Me and Doom Them exchange Christmas ornaments every Christmas eve. It's our only holiday tradition and the idea is for each of us to get the other person an ornament that sums up that year. After doing this for many years now, our tree is full of personalised memories 💜

Oh, ho, ho! Elle Greenaway, you say? Well, because of my unending appreciation for you and your lovely support on Fooled Around - Part 3.... I think you're getting something extra special! How about, a little sneak peak at the chapter I'm currently writing? (Ch 29, I think. Slated to be posted in December)

As the group began mingling and chatting amongst themselves, Elle quickly realised how out of place they felt. Penelope was the only other single person at the party, but they were such a social butterfly, they were the center of attention, regardless of their relationship status. From the run down of introductions Elle had received, it turned out everyone else in attendance was here with their partner, or partners, as it were.

They already knew all about JJ, Emily, and Tara being a throuple, but as they people watched from the corner, Elle's attention was drawn to Tara and Beck, who were currently kissing each other. Although no one around them seemed to find their affections to be odd or alarming, Elle was utterly confused about what they were witnessing.

Elle had briefly met Beck at The Boot, but Tara introduced her as being the contractor on the house -- not as her other, other, other girlfriend. For someone who was extremely aromantic, Elle was, frankly, tired of trying to follow the many different threads that connected everyone else in this room. As far as they were concerned, they decided it was much easier for them to just think of the other nine people as being in one giant polycule together. At least, it sure felt that way from what they'd seen so far tonight.

Eight More Days....

I just finished reading over and editing the first chapter, and I accidentally ended up adding about 1k words to it. Woops!

It still feels surreal to be writing Part 3 of this series. In January it was only an extremely vague hypothetical question posed to my partner: IF I wrote another part of Fooled Around....what would it be about?

From there, the thoughts begin to grow and take hold until I couldn't ignore them anymore. I think I wrote the prologue back in March, just because I needed to get it out of my head while I was still focusing all my attention on [i can't be wrong (to be craving you)]. Which, if you've read it, is the polar opposite vibes of Fooled Around's light-hearted rom-com vibes.

Once that fic was completed, I decided to turn all my attention to turning Part 3 into a reality. As a general rule of thumb for my longer fics, I like to have at least 3-5 chapters written before I ever start posting publicly. It just helps give me a buffer in case I get stuck while writing.

Well, I'm still a week away from posting the start of Part 3 -- and I currently have thirteen chapters fully written!! I mentioned it in another post, but this fic is already my fifth longest fic ever and it's not even published yet! (And I still have SO much left to write!!)

I am so grateful for everyone who's expressed their excitement about this new instalment. In a fandom where femslash is scarce, it's always humbling to have people who enjoy my work, especially when my femslash very often encompasses polyamory. (Because we need more healthy polyam in fic!!) Thank you to all of you!

Emily is a personal trainer who is autistic and queer (and wholesome as hell). She loves Doctor Who, Wonder Woman graphic novels, she's 38, a Libra, and all-round nerd. Through the series she's the central point of all the queer revelations that occur with multiple characters. She goes from having a crush on JJ (who's married to Will), to meeting Tara, to falling in love with Tara, to dating JJ as well, to being the happiest she could possibly be with her two partners.

CHARACTER BIO: TARA LEWIS

Tara is a profiler for the FBI's Behavioural Analysis Unit, where she works on a team with JJ. She's a Taurus who loves comforting her partners, usually with grand overly romantic speeches and gestures. Throughout the series, Tara finds that sometimes being vulnerable isn't as scary as she originally thought. She's demiromantic, and usually would prefer casual sex over serious relationships, but her demi ways are challenged when she meets Emily Prentiss. Falling in love with Emily was not something Tara planned for, so falling for JJ as well really upturned her life.

I was explaining fancasting to my partner the other night when I was reading them their nightly chapter of Fooled Around (and Fell in Love) (I read to them every night before bed. It's gay and wholesome okay?) bc when we don't know what to watch, we always lament how what we REALLY want to watch is the Fooled Around TV series.... Which would be hella.

So I was explaining to them that even though, yes, Fooled Around is a CM fanfic... To ME, I'd cast a TV series as if it was a show 'based on a true story' (look this is meta, stay with me)

This fic is a rom-com AU, so the characters have a lot of unique characterisation that doesn't necessarily fit into the canon CM purview. When thinking about a fancast, to me like, my characters are 'real' people and the Fooled Around TV series would be an actor playing Emily Prentiss vs just like... Paget as Emily. (With the exception of Aisha Tyler playing Tara BC THE HEIGHT IS V IMPORTANT TO ME)

I still don't know if this makes any sense to anyone except me and my partner,but I promised them a full fancast so without further ado:

I don't think anyone else really cares about my Fooled Around (and Fell in Love) - [EXTRAS] series, but in the off chance anyone hasn't checked it out, I wanted to share it here.

What is it?

EXTRAS is basically the fanfic equivalent to the DVD extras menu. I post fanart, author's commentary, easter eggs, playlist links, and even TV screenplay scripts of some of my favourite scenes.

Do you need to read the series to enjoy the EXTRAS?

Some of the chapters (author commentary, easter eggs, etc) will contain spoilers for whichever part of the series they're related to. I recommend reading the EXTRAS after reading the fic(s).

What's the point?

The FAAFIL series is my crowning achievement. This AU is so incredible to me, put simply, I'm really proud of it. I have a lot to say about certain choices I've made in the fic and I just want to share those things with readers.

The EXTRAS are basically what I wish other authors did with series of theirs that I love. As a reader, I ADORE hearing the author's POV or thought processes and I wish posting author commentary was more normalised. I love this kind of thing, and surely, I'm not the only one.

I know this is an incredibly niche thing, because it's a collection of meta commentary about my own fanfic -- but hopefully, others might find it interesting too.

Literally No One:

Me: So in Fooled Around (and Fell in Love), Tara and Emily share a love for music and sharing music with each other is a love-language. They have a joint playlist together in the fic, which I (of course) created to let readers actually listen to something my characters created together.

I also have playlists made solely by Emily or Tara, each playlist has a vibe and covers a handful of genres that Emily or Tara like to listen to. I've thought in depth about this, so I know what artists/genres each character listens to on their own and which songs they listen to together.

JJ, however, hasn't been part of the creative process in making a playlist, up until Part 3. We get our first glimpse at a collaborative Tara/JJ playlist and let me tell you -- it's BUCK WILD.

Tara listens to some Pop, a lot of R&B, a touch of rap, and tons of empowered Black, queer, artists. Some artists she loves: Megan Thee Stallion, Lil Nas X, Lizzo, Beyonce, Janelle Monae. Emily listens to mostly folk/indie stuff, she loves catchy pop songs, and anything she can happy stimm to. She has a playlist for every occasion (although, so does Tara). She loves artists like Avett Brothers, A Fine Frenzy, Mumford and Suns, but also loves pop icons like, Carly Rae Jepsen, Hayley Kiyoko, Mary Lambert.

JJ is a wild card. This woman loves all music, she's not really picky. She loves 80s anthems, anything dancey, and everything in between. Her favourite artists are KT Tunstall and Cyndi Lauper.

How this all plays out is that when I created the playlists mentioned in the series -- I created them with the thought process of 'This is Tara picking songs, not me, what would she put on here?'. Which is to say, my companion playlists are so incredibly well-crafted and planned out. The only songs that cross over between playlists are ones I imagine were introduced by one character to another. Ex: Tara has some Betty Who songs on her flying playlist, because Emily introduced her to Betty Who.
