Makeup is the most important point. Even if the hair is styled and the outfit [is] perfect, as long as the makeup is missing, you are not gyaru at all.

Writeblr Intro!!!
Tumblr media
A quick run down & random facts (lol!):
My name is Paulina. I'm 26 and I’m a fellow Brooklynite!
I'm black (Haitian-American)
Red velvet cake is the best cake out there! No one can convince me otherwise!
I'm an aspiring writer with dreams of being traditionally published one day.
I have too many WIPs to count! (50 or so, to be exact)!
For a potential follower, if you like diverse, nuanced, complex character driven stories with plots galore, I'm your gal!
I'm also a mythology nerd (my fav. being Greek mythology), but I'm interested in learning about other mythologies out there! (Norse, Japanese, Mayan, African, etc...)
Night owl, bibliophile, bookworm- that's ME!
I'd totally wear a book scented perfume!
I love reading YA & Adult books. My go-to genres are contemporary (love, love, love character driven stories that pack an emotional punch! I'm also a sucker for love stories (fav. tropes include, but not limited to- enemies to lovers, best friends to lovers, found family, second chance romance...), literary fiction, historical fiction (pirates, queens, royal intrigue, vikings, major historical events- the world is my oyster!), historical fantasy, fantasy (I love extensive realized worlds!!!), & science fiction (cyborgs, A.I., robots, oh my!)
On this blog, I'll share character profiles, worldbuilding stuff, and snippets of my WIPs. I'm also a fan of reblogging fashion, gorgeous artwork, & other images that I connect with! I'm looking forward to getting to know more people in the writeblr community & hopefully getting more followers as well! My ask box is always open!
Some of my WIPs:
My main WIP is a YA contemporary fantasy series titled Kingdom of Ichor (new & improved title!!!). Think Greek mythology mixed with the TV show Euphoria & a small dash of Gossip Girl. It's a modern retelling or "remix" of Greek myths. Each book will be dual POV, third person. I'm currently working on a 1st draft on the first book- Of Flowers and Darkness, a Hades & Persephone retelling
My Life is a Telenovela!- a standalone YA contemporary following the misadventures of an aspiring screenwriter named Lucia at her performing arts high school in Miami. Her parents are well known telenovela stars.
The Rat Pack- a standalone YA contemporary about five Florida teens (who are best friends) that go on a road trip across the United States before going their separate ways for college.
Gorgeous Gems- a YA contemporary companion series following three sisters (who are also identical triplets!) and their lives in Cleveland, Ohio. The first book will follow the eldest triplet. The title is Shine Bright Like a Diamond!
Kissing in the Dark- a YA historical fiction story following a gay Jewish teenage boy named Max. It takes place in 1969 in NYC against the backdrop of the Stonewall Riots.
The Zenith Chronicles- a YA science fiction trilogy that's set in the futuristic cyberpunk city of Zenith. The first book is gonna be a retelling of Little Red Riding Hood titled Savage Red.
One of my Adult WIPs is about a young Mexican woman who makes the drastic choice to work for a ruthless cartel, bringing forth all her dark & deadly desires. The working title is Sicaria.

Day 350
July 18, 2023
Tumblr media
I got up early and took a look around Diamond Lake. There wasn’t much activity, though I did see a female common merganser swimming.
We left around 7:30 and began the drive toward Crater Lake. We stopped at Castle Crest Wildflower Trail along the way for a short hike. It’s not in full bloom yet, but it’s still quite pretty. I was surprised to find that there was still some ice on the ground. I suppose that’s a result of the altitude; we were 7,500 feet up the last I checked. I was surprised I didn’t feel it, considering we were at sea level just a day before.
Tumblr media
I promptly fell behind looking for birds and got caught in a conversation with two older women about flowers. They told me that this was the first time they’d been here this year and were coming to see the flowers before the main fire season. They pointed out several flowers including bog orchids, which they said were growing earlier this year.
They also showed me monkeyflowers, which they said would grow to cover much of the hill after a couple months.
I parted ways to try to catch up to my teammates and reached the trail clearing. It strikes me how richly this forest smells of wood. I usually don’t notice the scent of a place, but this was difficult to miss; it quite reminded me of the lumber section of a hardware store or the part of a tractor supply store that sells horse stall bedding.
Tumblr media
The team had started splitting up to look for me by the time I found some of them. It probably took 20 or 30 minutes for the rest of us to reunite. Oops. We continued to Crater Lake, pulling over every few minutes to look. It’s hard to explain just how huge this place is. There’s no way to see it all without turning one’s head, and I couldn’t get the whole thing in one photo:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Crater Lake has a unique geological history. It is the deepest lake in the United States:
A massive eruption occurred about 7,700 years ago. It was followed by ejections of volcanic matter through fractures, in an oval shape around the mountain. These events weakened the mountain’s structure, and caused the central portion of Mount Mazama to collapse inward. The result was an 5–6 mi (8–10 km) diameter and 0.7 mi (1.2 km) deep caldera. … Soon after the caldera formed, eruptions from new vents built the base of Wizard Island, and over several hundred years, rain and snow partially filled the caldera. Meanwhile, Wizard Island continued to grow and three other volcanoes formed underwater. The final eruption was on the east flank of Wizard Island about 4,800 years ago. … Evaporation and seepage are equal forces which keep Crater Lake from filling beyond an average depth of 1,943 ft (592 m) or 4.9 trillion gal (18.6 trillion L) of water. About 34 billion gal (128 billion L) are gained and lost each year.
All three vans met at the visitor center so we could swap teammates and look around more. The visitor center itself was closed, but there was quite a bit of activity nonetheless. I ran into a birder I earlier saw on the wildflower trail, and she told me that the Clark’s nutcrackers I was watching had fledged a week ago. Interestingly, these juveniles looked identical to the adult feeding them; I wouldn’t have known they were fledglings if it weren’t for them screaming to be fed. I suppose this isn’t too surprising, considering they’re related to crows and jays, which generally don’t have the most distinct juvenal plumage.
I saw a Townsend’s solitaire flying in the distance. These robin and bluebird relatives are plain grey birds with few markings, minus some light patterning on the wings. The solid buff stripe on the top of its wing was a distinct enough field mark for me to be confident identifying it.
I watched a small flock of red crossbills land in one of the conifers. These goldfinch relatives have unique crossed bills they use to pry seeds out of cones. They are somewhat uncommon among birds for not having a distinct breeding season or location; they’ll breed whenever and wherever the conifer seeds are plentiful.
We drove for several hours and crossed into California. It looks like several acres along the interstate had burned recently:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
A few more miles, and we passed Mount Shasta and met for lunch at Weed, CA. Another several hours, and we finally arrived back at campus. We took COVID tests, got our dorm keys, unloaded the vans, and spent the rest of the evening socializing and resting.

~Subestilos Gyaru~
Kogyaru/Kogal~
Tumblr media Tumblr media
O primeiro subestilo.
Ganguro, manba, yamanba + kurogyaru~
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Exemplo chave: Black Diamond Gal Unit.
Gyaruo~
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Hime Gyaru~
Tumblr media Tumblr media
As princesas do mundo gyaru!
Ora Ora + Ane Gyaru~

Weird size community meme idea- your taste in size content represented via playing cards.
No, seriously.
Set the red suits and black suits in two separate piles to start, and set the Jokers aside- cards laid vertically will be things that you're generally interested in, or that you'd like to see in a partner of a different size. Cards laid horizontally will be ideas that would apply to you.
The black suits, clubs and spades, will be giant-related. First, kings, queens and jacks- guys, gals, and nonbinary; who's the big party in your ideal g/t story?
Next, the numbered cards. In a setting built for the smaller party (so the big ones are giants, dealing with inconveniences like being unable to ride in cars or enter most buildings comfortably), what's your ideal size gap between the giant(s) and everybody else? [Word to the wise- The max. height is going to be A) in Imperial units and B) shown off using a relatively short 5 ft tall and a very tall 6'8" multiplied up to the relevant proportions ahead, like so 5'/6'8"]. 2 is up to about double, where everyone is about double-ish the norm- 10/13 feet, about, so the smaller ones come up to their waist or higher, typically. 3 would be from there up to about 5x the norm, so anywhere up to 25/33 feet tall- about to the shin. 4 is from there up to the beloved Brobdingnagian x12 difference, or 60/80 feet tall- one foot to the humans is about an inch to the bigs. 5 is from those proportions up to a 20x difference, 100/133 ft, where people are about the size of their finger or ear, and a 5/6 story building is their equal in height. 6 is where we start getting crazy- an up to 60x difference, 300/400 ft. tall, meaning the average person is only as tall as their toes, and their proportions mean that they need to be careful lest they knock over skyscrapers- they're about as tall as a 15/20 story building at this point. 7 is a difference up to 240x, or 1200/1600 ft tall, which is the point where they'd start genuinely causing damage to the landscape and civilization with their footsteps, and people would start to resemble small bugs to them. 8 on up is much less common, but I'll keep going- this number indicates anywhere up to a 500x difference between the giant and the human civilization, or 2500/3333 feet tall; this is around half a mile, and where living on or inside the giant(s) becomes a feasible option- the giant would be no more cognizant of the individual people than we would be an aphid. 9 is where we make significantly larger jumps for those who like their giants colossal- this covers anything up to 7,500,000x normal size, or 7500/9833 miles tall- approximately the same size as Earth's diameter, or literally planetary-scale giants. Lastly, 10 covers anything up to 225 million times normal size, up to 225,000/300,000 miles tall- so large than even the Earth itself is 2 inches across, or about the size of a largish gumball, by comparison to the giant, a card I don't expect most of you to set out.
Last, the ace- do you like it when the big has to grow big to get like this? Its absence will be for giants born enormous (or made enormous in the case of mechanical or divine beings).
For the red suits, your hearts and diamonds, these are for tiny roles. Again, the kings, queens, and jacks- tiny guys, smol gals, little enby pals.
The numbered cards here refer to settings designed for the comfort of the bigger party- your Borrower or HIStK settings go here. 2 is for anything down to half-size smalls, 2'6"/3'4" coming up to about the waist of their bigger counterparts- an inconvenient existence, but not by too much. 3 is from that point down to one-fourth size, 15"/20", which would leave our smaller party at about knee height, and taller people would look like two-story buildings at about this point. 4 takes us down to one-sixth size, 10"/13", which is about the length of the bigger people's forearm, and just the right size to mount your average housecat or small dog like a horse. 5 takes us down to Lilliputian one-twelfth, or 5/7 inches tall- this would put the smaller ones at about the length of people's hands from base of palm to tip of pinky finger, and small enough to hide in underwear; notably, this is a great "small civilization" size in other works as well, with mice and rats occupying a role as mounts, various common lizards acting the role of dragon, and both cats and hawks being relatively threatening. 6 takes us to the ever popular one-twentieth, or 3/4 inches tall- about as tall as a person's ear, or as long as their finger if laid out; notably, this is a pretty common Borrower size, as your bog standard inch-and-a-half sewing needle makes for a decent rapier at this scale, large bugs are a relatively even fight, socks are bigger than you and fluffy enough to make into beds, etc. 7 takes us to the one-sixtieth size smalls, or approximately an inch tall- to the people, they're about as tall as their toe, or the length of a single joint on a finger; these are the settings where they frequently interact with, say, snails, crickets, and hummingbirds, but brown ants are about the size of dogs to the littles. 8 is where we start getting extra little, specifically down to one-hundred-twentieth scale- this makes the smalls about the length of the bed of an unpainted fingernail, and where the common small trope of "a few crumbs is too much" genuinely starts to apply. 9 takes us all the way down to one-five-hundredth scale smalls, or about the size of fleas- notably, this makes the smalls actually small enough to not break water's surface tension (read- walk on dirty water) and a head of hair becomes a forest. 10, lastly, brings us down to the genuinely microscopic smalls, the ones who can't be effectively seen by the naked eye unless they're moving or in a group, down to 1/1200 scale for the sake of stating an identifiable number- at this size, every inch is a five-mile trek, meaning that it's usually reserved for brief jokes and villain punishments; that said, would briefly like to note Fantastic Voyage plots, but effective conversion for numbers that small is giving me a headache.
These aces note a love of shrinking itself being pointed out. If not used, they instead indicate littles born or created that size being your preference.
You can use as many cards as apply to your tastes.

Best in Class
Tumblr media
I call it Old Money Style. It’s often called ‘preppy’, sometimes ‘Ivy Style’, referring to the Ivy League schools in the northeast region of the United States, where this mode of dressing originated almost a century ago. Whatever you call it, it’s the way Old Money Gals have been dressing for decades.
This traditional, comfortable, discreet, and elegant manner of dress has endured, oblivious to the winds of fashion. It remains a benchmark. Use it as your North Star, should you find yourself at a loss for wardrobe direction. It exclusively involves natural fabrics, leans toward solid colors, and will serve you extremely well over the course of your life.
Should you adopt this style, people may not notice what you’re wearing on a specific day, but they will over time come to consider you as always ‘well dressed’, regardless of whether they see you in the office, around the neighborhood, or at a social event.
Again: the way you dress is nonverbal communication. When you opt to dress as an Old Money Gal, your style is communicating some important ideas to others about you: you’re confident about your future, secure enough not to have to attract attention strictly with your clothes, independent in your thinking, and unapologetic about your values. You convey the idea that your attributes go much deeper than what meets the eye, and that, in order to find out what those are, someone will have to take an interest and make an effort to get to know you. You’re not on display for anyone’s amusement, entertainment, or approval.
Furthermore, you establish yourself as a person uninfluenced by passing trends, someone who doesn’t need the latest fashion to prop up her self-esteem. You’re presenting yourself as someone with self-respect and traditional values—the opposite of arm candy. All these things are going to work in your favor as you make a first impression, and as you create an appearance that conveys how you expect to be treated: fairly and with respect.
Random thing to consider: you’ve seen family photos that are ten, twenty, or thirty years old. Fashions captured in these images can be ghastly and comical. That’s because they are fashions. They are not style. You know who doesn’t look silly? Old Money Gals. Because they dress in the same style for decades, from generation to generation, from cradle to grave.
~ OLD MONEY SECRET ~ How a woman presents herself to the world will determine to a large extent how she is treated by the world and what results she gets from the world. Presentation includes preparation, comportment and manners, and clothing and grooming.
* * * * * * * * THE SHORT LIST If you are a college student, or just starting out in your career, you want to keep your style simple, economical, and classic. Here’s a Short List of the basics you can acquire in order to present yourself stylishly for decades:
1. White or sky blue long sleeve,100% cotton and linen blouses; 2. Solid color 100% cotton short sleeve pullovers; 3. Solid color pullover or cardigan sweaters,100% wool or 100% cotton; 4. 100% linen or cotton long pants and shorts in solid colors; 5. Grey, black, or navy 100% linen or wool/cashmere blend pants; 6. Grey, black, or navy 100% linen or 100% wool skirts; 7. A classic black dress, mid-length; 8. Black high heel shoes with a closed toe, for office or dress; 9. Navy or tan pumps with a chunk heel, for walking comfortably; 10. Topsiders, sandals, or loafers, for casual; 11. Wool socks and cotton socks and hose, neutral, blue or black; 12. Blue or black blazer; 13. Blue, black, or grey business suit of good quality; 14. Navy, grey, or camel tan full-length 100% wool coat for winter; 15. A ‘London Fog’ style trench coat for rain.
Ralph Lauren Polo, Brooks Brothers, LL Bean, and Lands’ End offer these items in a predictable range of quality and styles, and a wide variety of price points. Remember the Old Money Order of Things: Plan…well in advance. Earn…like a man. Save… consistently. Invest…strategically. Spend…wisely. Plan. Earn. Save. Invest. Spend. As you strategize to create or recreate your wardrobe, remember: you are investing in yourself. Invest in quality products in traditional styles because they stand the test of time. Keep these helpful hints in mind:
Take your time; let your style develop;
Remember and follow the ‘5% set aside’ rule;
Avoid logos, or keep them small and to a minimum;
Prioritize your purchasing: acquire items you will wear every day first;
In terms of quality/price, most of the time you will get what you pay for;
Look for items that wear well over time, both in terms of style and durability;
Shop at upscale vintage stores for great deals on high-quality, well-maintained, classic garments.
THE REAL THING A stunning, tasteful, original piece of jewelry is an accessory that enhances a woman’s natural beauty. Old Money Gals know that, and keep jewelry to a minimum. Follow their lead: keep the bling to a minimum. Make sure it is appropriate. A little goes a long way. Curate great pieces made with quality materials. Know that counterfeit jewelry or accessories are obvious to the refined eye and should be avoided. I feel very strongly about this for two reasons.
First, counterfeiting name brands is a criminal enterprise. It is lucrative. It is global. It is violent. And it victimizes not just the women who buy the fake items, but also the often abused women who work in hellish conditions for slave wages to produce the merchandise. So, considering this, you can decide if you want to participate in this blood-stained economy in order to impress the easily impressed.
Second, I will tell you that Old Money Gals have razor-sharp radar: they can spot a fake Louis Vuitton bag from across the street. Furthermore, Old Money Gals view the display of counterfeit merchandise as a desperate attempt to impress and as a willingness to deceive. Neither of these is appealing. Neither is tolerated. So, do not come crying to me when you have been dissed and dismissed for owning a piece of counterfeit merchandise.
In the words of the classic Motown hit…ain’t nothing like the real thing, baby. An authentic Patek Philippe, Cartier tank watch or stainless steel Rolex says much more than a gaudy display of diamonds or cubic zirconium. Again: Purchase genuine, quality pieces slowly over time. (Unlike counterfeits, they are a wise investment and will last a lifetime.) Extravagant rings, necklaces, and watches have their place. Still, even the most affluent women on the planet opt for discreet luxury when it comes to jewelry to wear on a daily basis.

A 10-pp. selection of poems
Personage The terrace offers a point. From this point a view. It's only a stop-off; it assumes the motion requisite for temporary stays will continue. The speculative friction required to stop those passing through would require planned extinction; would require war against generations of persistence across biome, suffering & misery magnified it remains threatened always. Building requires digging. Digging creates hollows to be filled. A move past botanicals—it doesn’t exist. A pulse in the web. Walk toward beyond the view: journey’s luck to close in on production. Pace picks up, dusk’s dis- appearing light invites one in: welcome.   Prelude Tonight the act of naming fell through the floor. We speak permeable solids inflected by light. Skull’s grid moves units indistinctly: windshield & palette cross paths, hatch an Ovidian shift, difixiones to devotio; the faux-gorithm teases pantheon from closet, traces flotilla’s down, hot air balloons, celebrating you or prairie fair. You’ll learn to kill that hunger for thunderhead drift. I follow shapes of your speech, attend to your syntax, taste your configuration; to keep up I sketch stick figure, code hypertext script cascading in style, the result of which confirms, again: we’re lost. Plot is a plait’d plat, flatland destination & another assemblage? I want aura to invite aural meiosis, aurora splitting into rural roads, for the bassoon quartet to be forgiven for plastic bag reeds on my direction, for aria to, moody, move into a different mode & travel out through spring’s open window; I want the racket splenetic melancholy, for dynamic accompaniment fit for unfashionable passion, the like. That state of exilium you described as a quantum between. Always pain hover triangulated. Frame Matisse with me, guilty stokes both— say the magnolia blooms shall remain & not at the expense of any other but they do not. Creek diverted, river dead: suck’d dry wax & cone though still dragonflies are purple, abdomen metallic sets of curvature & husk. Nearby: field of lightning. Make way for the belle of the ball!
Tumblr media
Cardi B hit the carpet in this fairytale-like light pink tiered Georges Hobeika Couture gown. The “Press” rapper loves a princess vibe at Rih’s Diamond Ball. She rocked a princess style Christian Siriano gown to the Diamond Ball in 2017.
Oh, and she had her boo Offset dress as Prince Charming:

Bardi also brought her sister Hennessy Carolina, who rocked a glittery rainbow Georges Hobeika dress that featured a thigh-high leg slit.
Back to the couples...
Tumblr media
Rapper Fabolous and Emily B are still together.
Tumblr media
Over the summer, drama popped off online after flicks of Fabolous having lunch with a woman surfaced. He claims the woman was a teacher form his son's school and even threatened to sue for defamation. Meanwhile, Emily B was on a girls trip...with some NFL company - i.e. Panthers QB Cam Newton. Weeks later, Fab and Em were spotted at the strip club together, so they're seemingly still working on keeping their relationship solid.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
New rap couple Megan Thee Stallion and Moneybagg Yo made their way to the Diamond Ball. These two have been all lovey dovey on social media lately and they're kinda growing on us.
Tumblr media
Brand new couple YG and Kehalni made another carpet appearance together.
Tumblr media
Kehlani recently vented her frustration at internet trolls (again) and revealed her 3-year battle with "media related PTSD." Catch up HERE.
Tumblr media Tumblr media

Tumblr media

Tumblr media Tumblr media
Rapper ASAP Ferg and his model/photographer girlfriend Renell Medrano served up coupledom vibes.
Tumblr media

Tumblr media
Singer Normani stepped outside of the box in this J'Aton Couture dress. We feelin' it?
Tumblr media

He rocked a Raf Simons ensemble from the SS 2020 collection.
Tumblr media
Rapper/REFORM co-chair Meek Mill was in the mix, dapping up fellow rapper YG on the carpet.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
"Love & Hip Hop" star Cyn Santana - who is single these days - posed it up in a Garo Sparo dress, Stella Hues shoes, and Erickson Beamon earrings. She brought her "LAAH" co-star Jonathan Fernandez as her date.
Tumblr media
Model/"Love & Hip Hop: Hollywood" star Slick Woods popped up on the carpet to support Rih's cause. If you didn't know, she went into labor right after hitting the carpet for Rihanna's Savage x Fenty runway show last year.

During the action, Bardi experienced a faux pas. She apparently outbid herself during the charity portion of the event where she was trying to nab Rih's upcoming coffee table book.
PEOPLE reports:
At first, Cardi bid $106K on the designer table top book, even though the auctioneer had asked for $110K. After another bidder rang in at $107K, the singer upped her bid to $108K before bidding a final $111K — $1,000 more than the auctioneer had asked for.
“Do you know how this works?” the auctioneer joked, but Cardi — who attended the event with husband Offset — appeared unbothered and celebrated with her hands in the air as she won the coffee table book.
Ha!
Tumblr media
Well, aren't they cute!
Tumblr media
Rapper 21 Savage came out to party.
