Sandstorm dying solely to further alderheart’s pissbaby manpain made me so upset. alderheart in general just pisses me off… him and tree were both just so blatantly written to steal the arc from their she-cat counterparts lmfao (sparkpelt, sandstorm, needletail, violetshine). that’s it, that’s their purpose… similar to rootspring and nightheart. I just can’t enjoy characters whose purpose narratively is to shove the she-cats to the wayside… it happens so much in this series already

yeah 😔 it's the repetition of the archetype and the context around it that gets me- on his own, alderheart is just "guy i don't really care about", same with rootspring and tree, but the more i sit down and think "hm, why are the male characters in the series written this way and the female characters written this way? why are events ordered in a way that constantly shifts attention and sympathy back towards the male characters?" i start to get mad about lots of little tiny details, which in turn make egregious things like "arc 1 legacy character getting unceremoniously fridged by dying in a ditch somewhere for a pittance of character development her boring grandson while all of her male counterparts get comparatively way more respectful or impactful deaths" even worse somehow.

#it's also so tiring to me that when male characters are boring they are given heaps of fanon that make them sweet and memorable #but when female characters are underwritten that side of the fandom is just like 'yup she's boring! i hate her. ignoring her' #i understand that there are few genuinely well-written male characters to latch onto in the series #but people do it with every single male character regardless anyways so it's not like that even matters #i liked a lot of generic niceboy characters when i first joined the fandom but in hindsight it was all just fanon and a sense of obligation #'yeah of course i have to like alderheart and fernsong! they're good soft boys! crowfeather is a funny pathetic guy!' #nowadays i couldnt care less if alderheart and fernsong etc died in a tragic sudden minecraft creeper explosion offscreen #and im actively manifesting that it happen to crowfeather

I love how generational my masjid is. You walk in and immediately on the right in the women’s area you are greeted with a circle of women all in their 30’s - 40’s sitting with one another for their Quran halaqa where they will stick around after for a cup of tea and you go down the hallway to the left to see the imam’s office filled with all old uncles in their 60’s talking about their latest Islamic book read while chowing down on some biryani one of their wives brought for the group and even further down that hallway is a class filled with elementary students learning their tajweed of the Quran, take it a floor below downstairs and you will see young adults in their 20’s there to meet up and socialize after a long day at work or college and the gym will be flooded with little children here to run around and play while their parents talk amongst each other at a table in the back and in the lounge room too close to the gym of loud children as the teens have loudly expressed to the masjid management you will find all the high schoolers sitting on the couches doing their homework and I will admit a decent amount of talking and make your way outside to see all the middle school boys are out engrossed in a game of soccer with our 19 year old soccer net and on some summer days an uncle will bring his grill over to feed all who came for Maghreb salah and other days all the families after fajr salah will embark on a bike ride on a trail near the masjid with the young children speeding up to the front and their parents huffing behind them trying to catch up.

#I love how involved my community is in our masjid #but not only that #this involvement is from so many of our generations #it’s so beautiful to see such an active and thriving community #of course we still have many ways to go #and our shortcomings #but alhumdillah for what we do have #m’s mind

It kinda sucks how Optimus Prime is a character who people (in real life) expect to be so Indubitably Good All The Time that they immediately shut down and refuse to acknowledge him whenever he does bad things or fucks up. Like I don't think I've seen any other character in this fandom get the same instantly negative reaction/never talk about him ever treatment that IDW Optimus gets.

Like, it's either him being a cop or the annexation of Earth. But instead of actually engaging with the story and going "so how does being a cop affect the way he treats and is treated by others" or "what led Optimus to annex Earth and how is this a reflection of his ultimately heroic ideal to treat organics as equal to Cybertronians despite the historical racism of his species"

Mum's had a stroke. Left side paralyzed. Expected to recover but time frame unsure. Her friends are looking after her (she's a retired surgeon). Am letting my sister handle it and curling up into a ball.

Kinda wish she'd kick it once and for all tbh. Not only will she not be able to work her private clinic and keep this place afloat, but it will probably be my little nest egg that goes into doing so in the interim. And then she won't be able to work as much afterwards, when she's deep in the red already.

Sane thing to do is (has always been) sell the house, pay off the bank, put the rest in an FD and live off the interest in a small flat closer to the city. Put my brother into an assisted care facility. But she won't do that as long as she's alive and will instead go even more turbo Born Again Jesus stan, keeping my brother imprisoned, abused and neglected under the iron rule of her awful housekeeper.

Otoh, if she does pop her clogs right now, our funerals are several-days long open house affairs that would be hell for my current mental stability.

Imagine being a bitch enough for it to be a toss up whether surviving is beneficial to the health and sanity of your dependents lmao.

My sister seems to have the "functional adult" thing handled for now so she's welcome to inflict her own brand of insanity on the situation. Second stroke usually comes up within two years of the first one and finishes you off. That was what happened to Dad and my MIL. So I guess it's just a matter of time before she joins her husband in hell anyway.
