monsters in the woods like every horror movie idiot known to man.
Eddie Munson, elbow deep in wires, cursed himself for being a very stupid man.
"Can I just say, for the record, that this is really dumb?" He huffed, wiping sweat off his brow with the back of his hand.
The truck had clearly been sitting here since the old man had died. Likely before then, because Eddie had taken one look at the wires underneath the steering wheel and knew immediately the engine was going to need some work before he even bothered trying to wake her.
Steve, who had a hip rested against the truck, turned to look over his shoulder, down at where Eddie was ducked under the raised hood.  "You can but it won't make you feel better."
"Great." Eddie said, planting both hands on either side of the engine.
Fucking truck.
Fucking--monsters, and the military and Steve Harrington holding a bloody bat with nails in it casually, like guarding Eddie’s back while he stole a cop car was just a casual Tuesday to him.
It probably was, considering all Eddie had heard.
"Does it help any if I tell you this is actually one of our better plans, and not just because we usually don't get to spend a lot of time on them?" Steve said it like a peace offering, instead of the absolute insanity it sounded like.
Eddie sighed. "No Steve, it doesn't."
"I didn't think it would.” Steve replied and from the corner of his eye, Eddie watched him rub his nose. “It is a little funny though."
He looked like he was trying to hold back a smile, like he somehow actually found them having spent a solid two hours coming up with a plan to be hilarious, and if it didn’t make his entire being glow brighter than the dumb yellow sweater he was wearing, Eddie would have cursed him out.
"God I hate how cute you are." Eddie muttered instead, sticking his head back in the engine. If he could just connect this one wire-!
Then his brain caught up with his mouth.
‘Oh my god I can’t believe I just said that out loud.
"What?" Steve asked, confused, and oh, thank god.
“I said I hated how cut up the wires are. Hand me some of that black tape would you?” Eddie said, sticking his hand up, thanking every deity he could think of that his mouth hadn’t managed to out him.
He’d gotten too far in this backwards, hick town to get murdered now.
Muttered angrily to himself under his breath as he continued to do his best to get Hopper’s old clunker up and running.
He wasn’t sure how this guy had the thing going for as long as he did, but as far as Eddie could tell?
The truck ran on magic and well-wishes, both of which they were fresh out of.
“Come on, come on…” Eddie coaxed, as he finally managed to successfully splice and tape the two wires he’d been fiddling with together.
It wasn’t a solid fix, but it should be enough to get them out of here.
"Dude it's okay. If you're like--freaked out." Steve said abruptly, and where the hell had that come from!?
Eddie slammed his wrench down on the edge of the truck, standing up from the bent over crouch he’d been in so he could face Harrington.
"Steve,” He deadpanned, “I think anyone who isn’t freaked out by all this has something wrong with them."
He got a defensive look in return. "I'm just saying! It's normal! You don't have to brave face it or anything, we've all collectively had a lot of breakdowns over this."
He just got a stare in return.
For a brief second he thinks maybe Steve is bringing up last night. That he’s suddenly returned to his King Shit status, rubbing it in Eddie’s face how he’d had not just one breakdown when the demodogs attacked but another one later, when all the adrenaline had left him with nothing but mounting anxiety and panic.
Except when Steve turns to look at him his face isn’t mocking at all, and--oh.
Oh.
Steve, Eddie realized with abrupt clarity, was giving Eddie the speech he wishes someone had given him.
This wasn't another weird language game or that fake-nice thing people did where they act friendly to get an up front show of Eddie’s weirdness, just to  make fun of him later for it.
This is honestly. Plain and simple.
Eddie doesn’t know what to do with it.
“Thanks.” He manages, voice now quiet. “That’s…thanks.”
Steve looks away again, rubbing the back of his neck and god, where was this Steve Harrington in high school? Yeah Eddie had seen glimpses of him in his senior year but what about all the years prior?
The guy before him in jeans and a yellow sweater gave off sad single mother vibes so hard Eddie felt an urge to hug him until all the bullshit went away.
Except the bullshit wasn’t just the seven annoying freshmen, but also crazy monsters and shit.
“She uh, she should run now.” Eddie said awkwardly, tapping the car as he turned to remove the few tools he and Steve had managed to scrounge up. “I won’t turn her on until we’re ready to go though, because we’re boned if we turn her off.”
Steve snorted at that, mouthing “boned” at him and Eddie gave a feral grin in response. Stepped into his space, because how could he not, and clapped Steve on a sweater-clad shoulder.
“Get the kiddos, Stevie. We’ve got an eagle to fly us out of Mordor.”
