I've been keeping a video diary for the past two years to help with my ruined 🌟 mental health 🌟 and I officially stopped on new years day this year, as it served its purpose perfectly and Oh My God I am loving not having to capture something everyday, it's been a big relief to just exist and let time flow without reminding myself to document anything. It was exactly what I needed in 2022 to help me reconnect with my physical body and recognise my face and see myself in my own life the way I needed it, and in 2023 it was perfect for capturing my joys and loved ones and everything I was grateful or proud of, and now I'm ready to just live organically and I am Loving not having to take a video everyday!! Ugh its so good.

#honestly it was one of the best practical things I started doing to help myself back in 2022 #in total 2022 had a total of 23 minutes of edited memories #and 2023 (so far as I'm still working on editing December) has about 37 minutes #it's brought me so much joy and happiness watching it back #i did journals for certain events like my birthday and concerts which used a lot of footage and longer clipa #and then cherrypicked from those to add to the yearlong journal #i also compared my summers to my winters #it was super interesting seeing how my priorities shifted and my self consciousness slipped away over time #it sounds odd but i became very fond of seeing myself in videos talking about things i was passionate about or making jokes #i got used to hearing my own laughter and accent #i grew affectionate of my own weird little facial expressions and the way I grin like a maniac when i got excited #it was like falling in love with the idea of myself alongside stitching back together my own image of mself as an interactive reallife self #with the physical body i could observe interacting in my life and see in the mirror #probably the healthiest thing i did for myself in 2022 was committing to that diary #and the healthiest thing for me now is taking the training wheels off and flying #so yeah #absolutely loving not remembering to have my phone 24/7 #personal #rambles

since june of 2022 I've been keeping a journal where every month I write a page of updates about my life during that month. and it's turned out to be a really interesting project, because as I'm writing each update it seems like things aren't really changing very much month to month, but then once a year goes by and I'm comparing the 2023 update to the 2022 update, the difference is staggering. not only can I see how much my life has changed in a year, but I can also see how my perspective has changed about the things I was writing about a year ago. the journal is set up to continue through may 2027 so I'm very curious and excited to finish it and be able to look back on my life over the course of five years

Last week, the WHO announced that it will recommend creation of a new booster for the JN.1 variant of COVID-19. One little problem: JN.1 was hyper-dominant all fall and winter but is quickly fading away. Now, its descendent KP.2 is positioned to take off in an early-summer wave. By this winter, when we’re able to get the brand-new JN.1 vaccine, the dominant variant will most likely be a descendent of KP.2. In other words, a distant relative of JN.1.

If you, like me, got the most recent booster, you got a vaccine designed to help prevent and lessen symptoms of XBB.1.5, the variant most dominant in the winter of 2022-23. During that winter, the booster was designed to combat the Omicron BA variants, which were predominant a year prior, in the winter of 2021-22.

You see the pattern?

Often when the topic of COVID is broached, people who have paid little attention since early 2021 point out that “now we have the vaccines.” Ok. Yes. But are you aware of what has changed since 2021? Specifically, the virus?

When Moderna and Pfizer announced their COVID-19 vaccines, the efficacy of the shots was thrilling. Early data showed a reduction in infection - not just severity, in actual infections- of 90%+. Here’s a link to a Pfizer release which states:

Data from 43,448 participants, half of whom received BNT162b2 and half of whom received placebo, showed that the vaccine candidate was well tolerated and demonstrated 95% efficacy in preventing COVID-19 in those without prior infection 7 days or more after the second dose….These pivotal data demonstrate that our COVID-19 vaccine candidate is highly effective in preventing COVID-19 disease and is generally well-tolerated.

In the vaccine world, this is a home run. No vaccines are 100% effective against infection. But if you can get enough shots 90+% effective in arms fast enough, you can achieve what is called herd immunity. Herd immunity is achieved when the “disease gradually disappears from a population and may result in eradication or permanent reduction of infections to zero”. The virus runs out of hosts and dies out.

This was the explicit goal of the Biden administration, stating in early 2021 that we could be “heading to herd immunity by summer”. His exact words were, “I feel confident that by summer, we're going to be well on our way to heading toward herd immunity”. This meant- at the time- getting to a place where the majority of the population has immunity to COVID, and therefore vulnerable people aren’t exposed. It’s critical that people understand that Biden’s COVID response never achieved its own stated goals, rather, the public was gaslit into accepting a new goal: forever reinfections.
